Eko Ile:Keep your problems in the South-West. History tends to repeat itself, and we in the South-East do not want to be drawn into your politics. Keep it internally instead of externally. ![]() |
We in the South-East are watching with interest, about what is happening in the South-West. Let us hope that this is just a war of "words." We do not want to see another crisis that always forces the other regions to get involved. ![]() |
There is fire on the mountain top. . . |
These crimes in the South-West needs to stop. ACN needs to handle this. |
^^^ I agree with you. The people of Abia are very industrious. T.A. Orji needs to tap into this though. |
mithel:My advice to you is to travel up North and look at the roads compared to the roads in the South and you will know answer. Even though the Northerners are quite poor, the level of infrastructure in that region is actually very impressive. The emirs and the Northern elite may not like to educate the masses, but they definitely like to improve the infrastructure in their region. The former Eastern region hasn't really had many central positions to direct development of our region, therefore it makes no sense to mention the region. |
Now some of SW brethren want to say the Ikwerre are Igbo now. If they are, PH (Iguocha) is definitely Igbo. |
jason123:You will not get the chance to tell, because I am only on NL temporarily. ![]() |
Let us be honest with ourselves, the SE will never see eye to eye with the SW and neither would the SW see eye to eye with the SE. We have different interest. There is no such thing as "Southern Unity." And I see nothing wrong with that. How can I count them as friends in politics, when I have to continue to watch my back? |
Just because politicians from the SW squandered their chance to bring development to their region when they were at the center of power, does not mean other groups will choose that same fate. Their leaders are known to amass huge wealth while they are in politics. Look at Bankole, Obasanjo and now Emperor Tinubu. |
Why are some of SW brethren making this thread about Igbos? Some of them need to learn to stay on topic. |
2mch:What are you talking about? |
Eziachi:That is their problem. They refuse to look in the mirror. ![]() |
There is fire on the mountain and nobody seems to be on the run. Oh there is fire on the mountain top. ![]() |
This is just the beginning. One man in the South-West cannot become powerful. Let us just hope there is not a crisis in the region, that will force other regions to get involved. Is this how an Odua Republic will look like? |
Oni, youth group blast Tinubu, ACN over attack on Awo family FORMER Ekiti State governor, Chief Olusegun Oni, and a group, Yoruba Youths Consultative Forum (YYCF), have tackled former Lagos State governor and chief financier of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over Monday’s attack on the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s family by the Chairman of the Editorial Board of The Nation, Sam Omatseye. Omatseye, in his column on the back page of the newspaper, had launched a tirade against the matriarch of the family, Yeye Oodua Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo and her children, describing them in uncouth language, which prompted Mama Awolowo to react in a statement yesterday. But, reacting to the attack in a statement yesterday, Oni appealed to the Awolowo Dynasty, particularly the matriarch, not to bit an eyelid over the “garrulousness of any irresponsible person” against the family. He added: “No human being, either plucked or grafted or born by a woman, can succeed at demystifying either the Awolowo family or the Awolowo legacy.” The statement signed by his chief media aide, Wale Ojo-Lanre, added: “The Awolowo Dynasty was planted on an unshakable godly platform of truth, honesty, unalloyed commitment and genuine service to humanity devoid of selfish aggradisement. It is a platform, which no temporary political hurricane, tsunami or tornado stoked by any leadership-seeking irredentist can erode away.” Oni, who described the vitriolic attack on the entire Awolowo family as an insult on the Yoruba nation said: “No one dare ridicule Sir Ahmadu Bello in the North as Sam Omatseye did to Awolowo in The Nation newspaper and expect to be praised. “We should all look beyond Omatseye, the agent of destruction, but the mastermind, who is desirous of forcing himself into the big shoe of the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. “Whoever is behind this latest attempt at denigrating the Awolowo family should learn from the fact that those who tried it in the past met their doom at the point of their glory. “Only an evil and idiotic person who lacked proper home training and is bereft of any historical sense will open his mouth and employ uncouth and rude language to denigrate the Awolowo Dynasty. Whoever does that is on the way to irredeemable perdition and destruction. “The Awolowo Dynasty is not a business for those who cannot point to their origin to feast on for undue publicity, attention seeking stunts or any blind and bland foolish irredentism.” The former governor pointed out that those who are engaging “some poor fellow” to denigrate the late sage and by extension ridicule the Yoruba race just to further their political expansionist agenda would give account of their deeds before God someday. Also yesterday, the YYCF said the incessant sponsored media attack on the Awolowo family by was an insult on the entire Yoruba race, that hold the late sage in a high esteem. The group said “it is only a Yoruba person, who is a naughty person, that would speak evil against the late sage and his family.” YYCF, in a statement signed by its Director of Communications, Ayo Olorunsola, warned Tinubu and his “political almajiri” to desist from attacking the Awolowo family or face the wrath of the youth. The statement says: “Our attention has been drawn to the highly ridiculous and blasphemous article written by The Nation newspaper’s Editorial Board Chairman, Mr. Sam Omatseye etitled; “Awo family without an Awo. “Though going by the character of the writer and his sponsor, one would have simply ignored the article. But, an attempt by anyone, no matter his or her moral standing, to bring the revered name of Chief Obafemi Awolowo to opprobrium cannot be ignored by any Yoruba person worth his or her birth. “Most importantly, considering the source, motivator and intention of the article, we cannot keep silent, even when we understand the dilemma of Tinubu and his ilk. “In their desperation for Yoruba leadership, Tinubu and his political hanger-ons must know that no matter how hard they tried, they cannot equal the achievements of Chief Awolowo and the good name he left behind. “This is because Awolowo never sought to purchase Yoruba leadership with ill-gotten wealth, using corrupt judges and highly compromised media. The late sage simply became Yoruba leader on merit! “Therefore, Tinubu and his hatchet writers are warned to desist from disparaging and blackmailing the Awolowo family simply because the family has refused to be conscripted into the ‘Yoruba leadership for sale’ agenda.” http://www.compassnewspaper.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=7653:oni-youth-group-blast-tinubu-acn-over-attack-on-awo-family&catid=308:headlines&Itemid=600 |

