By John Alechenu, Abuja The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25th, 2023 election, Peter Obi, has said haven experienced what old politics has in store, Nigerian youths can’t wait to take back the country from those who consider national leadership “as a criminal racket.” Obi said this at an event with the theme: “Redefining Our Options and Consolidating our Legacies”, organized by Obidient support groups in Abuja, on Sunday. The event was organized to coincide with the 1st anniversary of the February 25th, 2023 Presidential Elections. Obi, in this speech titled, ‘Tribute to Hope’ said, among other things, “The nation has heard us. The youth have carried the mantle of changing their destiny and the direction of our country. They cannot wait to take back their country from those who regard national leadership as a criminal racket.” He saluted what he referred to as the ‘abiding faith and solidarity of all those Nigerians who supported the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign and the Labour Party through the campaigns and the elections. Obi said, “ I also salute the patriotism and freedom of choice of those who may not have supported or voted for us. “I salute your courage and tenacity. Together, we made the courageous statement that a new, more prosperous, more united Nigeria is not only possible but also within reach of all Nigerians. "You braved the odds, you defied the pessimism of nay-sayers, you made incredible sacrifices and clung to the stubborn belief that this land is our country and that its future is ours to shape for our common good and the good of posterity, the LP standard bearer said. “Looking back at what happened at the election and the situation in the country today, we were correct in saying that the old ways of politics should give way to a new progressive Nigeria. “In the twelve months since that election, most of the fears we expressed for our nation if we went the way of the old politics have come to haunt us in frightening forms. "We may have lost an election but we have won a moral victory of epic proportions. All the worst fears that we warned might happen have all been playing out. “Our national economy has been driven into perhaps the worst state in all of our national life. The population of those classified as multi-dimensionally poor has climbed astronomically to over 80% of our population. “Similarly, unemployment is galloping, for a predominantly youthful population, this scenario is dire and frighteningly dangerous. "The hunger protests have united our people across ethnicity, language, region, faith, and location. This is another confirmation of our belief that Nigerians are united by the circumstances of their living conditions, not by artificial barriers raised by opportunistic politicians. We are now one people under hunger.” The LP standard bearer went on to say, “Just yesterday, I read with sadness, the reports of how a massive crowd besieged the Zonal Office of the Nigerian Customs in Yaba to purchase the discounted 25kg rice offered by the Customs Service. “In the course of the heavy stampede that ensued, some lives were lost. It is heartbreaking to think that despite all the wealth of our nation, Nigerians are losing their lives in their desperate quest to buy food cheaper, in the face of the growing hunger and starvation in the country.” The former Anambra state Governor however noted the patriotism of Nigerians even in the face of daunting challenges. He said, “Wherever I have gone all over Nigeria, North, and South, I have been struck by the reality of poverty, deprivation, and suffering sometimes written boldly on the faces of people. Yet the beauty of our people remains the optimism in their Nigerian identity and the hope they all cherish in the future of our country. “None of the poor people that I have encountered has ever wished they were not Nigerians. On the contrary, the consensus among them is that Nigeria is a good place ruled mostly by bad leaders.” Obi also used the opportunity to pass a message of hope to all Nigerians particularly his supporters. According to him, “Despite our current problems and setbacks as a nation, I am glad to reassure our supporters and compatriots that there is nothing in our dark experiences that has dampened my resolve and optimism in the possibility of the New Nigeria that we all strove so hard a year ago to enthrone. “ And nothing has happened to discourage my resolve or optimism about the goals we fought for. A greater, more compassionate, more prosperous, and more equitable New Nigeria is possible.” The LP flag bearer equally paid glowing tribute to the courage of the “Obidient “ and reassured them that, there is no looking back in the journey to rescue Nigeria. He declared, “For me, the journey to a better Nigeria has just begun. It is a lifelong journey. On that journey, despair is not an option. Surrender is not a choice. Failure is not even a remote possibility.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/02/nigerian-youths-cant-wait-to-take-back-their-country-obi/amp/

By Johnbosco Agbakwuru, Abuja President Bola Tinubu on Saturday, called for the suspension of economic sanctions imposed on Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea by ECOWAS. Speaking at the Extra-ordinary Summit of ECOWAS in Abuja, President Tinubu, who is the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the organization, stated that: “Everything we did was in hopes of persuading our brothers that there existed a better path, a path that would lead to genuine improvement of their people’s welfare through democratic good governance. And this was a path each of our nations had solemnly agreed with one another under formal regional treaties and protocols. "However, the sanctions that we contemplated might help lead our brothers to the negotiating table have become a harsh stumbling block. In my mind and heart, that which is hurtful yet ineffective serves no good purpose and should be abandoned. “ECOWAS was established for the unassailable objective of improving the lives of the people of this region through fraternal cooperation among all member states. This edifice was cemented on the strong foundation and apt conviction that, united as one, we can be the true masters of our destiny.” The President further explained that ECOWAS took the steps it did based on the regional ideals of security, social stability; democratic governance, political freedom, broad-based prosperity, and sustainable economic development through fair opportunity for every one in West Africa. He said neither hatred nor hidden motive influenced the steps taken and that there was never any intention to douse or undermine the legitimate political aspirations of any member state or to advance the interests of any outside party. In calling for the suspension of sanctions, President Tinubu stressed that: “We must take note of the approach of the holy month of Ramadan and of Lent. Whether you pray in the mosque or in the church, this represents a time for compassion, hope, and harmony. It is a time that we must not only seek God but also a closer relationship with brother and neighbour. “In the Spirit of the holy month and of the Lenten period, and with hearts bestirred by goodwill towards all our people, let us extend a hand as brothers and friends to those in Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea. “What I suggest in real and practical terms is that we, my colleagues and fellow heads of state in ECOWAS, indefinitely suspend economic sanctions against Niger, Mali, Guinea and Burkina Faso and against the leadership of the military authorities in those nations.” The President asked that ECOWAS facilitate the unfettered flow of foodstuffs, medicines and other humanitarian items to the people of these nations, especially to the most vulnerable, adding that for Nigeria, this will also mean the prompt resumption of export of electric power to Niger. “In this vein, suspension of sanctions is an important but initial step. What we seek is more than the breaking of the diplomatic logjam. We must use this very moment when things seem tense and progress unavailing, to forge greater cooperation within our community. “We not only reach out to our brothers. Today, we say unto them — let us begin to work more earnestly together for the economic development of our people and towards confronting those modern challenges that respect no borders or boundaries. Challenges ranging from climate change to violent extremism to illegal pilfering of our precious natural resources require that we join together in progress or we fail separately. “As leaders of ECOWAS, we have accepted the honour and duty to draft the history of the region and its people during our tenure in office. We have also accepted the honour and duty to reach out to our brothers, letting them know this regional home belongs to us all. I shall do my utmost in this regard. I humbly beseech that you do the same. “For these reasons, we must suspend sanctions and return to brotherly dialogue. I call on the leadership in Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, and Niger to embrace the hand extended,” the President stated. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/02/coup-nigeria-restores-electricity-supply-to-niger/amp/

