US ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie, condemned the 'violence' as a 'political tool' with 'no place' in the country and urged people to vote regardless. A man is seen being taken out of the building after the tear gas is thrown. The building was evacuated after the incident

The proposed land deal is a precondition set by the EU to give Kosovans the ability to travel visa-free and the eventual membership to the European Union. Opposition MP's are seen here throwing the tear gas canisters across the 120-seat assembly. The gas was released in Kosovo's parliament by opposition MP's to stop the controversial land-deal vote going ahead with Montenegro. MP's were expected to vote on the controversial agreement when the Self-Determination Movement party threw tear gas canisters in the assembly as the vote on the long-pending land-deal was about to start. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5528987/Kosovo-pass-border-deal-tear-gas-attack.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44

One feature of the prison is the use of glass on arrival, prisoners will be able to see into the buildings in an attempt to make it less traumatic. Lead design architect Thomas Ruus Christensen said of Ny Anstalt: 'You can't escape the prison because it's surrounded by a big wall, but you can look at the view and escape in your mind and that's important. He adds that the prison's layout, which is on three levels, means that amount ofinmates in one area can be controlled, and inmates can be kept separate if needs be.' The guards don't need to carry weapons, and can develop better relationships with the prisoners, which is essential to the concept of rehabilitation.'

The 86,000 square feet project was built as an answer to Greenland's lack of closed prisons, which resulted in more dangerous inmates being sent to Herstedvester, in Denmark. This resulted in a language barrier between the guards in Denmark who generally do not speak Greenlandic and the inmates transported to the Danish prison. Within this Greenlandic prison are communal areas for prisoners to socialise in, and a sports centre, library and church.

A 'humane prison' is set to open next year in Greenland, as an answer to the country's lack of resources for more dangerous criminals. Ny Anstalt is located in Nuuk, the capital of the country, and is set to open in 2019. It is the product of a competition for a contract to design a new prison. The theory behind humane prisons is that inmates staying in more civilised prisons will not be as isolated or institutionalized when they return to society. The penitentiary has 76 cells of 130 square feet, with 40 of them closed for more dangerous prisoners and 36 open. Inmates with privileges will be able to go into the city to work and make money, but will have to travel back to their cells in the evening. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5514349/The-humane-prison-built-Greenland.html lalasticlala, Mynd44

Rolls Royce has already tested its enormous Trent XWB-97 engine (pictured) in flight. With a fan diametre of almost ten feet it can produce 97,000lb of thrust during take-off
|
Dubbed the largest jet engine in the world, GE9X's front fans span 11 feet in diameter, its inlet duct measures 18 feet by 12 feet and can generate 100,000 pounds of thrust. This massive engine is the first working prototype that was developed to power Boeing's 777X aircraft and is was first tested at the firm's boot camp for engines near Peebles, Ohio. Testing of the engine was seen as a critical step. It will have the largest front fan in the world, GE says, at 134 inches (11 feet) in diameter, while its inlet duct measures 18 feet (215 inches) by 12 feet (145 inches).
|
Incredible footage has revealed the moment that the world's biggest jet engine took to the skies for the first time, ahead of its planned maiden commercial flight in 2020. The huge GE9X powerplant, which is as wide and tall as the fuselage of a Boeing 737, is being built for the latest version of the firm's long-haul 777, the 777X 'megaplane'. General Electric has now begun flight trials of the prototype, after delays caused by technical problems stopped tests originally planned for late last year. The GE9X was attached to the plane alongside smaller engines to allow engineers to put it through the motions of flight without risking the safety of passengers onboard. It features a massive fan stretching 134 inches in diameter, more than 11 feet, and fits into a 14-and-a-half-foot nacelle. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-5509063/Watch-worlds-biggest-jet-engine-skies.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44

These horrific pictures show the inside of a Vietnamese cat meat market where pets are skinned and butchered for a delicacy known as 'little tiger.' A cat rescuer, identified only as Quyen, filmed inside the market in Quan Binh Tan, Ho Chi Minh City, last month in a bid to raise awareness about the trade. Cat meat, or 'little tiger' as it is known, is believed to be a source of strength and feline-like agility in Vietnam as well as thought to ward off bad luck and dishes can go for up to £57. Quyen's video shows some of the cats are wearing collars, suggesting they could have been snatched from loving homes and are now awaiting their fate of being killed, cooked and sold. Reports suggest Vietnam banned cat restaurants in 1997 during a rat plague but Ms Brown says the industry has thrived despite the law. She claimed 'little tiger' meat is so popular, many of the cats are smuggled in tightly-packed trucks from neighbouring China and Laos to fuel the demand. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5504559/Inside-sickening-Vietnamese-CAT-meat-market.html

Up to 10 people have been killed when a newly installed pedestrian bridge spanning several lanes of traffic collapsed at Florida International University on Thursday. Cars were waiting for the lights to change when the 950-ton 'instant bridge', which was installed in just six hours on Saturday, crumbled and fell on the waiting traffic on the busy, seven lane 8th Street, which runs from downtown Miami all the way to the Everglades. A motorist captured the aftermath, seconds after the collapse, as the bridge disappeared and dust rose from the rubble.

The safety agency said in documents that it began the probe after receiving three complaints, including one from a driver from Georgia who reported that the steering wheel in a 2015 Fusion fell into their lap when turning into a gas station. Two other people reported that the bolt attaching the wheel to the steering column came loose while driving and had to be retightened at a repair shop. At the time the agency had no reports of crashes or injuries. Ford isn't the only manufacturer to issue a recall for steering wheels coming off. In February, Hyundai recalled 43,900 vehicles which were at risk of the steering wheel breaking away from the steering column. That recall affected the 2018 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport SUVs.
|
Under pressure from U.S. regulators, Ford is recalling nearly 1.4 million midsize cars in North America because the steering wheels can detach from the steering column and drivers could lose control. The recall covers certain Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ cars from the 2014 through 2018 model years. Ford says steering wheel bolts can loosen over time. The company says it knows of two crashes and one injury caused by the problem. Dealers will replace the bolts with longer ones that have more aggressive threads and a nylon patch to stop them from coming loose. Owners will be notified by mail the week of April 30, and parts are expected to be available by then. Just over 1.3 million cars in the U.S. are being recalled, with the rest in Canada and Mexico. The recall comes about five months after the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation into steering wheels falling off of Fusions from the 2014 through 2016 model years. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5499877/Ford-recalls-1-4M-cars-steering-wheel-come-loose.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44
