Well the doctrine is for the F35 to detect, fire and disengage before being detected itself it's not supposed to get close to enemy plane. That's why I believe the most appropriate sceneries is peering them with the F22 or F15. While F22 or F 5 engage air target. The F35 engage ground target and provide situational awareness

True they will always be peered and will most likely arrive when other planes have won the air superiority so they can engage their ground targets unperturbed
