I went to the Abuja Embassy, I had been denied at the Lagos embassy back in December though, i would try to add a little bit of that part of the story when I am posting my interview transcript, hopefully when the status has been changed.

Umm, about discussing privately, i think its better you ask whatever you need to know on here, there will be someone who knows better than I do for sure, there are so many gurus in the house trust me, most of the things that helped me I got it from on here by reading peoples views and comments and filtering it to know what you neer and what you dont, no one knows it all, no man is an island of knowledge, i hope you understand bro

Good day good people of Nigeria. I have been following this thread keenly and I must commend the trancripts, questions, answers and contributions.
I have my form 1-20 already from LU, my SEVIS fee has been paid but I am yet to book an appointment. My concern goes thus; I started working as a QC official in my company & later got promoted to Document Control Manager. I am going for my MBA with a concentration in HRM. Is there an issue with my Choice of course. Will the VO have an issue with the switch from QC to HRM? I am already enjoying the Document Control position & prefer it to QC. Again, I am an intending food business owner once I am through with my MBA. How can I convince the VO bringing these two fields together.
PS: I am sponsoring myself.
I would really appreciate your timely responses as I am about booking my appointment. I am a Fall 2019 applicant.

You know, this is not what I was expecting. He told you to get a scholarship before he can support your academic endeavour. And you are just 19! hmm! Did you tell him what is required to secure a scholarship? I think you don't need any financial help; what you need is the insight to have your Dad understand your academic plan and why studying abroad matters to you and your life goals. At your age, your Dad should support you from the scratch--if he's capable as you hint here.

Open a potential university admission webpage to him and show him the requirements for scholarship you hope to secure. Have him read the page. Tell him the key to the scholarship is Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and you can confidently sit and pass the exam if he register you. Tell him you will make the family proud to have been offered admission and scholarship to study in the US. I'd give my son all he needs if he tells me that!

If he earns good pay and money is not the problem for him, and he can later pay the balance (which could amount to millions (should you not pass the SAT score to secure full scholarship), then how much is 50k SAT registration that he cannot invest now?
Now, you have an assignment to complete. Your first homework is to convince him. He's your Dad! He has responsibility to make this happen for you if he's financially capable as you said. This is the case, or something is fishy here.

You need someone very enlightened to guide you. It is good to desire American education, but the to-dos to make it possible are many.
While your faith and confidence in yourself is commendable, you need to be realistic on how to fund the steps listed above. We will help you with SAT fee if you come up with how you plan to provide for those stuffs.

What is not advisable? Every student, freshman, transfering, graduate, PhD--virtually every one--needs scholarship! You don't want to do without it.

There are scholarships for transfer students. He should check the school he's transferring to.

Get the i-20 first. You don't fly before you run.

After SAT, the following are to be provided for:

1. Application fees to at least 2 schools
2. WES evaluation fee (in case the schools you choose required it).
3. Posting of documents (if ever necessary)
4. Paying SEVIS fee after admission
5. Visa fee
6. Flight ticket

NOTE: if your score is not high enough so that full-ride scholarship is not secured, how would you pay the balance?

Tell them your visa was refused. But let the school know you have made them your choice and so, you wish to defer so that you can prepare and go for another interview. Indicate in your message you'd then need an updated i-20 for the intended term, and you'd like them to ship as soon as convenient. With that, get yourself ready for another interview. He/she should prepare to answer the questions as they may come. He should know everything everything the primary applicant on F1, how long she's been there, program, etc. A transcript for f2 is not the same for f1.

Why are you asking for opinion when you are halfway to conclusion. Does something says it is a red flag to use Uncle and Aunt? If yes, then it is. But if I should answer your questions, you can use your sponsors; VO will not refuse you based on that. Do have a good interview.

You don't come back and start telling me 'life is hard'. Life too was hard for the other 440.

It is okay to fail, but just learn from the strategies of the successful 440 and become successful and stop blaming me for giving you NGN 10 million to start the business.

And yes, someone that was given NGN 10 million to start a business is likely to become more successful than someone that got NGN 100K.

You are on your way there. This is not a question. Shortlisting schools, and you know what is next after shortlisting the schools. Write exam if required by the schools, apply, pay application fee. Everything is mainly self-explanatory. When you get to a junction you find a knot, ask questions and those with insight will answer them. Wish you the best.

If you are asking for help for SAT, let me hope you are academically sound and ready to destroy the exam and score high enough to secure full scholarship? It is one thing to get the funds for the SAT registration, it is another thing entirely to pass the exam--to justify the worth of the support anyone might give from here. If not, the fund would be wasted.

I dont really support pursuing something without parent's blessing especially for first degree...... Even with full scholarship there are still some expenses. How will that be paid?... application fee, visa, servis , transport, accomodation .. if they dont want to support it maybe they are been sensible of living within their means

That been said ... you finish school 2015. Which is 4 years ago . What you been doing since ?. And how was your ssce / secondary school result. Those are factors in scholarship assessment

Go to Nigerian immigration website. You should see all the information there. As you know say Nigeria is not a normal country, make sure you follow the instructions well.

You are cool. Student visas have been issued to students without any standardize exam. Were you offered scholarship? Work on the interview. That's where the next home work is required.

He was denied because his father bragged - not because he was not seen as a genuine student or otherwise. That tells you that it happens in rare cases.

His university called - that further confirms what we were trying to tell fairheart yesterday.

Again, I never mentioned 100% guaranteed - I said it is almost guaranteed (95-97%). The remaining 3-5% is for rare cases like the one you just mentioned or for people that failed to use the vast resources at their disposal.

And please, I don't want to talk about this topic again.

Do you know professor Pius Adesanmi, who died recently in the Ethiopia air crash , Once upon a time, Pius Adesanmi invited his mum, Mama Adesanmi to come visit him in Canada. That was not to be because she was denied a visa to go visit her son.

Pius and Mama were sad, however that didn’t deterred Mama from reapplying for the visa after a six months waiting period. Again she was denied!

Mama reapplied a third time for a visa to Canada and was denied. She then told Pius that she will visit him in Canada on one condition : “If the Canadian high commission comes to her house at Ilorin and stamp her passport with the visa.” Mama was simply saying she is done with the effort of obtaining a visa to Canada after three denials.

And it came to pass, that the Canada Department of Foreign Affairs invited Pius as a guest speaker for an event. Trust Pius not to waste an opportunity to vent when one presents itself. He reluctantly accepted the speaking engagement. After his lecture the Oga at the top in charge of all High Commissioners went to Pius to give him kudos for a job well done. During the tete-a-tete, Pius told the Oga that he is unable to understand why his mother was denied visa to come and visit him.

Three days after the event in Toronto, a dark, heavily tinted SUV with a diplomatic plate number pulled up in front of Mama Adesanmi’s house at Ilorin. The Canadian High Commissioner sent his aides who drove all the way from Lagos to Ilorin to go and stamp Mama Adesanmi’s passport with a visa to Canada in her living room, with a letter of apology personally signed by the High Commissioner.

That was how Mama’s prophesy came to pass and the people who denied her visa three times, brought the visa to her house, even when she didn’t apply for a visa.