By Anayo Okoli. OHANAZE Ndigbo has directed Ndigbo all over the country not to join the ongoing protests against hardship. In a statement signed by the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu entitled “Message to all Igbos worldwide”, he said: “I write as your leader at this critical period in our Country, Nigeria. Events in Nigeria today are no doubt very disturbing. The economy has turned very bad, a sceptre of frustration is everywhere. I have received many entreaties from many parts of the Country requesting me to call Igbos to join in demonstration and violent action in the Country against the Government. “As your leader, I am directing that no Igbo group or community in Nigeria or in Diaspora should join in this action. I am still studying the situation. I have asked Nigerians who approached me the following questions, what did they do when the past government disfranchised Igbo land? Most of the Igbo are in the South East and the South East is very sadly marginalized in all ramifications. We are the only geopolitical zone that has only five (5) states. This situation has cost us billions of financial losses. It has also cost us losses in both political appointments and legislative representations. In 2005 and 2014, we raised this issue at various political conferences. All men of goodwill at the conference agreed that it was unfair for the Southeast to have only five States and recommended that an additional state be created in the Southeast but up till today, this has not been done. I have severally drawn the attention of the federal Government to this injustice against the Southeast. This statement should serve as a notice that if no step is taken by the federal Government and the National Assembly towards the creation of an additional state in the Southeast, I will have no choice than to go to Court. "In the 1999 Constitution as amended, we all endorsed a federal character. Igbos by nature would have preferred the free competitive process rather than a federal character paradigm. But we realised that Nigeria is a federation comprising so many ethnic nationalities and as part of our sacrifice towards the unity of Nigeria, we accepted the federal character option but unfortunately, it has been used to manoeuvre the Igbo out of most critical positions in Government. For Example, the former President Muhammadu Buhari openly confessed that he didn’t give us our due because we didn’t vote for him. "Youths all over the world are very restive and sensitive to any issue affecting their future. In Nigeria, Igbo youths and youths from other tribes at various times expressed their dissatisfaction with events in the Country. It is clear to us that when youths from other tribes of the country are involved they are reprimanded and forgiven; but when the Igbo youths are involved they are arrested, incarcerated and even charged for serious offences. For example, the arrest and detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu generated a lot of problems for the Igbos. Many Igbos, including Governors, members of the National Assembly, Religious leaders, Traditional Rulers, and Business leaders pleaded with Mr. President for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu but without success. Also, there are many Igbo Youths detained in various correctional Centres for flimsy excuses. For example, there is a case of Eze Fredrick Nwajiagu who has been in detention in Lagos without any justifiable reason. "Since after the 2023 general election, Igbos have been victimised over the failure of APC to win in Lagos and Abuja. It has been brought to my notice that there is a conspiracy to cripple Igbo business enterprise in Lagos, Abuja and other parts of Nigeria. All these are aimed at incapacitating the Igbos from all future political activities. "In some parts of Nigeria, Igbos who answer Igbo names, who are raised in Igbo culture and tradition, continue to deny their Igbo Heritage. This is because some people outside the Eastern Nigeria who assume the monopoly of political power, have continued to brainwash this set of people and turned their minds against their kit and kin, the Igbos. For example, after the Civil War which was fought by the entire Eastern Nigeria this group of people profiled it as if it was a war by a few Igbos and they influenced our kit and kin in Rivers State to seize our assets in the name of abandoned property. Remarkably, the end of Civil War was based on 3Rs Reconciliation, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction. Most unfortunately, the 3Rs were never implemented in the war torn areas. History will always record the contributions of General Yakubu Gowon, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, and General Obasanjo towards the peaceful conclusion of the Civil War on the basis of no victor, no vanquished. It is regrettable that up till today, in spite of the efforts of Igbos to demonstrate their commitment to one united Nigeria, Igbos are victimized in many parts of the Country and people profile them wrongly at various times. It is clear to me that Igbos must work hard in order to succeed in Nigeria. It is no secret that most contracts executed by Igbo business men in Nigeria are bought from original awardees. In terms of political power, the Presidency of Nigeria was zoned to rotate between the North and the South. We accepted it. The last election was a defining moment in the country when in fact Igbos generally believed it was their turn to produce a president but some groups of Nigeria ganged up against Igbos and we failed in this quest. We once more thank all Nigerians who have shown their patriotism and love for one united Nigeria by supporting a very credible Igbo candidate, Mr Peter Obi. These Nigerian leaders are too numerous to mention but we cannot fail to express our thanks to Chief Dr. Edwin Clark, the Leader of South South region, Pa Ayo Adebanjo the Leader of Afenifere and Dr. Bitrus Pogu the Leader of Middle Belt Forum for their courage in supporting an Igbo candidate. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/02/hardship-dont-join-protest-ohanaeze-directs-ndigbo/amp/

By Dan Agbese On May 29, 2023, the first day of his presidency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu poked his finger in the eye of a formidable and powerful cabal made up of fuel importers with deeply entrenched self and group interests. The cabal had defeated every president before him who attempted to end fuel subsidy and put an end to the continued fleecing of the nation by men and women who made their wealth and fortunes from ripping off the country and its harried citizens. In taking this fundamental decision the president made two critical errors of judgement, one of the head and the other of the heart. His error of the head stemmed from his rather innocent assumption that the country was tired of the continued debate over the fuel subsidy and would readily share in his belief that to end it was the sane path; and to continue with it was a timid approach to a problem that needed a solution, not molly cuddling. The fuel subsidy regime was corrupt and was a major leakage in a system that resembles a sieve. The World Bank and the IMF shouted that for years from the roof top. To continue with it was not to help the people but to continue to pamper and enrich the powerful cabal at the expense of the people. For the new president, it was a no no. I fully voted for his decision. I believed then, and I believe now, that it was right and