Better thank the British colonialist because if not for them you would have been born a slave in a Muslim household

Instead, an average Nigerian treks through Libya and becomes a slave in a Muslim household. Go figures. Thanks to Britain!

Nonsense.

The Sokoto Islamic Caliphate prides itself over the conquest and enslavement of fellow black Africans.

The mainstay of the Caliphate was a slave based economic model.

Kano was a major slave market that supplied Slaves for the trans-saharan slave trade.

Slavery was officially abolished in Northern Nigeria as late as 1936!

Only if you were this angry at westerners who owned you till 1960 and probably beyond. Which side of Nigeria didn't sell slaves?

Let Yorubas deal with the Chinese at their own convenience. We are mostly concerned about the insolence of our own African neighbors who have chosen to be so antagonistic to their fellow southerners in their cities. I do hope for the sake of igbos in general that a riot doesn’t breakout soon. The level of anti igbo sentiments is at an all time high in yorubaland.

Is this how you're dealing with the Chinese who are known to dominate economies and release pennies to locals? https://www.nairaland.com/4205902/osun-partners-chinese-firm-establish

Politics / Isn't It Embarrassing Comparing Third World Nigerian Regions? by ezeagu(m): 9:34pm On Nov 30, 2017
There seems to be a string of threads about which Nigerian geopolitical zone is the most developed. This isn't just strange since (black) Africa is being fingered on all sides by Arabs, China, India, and a whole line of foreigners, but mostly because Nigeria is a huge crumbling third world slum, yes, all of it, yes, even VI, Victoria Island does not have the infrastructure and planning of a low income neighbourhood in the Netherlands, what it has is very big and overpriced houses...

So I'm wondering, ethnic masturbation aside, is it not very ridiculous and embarrassing to compare regions of a very backward state, for example, for people who have dignity and are generally aware of global standards for cities and infrastructure (including foreigners who lurk here), is it not a form of self humiliation?

Are you be any means referring to the Yoruba and Igbo Cold War? If yes, that Cold War would soon metamorphose to a real civil war in Nigeria. We are appalled with what is happening in Libya but the Yoruba race cannot continue to turn a blind eye to igbo hate. These wars online would soon spill offline and there shall be massive loss of lives and destruction of property. Yorubas are not the cause of Igbo misfortune in Nigeria. Igbo should rather look inward and go back enmasse to the east.

Okay, so when are you going to start a "cold war" with Libya and Chinese and Indians? Surely if the "Yoruba race" is so powerful that they can stand on their own, they're going after the Chinese and Indians who are encroaching them all around and abusing their people in Lagos in Chinese, Lebanese, and Indian owned businesses?

You've spoken well Reno. We Africans are our own worst enemy. South Africans unleashing terror attacks on other blacks staying in their land, and Libyans auctioning their fellow African Brothers as slaves shows lack of unity amongst us. It bleeds my heart to seeing our leaders make little or no effort on issues like this. I think it's high time we reduced foreign intervention on how to making decisions and rule our countries here in Africa . We're Africans fam! We all need to stand up, unite, build and bring peace to our continent!!

PS: Y'all fam on NL that can't comment without bringing tribalism into whatever u gon say. You are no different bro...

It's actually to the best interest of an average black African that their neighbour succeeds. It is not possible to have an island of prosperity while others are oppressed by outsiders, those outsiders will gang up and spoil whatever you have worked for.

But it's the same Africans that manged the Benin Empire, Songhai, etc. It's easy to say they are stupid, but how do you account for the past. Africa's problem is ignorance and laziness and possibly even fear.

I don't believe anybody should forget or lose their identity, the point is that there are levels to these problems and protesting about which land is owned by who is not the biggest problem now.

If you look at nairaland's politics section, it's still filled with ethnic bickering despite the news that thousands of Nigerian youths are being traded as slaves in the Arab world (not just Libya).

One thing black Africans in general do not understand is that no matter how much animosity there is between ethnic groups, all other groups are looking to exploit and even possibly wipe out black Africans because they see them as weak links.

How is it that there is a protest against an ethnic group in Nigeria, but the worry over youths in Libya has not gone past the internet in Nigeria? Is it because it's easier to fight inside, or because the average black African does not have the guts to face Arabs, Chinese, Indians, and other races? Imagine if this enslavement were to have happened in Ghana, there would have been a war between the two countries citizens, but not a pim has been said to Arabs.

Therein lies your problem.

Politics / What Is The Alternative To Recycled Leaders? by ezeagu(m): 8:30pm On Nov 27, 2017
Looking at the suggestions for 2019, it seems like most people have already resolved that the presidential race is guaranteed between Atiku and Buhari, and perhaps another candidate for the boneyard. Is it not entirely possible for Nigerians to choose a younger and completely different set of leaders even in governorship, LGA, representatives, etc?

DISGRACEFUL...............................

WE ARE ALL VERY HAPPY FOR THEM AND WISH THEM A LONG AND HEALTHY MARRIAGE.

HOWEVER, IT WAS VERY WRONG OF THEM TO GO AND COMPLETE THEIR MARRIAGE IN THE SAME USELESS S.A. THAT SLAUGHTERS NIGERIANS LIKE CHICKEN.

EVERY CELEBRITY THAT DECIDES TO GO OUTSIDE NIGERIA FOR THEIR WEDDING AND HONEYMOON IS DOING NIGERIA A GREAT DIS-SERVICE.

BY TAKING SUCH A BIG EVENT TO ANOTHER COUNTRY, THEY ARE DEPRIVING NIGERIANS AND THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY AN OPPORTUNITY TO EARN A LIVING FROM SUCH A BIG OCCASION AS THIS.

JUST IMAGINE THE COOKS, BAKERS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, HOTELS, TAXI DRIVERS, WEDDING PLANNERS, COW, GOAT, CHICKEN, AND FISH SELLERS, AS WELL AS RAW FOOD SELLERS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN DENIED AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A LIVING THROUGH THESE CELEBRITIES.

IN FUTURE, LET OUR CELEBRITIES HELP OUR ECONOMY AND HARD WORKING NIGERIANS TO SURVIVE BY PATRONIZING OUR NIGERIAN FACILITIES, RATHER THAN GOING ABROAD.

JUST IMAGINE THE AMOUNT THE SOUTH AFRICAN HOTELS, CATERERS AND MANY MORE COULD HAVE MADE THAT NIGERIANS WERE DENIED.........!

You think if Nigerians Africans had this type of brain that the entire Africa would be where it is today?

Bunch of biased and sentimental bigots! undecided

This is why those Igbo groups who are dancing to the flute of the pied piper and rejecting Igbo identity are only doing themselves. Everybody sees them as Igbo in the end.

That's the problem with the South Easterners. They don't care the source of your wealth. Just make the money through any means and they'll celebrate you, and throwing you chieftaincy title here and there.

Come to think of this; a well known notorious killer still bag a chieftaincy title in the land. Shame!!! cry

Let Evans gain freedom today and you'll see him been celebrated over there.

Interesting how Rivers has now turned to south east, reverse land grabbing I suppose.

"They stated that apart from the Igbo based ancient Ogam inscriptions found in British Isles, another proof that Igbo people lived in and colonised the British Isles in pre-historic times is the presence of numerous Igbo words in English language such as doro (draw), Mmanwu (Man); Saa (Say), Ukwe (Choir), Ekpere (prayer), Mfe (fair), Okuko (rooster), Mmiri (Marine), ga (go) among others."

Some of these words are not of English origin, they are well known as French, and some ultimately from Rome, but I'm sure some will say Igbo people founded Rome as well.

It's not by force to be Israeli.
