COPYING DOES NOT ALWAYS PAY To solve the problem of giraffing, collaboration and especially copying of other students in exams during my university days in OAU, a professor, Fabayo (fondly called FABRO), came up with an innovative method of mixing students of different faculties and levels together in an exams hall! The effect is such that 400 Level Engineering student would sit next to 200 Level Social Science, 300 Level Science sat next to 100 Level Arts etc. With that, invigilators had nothing to worry about and the students knew that there was no point copying the scripts of each other, for such will be exercise in futility. Such is the political situation in Nigeria presently involving APC, PDP and 2018 defections from APC to PDP, where the latter has simply girrafed, copied and pasted APC's 2014 script without realizing that they are from different faculties and levels! Owing to mental laziness and absence of superior strategist in their fold, they truly didn't do any SWOT (Strength/Weakness/Opportunities/Threats) analysis at all. They just copied and pasted what APC did in 2014, thinking it will work. They mistook APC for PDP, forgot that PMB is not GEJ, that their support bases, loyalty and what need to do to get votes of their supporters are not similar. They also misread the mood and situation of the nation. In the case of GEJ, he met a bad situation and made it worse with corruption, ineptitude, lack of will to act right - which earned him the name; Mr. Clueless. He never stood with the masses and was solely responsible for the deterioration he brought upon tbe country. And for these, majority of the people were disappointed and angry with him. And they wanted him out. But in PMB's case, he met the worst situation, repairs and makes it better. He fights corruption and builds integrity into the system. He has the ideas and will to act right, stands with the masses at all times. Builds decayed infrastructures PDP abandoned, and is not responsible for the problems the country faces in any way or form. And for these majority of the people are not angry with him, but want him to continue. Only a minority who are corruptionists, whose wings have been clipped and their conduit drain pipes on the national treasury blocked, are mad at him. Another big difference: APC during 2014 defection was like an empty brand new house, such that those coming had the luxury of taking up unoccupied rooms, which they moved into with their furniture (party structures) and did the interior decor to their tastes. And so, every defection was entirely value adding. But defecting now from APC to PDP is entirely opposite! PDP is like an old rickety family house where each parents and their children are already unhappy, living uncomfortably in a room per family, and now upon that, defectors want to come in as new occupants of the same rooms, which means that they either will eject the present occupiers, or join in further crowding the already overcrowded and inconvenient rooms. Either way, they will meet stiff resistance, and create crisis within the party, which did not happen to APC in 2014. So, when l see PDP say the present defections from APC to PDP in 2018 is same as PDP to APC in 2014, l immediately know that they have missed the way by 100 miles! It reminds me that using giraffe method to copy and paste from the next student to you in an exam does not work all the time, as proven by Professor Fabro in OAU, Ile-Ife. |

Akeem Yekini, the younger brother of ex Super Eagles star Rashidi Yekini is dead - He died on Sunday, May 6, in Ijagbo, Kwara state, and he has been buried according to Islamic rites - Akeem was said to have been down with malaria for close to one week before his death The family of late former Super Eagles star Rashidi Yekini have been thrown into another mourning following the untimely death of Akeem Yekini. Akeem Yekini, 36, who was one of the two surviving brothers of Rashidi Yekini died on Sunday, May 6, according to the report reaching NAIJ.com from a family member. Younger brother of late Rashidi Yekini dies in Kwara state (photo: NAIJ.com) ''He has been sick for a while, but last Saturday, he was in a bad condition in which we had to rush him to Ilorin where he was treated and we returned the same day. ''But on Sunday morning, he started coughing seriously and vomiting blood, and before we knew what was happening, he died in the process and he has been buried,'' Tajudeen explained to NAIJ.com' Unlike his elder brother Rashidi who played for the Super Eagles scoring 37 goals, Akeem also chose football as a career, but he never had the same level of success like his brother.. His dream was to play in Europe or America, and in the process, he had numerous trials in Brazil and Denmark, but he never signed for any club. His ordeal began after the death of his late brother Rashidi Yekini who died on May, 4 2012, as Akeem had no other means of livelihood than to go into casual work as a labourer He was called for a trial in 2016 by local Nigerian club Gateway FC and Shooting Stars of Ibadan, but Akeem claimed he was had a serious ankle problem which stopped him from playing. Until his death, Akeem Yekini lived together with his mother in Ijagbo, Kwara state. He is survived by two daughters. Previously, NAIJ.com had reported the impoverished condition of the mother of late football star Rashidi Yekini as the family had been living in terrible condition since the death of the Nigerian forward. Sikiratu Yekini is the mother of late Super Eagles star Rashidi Yekini. She confirmed that she has been living from hands to mouth since the demise of her son. She also explained how her late son Rashidi Yekini started his football career when he was young. https://www.naija.ng/1168233-younger-brother-late-rashidi-yekini-dies-kwara-state.html#1168233 |

Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has agreed to join Arsenal, with Alexis Sanchez set to move in the opposite direction in a straight swap. Armenia international Mkhitaryan, 28, will have a medical on Sunday and Monday after the paperwork for his transfer was completed on Saturday. The length of his contract at Arsenal, and his salary, is undisclosed. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had said striker Sanchez, 29, would only join United if Mkhitaryan moved to Arsenal. Looking at Premier League data since each player arrived in England, Sanchez scores with more regularity while Mkhitaryan delivers assists at a quicker rate Looking at Premier League data since Sanchez arrived in England in 2014 and Mkhitaryan joined United in 2016, Sanchez scores with more regularity while Mkhitaryan delivers assists at a quicker rate Sanchez missed Arsenal's 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday because he was travelling to Manchester. "He didn't play because you cannot drive up north and play football at the same time," said Wenger. United boss Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, said a deal to sign Sanchez was "close" following his side's 1-0 win at Burnley on Saturday. The Red Devils beat Arsenal to Mkhitaryan's signature when he signed for the Old Trafford club for £26.3m from Borussia Dortmund in July 2016. He has made 63 appearances for United - 22 this season - scoring 13 goals. Sanchez, meanwhile, has scored 80 goals in 166 appearances for Arsenal since joining them from Barcelona for £35m in July 2014. The Chile international, whose contract Arsenal was due to expire in the summer, had looked set to join Manchester City last August. It emerged this week that City had decided not to pursue their interest in signing Sanchez. However that move fell through on transfer deadline day after Arsenal failed to sign a replacement. |

It is well with Nigeria |
MU also have a problem with getting the best out of players they have bought. Lukaku was never worth £75m, but he didn't look this bad before joining MU. The classic case is Di Maria, a superb player who became just average at United. So, beyond just money, it's important to look at tactics and coaching as well. JMou seems to be failing at both - and just spending more won't fix it. |
Nigerians in Ghana Prisons Forwarded as received... My name is Emmanuel Emeka, a prisoner in Ankaful maximum security prison, Cape Coast, Ghana. I’m serving a jail-term of 130yrs imprisonment and I’m presently in my 8th year. We appeal to the Nigerian Government to please come to our aid. The condition here has been so unbearable for (we) Nigerian prisoners in Ghana. We need to reconnect with our families. The Ghanaian police are fond of arresting innocent Nigerians, giving them high priso sentence of 50yrs,70yrs, 100yrs, 150yrs to 200yrs. Most of us have spent about 8yrs, 10yrs, 15yrs, 17yrs and 20yrs inside the prisons and some have died inside the prison without completing their jail-term. Our families are in the dark, they really don’t know what we are facing. We’ve spent a lot of money trying to appeal in court, but all is to no avail. Within my 8years in prison, I have witnessed over 100 deaths of Nigerian citizens in the Ghana prison and most of their families are not even aware. Their families would still keep the hope of their return without knowing they are dead and buried with no rites. We appeal to the Government of Nigeria to please act on our behalf so we won’t continue to perish in this peril. There are many Nigerians in all the 46 prisons in Ghana that need help from the Nigerian Government. I also beg the media: kindly keep spreading the message until it finally grips the attention of the able government. To fellow citizens of Nigeria, our brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers, please continue to pray for us and do what you can to return us back home. Another sad part is that most of us are on sick bed, no drugs for us. This is the unseen hardship Nigerian citizens in all the prisons in Ghana are facing and myself inclusive. I’ve been sick for the past 2 months and they have not taken me to the hospital or give me any drug. They treat us like animals, they give us dry garri everyday, no access to communication. I know how I suffered to get this phone to send this message to you. Please, helping us to pass on this message lies the survival of about 800 to 1000 Nigerian prisoners in the 46 prisons in Ghana who are in this type of high sentence. Please help us spread the message to all the four corners of Nigeria to campaign for our freedom because that is the only hope left for us. |

Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari will inaugurate 10 new coaches and two locomotives for the Abuja-Kaduna rail service on Dec. 10. Amaechi said this in an interview with newsmen in Lagos on Saturday while highlighting his achievements to mark his two years in office. The minister recalled that President Buhari had told the National Assembly that the new coaches would arrive in November. According to him, every arrangement had been made to make it feasible. “The President has already announced to the National Assembly that on the 10th of December, he will inaugurate 10 coaches and two locomotives which are in the budget. “This means that the 10 coaches and two locomotives must arrive in Abuja for commissioning, one locomotive will be used for daily drop-off at the stations, while the second locomotive will be an express train from Abuja to Kaduna,’’ he said. The additional 10 coaches and two locomotives expected to arrive on Nov. 23, in Lagos will ease the plight of passengers on that route. |