proper. All decisions, like all indecisions, cause pains. If a government fears to take harsh decisions or stick to them, it is not a government worthy of the name. I knew there would be consequences, but I believed the president and his economic team were prepared for them. Tinubu believed it would take courage, and indeed so, to address the issue once and for all. He wanted to make it clear to the people where he stood on this vexed and lingering issue. He wanted to show that he would do what he considers to be in the best interests of the people and the development of our national economy. He counted on our collective support. Then the whispers of discontent arose. The president panicked as if he did not reckon with this possibility when he took the decision to end the fuel subsidy. This led to his error of the heart and forced him to act after the fact. The easiest way for a government to sabotage itself is to allow itself to be sold on the oft faux idea that its decision, taken in the interest of the people, is actually anti-people. To convince the people that the removal of fuel subsidy was not anti-people, Tinubu took the advice of his minders and offered palliatives to the people through the state governments. He gave each state government N5billion to be given out to the people as palliatives. With some money in their pockets with holes, the people would be happy and applaud the government of the people instituted by the people. It was the continuation of the faux welfarism of the Buhari administration that helped to mint new billionaires but pushed the people deeper down the hell hole of deprivation. I thought the president made a grave error of the heart by being persuaded that the people needed palliatives, in the politically correct parlance, to cushion them against the fall outs from his decision. I knew he was throwing money at a problem. I knew that the money would be stolen, and the people would be cushioned against nothing but left clinging to their common currency – a forlorn hope. I also knew that egged on by his minders and their business compradors, the step he took would whet the people’s appetite for more and more palliatives and in essence defeat the removal of the fuel subsidy. I refer you to the 50 per cent transport subsidy last Christmas season. Now, we have come to this: the current hunger/hardship protests in some states. Democratic governments fear such protests because they are taken as evidence of the people’s discontent. It can be combustible. This forces a government into a panic mode because pleasing all of the people all of the time is considered the dividend of democracy. No one can be untrue enough to himself to deny that there is hunger in the land – as it has always been and always will be. Nor can anyone deny that there is hardship in the land – as it has always been and will always be. It is life in capital letters. It is the business of government to make life less brutal for the people. When the masses cry, they cry from the feeling that the government instituted by them has neglected them. No government fails to listen when the masses voice their discontent. The standard government reaction is to downgrade the protesters to miscreants merely carrying out the bidding of its enemies. There is a sense in that. Enemies lurk everywhere in all governments, dictatorial or democratic. The standard government response serves notice that the government knows its enemies and is prepared to take them on. Mass protests may look like the same, but they are not the same. It is not in all cases that the voices belong to the masses, but the hairy hands belong to the enemies. The standard response may be right in some cases but wrong in others. One solution does not fit all mass protests. Two important points can be made here. The first is to resist the obvious temptation to attribute the protests to the fuel cabal striking back using the masses. If the cabal has the capacity to work up the masses to take to the streets, then it is to be feared. If the government is forced by the protests to roll back its decision on fuel subsidy, then the hard times will have a longer shelf life. Two, labour is taking advantage of the protests to issue an ultimatum to the government to end the hardship and the hunger. It wants the government to roll back its decision, restore the fuel subsidy and let the good times roll again in the land. If the protests spread to more states, they will force the government to react in the only way it knows how – and that is to pour more and more money into the bulging pockets of state governors and their acolytes in the name of palliatives. Every mass protest leaves its mark on the society. They may not achieve their objectives, but they never fail to make a government give into concessions that assuage feelings but aggravate the existing problems. The so-called SAP riots of 1988 forced the Babangida military regime to abruptly end a well-thought economic policy. The country regressed into building a modern national economy on a weak foundation. We are still paying the price. https://dailytrust.com/the-hunger-protests/

By Tom Jones Usen Homelessness in rural England has risen by 40 percent in five years with many sleeping in the open air, tents or makeshift shelters, a British rural charity said on Tuesday. A cost-of-living crisis in the G7 nation and the world’s sixth-biggest economy has left many Britons struggling to make ends meet, as bills for food, energy, rent and mortgages increase. Annual inflation hit a 41-year peak of 11.1 percent in October 2022, and while it has come down to 3.9 percent in November, charities say a range of factors – notably cuts to welfare payments in the last decade and a housing shortage – has exacerbated food poverty and homelessness. The CPRE charity, which campaigns for affordable housing in rural England, said homelessness in the countryside had increased from 17,212 in 2018 to 24,143 in 2023, with wages stagnating and housing costs rising in many areas. "The sharp rise in rural homelessness shows the real-life impact of record house prices, huge waiting lists for social-rent housing and the boom in second homes and short-term lets,” it said. The charity said 12 local authorities across England –- designated as predominantly rural –- had levels of rough sleeping higher than the national average of 15 people per 100,000. – ‘Hidden out of sight’ – The town of Boston, northeast of London, was England’s worst-affected rural local authority for rough sleeping, the charity said. It said 48 people per 100,000 were sleeping rough in town in September 2023 -– the latest month for which data is available. Boston was followed by Bedford, north of London with 38 per 100,000, and North Devon in southwest England with 29. “Unlike those in urban areas, people sleeping rough in the countryside are often hidden out of sight, camping in fields or sheltering in farm buildings,” the charity said. "They are also less likely to have access to support services. This means the analysis, which uses the government’s own data, almost certainly underestimates the scale of the crisis.” The charity said 300,000 people are waiting for social housing in rural England –- where the average house sells for around £420,000 ($535,000). – Food handouts soar – The Shelter charity, meanwhile, said levels of homelessness across England this Christmas are likely to be 14 percent higher than last year. It estimated that on any given night in 2023, there were 309,550 people in some form of homelessness, the majority in temporary accommodation. This is up from its estimate of 271,421 in its 2022 annual report. The charity blamed a housing emergency for the crisis and warned that the true figure could be higher due to some “hidden homelessness” such as sofa-surfing. The Trussell Trust, the UK’s largest food bank network, said last month that the number of food parcel handouts to people in need has risen to “unprecedented levels” as poverty spread across the country. It said it had provided 1.5 million emergency food parcels to people between April and September 2023 — a 16 percent increase on 2022 and the most it has ever distributed at this point in the year. “This is the highest number of food parcel handouts we have had to give in six months,” it said. “We are expecting this to be our worst winter ever.” https://www.channelstv.com/2023/12/26/homelessness-soars-in-rural-england-as-living-costs-hit-poor/

