Politics / Under Cover Of Condolence, PDP Seals Agreements With Saraki, 3 Govs, Legislators by Faitholu(m): 8:20am On Jul 19, 2018
Ilorin— Under the cover of conveying condolences, the hierarchy of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, perfected plans for the return of some of its former members, including Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, and three state governors

The three governors that had been won over as at yesterday were Governors Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto, Samuel Ortom of Benue and Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara. The exact number of National Assembly legislators involved in the move could not be ascertained at press time. Governor Ortom’s return to the PDP, a top source told Vanguard, was, however, yet to be fully perfected upon issues in the local chapter of the party. Yesterday’s strategic moves spearheaded by the national leadership also had Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State as a collaborator. The PDP, Vanguard gathered, had summoned all its declared presidential aspirants for a condolence visit to Sokoto upon the recent attacks by alleged bandits that left 39 persons dead. All the presidential aspirants, including Atiku Abubakar, Tanimu Turaki, Sule Lamido, Ibrahim Shekarau, were on the trip to Sokoto. The party’s Board of Trustees, BoT, and elements of the National Working Committee, NWC, were also on the trip, Vanguard gathered. Speaking on the occasion, Secondus said the delegation was in Sokoto to condole the people and government of Sokoto State over the attack by bandits at Tabbani village in Rabah local government of the state. He said:“We are here with a high-powered delegation to pay condolence to the people and government of Sokoto State over the attack. We are also in pain as you are because whatever happens here in Sokoto happens all over the country. “The killings all over Nigeria are painful and people are living in fear because we don’t know where it will happen next. From January till date, no one can account for the number of people killed. What we see every day is blood flowing everywhere.” Responding, Tambuwal said: “Sokoto has been very peaceful not until last week when, for no reason, some marauders attacked Tabanni village. We now have more than 5,000 people as internally displaced persons, IDPs. “We are consoled by your visit. We are touched and concerned. We shall never forget this day.” Following the open discussion, the team had private discussion with Tambuwal, after which the team proceeded to Illorin for the 8th day fidau prayers for Alhaja Aishat, mother of Alhaji Kawu Baraje, chairman of the New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP. Following the fidau prayers, the visiting delegation met privately with Senator Saraki, Governor Ortom, Ahmed, Tambuwal, among others. Those who did not feature at the fidau but were present at the meeting included Tambuwal, Lamido, and Secondus. However, a source at the meeting told Vanguard: “All those present at the meeting are coming into PDP. Yes, we had issues with Benue but it is being sorted out.” Contacted over the meeting, spokesman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Kola Ologbodiyan, said the meeting could not be said to be a convened one, describing it rather as a gathering of like minds.

Buhari’s Govt confused, has gotten to the end of its tethers – Obasanjo

By Henry Umoru

ABUJA- FORMER President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Wednesday lampooned the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, saying that the government is at the moment confused in addressing the mirage of problems and challenges confronting Nigeria as a country, just as he warned that if serious action was not taken, they would be the death knell to the country’s democracy.

According to Obasanjo, the Buhari government has gotten to the end of its tethers and the nation at present is being left divisively and perilously to drift.

Speaking in Abuja as the Special Guest at a one- day Extra Ordinary Summit of Leaders and Elders of Nigeria convened by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Afenifere, Ohaeneze Ndigbo, Pan Niger Delta Forum, the former President while taking a swipe at the government, said that Nigeria, in recent times, has not been so divided along religious and regional lines as at today with what he termed, inexcusable killings and devastating poverty and with government’s wringing hands and apparently incompetent to stern the tide except giving one unrighteous and unacceptable justification after the other.

Not good to slap or become belligerent. It doesn't make a good responsible man.

Very bad for the lady. It means to fry for 10 guests, 40 eggs would go. Too bad. One or 2 eggs should suffice. More so, modesty should dictate that she ask him first, after all she's yet a girlfriend not a wife.b

Politics / "We’re Ready To Die In 2019,..." - Wike by Faitholu(m): 11:25am On Oct 10, 2017
The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, says he is ready to lay down his life if it will ensure victory for the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections.

Wike said this in the latest issue of ‘The Interview,’ a monthly magazine.

The governor said one of the reasons the then President, Goodluck Jonathan, lost the presidential election was that he was surrounded by insincere people, especially ministers.

He, however, said Rivers State fought tooth and nail to ensure victory for the PDP in 2015 and 2019 would not be any different.

Wike said, “The whole thing boils down to sincerity and commitment and sincerity. We said if things would not happen, all of us would go down with it. That was the driving spirit for us and that is what we are going to repeat in 2019.

“If the Federal Government is going to kill all of us, so be it. Because we know what they have planned and their strategies and so when it is time, we will face the APC squarely in this state. Just watch.”

The governor described Jonathan as a gentleman who condoned too many things.

Wike said for instance, when Jonathan went to campaign in the North, he was stoned in a number of states but did nothing.

The governor said if he were the President, things would have been different.

