MNTS0: Salut!
I started my classes with a French learning center last week. It's scheduled for 6 days per week.
And it's been fun so far!
I'm planning on writing TEF the last week of June, so I'm trying to improve as fast as possible. Here are some things that I find helpful;
1. Reading.
2. Listening to French podcasts on Spotify.
3. Watching Netflix movies with French audio and English subtitle or vice-versa.
4. Listening to the test practice recordings
5. Learning with the Duolingo app.
6. Switching my phone's language to French.
I hope I'll be prepared by then and everything turns out well.
I was wondering if anybody would be interested in exchanging contacts?
We could keep in touch and speak the language with each other to help us improve faster. Or maybe a Whatsapp group or something.
Thoughts? I admire your passion. 6 days out of 7 is a big commitment. How many hours daily do you spend? Keep going! Keep us posted on your progress! |

dumiel: Good morning to all seniors and to all ancestors. I am a newbie in this thread and I have been monitoring closely. Thank you all for the wealth of info in this thread. My real name is Bandit and I have decided alongside my family to join the bandwagon of relocation to Canada.
I have a simple question and I want to apologize if same has been asked before in this thread as I have searched everywhere and I couldn't find an answer. Please will NGN800m be enough to see me and my family through this whole journey?
Please, urgent and mature response needed as I need to make decisions fast. Thank you all as you advise accordingly.
Please don't air me and no insults. Good luck explaining to the VO why you have ransom as narration in your bank statements. |

Enculer: Bonjour All,
I hope you are all well and enjoying French. Mini update.
Express Entry Profile created 24 December 2019 ITA received 5 November 2020 (after given up) Application submitted 01 Feb 2021 Medical results OK - 16 Feb 2021 Invitation for Biometrics 16 Feb 2021
On TEF, I had cause to take TEF (not Canada) again and some of the CE and CO from TEF Canada were repeated.
So take the TEF seriously as you never know when next you would need it.
Also, learn French, not just to get ITA or not juat for Canada. You never know if Nigeria will become a multi-lingua tomorrow.
Nigeria of today might change.
All the very best.
Bon courage. Ravi d'avoir de vos nouvelles! Bonne chance! |

Nowenuse: Thank you very much. I think I will write mine in Lagos.
You won't believe that I paid 20k for access to PrepMyFuture but I do not enjoy using the app at all. I think I need something very much physical.
PMF cannot access and grade your essays or speaking sessions. It is only good for Compréhension orale and écrite.
Pls do you happen to know any TEF examiner in Lagos who can offer Intensive preparations and mock exam tests? I really cannot afford to sit for the exams without being sure I can get a CLB7 in all four compétences. Good points about PMF. Good thing you have identified the best tuition approach for your studies. Unf., I don't know any of the AF Lagos tutors personally. |

Nowenuse: Hello, Pls you seem to have a lot of experience as regards this exam. Pls help me out.
I was supposed to write this exam in Jos last year December, but I didn't want to waste my money since I was still at B1 level. Now I am at B2 level in all compétence skills, tho am still shaky and not so sure where I fall. The exams they took in Jos since Dec 11th last year, the results are still not out (7 weeks + later), hence I am now scared to register for the exam in Jos.
Pls do u know if it is the same situation in Lagos? Have u taken the exam? How long do you think it takes for the results to come outside normally?
Also, are you aware if they do mock exams in Lagos? Cos I really need to test my abilities to make sure I can get a high B2 or if possible C1 in all skills b4 writing the exam. Thanks. Hello Nowenuse! I think that delay is covid related and maybe some admin problems. But yes, Lagos is generally the fastest...closely followed by PH. Before Covid, it was 4 - 6 weeks (a few were 3 weeks). During Covid, the TEF for September 27 2020 was out in 3 weeks (Oct 16) in Lagos. As for mock exams, use TEF blancs on YouTube, prepmyfuture and the official exam samples from CCIP. I think Lagos does a 4 week prep...not sure about mock exams. |

What is IF? I understand AF to be Alliance Francaise Institut Français...the AF equivalent for Abuja and maybe some other states. |

Shayee35: Bonjour tout le monde.
I have started private classes with a tutor, but I want to push myself in terms of self-study, my intention is to write the TEF in 6 months. I realize that needs a lot of extra work. Could anyone share links to free online resources in terms of books and test papers? This is critical for my self-study and all assistance would be appreciated.
I also want to ask, if I want to write the exams in the next 6 months, when am I supposed to register?
Thank you for responding! Du courage! some resources here: https://www.nairaland.com/4672912/all-tef-candidates-canada-immigration/1#70358111More in page 1 under 'resources' Register at any AF/IF close to you when the exam date is approaching. They usually have an exam calendar they follow. |

Loverquin: Hi all, please I just got my TEF result as follows: Speaking- 214 Writing- 344 Listening - 319 Reading - 300
How many points can this add to my profile?
I am trying to update my profile with my TEF result but they are asking for LANGUAGE PIN and LANGUAGE TEST RESULT FORM OR CERTIFICATE NUMBER
Please where can I locate this in my result?
Your response will be highly appreciated. Thanks Bravo! very good work but for the speaking outcome. Hopefully you just need these 15 points to top up... You appear to be at an advanced French level. What was your experience at the speaking test? |

Sammieuwa: I just received my TEF results and I scored as follows Writing C1, Listening C1, Reading C1 and speaking B2 (279). I studied for 5 weeks and was confident I could do well as I had done French in secondary school and was one of the best students in French class. To study I used the tips I read here on Nairaland, Youtube, Prepmyfuture app and listened to TV5 everyday. I am very disappointed that I was given a low B2 score in speaking given how hard I practiced over the 5 weeks, I do not think my speaking is that bad as I can hold conversations with French speakers I meet. I have been informed that I can remark my exam. I want to know has anyone one successfully remarked any sections of their TEF exam? Thank you.
@BabeX pls check ur mail. Well Done Sammieuwa! Follow up closely with the speaking remark - fingers crossed for the upgrade. Very well done with the writing - traditionally troublesome! je vous souhaite bonne chance! |

Mmamaroon: To be fair to them, they are just one province...so we should really be comparing their numbers to SINP and OINP not Federal's 3k or 5k. In general, though they seem less efficient than other provinces. Great perspective. Didn't look at it from there. |

NSNominee: Oh!!! I didn’t think of that Don't fret please. Gift deeds are normal and legal and by itself explains the source (i.e large funds are gifts from your cousins to assist your immigration dreams). You don't need to show a 6-month "curing" period for gift deeds. It can even be on the day you submit. |

philaw: Hello bosses in the house. I want to study French and write TEF to get additional express entry points. I'm on 471, and will like to get additional 5 or 6 points. Now my questions.
If I get zero in speaking and listening, whilr scoring considerable points in writing and reading, will I not be disqualified from earning the points. I mean, is there not a least number of mark I have to get in the each module?
Cuz the strategy I want to employ is to focus on two sections on the exam for one or two months intensive study, especially the MCQ part.
Also, what's d tuition of Alliance Francaise like? Greetings! You're in luck. There is no disqualification - you score what you score. AF tuition is ~58k for a 4 week term excluding books. It's possible to get "side" points to make up 6 points. You need to be at premium level of focus and determination to pull it off in 2 months. |