Brazil’s president has denounced the attacks waged by the Israeli government in the Gaza Strip, which have resulted in the killing of more than 3,500 children, according to official figures. Speaking at the Planalto Palace, Luiz Inacio Lula da Lula said the conflict in Israel is an example of violence in which children make up many of the victims. "I see 3,000 children in the Gaza Strip succumb to a war that they didn't promote, that they didn't ask for, that they didn't claim. Are the irresponsible people who waged the war mourning the deaths of these children? Are they feeling the weight of things?" he asked. On social media, he singled out the United Nations for its inability to stop the aggression in Israel. "For the first time, we are seeing a war in which most of the dead are children. Nobody takes responsibility, and we haven't even managed to get a UN letter arguing for a ceasefire. Stop it! For God's sake, stop!" wrote Lula on X. Following a Hamas surprise attack on Israel on Oct. 7, the Israeli army has carried out relentless attacks on Palestinians, including recent airstrikes on a refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, resulting in thousands of civilian deaths, including children. So far Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the US government, Israel's main ally and military sponsor, have rejected international calls for a cease-fire. https://www.aa.com.tr/en/americas/brazils-president-condemns-killing-of-3-000-palestinian-children/3039701

By Peter Moses A police officer, simply identified as “Freedom” has reportedly killed a senior secondary school student of Mayigi Community High School, Ilashe in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State. It was gathered that the officer, who is attached to the Ilaro Area Command, allegedly knocked down and killed the student, identified as Adeleye Eniola with his vehicle while chasing a motorcyclist. The police officer also injured other students who were in company with the SS 1 student. The youths of the community under the aegis of Ipokia Local Government Youth Forum (IPYF), described the act as “unprofessional and barbaric.” The group in a statement by its Secretary, Adeyemi Sulaimon Olusegun, lamented that the police at Idiroko Police Station fired tear gas canisters, beat and arrested students who were protesting the death of their colleagues. “The said officer named, “FREEDOM” was reportedly chasing a motorist that escaped extortion when he killed the young girl and left other students injured in his unethical daily activities. This is one of many misconducts of policemen on Owode-Idiroko road. "The said officer left Ilaro to perpetuate evil in Ipokia local government because the Nigeria policemen had been left unchecked and they have turned themselves to free rascals that can operate even outside their jurisdictions,” the statement said. The group demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of the officer for manslaughter and inciting public unrest. The group also demanded the disbandment of all illegal checkpoints on the roads. When contacted for reaction, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Omolola Odutola, didn’t not answer several calls put to her by our correspondent, either did she respond to messages sent to her. Meanwhile, the National Vice President of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, ‘Yinka Folarin has reacted to the incident, describing it as unfortunate, sucking, peace threatening, murder and dastardly perpetrated act Folarin further described the incident as a very sad development. He joined the youth and other well meaning Ogun people and Nigerians in demanding that the Police Officer must be made to account for such dastardly act and face the wrath of the law. He further chided the Nigeria Police Force Ogun State Command for dispersing the protesting youth with tear gas, even when they are mourning their innocent colleague. He said if the response to the demand for justice from the Nigeria Police Force was tear gasing and destruction as alleged by the youth, it then mean the police had forgotten so quick the reminiscent of the #EndSars struggle. https://dailytrust.com/hit-and-run-police-driver-kills-ogun-ss1-student/

Protesters shouted chants about “Genocide” at United States President, Joe Biden, as he shopped with his family and attended a Christmas tree event while vacationing in his family’s traditional spot. After a lot of anticipation, news had broken on Tuesday night about a deal between Israel and Hamas — negotiated by international partners including Qatar, Egypt, and the United States — to release 50 hostages taken by Hamas in exchange for a four-day humanitarian “pause” in the fighting and the release of 150 Palestinian prisoners. On Tuesday, the president and First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden, arrived in Nantucket for a few days’ vacation. The White House said “The First Family will stay at the home of their friend, David Rubenstein, as they have done previously.” On Friday, President Biden took to the lectern at the White Elephant Nantucket in Nantucket, Massachusetts to speak about the hostage deal and his role in pushing for humanitarian pauses behind the scenes. But protesters have followed the president all around Nantucket this week as he vacations with his family. According to one pool report Friday, there were many cheering the president and “maybe a handful” of protesters as the president and first lady walked down the street. As Biden and his wife walked up Broad Street, there were large groups of people gathered. Some protesters – maybe a handful – yelled “Free Palestine” and “Ceasefire.” Many other people were cheering. Pool reports and cameras also caught the president’s traditional trip to the bookstore with his grandchildren. The grandkids began to trickle out of the restaurant and into Nantucket Bookworks around 3:35 pm – Maisy, Naomi, Baby Beau and Little Hunt were first inside. About five minutes later Biden's wife and Ashley Biden walked in. Asking if she was having a good time, Biden's wife said: “We’re having a great time thank you.” At 3:48 pm, President Biden came out of the Brotherhood of Thieves and walked toward the bookstore. It is about two doors down from the restaurant. He was heard telling some one that he and the family had a “late lunch.” Asked if he was going to do some Christmas shopping, Biden said: “Yes. Can’t come without going to the bookstore. We’ve got a tradition." At 4:08pm, Biden walked out of Nantucket Books, arm and arm with Finnegan. He was carrying a book: Democracy Awakening by Heather Cox Richardson. Naomi was beside him. He walked into Craftmasters of Nantucket at 4:12 pm and out at 4:19 pm. Jill Biden has joined the posse of Bidens walking in and out of shops. President Biden paused at various shops to wave to people standing in the windows. Crowds are all all over the sidewalks waving and shouting “Happy Birthday” and “Mr. President.” He is waving back and has shouted “Happy Thanksgiving.” President Biden and the Bidens are now at town square for the annual tree lighting. A choir is singing traditional carols. But C-SPAN cameras caught protesters shouting while the president shopped — and chanting about “genocide” at a Christmas tree lighting that afternoon: At 4:35pm the town Christmas Tree was lit. The town crier led the countdown. Everyone clapped including all the Bidens. President Biden was behind a metal traffic barrier to the right side of the tree. Going from his left was Little Hunt, Finnegan, Maisy holding Baby Beau so he could sit on the barrier, Jill, Natalie, Naomi and Peter. The main crowd was in front of the tree, behind metal barriers. As the ceremony came to a close, fewer than 10 protesters at the front of that crowd unveiled “free Palestine” and “end apartheid” signs. They were directly to Biden's left and in his sight line. They yelled repeatedly: “Biden Biden you can’t hide. We charge you with genocide.” A man went up to the microphone by the tree to remind them “this is a community tree lighting” and said while he “respected their right to the first amendment,” he asked them to stop. They did not. But the crowd was cheering and Christmas music was blasted over the loudspeakers, drowning out the protesters. Meanwhile the children’s choir rushed over to see President Biden.

Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has declared that the journey has just begun, signalling that he will contest the 2027 presidential election having failed to win in 2023. Speaking during a press conference following the Supreme Court judgement of Thursday, October 26, 2023 on his appeal against the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC), Obi, who thanked Nigerians for their support in the last election, reiterated that the journey has just begun. "Nigerians who supported our cause have done so out of patriotism and their sincere conviction that our nation requires and deserves dedicated and visionary leaders who will lead Nigeria toward a brighter future. The energy and dedication of Nigerian Youths and the Obedient Movement have been simply amazing. “I appreciate and salute them! I want to assure them that this is not the end of our journey; but in fact, the beginning. Nigeria heard you. The world has taken note and will not forget so easily. We shall endure, persist, until we get to our destination because a new Nigeria is our destination. A destination not an event,” Obi said, signaling his readiness to run for the office of the President in 2023. "As someone who has previously benefited from the rulings of the Supreme Court on electoral matters, I have, after a period of deep and sober reflection, decided to personally and formally react to the recent judgment as most Nigerians have. Because we are confronted with very weighty issues of national interest, I will speak forthrightly. As students young lads at CKC, Onitsha, we were taught values and admonished to always; “choose the harder right, instead of the easier wrong.” “Setting legal issues aside, the Supreme Court exhibited a disturbing aversion to public opinion just as it abandoned its responsibility as a court of law and policy. It is, therefore, with great dismay that I observe that the Court’s decision contradicts the overwhelming evidence of election rigging, false claim of a technical glitch, substantial non-compliance with rules set by INEC itself as well as matters of perjury, identity theft, and forgery that have been brought to light in the course of this election matter. These were hefty allegations that should not be treated with levity. "More appalling, the Supreme Court judgment willfully condoned breaches of the Constitution relative to established qualifications and parameters for candidates in presidential elections. With this counter-intuitive judgment, the Supreme Court has transferred a heavy moral burden from the courtrooms to our national conscience. Our young democracy is ultimately the main victim and casualty of the courtroom drama. "Without equivocation, this judgment amounts to a total breach of the confidence the Nigerian people have in our judiciary. To that extent, it is a show of unreasonable force against the very Nigerian people from whom the power of the Constitution derives. This Supreme Court ruling may represent the state of the law in 2023 but not the present demand for substantive justice. The judgment mixed principles and precepts. Indeed, the rationale and premise of the Supreme Court judgment have become clearer in the light of the deep revealing and troubling valedictory remarks by Hon. Justice Musa Dattijo Muhammad, (JSC) on Friday 27th October 2023,” Obi said during the press conference. In disagreeing with the rulings of both PEPC and the Supreme Court on the outcome of the February 25, 2023 presidential election as declared by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Obi said as democrats who believe in the rule of law, they recognised that the Supreme Court is the end stage of the quest for legal closure to the matter. “As a party and as candidates, Datti and I have now exhausted all legal and constitutional remedies available to us. However, this end is only another beginning in our quest for the vindication of the hope of the common man for a better country. After all, sovereignty belongs to the people! If only for historical purposes, it behooves us to place our disagreement with and deep reservations about this judgment on public record. "We have long been aware of how weak national institutions have negatively affected our democracy. This year 2023 has been quite remarkable and revealing. INEC has displayed incompetence in the conduct of its statutory duty. The judiciary has largely acted in defiance of constitutional tenets, precedents, and established ground rules. Political expediency has preceded judicial responsibility. A mechanical application of technicalities has superseded the pursuit of justice and fairness. Both INEC and the Supreme Court as the referees, respectively shifted the goalposts in the middle of the game. "Where the value and import of the recent Supreme Court ruling ends is where our commitment to a New Nigeria begins. Our mission and mandate remain unchanged. From the very onset, our mission has been more about enthroning a new Nigeria. It is a new nation where things work, where the country is led from its present waste and consumption orientation to a production-driven economy. Our commitment is to a nation anchored on the principles of prudent management of resources to quickly pull millions out of multidimensional poverty, ensuring transparency and accountability in the equitable distribution of opportunities, resources, and privileges. In the new Nigeria, we aim to address all unmet needs by showing compassion for all those left behind by the present system. At marketplaces, motor parks, town halls, board rooms, and university and college campuses, we all carry and deliver the message of a new Nigeria. "Given our present national circumstances, there is a compelling need for a strong political opposition. By Nosakhale Akhimien The General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, Dr. Mensa Otabil, has drawn a comparison between the Nigerian presidency and God’s kind of leadership, saying most Nigerians would not make it through God’s strict rule if He were the country’s president. Otabil made this known on Monday in a live appearance at the Platform, a non-political and non-denominational program hosted by The Covenant Nation in Iganmu, Lagos State. “God is not your president; you just have to pray, because if God is your president, you’ll be so uncomfortable with life. If God was president of Nigeria, most of us would not survive,” Otabil stated. "So, how does God behave as president of a nation? Well, check Israel. When he was president before they had a king, he ruled them, and how did he rule them? He gave them Manna; he had a good social system and a good welfare system. “He (God) gave them electricity by day and air conditioning by night; he provided support. He provided the waterworks system, he gave them water from a rock, and so in terms of their well-being, he supported them, but he also wanted them to live by laws.” The clergyman referred to Moses and the Israelites’ crossing of the Red Sea, pointing out that their triumph was ironic to God’s ultimate plan when they encountered him at Mount Sinai. “The first thing God did for Israel after he delivered them was that when the people were delivered, they went into praise and worship. Miriam and Moses sang songs, and they all rejoiced because they’d come out of the Red Sea, but that was not really God’s plan,” he said. "God says, ‘You can have your praise and worship. I’m taking you to Mount Sinai.’ And when they got to Mount Sinai, there was no praise and worship. There was law and God was so terrifying and the atmosphere was so dominating that the people did not want to be in the presence of God.” He stated that God recognised the need to introduce the people (Israelites) into a structured environment in order to lead them after 400 years of servitude and slavery. “The first thing he (God) did was to give them laws (the Israelites who were captives for 400 years); not only did he give them laws, but he also had stern reprimands for when you disobeyed the law,” he said. Otabil pointed out that until the people realised that a nation did not thrive with self-expression alone but also with regulated and moderated behaviour, the law would have its inevitable drawbacks. "He (God) knocked them off; he knocked them off so much that they had to learn to live a structured life, that is God leading a nation. You did your stuff on the wall; you are gone. You did your stuff in the bush; you are gone; he’ll take you out,” he added. https://www.channelstv.com/2023/10/02/if-god-was-president-of-nigeria-most-of-us-would-not-survive-mensa-otabil/

