Malam Usman Abbas, a younger brother to late Prof. Aliyu Usman Mani, who was killed during a suicide bomb attack at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), has said Abubakar Shekau is a “dead man waiting to go to hell”. Usman stated this in an open letter to Abubakar Shekau, factional leader of the Boko Haram insurgents, which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri on Thursday. “I listened to your audio message in which you claimed responsibility for the suicide bomb attack that killed my brother Professor Aliyu Usman Mani and others during subh (early morning) prayer at the University of Maiduguri Staff quarters mosque on Monday January 16, 2017. “I am addressing this letter to you and calling you “dead” because your filthy, satanic, useless and lost soul is just wandering on earth waiting to get to hell where you have earned yourself permanent residency in the deepest and most painful part of it. “Contrary to your claim in most of your video or audio messages, the innocent people you kill are better than you in the sight of both human beings and Allah and you are the one surely going to hell. “Your soul will never smell heaven. “The tears I shed on the death of my brother were for my personal loss. For the deceased however, I am extremely happy because he died in a mosque, praying (in ruku’u), fasting on a Monday and was killed by your bomb. “Given a choice, I would not mind the same type of death. “His death was very painful but I want to assure you that you cannot stop us from going to the mosque to pray, neither can you stop us from seeking for and obtaining knowledge and education (both Islamic and western). “We have no doubt lost a brother, father, grandfather, Professor, gentleman, pillar of support, guardian and a good man but we have gained a martyr. “We are very proud of what Professor Aliyu Usman Mani achieved in life and in death, we are certain he died in one of the best possible ways to exit this world and that his hereafter is even better. “In death, Professor Aliyu’s status was elevated, his popularity soared, his name heard beyond the academia, beyond the shores of Nigeria, his burial was attended by hundreds of people including my humble self and others from all walks of life prayed for him in private and in congregations at places of worship. “You cannot change or take away the good things people said and are still saying about him neither can you change the bad things they said and are still saying about you. “Even your parents, children and relations if you have any, cannot be proud of what you are doing not to talk of the country and Islam as a religion. “You can only deceive the gullible, uneducated in both Islamic and western education and innocent boys and girls who did not know what they were doing into carrying out your devilish plans. “If you are convinced that what you are doing is Islam and Almighty Allah is truly with you, then show your face, operate from a known and traceable address, use only male adults and do not brainwash small boys and girls into carrying out attacks on your behalf while you hide like a rat in a hole and claim heroism afterwards. “I say you are already dead because “alive”, you the killer of Professor Aliyu Usman Mani, cannot show your face physically, cannot move around freely, cannot sleep peacefully, cannot command respect willfully. ” You cannot do anything normally, you cannot enjoy life fully, you can only live in the bush with your cousins the wild animals tamely, and will surely die miserably without the privilege of a proper burial,” said Usman in the letter. |
Someone sent this to me on whatsapp, I think its worth. Sharing.... The blame for what Nigeria has become falls on you and me. Not Buhari, not Jonathan, not Obasanjo and definitely not Abacha. Our wickedness stinks to the heavens as we go about our daily lives, pulling down everyone and everything to become rich. We import substandard products, fake drugs and expired baby food unfit for human consumption and we have the nerve to complain about leadership? We even steal from widows, orphans, and refugees. We take their food and sell it for profit. No conscience. Nothing is sacred. No one is spared. We build substandard roads, schools, houses, hospitals, all for profit at the expense of human life;an invaluable item which all our profit and contract sum cannot buy. One would think this behavior is reserved for urchins but it would surprise you that this is the character of many decent looking people who appear to be normal but are not any better than boko haram members. They are church members, Muslims, husbands, wives and sadly youths. We pervert justice and pretend we don't know right from wrong just to serve our selfish interests. Slave traders pale in comparison to what we do to ourselves. We are wickedness personified. So much hatred flows in our blood and we transfer it to our children. It's evident in what we say and do. We have fasting and prayer sessions all year long ,night vigils and deliverance when the actual problem is us. We simply cannot learn to love others . It's me,me,me. That's all that ever matters. It's sickening. Anyone who can't love has no business in politics, Government and in Nigeria. Until we understand this, we will continue on this path of destruction. I can Change, You can Change, WE CAN |

Former governors are exerting pressure on the finances of state governments with pension payments and other entitlements draining billions of naira every year fro developmental funds for the states. Over N37.367 billion was, according to Vanguard findings, expended on servicing 47 former governors from 21 states in pension payments and provision of houses, staff, and vehicles replaceable between three and four years. Bauchi tops pension payouts to ex-govs Payment of pension to former governors over a four-year cycle are highest in Bauchi, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Lagos states with former governors drawing N23.18 billion, N2.795 billion, N2.043 billion and N1.606 billion respectively over four years. Former governors of Bauchi State are paid the sum of N1.201,634.28 billion per annum, while former deputy governors, according to Vanguard findings, earn N1,131,345.96 billion per annum. The amount is apparently based on the monetized benefits that include personnel, vehicles, houses and other allowances. The payments are in many cases besides provisions for medical expenses for the former