Wow!!!!It is really interesting that Our government made such an imprompt and disgraceful decision and some narrow-minded people are here justifying this unreasonable decision.Which way Nigeria We have lost our sense of reasoning, shame, and sense honour. Are we thinking of going foward or backward. Some young players sacrifies their lives to merit this honour of hosting right, which we jst threw overnight. Is $30millon dollars up to a single transfer which some governors make into their personal foriegn account.

We are crying of development, how again can our govenment be forced into development if not for hosting all these world events.A staduim built or renovated  for the cause of this tournament remains an assets to the Nigerians,A road built for this cuase  remains a credit to us.I see  people here taking about bad roads,No electricity and all that, but forgeting that the only way our government  can be forced into  fixing up these things is by having such an intenational gatherings in Nigeria regularly.A man who alwayas expect Visitor must try as possible as he could to put his house in order no matter how poor he is.Go to Beijing China today and see how the rebuilt the city cause of the Olympic. They Also spent billions of dollars on it not out of supplucity. Those development(Infrastructures) didnt vanished after the Olympics. There are still there as the national assets and for the country's credits.

Omg When shall we think of moving that country forward? This is a right which we are jst being denied, this time not by FIFA but by our own government. If FIFA had denied us this right when we bided for it ,the same Nigerians would count it as unfair and maginalization against africans.

We lost the right to host beauty peagants in Nigeria for no reason,Now our hosting right for Under- 17 World Cup again is being lost for no reason. That is why we would Always remain where we are, because our leaders has lost their sense of development and greatness. They no dey shame any longer.

Let us wait and see what they will now do with the money, let see if our road will now be in good shape, let see if we will now have constant electricity, let see if our health care will be in perfect condition and if they will not use the money to travel abroad for medical check-up, let see if the politicians will stop embezzle our money. Sport is one thing that keep Nigerians together and if they kill it it is left to them.

They bidded for it and they have started the preparation all of a sudden they realised they can not host it. Let see if Nigeria will now change.

It is shameful, so he doesn't know the number of policemen he's paying every month, they pay any figure of naira every month. Police has no databese of his men. It is shameful.

congo was renamed zaire, that sure did help.

If it worked in Congo I don't think it will work well in Nigeria, many things that work well in other countries when you bring it down to Nigeria it will take awkward shape.

What exactly do you hope to achieve by this? I don't get it. Our youths are as corrupt as the government.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, You have a good point but if anybody have suggestions you people can bring it out, we just have to make Nigeria a better place to live.

Will YOU PEOPLE JUST SHUT UP.

Massob or whatever. I'm Igbo and i agree with alot of the Yoruba/Hausa's here. OMG move on from the past and return to the present. I don't see the Biafra war happening now.
Okay now. Igbo people yes many of our people haven't been president and the only one that was was Nnamdi Azikiwe. He was among the best leaders Nigeria had. He did his job right but people we should stop blaming each other for everything and for godsake work together to take care our people. Jeez, if the president isn't going to help, then lets hope the governors of each state in Nigeria will. Take Anambra for example: The new Governor is doing the best he can to bring that state out of the misery past governor put it into. And his trying his best to make that state one of the best in Nigeria and my mother recently visited there and she just couldn't stop saying what his doing. Lets just pray for a better tomorrow. I know Nigeria has more tribes than all African countries but it's a shame how much we argue over.

@QuotaSyste, I have been seeing some of your posts and it always irritating me that I don't like responding to them because of your tribalism. I believe what you are posting actually show what you have in mind and also actually express your anger on whatever that is bothering you. I just have a piece of advice for you, try to cure the tribalism syptoms in your blood and try to do as much as you can do to make yourself a happy man. If Igbo break away today to Biafra, I don't think it will bring money to your pockets, those who are lazy will still be sufering in the Biafra while those who are hardworking will continue to be happy. Whether break away or not will never determine your success, it is your hand work that will do that. Why not let's forget about the past and let's talk how to move the country forward. Sorry if what I have said so far annoy you anyway.

If Nigeria wants to be great, we have to wipe-out saboteur: who will be the first.

Nice one you typed there, but how do we wipe out the saboteur?

Kobojunkie:

There are millions of Nigerians out there today who are “doing their own part”. They are living their own lives and doing their own jobs. How come that has yet to help the situation in that country? How many more millions of people do we expect to “play their own part” before things go change for Nigeria?

I like your response to that, I'm waiting for the answer 'how many millions of people do we expect to play their own part ' or as an ordinary person what else are they expecting from people.

Hardly you can see somebody folding arms and waiting in his room for Nigeria to do something for him. People are already doing their part.

Fhemmmy:

going to wrk and coming back home day after day, and making ur own money is a great thing and yes, u doing ur own part by doing such, however, how is that going to help the person next door to you that has nothing on his table to feed those kids that has gone to school all day, and yet have no hope of dinner, not to talk of good dinner, how will that be of help to the kids that wont get any visitation from santa for xmas?
There is a need for us to look at the bigger picture and help one another.
For example, every xmas, when you buy ur own turkey, might be great to buy 3 instead of 2 and give one to that woman that the father of her children has ran away because he can't afford taking care of them kids no more.

Just because you are doing your own part does not mean you will be feeding the person at the next door to you especially when your resources are not enough to do that. Whatever you can afford then you give it to the person next door to you. If you can do it everyday it's good but if you can not do it everyday then do it when you have.

Politics / Re: Niger Bridge May Collapse Before Christmas. by faoni572(m): 3:50pm On Sep 26, 2008
ochi-aha:

Its not only the Niger Bridge that its collapse is imminent, but nearly all briges all over the country because of poor maintenance or over-use, as in the case of the Niger Bridge, as there are no other alternatives. undecided

The bridge that collapsed in OCtober 2007 at the state of minnasota, the United States, which crosses over the Missisipi river, has now being rebuilt  and commissioned this September 2008, just under a year after it collapsed. This shows that the system (Beauracracy) works in the United States, [i]while over here in Nigeria, govt. will make statements of intent, repeatedly, about the need to repair the existing Niger Bridge and also build a second bridge over the Niger and nothing ever gets done in the end.  angry

The new bridge in minnasota has electronic chips with in-built sensors implanted into the cement used in building the bridge and information obtained from these sensors are monitored by the state road maintenance agency and the University of Minnasota; this information gives a minute-to-minute report on the state of  the new bridge and in future will warn, long before it occurs, about the imminent collapse of the bridge so that the state govt. will take pre-emptive measures to forstall this. cool

The new technology above is needed for all our bridges so that we may know their level of performance and enable us take corrective steps on those which are already in danger of collapsing.  cool

That's a country that is functioning not like Nigeria

what is more shameful when your PRESIDENT has to be medically fitted with 'used' kidney in an Arab Country.

What if they have given him kidney of a suicide bomber or a kidney of AIDS patient?

Much worse what if they given him genetically modified kidney from where they can control him?

Nigeria is a dead country alive.

institutionalized or not, no ethnic group has a monopoly on 419. corruption in nigeria goes way to the tussle for positions in the civil service. back to the thread, nigeria is not a failed state, just a relatively young country in distress.

Only God knows how long it would continue to be a young country in distress. We have had so many visions that didn't come true and now the vision 2020 is no more realistic