By Abiodun Sanusi Warns against name-dropping of IG, senior police officers The Nigeria Police Force said the Monitoring Unit of the Inspector-General of Police had commenced an investigation following a petition by a Delta State-based rights advocate, Israel Joe, over alleged extortion of N80 million from a surveillance contractor, Atubi Davison, by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, and two other officers simply identified as Emmanuel and Uche. The police said it is currently interrogating the policemen who according to the petitioner, claimed that they would give the sum of N30 million to IG Egbetokun, and N16 million to the Rivers State CP, Polycarp Abonyi, out of the booty. The petitioner also alleged that the policemen also collected a gold necklace from Davidson worth N4 million. The PUNCH reports that the police high command had earlier denied the allegations while noting that the NPF views the allegations with utmost seriousness and is fully committed to conducting a comprehensive and transparent investigation. In an official correspondence on Monday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi noted that to ensure fairness and impartiality, the complainant who made the allegations will be contacted to come forward and cooperate by providing more relevant information regarding the matter. Meanwhile, Joe, in the petition dated September 21, which was duly stamped by the office of the IG, said the police on September 14, 2023, busted Davison’s residence at Peace Avenue Road, Egbelu, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state, searched the house and discovered local and foreign currencies totaling N100 million meant for payment for men securing pipeline facilities in Niger Delta. The activist said the police took away the money, two cars, and gold necklace, and arrested four persons seen in Davison’s house, including a female. He said that despite an investigation showing that the money was for payment of securing an oil facility the money was not returned. Joe said, “I met with the Assistant Commissioner, State CIID, and asked him what are you investigating the man for, the ACP told me that is an alleged kidnap case that he doesn’t know if somebody will come and report that his money is missing or is a ransom money, that all they need to do is to see how they can manage the situation that the money is about N100 million. "A major part of the money is in dollars. I told the ACP they should charge him (Davison) to court if the man committed any offence. When they saw that calls were coming from different angles, they called us – called the father that they were going to release the two cars to him and any amount they release to him (Davison), he should manage it, that they are going to send N30 million to the IG, N16 million to the state Commissioner of Police. "At the end of the day, they (the policemen) released the two cars, they released the Chevrolet and Toyota Camry car to him, released only N12 million to him and took away a whopping N80 million along with his gold chain valued about N4 million, the two plasma Television, shoes and clothes they carried from his house.” Continuing, he said, “The IPO even told us to leave Port Harcourt that criminals may come for us, that we should leave Rivers State. I know one CP called him (AC) and he confirmed that they took away almost N100 million from the man’s house. They released only 12 million naira for the man. "The 12 million was in dollars. The other people who were arrested with the man bailed themselves, some with one million naira, two million naira, just like that. I am calling for a proper investigation. The money should be refunded and all officers involved should be brought to book. If the surveillance workers are not paid, people will go and break the pipeline and the man has nothing to do and it will tell on the economy of the Federal Government of Nigeria”. Reacting to the development in an official correspondence on Monday night, Adejobi said, “Following allegations of unprofessionalism, kidnapping, name-dropping, extortion, and illicit enrichment against some officers of the Rivers State Police Command, and the swift intervention of the acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, the officers fingered in a petition by one Israel Joe on behalf of one Mr Atubi Davison are being interrogated by the IGP Monitoring Unit as part of ongoing investigation to unravel the allegations and ascertain its veracity for further necessary action. "As previously stated, the Nigeria Police Force views these allegations with the utmost seriousness and is fully committed to conducting a comprehensive and transparent investigation. To ensure fairness and impartiality, the complainant who made these allegations will be contacted to come forward and cooperate by providing more relevant information regarding the matter. "The Inspector-General of Police, therefore, cautions the public about fraudulent individuals who always attempt to exploit the reputation of the Inspector General of Police and other senior officers for personal gain. He urges members of the public to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of anyone claiming to represent Senior Police Officers in any dubious activities while reporting such to the NPF and the Force Public Relations Officer or the Complaint Response Unit desk in any state of the Federation.” https://punchng.com/extortion-police-probe-officers-over-n80m-allegedly-shared-with-ig-cp/

