Sincerely apologize if I sounded insultive. My point is : Sometimes when a question is asked here it's not because the individual is lazy or unserious, for every knowledge acquired there's always a starting point. SOMETHINGS you know today you were probably oblivious of MONTHS ago. I particularly find it quite disturbing when people seize the opportunity to make fun of these individuals or bully them.
No one knows it all. Be polite, or don't respond at all(IMO).
OK Sir!!... I will stop responding on the thread.

this system here, where everybody here applies to tier C and D schools en masse is just terrible. I go to college confidential and thegradcafe and see Indians and Pakistanis with less stats getting into superb publics schools fully funded.

Good morning people,
I have been a silent follower on this thread, my profile goes thus. On May17th 2017 I went for my first interview and I was denied the reason the VO gave then was my school Park University Missouri is a "very small school". I got admitted for spring 2018 into Bowie State University, Maryland and I have gotten two denials again. I am really confused as to whether to give up on this dream. My last transcripts goes thus

VO~ why are you going to USA?
Me~ I'm going for my Masters degree in public administration at Bowie State University Maryland.
VO~ why Bowie state University?
Me~ The scope of the corriculum at Bowie state university is deep, courses like public budgeting, public personnel management and human resource Managment will expressly address the problem of lack of expertise in the Nigerian civil service.
VO~ Have you ever travelled out of Nigeria before?
Me~No, I have never had any reason to leave my country.
VO~Do you have any international degree?
No, I don't.
VO~Did you write any standardized test?
Me- I wrote TOEFL on September 23 2016 and I handed the result over to her wished she viewed and after that stated I'm ineligible.

Please I will really appreciate, advises on whether to pay another application fee and fire back since school resumes January 22nd.
God bless.
1. You do not have stellar academic qualifications
2. Your only standardized testing (TOEFL is not great as the only test for grad school) has a very terrible score
3. You do not have significant ties to Nigeria
4. your DS-160 info (employment history et al) is very very mediocre hence it will literarily take "a miracle" to get an F-1 Visa.

Then identify a major, look for a good school, find out the admission requirements (i'd advise that you take the SAT and TOEFL) and apply. Good luck!

Hello house, I had my undergraduate degree about twenty years ago and didn't bother going back to school, but now I want to go back for my masters, do I stand a chance of getting a study visa? My bachelors degree was Bachelor of Agriculture and now I want to go for MS in Agronomy or Crop and Soil science all Agriculture fields, but I'm a business lady, running my own business, please house what do you think? I've also worked in some administrative roles in the past, should I go for MBA instead? But I really prefer Agriculture
well ma'am , the question most likely to come from our jolly good visaofficer is "Why aren't you considering Nigerian schools", the chief reason being that your foray back into education has little to do with career advancement or specialised knowledge , and since you're a business woman with an active business with X cash turnover, it becomes even more trouble to explain to the VO why you want to dump your means of livelihood for a degree after 2 decades. Your case isn't impossible, but it has too much immigrant intent flying out of it; so you're going to need a super convincing back story here.

White guys marrying successful black ladies while black niggers are marrying old white ladies.
fallacy of hasty generalization. interracial marriages are still not mainstream in America , and black men marry successful white, black, Indian women etc. besides serena is not exactly what black men describe as "womanly woman", and what's the point of matrimony with what you are not sexually attracted to.

Nonsense, see a psychiatrist before things get out hand, and if you're taking recreational drugs, now is the time to get clean.

A good number of them hide under the excuse of "no equipment" but are solely after the money. These guys get cheap as fvck education in Naija, dump the helpless masses and go for higher paying rates outside the country. Even if we had equipment, many of them would still take the PLAB or whatever exam.

I recently read an article about how doctors and engineers, who brave dangers in explosion ridden Gaza, work together to 3D print basic medical equipment and they aim for much more than that.

Sure, we've got major issues with corruption and underfunding. However, their response doesn't solve the problem. It only hurts more people in the long run.
every Nigerian believes his/ her problem is money, up until that money is given and the problem even worsens, they remind of me a certain ASUU who believe that quality education is directly proportional to their salaries and allowances, and yet when their demands are acceded to, it seems like the tertiary education sector becomes worse.

Can you supplement this claim with verifiable evidence?
fortunately, chinua Achebe had a quote for this kind of Apocryphal history, "Until the lions have their own historian, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter".

Hello everyone in the house.. Thanks for the wealth of information you all are spreading. I have an issue with the university I applied to, the name of the university is California state University Sacramento, I applied on 21st of August and till now, whenever I check my admission status, it showing 'pending department decision'.. I am really beginning to lose hope. I sent an email to the graduate admissions on 30th of October, the reply I got is the attached photo.. Please, should still be hopeful or just forget about the admission.. Thanks in anticipation for your contributions..
this isn't a guarantee that you will get admitted it simple means that either they received huge volume of applications or are really scrutinizing the ones they have. Graduate admissions committee are filled with faculty who either "publish or perish", so between Graduate supervision, grant chasing, conference talks and paper writing a lot of faculty are quite busy, especially if they are young, so the admission review may take longer, but if you're confident enough that you beat their averages by a long shot, then you can remain hopeful.

Good morning house. Please I applied to CSU and have gotten admitted and received my I-20. I want to book an appointment but my passport will be expiring June, 2018 which means it has about 8months validity on it. Do I need to renew it before I book an appointment or can it be used that way? Thanks
it is advisable to have at least 6 months left before your interview, so I think you're in the clear sir.

Brother, I need ur advice. I have pm you no reply yet from you. I got a pre-masters admission in florida Atlantic university.
What do you think about the school and the program as regards to getting visa approval.
most addendum degrees like the pre masters were designed by universities to cater to rich immigrant students from Asia and the middle east since they find it hard to get into the normal programs and are seen as cash cows by university presidents. and so, unless you fit into that financial bracket , it would be hard convincing a VO that you want to spend trump sized $$ on a pre-masters programme. it won't be impossible to get an F-1 in your case, but you need a super convincing back story.

There is nothing wrong if someone above 30 is sponsored by his parents.People are quick to believe on certain myths. That was how they claimed community colleges are red flags, but in reality Nigerians still fill up those schools.
FACT: Most Nigerian you seen in those community colleges came to America with their F-1 Visas stipulated for a 4 year University/College. The community College System was not designed for Immigrant students and Nigerians in their infinite foolishness are wrecking up a good system once again. if you like keep encouraging people to waste 64,000NGN at Walter carrington in the name of community college F-1 visa. More and more Nigerians are making a mess of the system, and will continue to make it harder for even those with genuine intentions to get their F-1.

Try to understand me brother. I already had B.Sc Accounting from AAUA, and I asked the agent that helped me process the last application for masters, but instead, he did undergraduate studies in Biochemistry because I did science in SSCE.
I'm asking if from your wealthy experience, you've encountered such, a little advice could help.
Thank you.
whenever anybody (Visa officers, Admissions committee) ask "why this course", they are not looking to hear your life story (like " ever since I was a child..." wahala), as a grown adult they are expecting realistic reasons that will ultimately be of benefit to you. As an an accounting degree individual going to a business school, it's most likely that you are ready to transition from the number crunching to more managerial and executive roles, and your experience (hoping you have that) in accounting (and maybe auditing) better suits you for top level financial advisory and analytical roles. so when faced with that question, a likely answer would be "I am confident that with my experience as an accountant, a business degree would greatly improve my chances of an early transition into executive roles , advisory roles and top notch consulting. which is line with my goal of taking one step further in the corporate and financial ladder"
