PoliticsRe: Rivers Elders Reject Biafra by ezeagu(m): 3:37am On Nov 13, 2015
It's a bit encouraging that I haven't seen any Igbo Rivers group or non-governmental Igbo leader from Rivers or otherwise condemn these peaceful protesters, yet. Until an Igbo community in Rivers condemns these protesters, or outrightly rejects a 'Biafra', all other messages are irrelevant.

NB: "Port Harcourt" is Igboland, Igbo people do not confine themselves to that fabrication called 'south east' and 'south south'.

Their body is itching them to use brute force against these protesters.

They should be reminded of what happened with Boko Haram.

I know Nigeria has a 1960s aged government, but this isn't 1967.

I remember watching a music video of his sometime in 2006, I don't remember which, and I saw his name spelt out in full thus: kanyechike (in Igbo would mean, 'let's give God all power'). I was shocked to say the least. Till today, I have tried to find that video or recollect which music video it is, but cannot. However, Kanye West has remained silent on this.
Are you sure it wasn't Chike the film director?

He's just one guy. You are talking of a wholesale replacement of the current Igbo ruling class with a new set of incorruptible politicians ready to forgo the massive oil wealth in the SS for a decades' long industrialization drive in the east. How is that gonna happen? What ideological foundation will power this revolution?
All these your questions are pointless, you useless British made country is falling back to its original pieces and there's little you can do about it.

I stumbled across this article about Igbo slaves in Martinique containing surviving roll-call of all Ibo slaves shipped from Bonny, with names spelt using French standards which the author tried as possible to spell them using standard Igbo orthography.

According to that...

Aimé 'Eme' Césaire

https://s12.postimg.org/lad6ttxe5/Aime_Cesaire_Jeune.png

Poet and politician from Martinique and part of the Negritude movement, apparently he said he's of Igbo descent through slaver so maybe this isn't relevant here, but his first name Aimé (Aim is pronounced 'Em' in French) is from the Igbo name Eme.

Nnenna Freelon was born Chinyere Nnenna Pierce. I don't get it. How did she end up with two Igbo names?

Speaking of Chinyere, there is a Surinamese athlete named Chinyere Pigot. She doesn't appear to have recent Igbo roots either.
It's strange because Igbo culture isn't generally one of the more marketed cultures, but many people have changed their names even their family names. Maybe family ancestry, who knows.

CultureRe: Who Was Ezechime? by ezeagu(m): 11:10pm On Nov 11, 2015
Donarozzi:
From all my research, Ezechime was a wealthy man who moved from Arochukwu to Nri-Awka area during the slave trade. Some of the Umuezechime clan, especially Onicha-Ugbo, said that Ezechime came from Nri-Awka axis, while the people of Nri-Awka axis said that Ezechime originally came from Arochukwu, settled in Nri-Akwa area (Northern Igbo), and founded many communties in both the Northern and Western areas of Igboland. (Note: "Ezechime" is sometimes spelled "Ezechima" in some Igbo dialects).
a Ugbo, Onicha Olona, Issele Ukwu, Issele Azagba, Issele Mkpitime, Obior, Onicha Mmiri, which are all part of the Ezechima clan in Igboland.
The dates don't match up Eze Chima or Chime is supposed to be 16th century, Arochukwu was only established (taken from the Ibibio) in the 17th century, the slave trade kicked off (in Igboland) in the 17th century, and more in the mid 18th century.

It's very easily explained that Eze Chima was among, or, a leader of a group of possibly Igbo-speaking people who lived in Benin as many different ethnic groups did, it was around his time Benin (Idia) started snatching lands from foreigners because of war.

George N'Namdi

George N'Namdi is an art collector. Him and his wife decided to change their family name to N'Namdi (popular name, perhaps because of Nnamdi Azikiwe, a pan-African icon and once a member of an American Greek sorority).

This one is a bit questionable because it hasn't been confirmed, and it seems even Ne-Yo doesn't know the origin citing Chinese (even thous no Chinese name Chimere exists). Ne-Yo is an American singer/song writer.
