I am hoping that would be enough to switch careers. I honestly don’t want to use Oluwole statement.However accounts from A Dad or Mom I believe has an edge over distant family members.

You need to do more searching. There are many more schools you can find and apply to.

Congrats on your acceptance to WSU. That being said, your first degree program should be related to the Masters you intend to study. However, this is not required for issuance of your visa. You can still get your visa. However, you will need to prepare a strong response as to why you are going for MS in Management and Supply Chain, which has a relationship with your work experience at the Courier Service Firm. Your age is also ideal. The US embassy verify statement of account now--if they take it down after a convincing visa interview. The consular may not take down your sponsor statement, so nobody here can say what will happen. You can use family sponsor, which I strong recommend.

Yes, finalize and decide who to use as sponsor before you fill this part of the DSFORM. Also, make sure the amount in the sponsor account is enough to cover for the whole tuition of your program (and still remain if you remove the total cost of the package). Kindly confirm that "Self" is not indicated on your I-20 as the sponsor, or else, you will have to stick with that and provide your own statement of acct.

I have been a silent follower of the forum for a while now but I was not prepared to kick start my masters degree yet.
I started my application to Wichita state Univeristy for a Masters Degree in Management and Supply Chain Chain with STEM and 3 yrs option of OPT after graduation. I have 2 years work experience with the Banking industry , a year in an IT related firm and 6months with a Courier service provider. I am 25 years of age. The have been offered admission and have been issued the 1-20 already. However I have a few setbacks my First Degree is science related and different from what I am applying. Does my Work experience give me a better chance? Does the US embassy verify account statements? I have some savings but it would not be enough but I want to use one of my clients Accounts Deets as a family sponsor.
I would really love Experienced individuals on the forum to give thier candid undiluted and blunt review of my case. P.S I have intentionally not filled my Ds-160 form yet

With scholarship, you may get such. And most scholarships that cover entire tuition are highly competitive and based on high academic profile.

A business account is not bad per se, but note that you are required to mention sponsor name on the DSFORM. More so, if you are presenting a business account (if the consular request for statement of account at all), it may not boost your chances of getting the visa, because we all know that we don't use business funds/capital to finance personal expenses, of which paying for your tuition, etc are a part of. As I often encourage, if your sponsor is a business person and has business account, tell them to also provide personal account they have in their name, with considerable amount of money in it. A business statement of account would certainly be printed with a reference letter on the front page, stating the owner's name. Hence, you could go with both business and sponsor personal account--especially if the funds in the personal account is not as much as stated on your i-20.

The truth is that, the VO that will interview may not even ask. The key to this is to prepare as though your preparation is what will get you the visa. Learn everything you need to know about your program, its courses; write a tailored response to the general student visa questions. Don't copy other students' transcript. You can learn one or two things, but write your own personal response and share it with someone who can help assess them. Have good mock, too.

Yes. You are doing fine. Just prepare for the next interview. To transfer your SEVIS, you need to go to the SEVIS website, where you generated the Coupon for the SEVIS payment of the previous I-20. There is option to transfer there.

Well, I just went through the transcript. Congrats on your baby delivery. Is your baby a boy or a girl?

I noticed you did not prepare for the f1 visa interview. When you were asked about English test, you did not really respond as a normal consular would expect. This is the first glitch, and you said you don't have the test score report. Consular probably thought you lied. Trust me!

Then the second interview, you did not give a valid reason as to why you choose the school. So, I think the second VO agree with the information the first VO left on your profile within the system. As I can see, you can get the F1 Visa. You need to prepare very well and put yourself together, except getting the visa doesn't matter to you anymore.

You need to write a tailored transcript for the next interview, and by God's grace, the outcome should be positive.

VO: I just saw an inflow, why such all of a sudden.

ME: This was as a liquidation of our fixed deposit investment. (passed him a copy of the fixed deposit certificate) this is a copy of the fixed deposit certificate which shows it was liquidated yesterday. Its no longer valid because the investment was just liquidated due to todays interview. If you look at the statement you would notice the funds have been in the account since october but we had to invest it to get interests.

VO: ok this is fine, i see you stayed in the usa for over 2 months, what was this about

ME: I HAD OBTAINED A MEDICAL VISA IN 2017, AS I went to have a baby, this was indicated at my interview that i would be in the usa for that length of time.