chief executives which run into hundreds of millions per ex-chief executive. The pension payments and other entitlements drawn by the governors are irrespective of the prescription of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC providing 300 percent severance for the governors as stated in the Certain Political Office Holders and Judicial Officers Remuneration Act. Under that act, former governors are like lawmakers entitled to 300% of their basic salary of N2, 223,705 amounting to N6,671,115 as severance pay. Some ex-governors Most of the provisions stipulate the provision of vehicles renewable every three to four years, accommodation at the state capital and sometimes in Abuja; 30-day-paid holiday outside the country and free medical treatment for the former governors and their immediate family members. However, a few other states including Akwa Ibom, Yobe,Gombe, Lagos, Kano, Rivers, Kwara, and Sokoto, have earmarked outlandish cash transfers to the former governors. The humongous payouts are sometimes styled as medical allowance and have generated controversies. The Sokoto State pension law provides for N200 million every four years for former governors, and with three former governors, the state would have to cough out N600 million every four years for the former governors. Another N180 million is set aside for payment to former deputy governors. Gombe was the first to pay out a benefit in the hundreds of millions when it paid N900 million to its two living former governors (Abubakar Hashidu and Senator Danjuma Goje) under the state pension law for former governors which provide N300 million per term for each of the two governors. The Yobe State Pension Act signed into law in early 2007 by the former governor, Bukar Abba Ibrahim gives former governors pension for life. The former governor/ deputy receive 200 million and 150 million respectively, two vehicles replaceable every four years, two drivers, free medical for the former governors/ deputies and their immediate families in Nigeria or abroad. Senator Abba Ibrahim, who served three different times as governor of the state is the only one enjoying the entitlement being the only former governor alive. The only other person to have shared the governor’s office with him were the late Senator Mamman Ali who died in office and the incumbent. Other recommendations besides the cash payments, some states, including Cross River, Kwara, Lagos,Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Ebonyi, Kano, Zamfara and Sokoto States have also recommended the payment of the basic salaries of the incumbent governors as yearly pension payments to their former governors. The version of the governors’ pension law in Kwara State which came into effect in 2010 states that the forme governor shall be entitled to two cars and a security car, replaceable every three years, a well-furnished 5-bedroom duplex, furniture allowance of 300 per cent of his salary; five personal staff, three DSS operatives, free medical care for the governor and the deputy, 30 per cent of salary for car maintenance, 20 percent for utility, 10 percent for entertainment, 10 percent for house maintenance. Chief Emeka Wogu, a former minister who also represented Abia State in the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC and was chairman of the RMAFC committee which prescribed the severance payments told Vanguard that the pension laws prescribed by the states if inconsistent with the law as prescribed by the commission, would be deemed illegal. Wogu, also a lawyer and public policy expert, however, drew back from declaring the payments to the former governors as illegal. “Anything outside the law that was recommendedby the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission, and not in consonance with the law, and where it is already prescribed by states houses of assembly, that means that such laws are in conflict with the federal law.” Ahead of the 2015 presidential election, General Muhammadu Buhari as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had promised to use moral suasion to compel the governors to amend the provisions of the pension law on the ground that they are unsustainable.

Former Governor of defunct Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa had asked the former minister of aviation,Chief Fani Kayode and other elites to stop using Southern Kaduna killings as an avenue to make money and advance their political relevance while victims were still in pains and trauma. Speaking with journalists at his residence in Kaduna, the former governor who described Fani Kayode as a trouble maker warned that inciting Southern Kaduna people against others in the state would be destructive. He also warns Senator Danjuma La’ah and others who called for self defence in Southern Kaduna, saying it would rather bring more crisis. The former governor called on the entire people of Kaduna State irrespective of religion and ethnicity to come together as brothers and sisters to end the killings which he said started since 1986. He tasks governor Nasir el-Rufai to revive Kachia Ginger factory and other companies in Southern part of the state, a move he says will address the high poverty and backwardness of the zone. He further accused the Southern Kaduna elites of collaborating with their Northern Kaduna elites in destroying the industries built in the zone like Kachia Ginger factory, adding that Southern Kaduna elites prefer money and appointments to being governor of the state. The former governor, however, said he do not believe President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nasir el-Rufai are behind the killings in Southern Kaduna, stressing that he was also a victim of cattle rustlers in the northern part of the state. His words: “Those elites, including Senator Danjuma Laah, calling for self defence in Southern Kaduna are making the situation to be worst and self destructive. To Fani Kayode, I know he is a trouble maker. Kayode always mislead people, even the government he served. Kayode calling on Southern Kaduna to carry arms is condemnable. He is making money from his utterances, but it is unfortunate. "Those elites making money from such utterances are making the issue worst. Some of the elites are even using the situation in Southern Kaduna for political relevance. The Southern Kaduna elites are the problem of the area. They prefer money and appointments rather than governing the state. They always conspired