Kobojunkie, I believe religion has no place in politics.

As a preacher he should know that.

"My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence" (John 18:36)

I am disappointed a supposed "man of God" would enter politics.

Finally spell H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E?
This is about the innocent people who lost their lives! And to show that is not right to mock them. I don't care if you are Yoruba, Igbo, Edo etc!

When you and your friends were going about on Nairaland saying Awo commited suicide, that was not mocking the dead? And you didn't cross the line?
What does Awolowo have to do with the innocent SOUTHERNERS (Igbo, Yoruba, Edo, Ibibio, Ijaw etc) who were killed in the North?

Saying nonsense like he hopes the Hausa make suya out of my people. How do you think I am going to react? You cannot defend him. No one can!

Do not bring Awolowo into this thread.

This thread is about him mocking the death of innocent people in the North.

A barbaric and inhuman act that he has continued to gloat.

And it would seem people agree with me. He crossed the line! angry angry angry

I hope you are coming to the realization, of what I have been talking about. This is what you have to battle. Now the North is screaming marginalization. Even though they have been in control of Nigeria for most of the history of the nation.

Would the SS people target innocent civilians? The answer is NO! They would probably have attacked the oil pipelines.

Some of the pictures that I posted were of innocent Yorubas who were hurt as well in the conflict up North. What do you have to say about that? They did not deserve to die! There is a FINE line that you do not cross.

You do not mock someone else's suffering. You do not mock the dead. That is an abomination throughout most African cultures. Even if you are joking, some things should not be said.

Of course I am furious!  angry

Show me where I have mocked the dead! Show me where I have said such nonsense!

As long as it is aimed at Ibos, there is no point stopping the riots.

Its time we did something about the burgeoning Igbo populaton in the North.  Since they make up 70% of the population in the North, we need to trim that population to a more manageable size, like 2-5% cool

Fav, as much as I want to believe you, I just have to tell you the actions of your people communicate a different message in its entirety. The bombing of churches, the slaying of non Northerners at the slightest provocation ( A good example would be the Danish cartoons), the list is endless. I must say what you intend doing here, which I presume to be changing the southern perception of the North, would be difficult enough if we where blind. The fact that we can see and hear, makes it even more difficult.
Thank you! I understand that namfav is trying to defend his people, but their actions have shown the people of the South, time and time again, how they truly view us. How can a Hausa be friendly with his neighbor one day, and the next day he is using a machete to try and kill his neighbor. It just doesn't make sense to me. They do not value any Southern lives!  angry

grin grin grin grin grin grin u see SE voted for a SS president and SS would do the same for SE now

but do not be in the illustion that SS would follow the SE in secession, it would be very silly and a suicide mission.

SS has over 50 ethnic groups which means it is easy to use 1 against the other. so be careful

do not decieved at all. even NE would not go with NW in secession not to talk of SS and SE

moreover it seems like you people take SS a part of "igbo empire" before the war. stop this rubbish and come to terms with the reality
Frankly, I just want the North to leave Nigeria. That region serves no purpose, but only death and destruction.

Once the North leaves, then we, the people of the South can decide our own destiny.

I actually have no problem with President Jonathan dressed in such a way.

It is better he dress in his indigenous clothing, than the Western attire used by most African Heads of State.

Did the hightlighted actually happen? That he couldnt be safely looked after in the police station?

they last heard from him when he was running to the police station for refuge but the parents later confirmed that an eyewitness said the rioters threatened to burn the police station if they fail to release him and his three colleagues to them
This is very worrying, if true the police station must be found and the police officers charged. We need to confirm that story and get it to those who can move things forward.
This is very sad. It is getting very upsetting. He ran to the police station, where they should have protected him and the other NYSC members to the mob. How barbaric can these people be?

Post-election Violence Displaces 10,000 in Kano

By Taiye Agbaje
April 22, 2011

At least 10,000 people have been displaced in Kano State following the crisis that engulfed some northern states shortly after last Saturday’s presidential elections, the director general of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said.

Mohammed Sani-Sidi, who led a Special Presidential Committee on the Plight of Displaced People to the Kano State police commissioner, Dan’Azumi Doma, also said not less than 100 people were arrested in connection with the crisis.

The NEMA boss, who commended the swift response of security agencies in controlling the situation, told the displaced people that the team was undertaking on-the-spot assessment inspection of the trouble spots.

He assured them that the government would continue to protect and provide basic need of people in the Internally Displaced Peoples Camps (IDPCs) pending the return of normalcy to the affected communities.

“President Jonathan has directed that we should ensure you are adequately provided with the basic needs as relief materials are being transported to various locations to improve the condition and plights of innocent people,” he said. “So far, many more trucks are being dispatched from our strategic warehouses to meet the demand. However, from the preliminary reports by response agencies, the crises were neither religious nor ethnic, so we should be cautious of inputting sectional sentiments into this.”

No gatherings permitted

Mr Doma told the committee that though properties were destroyed and many injured, there was no loss of life in the state.

“There was no single record of death from the recent incident in Kano and no single corpse was deposited in the mortuary,” he said.

Mr Doma has, however banned all forms of political gathering in the state, saying the police would deal with anyone violating the order.

“No form of political gathering, including rallies and campaigns would be condoned until after the governorship election,” he said.

Mr Doma, who urged leaders of political parties in the State to strictly abide by the directive in the interest of peace and stability, said the action was part of measures taken by the police to checkmate the spread of the violence and reduce apprehension and anxiety among the people, particularly those taking refuge at military and police barracks.

Mr. Doma also pleaded with parents to caution their children and wards against committing acts capable of breaching the peace.

“The Command and indeed other security agencies have commenced investigation to apprehend the sponsors and the brains behind the dastardly acts, no matter how highly placed they are in society,” he said.