VO: Do you have your receipts

ME: YES (PASSED the zero balance statement)

VO: (studied it for a while) how much did you pay for this, was it normal delivery or CS

me: Normal delivery, total was about $5k , this was the contract signed in the hospital for self pay

VO: OK , but i want you to note that these hospitals do some things behind you, and give you an affordable bill, a standard bill for delivery in the usa should be about $20k.

ME: i didnt know this, i met with the hospital and this was the bill given to me on a contract for self pay

VO: i know you dont know, but its ok. excuse me for a minute (he goes to meet one witch with the statement that had denied every single soul, probably his supervisor)

VO: sorrry about that i had to make a little clarification. (looks at the 1-20) Your i20 states that English proficiency is required, where is your English proficiency test.

ME: The school waived English test on my behalf as my B.SC was done in English, also i had done an IELTS test before the school waived it.

VO: (Getting Angry) WHERE IS IT

ME: unfortunately its nt here with me. I had obtained an admission from the school because i was qualified and submitted the necessary documents to the school. i wont have been offered the admission if i wasn't Proficient, can you please allow me to bring the documents later or send via email.

VO: Based on som conditions your VISA is not approved. You can come back for B1 B2 visa but you dont qualify for this visa.

ME: Please does this mean i cant school in the USA..

VO: It depends on who you meet but this is my decision.

me: It affordable, the school is in Texas which has a great wether. Also, after various research, i realised that the school is highly rate for the course , and one of the Top schools in the USA.. (she cuts me)

ME: Florida Atlantic uni and university of Massasuchets, I didnt get Florida Atlantic Uni

VO: under the immigration laws in the USA you dont qualify for this VISA(same old story to every soul at the embassy)

4 year lap. Hmmm, only God knows what was on the VO's mind when he/she looked at your application during the interview. The lapse is really long, and I can tell you that's one of the keys to your refusals.

Hi, how do you think we will know which school will give you funding or that is best for you? That's your job to figure out. Explore each school websites, program webpage, courses offer, tuition fee rates compare to other schools, affordability of things/living within the city each university is located, and make sure you check out scholarship options as offered by each school. Now, write to program department or international students centre of each school with questions related to what you want to know about scholarship, GA, etc--in case this is still necessary after you must have explore the schools

If you are on a computer, all these will take you just a day or 2, and I am sure you will be able to decide for yourself which of the schools are best for you. Do that and you will be happy with what you will find.

How old are you? You may not get your student visa with a two year community college (which awards the associate degree in question) i-20. Please note "may". So, there is room for exception. But community college i-20s hardly earn visa approval these days. Your age is one of those factors you must consider when deciding which to go for.

Hi, everyone. I want to go for nursing in the US but I'm confused as to which route to take. I'm considering the Associate Degree route offered by community colleges or the Accelerated Bachelor's Degree route offered by Universities. Information online says the Associate Degree route is less expensive than the Accelerated Bachelor's Degree route. Also, I'm looking at the program that will afford me the ability to work while on campus (Accelerated Degree program often leaves little or no space for that). To be honest, nobody can decide which is best for you. Your choice of where to go will be influenced by your situation, aspiration, etc. However, both countries have similar opportunities in terms of quality of education you will get. The question is, are you going to stay back with your family after this PhD? If that is it as your question purports, then go for Canada. Good luck to you!

You were to be specific enough to your school. You asked for documents, and indeed, which document? You should simply have asked that your admission be differed and a new, updated I-20 be issued for Fall2019. Write a message to your school with detailed information about your interview outcome and let them know you have decided you will not look for another school as their university is the best place to study your chosen program (Just to make them know you're committed). Then ask that your admission be differed to Fall2019 and so, you need another i-20 for the next visa interview. Simple as ABC!

How much is the total financial package for the program as stated on your i-20? Check that and convert it to naira using 358 Naira. The amount in your sponsor's account should be enough that if your sponsor should pay everything from the account, about half of the paid sum or more would still be available. As for sponsoring yourself, sure. Just make sure you have a good source the funds have been coming from, because consular would ask about what you do to have made enough to be your own sponsor. But even then, I always advice that capable students still find someone as main sponsor and then declare they will be paying the rest.

However, I must say one or two things concerning this opinion of yours on "most Americans and their VO at our embassies that aren't smart". There is something you are missing!

I am very sure you just got your visa and recently travelled. So, you see, you have very little idea on "most Americans"; in fact, you have no idea at all. And I say this based on my assessment of your opinion. That being said, congratulations!