Sect kills pastor, church worker in north Nigeria (AP) – 15 minutes ago MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AP) — Police say sect members have gunned down a pastor and church official in Nigeria's restive northeast. Borno state police chief Mohammed Abubakar said Thursday that assailants killed Rev. David Usman and the assistant secretary at the Church of Christ in Nigeria Tuesday in the city of Maiduguri. The police blame a radical Muslim sect locally known as Boko Haram for the attack. They believe the gunmen also participated in blasts and attacks hours earlier that left at least ten people dead. Boko Haram is responsible for a rash of killings which have targeted security officers, politicians and clerics, both Muslim and Christian, in the area over the last year. Nigeria's president told journalists at the U.N. headquarters Wednesday he would consider negotiating with the group to restore peace. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110609/ap_on_re_af/af_nigeria_violence |
This is only the beginning though. History tends to repeat itself. ![]() |

The PDP "leadership" has finally come to their senses. |
PDP accepts Tambuwal, Ihedioha BARELY 24 hours after the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said it could not congratulate Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for dumping the zoning arrangement of the party, the leadership of the party, yesterday, made a U-turn and stressed it readiness to work with him. Speaking yesterday when he received Speaker Tambuwal and his Deputy, Emeka Ihedioha at the National Secretariat of the party, Acting National Chairman, Dr. Bello Haliru Mohammed, urged the leadership of the House to ensure that the party was carried along in the appointment of other key officers of the lower legislative chamber to ensure that other geo-political zones in the country had a fair deal. The U-turn was on the heels of President Goodluck Jonathan’s congratulation of the lawmakers on their election. “Now that what has happened has happened, the remaining positions in the House, you should allow the party to look at how we can balance it so that the other zones are taken care of before we come back to you to give you the chance to lead your people in electing to reflect balance in the leadership of the House. Thank you very much for this visit, we accept your apology,” Mohammed. The turnaround, which is expected to boost internal harmony in the ruling PDP, came as Tambuwal took steps to reassure President Jonathan of the support of the legislators just as the South-West Leaders Forum yesterday rejected the election of Tambuwal, describing the process as a cheat to the people of the zone, saying it was a wake up time for the people of the West to rise against what it described as near political oblivion. PDP ‘ll work with Tambuwal — Mohammed Apparently dismissing fears that the PDP would move against Tambuwal and Ihedioha, the party chairman said: “I can assure you the party will work with you. The government of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan, will work with you. And we will make sure that the government work with you so that the mutual cooperation that we have developed in the last 12 years will continue. The PDP has a majority both in the Senate and in the House. Therefore, the people of Nigeria will not forgive us if we do not use this majority to work for the development and transformation of Nigeria within the time available to us. https://vml1.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Tambuwal-Ihedioha.jpg http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/06/pdp-accepts-tambuwal-ihedioha/ |
Nigeria wastes a lot of money on many things. |
My brothers are doing something the Nigerian government cannot do, that is to refine oil. Instead of imprisoning them, they should hire them and see the secret to their success in refining oil. The Nigerian government stifles development. |
They are rich while their congregations are poor. ![]() Only a fool would give money to these supposed men of God. |
This is not a small feat. My Igbo brothers are too much o! |
This is welcomed news! |
Kobojunkie:I thought Rvers is in the South-South? When possible bad news occur, then it is a South-East state? I wonder about you. . . ![]() |
Before people comment, where is the source? |

If they are, PH (Iguocha) is definitely Igbo.
(that is if I am still in NL