By Emmanuel Ezekiel Vehicles and a market were burnt when gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)/Eastern Security Network (ESN) on Monday unleashed terror in Ebonyi State. The situation forced people to scamper for safety as the gunmen struck the Ezamgbo junction, along Abakaliki/Enugu Expressway in the South-Eastern state. The incident took place a few minutes before 8 a.m. and left two commercial buses, four motorcycles, and a shop within the Ezamgbo Market burnt. An eyewitness who craved anonymity said he could not tell how they were, but upon arrival, the armed men shot in the air which led to people scampering for safety. The spokesperson of the Ebonyi State Police Command Onome Onovwakpoyeya said no life was lost in the incident. He explained that the Command deployed police operatives to the scene, assuring that efforts were ongoing to arrest the gunmen. “Today 02/10/2023, Armed men suspected to be IPOB/ESN members in a Sienna car attacked commuter buses, tricycles, and motorcycles at Ezzangbo junction,” the statement read. Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, counsel for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has condemned the practice of forcing travellers in Southeast Nigeria to alight from their vehicles and pass through security checkpoints on foot. According to the lawyer, this is ordered by security personnel, especially the police and soldiers. SaharaReporters has observed that across the five states in the Southeast region namely Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states, there are checkpoints where security personnel compel travellers in commercial transport vehicles to alight and pass through on foot. While such practice is enforced at security checkpoints at the borders, there are some security checkpoints within the states where travellers, particularly those in commercial vehicles including buses, tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep and motorcycles, are forced to alight and pass through. Reacting to the practice, Ejimakor in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday described it as institutional humiliation and oppression of the people of the Southeast region started by former President Muhammadu Buhari and continued by President Bola Tinubu’s government. He wrote, “The phenomenon in Igboland in which every passenger is forced to alight from vehicles & cross on foot at security checkpoints is an exemplar of the institutional humiliation & oppression of Ndigbo that started with Buhari & continues to this day. And it fuels provocation to boot.” https://saharareporters.com/2023/10/02/forcing-igbo-travellers-pass-security-checkpoints-foot-humiliation-oppression-ipob

Eyitope Kuteyi The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has reiterated the need to restore peace and put an end to insurgency in the South-East, while echoing calls for the extradition of Finland-based separatist Simon Ekpa over the illegal Monday sit-at-home order. This came a day after the Senate condemned the order under the enforcement of a faction of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), appealing to the Federal Government to collaborate with the Finnish Government to extradite Ekpa to Nigeria for prosecution. Uzodimma’s revealed his position on Friday during a familiarisation visit from the new General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Enugu, Major General Hassan Dada, at the Government House in Owerri, the Imo State capital. “What is topmost in our cases is this popular sit-at-home order. There’s one man called Simon Ekpa somewhere in Finland,” he said. “It is our hope that the security agencies, particularly the military, working with the Federal Government, will be able to either bring Simon Ekpa back to Nigeria to also sit at home with us or be made to face the wrath of the law.” In a similar vein, the governor met with traditional rulers and community leaders at the headquarters of the Traditional Rulers Council in Owerri where he called for their support in stemming the tide of insecurity and supporting the government and security agencies in fighting crime. He urged them to shun any sit-at-home order and go about their lawful businesses. The governor also used the opportunity to disclose the numerous intervention programmes and incentives lined up from the state and federal governments to cushion the economic effects of the fuel subsidy removal. These two important meetings came a few hours after the leader of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, through his counsel, directed Simon Ekpa to refrain from issuing any sit-at-home order in the South-East under any guise. In his remarks, Major General Dada gave an assurance that all non-state actors would be pursued and all forms of criminality stamped out in the region forthwith. He noted that he had received a marching order from the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, to end insecurity in the South-East without further delay. While emphasising that his team would do all it takes to ensure that peace returns to the South-East, he appealed for the support of the Imo governor and indigenes of the state to achieve this feat. https://www.channelstv.com/2023/07/29/bring-simon-ekpa-to-nigeria-to-sit-at-home-with-us-uzodimma-urges-fg/

A former member of the Labour Party, Col. Chinyere Obi (retd.), shares with DANIEL AYANTOYE how she was shot by suspected political thugs and allegedly abandoned by the party You sustained a gunshot wound during the general elections. How did it happen? It was a painful experience. I was a Peter Obi supporter. I made a lot of sacrifices during the electioneering but was abandoned after the attack while defending the Labour Party at my polling unit. I was in my village in the Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State to participate in the election. On the day of the House of Assembly election, I went to cast my vote at my polling unit, Ward 1. Somehow, I noticed that something was wrong; when anyone wanted to vote for the Labour Party, one of the INEC officials on the ground would take his hand and ensure that the person voted for the APC. So, I told them to allow people to vote freely. Later, some thugs started beating the LP agent there and I intervened. A guy then approached me and said they had been observing me in the community. He said they saw how I gave rice to people and that I was busy promoting the LP. I didn’t know when he brought out a gun from his bag and shot at my leg. When I recovered, I went to the police station. What did the security men at the polling unit do when you were shot? There was no police officer there. I asked the chairman of the local government council why he came to the polling unit without security personnel. What was the reaction of the state government on the matter? Nothing; it was when I went to the State CID that they arrested the boy but released him later. So, I went ahead to petition the AIG at Umuahia Police Headquarters, Zone 9. You said you made some sacrifices during the campaign. What were some of the things you did? During the first flag-off at Lafia (Nasarawa State), I contributed and shared food to the people who came for the programme. After the flag-off, I invited the Arewa group from the 19 northern states for mobilisation and encouraged them on the need to work effectively for Peter Obi and the party at large. I gave them food and transport fares without any support from the LP chairman. At the grassroots, I bought 200 bags of rice, noodles, bags, and customised shirts as well as other items which were distributed. The painful part is that none of the people came to sympathise with me when I was shot. I don’t know the kind of human beings people are. I sold all my property to campaign for Peter Obi. I know if it was Tinubu, I would not be suffering like this. He would have sent for me. I challenge them; nobody in the LP did up to what I did for Obi. Not even the National Chairman, Julius Abure. I was busy borrowing money and selling some of my properties, but all he (Abure) was doing was collecting money. Take for example, how can you collect N25m each from 15 persons in Imo State for the same governorship ticket and he didn’t screen anyone out? Who does that? How did you get treated? After I was shot and reported to the police, I went to the Owerri Health Centre. That’s where they started the treatment. I have been selling my property to treat myself. I sold my SUV of N4m for N1.5m just to pay the hospital bills after the gunshot because I’m