No one said no northern had first class. Many first class did the exam in Abuja.

The scholarship was based on merit alone and not quota system. Once you finish your exam you get your score immediately.

The highest number of successful people then was in southwest, ogun state in particular.

A lot of states in the north didnot have a candidate that qualified which is unusual for them since by quota system they will have more than half of total slot.

But for countries like Nigeria, no significant difference. Most of our power stations are gas or diesel driven.

You are partially right.

But the efficiency of most powerplant is still far higher than ICE (which is less than 40%). The 'rig to wheel' energy conversion efficiency of EV is higher. So even if the batteries are all powered by electricity generated by gas plants, it is still better.

Secondly, pollution generated by powerplant are concentrated at a place and can be easily treated. So less pollution in the city as most powerplants are not located in the city.
