Thank you all for your interest in the upcoming mentorship program. Sadly, we cannot afford to take on any more EOIs.

Nonetheless, as always, we will be here on the thread to take all of your questions and provide you with support as much as is possible.

If you would like to volunteer to mentor someone, do let any of us know (mamaroon, ayandee).

Bon courage!

Lol. Full cruise.

I'm starting a free mentorship program soon.

If you're starting French from scratch and need some help or need help generally with the exam,

Send an expression of interest to:
thefrenchchase@gmail.com

@Revman @olalekan9320
Putting it out there that initiative is not a direct substitute for French classes and tutors. See it as an additional layer of support.

We will be collaborating with people who have been successful with the TEF and who are available to provide mentoring/coaching at zero cost.

The key objective is to provide guidance, point you in the right direction, and to help you help you.

Pleased to announce that our very own veteran and President, @Mamaroon will be part of the squad.

A few words, Madame la Presidente...

My brothers I need your help and advice please

So I have concluded to start the French learning.
Sir, I hear 2 concerns. 1 is : Can I realistically take the TEF exam early next year starting prep from June? Well, Yes. at least 2 people here have passed the TEF learning from scratch in 6 months.

2. Can I subsidize my learning approach? Yes. I'm personally biased towards self-study. However I recommend a blended approach. Start using self study resources (especially Michel Thomas and Frenchpod), practice (structured) with your French friends..and then register for a higher level class (B1/B2) later. You need to be disciplined however. Find a schedule and stick to it. If this is difficult, I strongly recommend the class you're wary of paying for (see it as motivation price I.e...you can't afford to lose it).

someone mentioned that an insurance exam is assessed as a 1 year course and it takes a shorter period to prepare for it than CIMA. Personally, I don't know much about this as I did CIMA but check it out on the Express Entry thread. Apparently it's cheaper and you can prepare for it in a few weeks.
Sorry about your job
How long did you prepare for CIMA?

Hello guys, I just entered the express entry pool with CRS of 436, I don’t have masters I’m currrently searching for where I can enroll for a fast 1 year masters whether it is online from a foreign school. Can afford to spend like $5000 to $7000 at most. If you have any suggestions for school whether here and abroad please let me know. I’m also looking at writing TEF to increase my score. The alliance francaise here is closed because of covid so I’m learning with duo lingo please any helpful resources for learning will be appreciated. I was just laid off from my job because of this pandemic so right now this is my focus.
Hi, perhaps explore CIMA cert BA as well. 4 papers self paced worth 33 points...You can take the exam from home ~35k per paper. Results come out instantly.

Hi all ,for results what is the equivalent of having a CLB 7.
Is it A1 or A2 or B1.
Also is A1 like 50% out of 100.
I just need guidance.
Hi Chigrad,

CLB7 is a High B2 level. (450 - 499)/699

A1 is beginner, C2 is native speaker.

See first link on page 1 for a breakdown.

Please i need a learning strategy for understanding comprehension écrite

Merci
One way is to practice the short and texts. I hear there's a comment se preparer au TEF Facebook group where you can download all of the questions with answers. CE, almost always, has an impressive number of repeated questions.

I'm also a total beginner too. But am practicing seriously at home with duolingo, memrise and rocket french. But I loveeeee rocket french most, and with the rate I'm learning, by the end of this lockdown I should be prepared to take the A1 exams.
I'm looking at 6 months preparation, will attend the physical class when the lockdown is over. Wish you all the best.

P.S: for other good french apps, check out speaky app (to boast your speaking ability) and French coffee break (to boast your listening ability)
Thanks! Excellent recommendations.

Thank.
Hmmm there may be enough cancelling ohh and may make the work look untidy.
Or do the examiners over look the cancellations?
Yea...but you'll get better with practice. It's best to form your ideas and think of examples before writing. Generally speaking, a tidy output might help you make the case for organization points.

Time literally disappears so begin with part 2 and make sure you have the standard letter formalities on check (address, title, introduction and closing)

Plan 5 - 10 minutes for ideation (practice broadly across common themes (education, language, travel, culture, etc)

Prepare common advantages and disadvantages (and examples) before hand.

Target only 30 minutes for part 2. If you can save time, even better.

Part 1 is where you need your creative imagination.

Good enough. They usually do a sound check and ask all candidates if it's clear enough.

Thanks very much.
But is there any need to raise it in a LOE while submitting the application?
while it is relatively unnecessary, I recommend you add it to your LOE (if were already planning to explain other things) to save you additional heartache during the customary worry phase post AOR.

Good morning house

Please i have a issue i made a mistake while filling the express entry profile on my end date of my bsc degree i wrote january 2011 meanwhile on my certificate its october 2011.
I just noticed it while filling my ITA pls what should i do ?
P.S: Though it was my msc that was evaluated

Cheers
#staysafe
You can make changes post ITA. It only becomes a problem if the changes made would have made you unqualified for an ITA or reduced your CRS below the invitation minimum score.

To put it in another way, for the R10 check, no change should be significant enough to the extent that you would not have received at ITA or be considered for misrepresentation.

Keep safe!

ayandee:
learning french to boost your score score is very achievable. I did that from ground level 0 last year and got 45 points from TEF. I got ITA at age 38. I've seen others do that as well. Visit the TEF Nairaland thread and read from page 1. That was how I got inspired to start the journey and it paid off.

But it requires a high level of dedication, self-discipline and tremendous hardwork and optimism. The year is still quite fresh. I took my decision about this time last year.
Thank you ayandee and mamaroon!

For everyone pursing TEF, keep in mind that it is not required to be fluent - you only need to pass the exam. There is a "system" to the exam, a healthy number of repeated questions and available guidance. A large part of the task is to get to a reasonable proficiency level. The rest is exam preparation.

They say the next best time to plant a tree is now. Visit the TEF thread for more. All the best!

Hey guys,

I’m just not sure if pr entry visa holders qualify as permanent residents. Can someone please confirm?
The landing step is the final step to becoming a permanent resident. If one cannot land, one is not yet a PR. This suggests that holding a COPR is insufficient in the light of the recent announcement.

Thank you.
What if the letter is been issued by direct supervisor /manager who is not willing to state amount (that it's HR to state that) but is willing to mention in the letter that salary is mentioned in employment letter which shall be attached. Will such suffice?
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/express-entry/applications-received-on-after-january-1-2016-completeness-check.html

I would recommend to strictly follow the format specified for work reference letters. However, where all fails, merge both documents and include a letter of explanation to clarify the format.

Good evening peeps,

In our e-APR, there is no placeholder to attach our LOE as an additional document. How can we rectify this before final submission and payment?

Thank you
That's under client information I believe.