diabetic. You can imagine having diabetes with BP and a bullet wound. It was a lot of cost for me during my stay at the hospital. I had to also borrow from some people. One of the people I borrowed N250,000 from has called me for the money. I will have to look for something to sell. I can’t go out again because there is no car. Transport fares costs have also increased. I can’t believe that the LP could do this to me. I was even calling them to send me money for food while I was in the hospital, but they didn’t respond. Only two people did; Dr Omoh and Mandela, who sent me N20,000 and N10,000, respectively. I sent Kenneth Okonkwo the receipt for the car that I sold and called the national chairman, Julius Abure, but no response. I wish it was (Lamidi) Apapa that is the chairman; I know they would have come to see this old woman who suffered for the party. I just came back two weeks ago since the incident happened and am still being treated. You mentioned that you sent pictures of the injury to the LP. What was the reaction of the party to your plight? Yes, I sent messages to all the Labour Party leaders that I was dying in the hospital. I sent a picture of my injured leg to Abure. If I had not looked for alternatives, that leg would have been amputated. None of them visited me even though we have LP representatives in the South-East. They couldn’t send anyone to check on me. If I knew, I would have followed the APC and I wouldn’t suffer like this. https://punchng.com/lp-abandoned-me-after-i-sold-property-to-support-obi-retired-colonel-shot-by-thugs/

Former Rivers State governorship candidate, Prince Tonye Princewill has criticised the organised labour for being too silent on the removal of the subsidy on Premium Motor Spiritual, otherwise called petrol. He said Nigerians expect to hear more from labour given the pains and hardship occasioned by the fuel subsidy removal by President Bola Tinubu. Princewill who contested for Governorship during the 2015 election under the platform of the Labour Party said this during an interactive session with newsmen at his residence in Port Harcourt on Saturday. He stated that though subsidy removal was not peculiar to Nigeria, but the apex government’s decision to do so without putting the necessary measures in place to cushion its effect on the citizens was unfortunate. Princewill who resigned from the All Progressives Congress before the 2023 elections emphasized that the fraud in the subsidy must be addressed. He stated, “The issue of subsidy is deep. Countries subsidise all the time. But in this country, we have a subsidy and we found out that there was fraud in the subsidy. “So in removing the subsidy, what about the fraud? And then look at the pain on the people.” Continuing, the businessman said, “So to me, removal of subsidy is the removal of the fraud of subsidy. “It (subsidy) didn’t just come by surprise. So palliative measures, and countermeasures needed to have been put in place. "We have enough brains in this country to establish things that need to be put in place to make the pains of people a lot easier. “If that has not been put in place as far as I’m concerned, there is no excuse. So it is unfortunate.” Princewill further said spending trillions of Naira subsidising fuel is ‘nonsensical’, saying, “If you are not going to do that, then you have to have alternatives in place.” He added, “If you are going to take away this money and make these savings, then you have to point out what is it you are doing with the money. "The government has to answer those questions. If they don’t answer those questions, people will not forget. I think labour has been a bit too quiet. I don’t know what the negotiation is that is ongoing or not ongoing. But we (Nigerians) expect to hear from labour a lot more in this regard.” The ex-Governoship candidate used the forum to announce that his late father and King of Kalanari Kingdom, HRM. TJT Princewill, the longest-serving monarch in Rivers would be laid to rest between November 29-30, 2023. The late sage spent 20 years on the throne (2002 to 2023) before his passing.

Former Chairman, Governing Board of the Projects Development Institute, Enugu and All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 senatorial candidate for Benue South, Comrade Daniel Onjeh, has appealed to Nigerians to look beyond the immediate constraints which the removal of fuel subsidy is impacting on the populace and rather, rally support for President Tinubu’s policy of total deregulation of the downstream sector of the petroleum industry. In a statement on Sunday, Onjeh stated the good intentions of the Federal Government for introducing fuel subsidy ab initio had long been betrayed by the powerful and greedy cartel that was using the policy as a conduit pipe to siphon the collective wealth of the nation. He said fuel subsidy removal was a bitter pill that Nigerians have to swallow someday, somehow to set the economy on a good course and Tinubu had demonstrated the political will, courage and determination to finally free Nigeria from the shackles of fuel subsidy, by announcing its total removal on his first day in office. The statement added the bold and auspicious step taken by President Tinubu on fuel subsidy removal would secure the future of generations of Nigerians yet unborn; hence all well-meaning Nigerians should rally round President Tinubu to ensure the success of the fuel subsidy removal policy, as well as other laudable policies of the Administration. Comrade Onjeh, who is an Economist, pro-development activist and former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), also stated that every well-informed and honest Nigerian knows that the debate over fuel subsidy in the country had long been concluded, and the final verdict had been that the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) would impact the nation’s cash flow positively in the long run. He added that although the Federal Government had long removed subsidy on Diesel and Kerosene, the previous administrations had been unable to muster the courage and political will to remove subsidy on PMS otherwise called petrol, because they were afraid to face the backlash from Nigerians. However, President Tinubu had taken the bull by the horns. Onjeh applauded Tinubu’s rare courage, which he said was akin to that of Lee Kuan Yew who brought Singapore out of the woods of underdevelopment; adding that Nigeria required a bold and courageous leader like Tinubu in order to right the wrongs of the past and reposition the nation for a more prosperous future. “With the courage that Mr. President has demonstrated by the removal of fuel subsidy, we can be certain that he would not adopt a cowardly approach to the war against insecurity and other threats to the sovereignty, unity, peace and progress of Nigeria. President Tinubu will tackle terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, insurgency and all other forms of insecurity squarely,” stated Onjeh. Onjeh noted that there was no denying the fact that Nigerians were facing a tough time generally due to the decline in the national economy, a situation exacerbated by the sudden removal of fuel subsidy. He however opined that President Tinubu was the right man to lead Nigeria through this crucial period of social and economic reforms, hence urged all Nigerians to keep faith with the President and to give him their unalloyed support to achieve the salient goals of his Renewed Hope Agenda. https://thenationonlineng.net/fuel-subsidy-removal-trust-tinubu-on-gains-onjeh-urges/