Now, sheke01, sheke01, sheke01! How many times did I call you? 3 times! You need to understand that every opinion of a man is a reflection of who he is! Your opinion is a reflection of who you are, how you see things and the way you think as a person. Yes, "Most Americans aren't really smart", is your opinion and you have right to share it. But your opinion says a lot about you than the most Americans you were referring to.
It is not that most Americans aren't really smart; it is the way you see it. If you think most Americans aren't really smart, it is because you are not really a smart person. It boils down to who you are yourself; not the American people.

The American people are some of the smartest people on earth! If they are not so rugged and corrupt like most Nigerians, they are hard-working, focus, committed, kind, generous, and vision-oriented people. These are qualities of very smart people! You are in one of the finest, most organized, law-abiding, and knowledge-driven nations on earth. Did you not see that within the little time you have spent there? You need to re-calibrate your perspective, because you are in a new country now, and you need to you see things better so that you can become a better person and make the best of all the opportunities that America has to offer young students like you.

In my opinion, sometimes the US embassy play a psychological game on candidates on their first interview attempt. They are like "you claim to have thousands of dollars to spent on education in the US, let's deny you and see if you have another 56,700 to pay for another interview". Or the game might come in this form, "you claim to be serious about doing a rigorous masters degree, let's deny you and see if you are tenacious enough to try, try and try again.

I was in your shoe back in june. I was delayed on my first attempt and I was asked just "how did you know about this school", "name other schools you applied to", "who's sponsoring you and what does she do". I was dumbfounded when I was handed the blue paper. I didn't know what went wrong. I almost gave up until some peeps here and in real life advices me not to give up so easily. I tried again and got approved in August. I did nothing new the second time. I even practiced less than how I practiced the first time. I was not really into it the second time.

Will I advice you to write a standardized test just for interview sake? I'll say yes.

Let me tell you my story. My journey to America started 19 months before I got approved. I wrote GRE, TOEFL, did WES then wrote another GRE. I did all this because I wanted to get everything that will aid me to achieve my goal. On the day of my second interview, I prayed for a VO that is IT inclined or standardized tests inclined just to get the odds in my favor. While on the line, two guys in front of me were going for MBA and were denied after the VO asked about standardized test and they didn't write any because according to them " their school didn't request for it". I immediately got confident because I knew I wasn't getting a blue paper from this test inclined VO once I mentioned I wrote two GRE tests and it worked. I got approved.

Most Americans aren't really smart. VOs are Americans so most VOs aren't. ........... lolz. Most of them operate on their orientation scripts that students need to take standardized test. Although some of them are experienced and know stuffs. So if writing a standardised test will place odds in your favor, then write it.

It's really been a while I've been on here. Came across this again as I was searching for some info online for my upcoming visit to Naija. I was in many of your shoes almost 7 years ago and did go through some of the comments on here.
I see that many people on here are using Uncles as sponsor, while there is nothing wrong logically from using an uncle or some other extended family member, please be aware that the embassy frowns at this. The question in their minds is that "Why would an Uncle want to sponsor you, doesn't he have his own kids to sponsor?" This is because they know that sponsorship from an uncle or extended family or from any source other than your direct family member i.e mom, dad, blood sister/brother isn't a reliable source. In fact Brother and Sister sponsoring you will still raise their eyebrows.
Not sure when things changed but about 6 to 7 years ago when I was applying for my student visa, we were advised to avoid used of anyone besides our parents as much as possible. I do understand that not everyone's parents can sponsor them but if you must use a source other than them, make sure your answer goes with a valid reason.

For example, I read about someone on here who used an uncle because his/her father was late and has been sponsoring their education since then, now that is an answer with a valid reason.

There is someone who applied to California State Uni Sacramento, That was the school i attended, also for MS in Mechanical engineering with concentration in Manufacturing also, you can contact me for details regarding your next appointment if you need more tips regarding the school and your future interview.

For the Person who was denied in abuja because the lady kept typing, One thing to learn from that encounter is that Americans have the shortest temper (they might not show it like we naija that frown when angered, they will smile to you even after you've angered or pissed them off), while she was typing, you shouldn't have stopped her to ask if she was listening to you, that may have come out as being rude to her (even if that wasn't your intention) and she probably blocked you off after that and didn't want to listen to anything else you had to say because she was pissed. even if they seem not to be listening to you, DO NOT ASSUME so and just keep answering the question. Believe me, they are listening to you even though they may be typing at the same time. It's their job and they have been trained to multitask.

Hopefully some of you may get a thing or two from my epistle here. I apologize for the long comment but I felt a few of you might find it helpful.
