manny4life: Get rid of the heavy accent? And throw it to where? Over Atlantic Ocean embarassed embarassed embarassed

It's your type that crossed into U.S. and started to form with the weird accent that puts everyone in double commotion. undecided undecided undecided Double Jeopardy. Your trying to form mad your experience a terrible one, so you want to act out against someone else.

Please people, BE YOURSELF. This is WRONG ADVICE, people will gladly communicate with you if you speak yourself than forcing yourself to be what you're not. You'll be mocked trying to feel among rather than being yourself.

The accent comes with time, and when I mean time, it's def not 1,2,3 years, it takes years for the American accent to flow through because you have to learn the words, (we use different word than Nigeria does) and the pronunciation is different. You also have to fluently interact with people constantly before the accent flows through. Even educated veterans here still have slight African accent, let alone, a new comer.

As much as your spite and hate cannot be overlooked, for you to call someone an FOB, it certainly means that you're in the same system. Veterans do not use that word, unless students who're in the school system. So it translates either you're still in high school, college, and haven't seen the light for you to make such comment. So please, STOP the advice knowing that you're in the same FOB.

PoliticsNigeria Violence: Deadly Gun Attack On Bar In Yobe by expensive007(op): 6:57am On Jan 11, 2012
Gunmen in Nigeria have opened fire in a bar in the north of
the country, killing eight people including several police
officers.
The attack in Yobe state is the latest in a series that officials blame
on the Islamist militant group, Boko Haram.
Earlier, at least five people died when a mosque and Islamic school
were set alight in Benin city, in the mainly Christian south.
Muslims have been fleeing the city for the mainly Islamic north.
Religious tensions have been growing as a general strike over
rising petrol prices continues to grip the country.
"Suspected Islamic sect members attacked the drinking joint and
killed eight people, four of whom were policemen," Yobe state
police commissioner Tanko Lawal told Reuters news agency.
Reports said the gunmen fled on a motorcycle after the late-night
attack in the town of Potiskum. A seven-year-old child was also
among the victims, police said.
Southerners, who are mostly Christians or animists, have recently
been the targets of attacks by Boko Haram, which operates in the
mainly Muslim north.
Yobe is one of the states where the government has declared a
state of emergency following an upsurge in violence by the
Islamist group. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-16499659

President of the Association for Industrial Security and Safety
Operations of Nigeria, Dr. Ona Ekhomu, has warned the Federal
Government to prepare for possible bomb attacks on New Year’s
day, 2012.
He said the fact that Boko Haram terrorists struck on Christmas
Eve and New Year’s Eve in 2010, those behind the 2011 Christmas
day attacks might be tempted to follow the trend.
He said, “Since past is prologue to the future and the masters of
Boko Haram tend to strike on anniversaries and on celebration
days in order to maximise fatalities, they will probably carry out
more spectacular attacks on New Year’s day 2012.”

Katsina—No fewer than 143 people have died and 424 others
injured in motor accidents in Katsina State since January,
according to the Sector Command of Federal Roads Safety
Commission, FRSC.
The Sector Commander of FRSC, Alhaji Habu Dauda, made
the disclosure in Katsina, yesterday.
Dauda said in spite of the reduction in the number of
accidents during the year, there were 27 more deaths
compared to the 116 persons who died the year before.
He said: “The first quarter of this year was the worst when
65 persons were killed and 129 others sustained injuries in
various road accidents in the state.”
Dauda attributed most of the accidents to recklessness
among road users and expressed concern over the activities
of commercial motorcyclists whom he blamed for most
accidents in urban areas. www.vanguardngr.com/2011/12/143-dead-424-injured-in-katsina-road-accidents/
Christianity EtcNigerian Pilgrims Detained In Jerusalem by expensive007(op): 7:08am On Dec 27, 2011
Seven Nigerian pilgrims to Jerusalem, including two priests
and a woman, have alleged poor treatment in the hands of
Israeli security operatives, saying they were unjustly
detained in prison for about 11 hours without committing
any offence.
The pilgrims said they arrived Tel Av-iv Airport on December
15, from Rome where they were arrested and put into a
Black Maria on the pretext that they entered Israel illegally.
According to one the returnees, Rev. Father Anthony Zakka,
those detained included the Chaplain of the Government
House, Adamawa State and Assistant Secretary of the
Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in the state, Rev. Mike
Agbon and five other pilgrims, including a female official of
the Kaduna State Christian Pilgrims Board.
Rev. Zakka said: “We left Rome on December 15 for
Jerusalem (Israel). At 2.30a.m. Israeli time, we were arrested.
Six of us were men with one woman, an official of Kaduna
Pilgrims Welfare Board.
“We were accused of entering Israel illegally as, according to
them, our names were not among those sent by the
Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, NCPC.
“Incidentally, while this was going on, NCPC officials who
were with us did not do anything. They just walked away.
This was at the Bengurion Airport.
“They took us to prison after stripping us. We were kept
inside the prison with a Russian who had already spent six
days there.
“They took away our clothes and took the woman to
another section while they separated the rest of us into two
groups and detained us separately.
“At 10a.m. I started banging on the door of our prison cell
but they ignored us. Later they took us back to re-join the
other pilgrims and to continue with our religious duties.
“At the Ankalia Airport, Turkey, Nigerian officials also
dumped us there for five hours without explaining what was
wrong.
“These sorts of things should not happen in a decent society.
“Some us who went for Jerusalem pilgrimage add JP after
their names, but for us you will be free to call us Jerusalem
Pilgrims Prisoner, JPP,” Father Zakka added.www.vanguardngr.com/2011/12/nigerian-pilgrims-detained-in-jerusalem/

The spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Mr. Samuel
Jinadu, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria
in Lagos.
Jinadu said the command had mobilised all area commands and
divisions for effective policing duty during the Yuletide.
He said that due to the importance attached to the season, the
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Yakubu Alkali, did not approve leave
for any officer, "so as to have enough men on ground."
He said Amoured Personnel Carriers and plain clothes officers had
been deployed in black spots, recreational and event centres.
Jinadu said the ban on fireworks was still in force and that
anybody caught with bangers would be arrested and prosecuted.
He advised commercial motorcyclists to always be vigilant in their
areas of operation in order to detect suspected criminals hiding
under the guise of being motorcyclists.

According to the charge preferred against Chinenye, 30 and
Michael, 23, both conspired and slept with the alleged victim

The two defendants were alleged to have stripped the complainant
naked and fondled his penis before inserting their manhood in his

the victim, they also alleged to have demanded money from him
in return for his nude photographs taken during the indecent act.
The incident happened at 11, Appollo Street, Makoko, Yaba
residence of the defendants where the complainant had visited

The robbers, who carted away undisclosed sums of money,
allegedly killed 10 people after robbing the United Bank for Africa,
Intercontinetal Bank, a subsidiary of Access Bank and Guaranty
Trust Bank.
The robberies were said to have lasted about one hour. Our
correspondent learnt that some police stations in the town were
hurriedly closed as a result of the robbery attacks.
A source informed our correspondent that the robbers,
numbering over 20, stormed the banks with AK 47 rifles and
other dangerous weapons.
The robbers, who came in with exotic cars including Toyota JP,
Mecedez Benz, and Honda Accord, were said to have operated
without being challenged by security agents.
Many travelers, coming from the south and heading to the north,
hurriedly were reported to have turned back to avoid falling preys
to the robbers.
The source said many shops and other banks in the town quickly
closed for the day.
