[/color] Am of the opinion that the programme has outlived its usefulness. Barely three days after orientation camp, a commuter bus carrying a number of newly oriented corps members from markudi to Aliade crashed leaving two dead and 11 others seriously injured.I mean how will there deliver this pathetic news to their repective family members. i feel so sick seeing them everywhere i go at the moment carryin loads of luggage and looking confused. To think that NYSC decided to re deploy married women and those on health grounds to state other than where they apply is inhumane especially those whom are suppose to be re deployed to Abuja, Lagos and Port harcout.Did i hear you say simply because monetary terms,our bigwigs and senators play a role to majority of the corps members serving there.Whats redploying a married woman who left her kids/husband at lagos for orientation in kaduna back to ondo state or a sickler who applied to be relocated from Benue to Edo instead of Abuja.To me you rather leave her application un attended to than making her apply for same process in another state and exposing him /her to dangers of our bad roads by moving from lagos to ondo til she is able to another redployment letter..........WHAT A WICKED SERVICE FROM THOSE NYSC OFFICILAS.Dont know what to say to all those hungry NYSC Officials who handle this reposting thing.................pray that what you do to other pples children doesnt come back to you. What are you talking?? sullivan developmental approach does not have depth. He only succeeded in tarring few kilometers of raod all within the state capital. Have you bothered to move beyond enugu to udi his hometown. Even up till today Udi has remain a town with any form of infrastructure and development with no market, banks despite its long standing history. Have you moved upto nsukka, oji river and entire rural areas and you will understand that enugu state is far behind Anambra in term assessibility of entire states. You will notice that virtually all the towns in Anambra are developed with banks, this is because of the network of roads- you will drive smoothly from Awka to Onitsha to Nkpor to Obosi to Nnewi to Agulu to Ekwulobia to Uga. Am a living testimony of this. I'm in Anambra I had to drive smoothly via almost all the communities and hinterland without hitches unlike what is obtainable in Enugu state and other SE states. Peter Obi might not be the best that can happen to anambra but i must commend him.Even those traders know a 3rd term is not possible for peter obi but suffixe it to say that Anambra state choice after Peter Obi 's tenure will cap up the foundation already laid by Peter Obi 's Administration. Before his administration ,the state was recording the highest level of decay caused by the past administrations but today i believe he has moved the state further.may be the state would have recorded 90% sucess in road construction if he choose to[b] embark only on road projects(by now anambrarians that doesnt know how to measure development will be singing unnecessary praise of Obi's name) [/b] rather than his ANIDS approach and truly he kept to it by develping all sectors simultaneously. i wish he will mount more pressure on fed govt abt the second naija bridge, enugu onitsha express way(upper iweka inclusive) and anambra past senators must be blamed for not pushing for these projects.i must commend him on visble marks he made on rural roads, i can see Otuocha,Anam,Orumba pple etc happy with him.He should make more effort for ogbaru and some part of awka north then return to urban roads. No need hyping him cos alot still need to be done but he has not been sleeping, develpment is a continous process. SUNDAY SUN NEWSPAPER Ngige vs Akunyili: Anene begs INEC •Prosecute him -Akunyili By Olusola Balogun, Lagos & Dom Ekpunobi, Onitsha Sunday, April 24, 2011 • Photo: Sun News Publishing More Stories on This Section Dr. Alex Anene, the controversial Returning Officer at the centre of the electoral dispute involving former governor of Anambra State, Dr Chris Ngige, and former Minister of Communications and Information, Professor Dora Akunyili, over the disputed Anambra Central senatorial district election, has apologized to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).Sunday Sun learnt from a reliable source. INEC has, however, ordered a fresh election on Tuesday, April 26 in Enugu-Ukwu and Nimo wards 1& 3 where the elections results could not be obtained. Ngige is of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) while Akunyili is the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate. A member of the six-man investigating panel raised by the INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, to probe the controversy that trailed the announcement of the result of the election told Sunday Sun that Anene, a Chief Accountant at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, had apologized for embarrassing the