with their Northern Kaduna elites to cheat ordinary Southern Kaduna people. "Let me give you an example, my party, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) nominated their own Tom Maiyashi as our governorship candidate severally, but the same Southern Kaduna elites worked against him. They voted for a Northern Kaduna candidate for money and appointments. I established ginger industry in Southern Kaduna but the same elites collaborated with Northern elites and destroyed the industries. "The Southern Kaduna violence is unfortunate. I think this is something that has been going on since 1986. It has been going on since then and each time it gets worse. But, let us go to the root of the matter. The root of the matter is comparative poverty, lack of enlightenment and manipulation by the elites. The level of poverty in the Southern part of the state is much higher than the rest part of the state. For example, the Southern part consists of eight local government areas, but there is not a single industry in the area. The industries that were established in the area during the second republic were destroyed by the elites in Southern Kaduna in collaboration with their counterparts in Northern part of the state. So, with this situation, what do you expect? "Secondly, the level of enlightenment in the southern part of the state is much lower and therefore, it is very easy to manipulate people and engage them in self destruction. “The third root of the problem is the bankruptcy of the elites in both the Southern-Kaduna and other parts of the state, with higher bankruptcy in the southern part of the state. Let me tell you, one of the issues that has always caused problems in Kaduna State is the legitimate agitation of the people of Southern-Kaduna for the opportunity to have a Governor from the zone. "But, in spite of their legitimate desire to produce a Governor from the zone, they don’t vote for the candidate when they get one, they instead go for money and position for themselves. Just as I earlier stated, on two occasions the PRP nominated Mataimaki Tom Maiyashi from the southern part of Kaduna, but they refused to vote for him. They voted for another party that gave their elites money and positions. Now, is this not bankruptcy? "Now, with such situation nothing can change, unless you have a determined and progressive situation in the state, where people will concern themselves with the dignity of the human person first, then it would not matter whether you are from the south or you are from the north. “On the allegation that the President of Nigeria and the sitting Governor are the sponsors of the killings in Southern Kaduna, I don’t think that is possible. I don’t believe that because I was a Governor in this state. “The Southern Kaduna people must resist incitements from some people in the Southern part of Nigeria who are misadvising them to carry arms. Instead, they should come together and join hands with some of the honest people they identify in Kaduna North and central to end the crisis. Accusing Hausa/Fulani of being behind the attacks in the area is very dangerous. Let's all come together as one irrespective of our religion and ethnicity to end the killings. When you are accusing Hausa/Fulani and their religion, it will end up being destructive. Let’s come together as one and deal with those criminals” Balarabe Musa said. Source: John Femi Adi |

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is an organisation that is meant to uphold the standard teachings of Jesus Christ. It is an organisation that should promote peaceful co-existence among all Nigerians, irrespective of religion, region and ethnicity. But unfortunately, it seems CAN was only interested in religious crises in Nigeria. The reasons are these: As soon as the Southern Kaduna killings took place, the CAN took the mega phone to announce that more than 800 Christians have been killed by their supposedly MUSLIMS neighbors who are FULANIS and HAUSAS! It was indeed very difficult for someone far away to get the true story of what really happened. Anyone with human feelings must be burning with anger against the Fulanis, and against the Muslims. Even the Media, which was supposed to do a diligent investigation simply echo the noise of the CAN. The foundation for worst religious and ethnic clashes was getting laid! But the Channels TV, was able to dig deep into the matter during its "Daily Sunrise" on Friday, 6th January, 2017. The indepth interrogation between the duo of Channels journalists, and the Southern Kaduna indigenes was in sharp contrast to the position of CAN. The first person to talk was Barr. Auta Maisamari, an official of Southern Kaduna Peoples Union. He strongly absolved their neighbours from that barbaric act. The love and harmony that exists between them, as explained by Barr. Auta was envious to anyone listening to him! The next person to speak was Dr. Isuwa Dogo, a former chairman of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union in Lagos. He said, "Those who are killing us are not Fulani herdsmen who are our neighbors, they were only been used for cover... For a Fulani herdsmen to buy one AK47 he must sell 5 cows, no Fulani herdsmen in Southern Kaduna would do that! We have been living together for more than 50years" Ibrahim Abdullah, a National Asst. Secretary of Myetti Allah, the herdsmen association was the last speaker. His position was not different. His own analysis of the crisis pointed to the disagreement between the herdsmen from Cameron, passing through international routes, and a local farmer. The Christian Association of Nigeria should shed its hatred for Islam and the Muslims. It must know that only the promotion of religious tolerance and good neighbourliness is the tool by which it could remain popular, not the propaganda that some imaginary persons want to ISLAMISE Nigeria. A lot of us have many Christians as our core family members, friends, business partners and there is just no way we can live in isolation of one another. CAN should not see Muslims as a group of people that must be subdued or frustrated. It is granted that some Muslims are mischievous in their thoughts and actions, every good Muslims is also fighting against this. Our goal must be to live in a country where love and peace shall reign above hatred and hooliganism. May God repose the souls of all those who died in that unfortunate INCIDENT and expose the criminals behind the killings. |