He added, “God gave every leader his strength and way of doing things. You see, I will not accept that. Let the heavens fall. If Nigeria was going to end on that day, let it end. I will not take what he took. That is why I respect the man a lot. I will not take that.

“If Nigeria will come down that day, let it come down. I mean, what is it? He was President and you were throwing stones at him? No single respect for that office? And you tell me to accept it? No, I will clamp down on you.”

Wike said the fact that those who stoned Jonathan were neither arrested nor prosecuted, showed that some northern elements, including the ones in the PDP, sabotaged Jonathan’s campaign.

He wondered why a northern state which was ruled by a PDP governor would allow such a thing to happen.

The governor also said he supported what a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe, did at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission when he attempted to stop the Chairman of the commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, from announcing the results of the 2015 presidential election.

Wike said Orubebe’s actions were justified since the elections were rigged.

When asked if he supported what Orubebe, he said, “I did. Of course, why not? You saw clear rigging. I don’t like a system where you see something is going wrong and you keep quiet.”

The governor, who is heading the PDP’s reconciliation committee, said his committee would do everything to attract as many political heavyweights into the party.

It is really amazing and utterly unbelievable to hear how some BIG fools here are calling others fools. I just can't imagine that some people who ought to know would become alliterates (not illiterates) just because they can't allow commonsense to overide their desire. Haba, if Nigeria needs CHANGE and want "change," is it CHANGE at all cost?
1. Must we stand logic in its head just because we need CHANGE?
2. Even if Buhari is the CHANGE we need, why. Can't he change the way he has applied to INEC in the past by presenting a certificate now, if he has one. The INEC rule in d past only demanded that you state your qualifications but now you are required to state it and attach it.
3. EVERYBODY does that, including Osinbajo, so why would we not require GMB to do same?
4. Remember, when PDP's Salihu Buhari lied on oath that he went to Toronto University, (despite that he already had d required WASC that ordinarily qualified him) yet he was nailed and sent out of d Speaker position and d house.
5. Instead of GMB to exemplify honesty and change by coming out to say: "pls Nigerians, I don't have WASC but I have other higher qualifications, due to so so and so reasons, why would he think he can be smart to fool everyone just because we need a change?
6. If you tell a lie, you would need many more lies to cover up the original one, that is what is happening. And don't forget, even if Buhari's lies has travelled far through 3 candidatures, d TRUTH would catch up with it one day (which is in 2015).
I am a friend of CHANGE, but I won't support those who don't know when to owns up and stand for the truth and let d devil be ashamed.

How Can You Recognize True Worship?

1. Is there only one true religion?
Jesus taught his followers only one religion, the true religion. It is like a road leading to everlasting life. Jesus said: “Few are finding” that road. (Matthew 7:14) God accepts only worship based on his Word of truth. All true worshippers are united in one faith.—Read John 4:23, 24; 14:6; Ephesians 4:4, 5.
2. What did Jesus say about false Christians?
Jesus warned that false prophets would corrupt Christianity. Outwardly, they seem like true worshippers. Their churches claim to be Christian. But you can recognize such people for what they really are. How? Only true worship produces genuine Christians with recognizable qualities and ways.—Read Matthew 7:13-23.
3. How can you recognize true worshippers?
Consider these five identifying marks:
▪ True worshippers respect the Bible as God’s Word. They strive to live by its principles. So true religion differs from religion that is based on men’s ideas. (Matthew 15:7-9) True worshippers do not preach one thing and practice another.—Read John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.
▪ Jesus’ true followers honor God’s name, Jehovah. Jesus honored God’s name by making it known. He helped people to know God and taught them to pray that God’s name be sanctified. (Matthew 6:9) Where you live, which religion makes God’s name known?—Read John 17:26; Romans 10:13, 14.
▪ True Christians preach about God’s Kingdom. God sent Jesus to preach the good news of the Kingdom. God’s Kingdom is the only hope for mankind. Jesus continued speaking about it until his dying day. (Luke 4:43; 8:1; 23:42, 43) He said that his followers would preach about it. If someone approaches you to speak about God’s Kingdom, to which religion does he likely belong?—Read Matthew 24:14.
▪ Jesus’ followers are no part of this wicked world. You can recognize them by the way they take no part in politics or social conflicts. (John 17:16; 18:36) Also, they do not imitate the world’s harmful practices and attitudes.—Read James 4:4.
▪ True Christians have outstanding love for one another. From God’s Word, they learn to respect all ethnic groups. Although false religions have often strongly supported the wars of the nations, true worshippers refuse to do so. (Micah 4:1-3) Rather, true Christians unselfishly use their time and resources to help and encourage others.—Read John 13:34, 35; 1 John 4:20.
4. Can you identify the true religion?
Which religion bases all its teachings on God’s Word, honors God’s name, and proclaims God’s Kingdom as mankind’s only hope? Which group practices love and shuns war? What do you think?—Read 1 John 3:10-12.