commission. Anene, had initially alleged that his life was in danger and that some top APGA members had offered him N10 million, a duplex and scholarship for his children if he would agree to announce a result he considered mutilated. He later announced Ngige as the winner of the election. But the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Chukwuemeka Onukogu, said that Anene had absconded from his duty post, and so went ahead to appoint a new Returning Officer who declared the result announced by Anene as null and void because the election was inconclusive in some wards. The dust raised by the crisis attracted the attention of Jega, who empanelled a body to look into the controversy and make recommendations. But the panel member, who asked not to be named explained: “Anene had to apologise when he was faced with all the facts of the matter and he realised that he erred.He told us he did not set out to mar the integrity of the election. ” According to the source, five people appeared before the panel, namely Prof Onukogu, the new Returning Officer, Professor Charles Ezimone, Anene, the INEC training officer, Mr Ewa, and the collation officer for Njikoka local government, Professor E.L.C Nnabuife. Those invited were asked to support their written presentation with documents. They are to present their position and also defend it. Said the member: “While Nnabuife stood his ground that the election results in some wards were inconclusive and stood by an advertorial published in a national daily, Anene could not defend his announcement that Ngige won. “When the panelist asked him how he got his figures since the electoral officers from Nimo wards 1 and 2 had said the results was snatched while the electoral officer from Enugu Ukwu also didn’t submit anything, Anene told the panel that he got the figures from party agents but refused to give their names . “He was, however, very sober when reminded that as the Returning Officer he was supposed to deal with the Collation Officer and INEC agents and not party agents who could be biased. “At a point, the panel became a case of Anene versus Nnabuife because the latter was the collating officer for the three wards, who Anene should have collected his figures from. “Nnabuife also told the panel that he saw Anene driving away in a Peugeot 406 with two men minutes after he told the latter the problems he’d encountered from the three wards.” Anene was also said to have suddenly become incoherent when asked to substantiate his allegation that some people close to Akunyili attempted to bribe him. The panel member also revealed that INEC agreed with Prof. Ezomone that although Akunyili got 66,273 while Dr. Ngige got 65,576 of the concluded votes, the election should be declared inconclusive since the results from Nimo 1and 3 and Enugu-Ukwu meant 19,000 votes were missing. Akunyili has, however, called on law enforcement agencies to prosecute Anene and his accomplices for electoral offences. Fielding questions from newsmen, she said the announcement made by Anene had adversely affected her numerous supporters. The former Information Minister said: “It is obvious that somebody paid Anene to do what he did and all of them should be made to face the wrath of the law.” She disclosed that she would still take legal action against Anene and his alleged accomplices for tarnishing her image and that of her family over allegation bribe.The APGA candidate said many of her supporters were unhappy with the bribery allegation, but added that she would explain the true position to them. Akunyili said Jega’s announcement for fresh election in the three wards has again raised her trust and confidence in the future of Nigeria. |

rotflmao, i felt so sober this evening after JEGA 's live briefing on NTA this evening. it amazes me to hear that Dr Chris Ngige has been acting shakespearen all this while. Poor Dora Akunyili sure she didnt find it funny all this while having people draw conclusion from far and near. JEGA in a press briefing this evening said INEC investigation panel learnt that Mr. Anene has not done the collating job before abscounding from his duty post to a hotel and the said result with which he declared Ngige winner is a manipulted figures from Ngiges cohort written down on a card board paper gbam ! So Ngige is directing a comedy show out of our JEGA electoral system. i recall that Ngige came into limelight thru a stollen mandate which was rigged on his favour by his ersthwhile god fathers.the mandate was later reclaim by the rightful owner peter obi. he contested again and loss to same peter obi with his case still in tribunal. Same Ngige again with Dora acting a non titled movie for two weeks . he use to be politically relevant cos of the much he achieved during d days of stollen mandate but with this recent record , i wonder if anambrarians will want a replica of what use to happen in oyo state, ADEDIBU the father of all thugs and political agberos.
