You were bent over, exposing your anus, init? it's standard procedure.....especially when signing up for the army...for example.....exposes pile, could be for hernia too.

Miliary and paramilitary jobs are not the same with this.

Yes. As I said it's not mandatory and more often than not patients oblige. If you insist the Dr can ask the students to leave. It's not compulsory or a law that patients should be subjected to examination by students.

Thank you.

If you're still a doctor keep up the good work saving lives despite the chicken payment from the government (incomparison to the work you guys are doing and what is obtainable elsewhere).

If you're still a student I wish you success throughout your stay in medical school.

Let me start this way. There is a reason these hospitals are called 'teaching hospitals' and everywhere around the world they are licensed to teach students the art of Medicine. Now our lecturers and lecturers before them were taught the same way. Medicine is such that there is no other way to teach students clinicals without exposing them to real patients.

As for asking you to leave that usually is at the discretion of the Consultant in charge. Personally I have never witnessed a patient asked to leave for refusal. At the same time I have never seen a patient who asked for privacy in a public teaching hospital. To the best of my knowledge they already know and are prepared before coming to see the Dr. That is not to say that it doesn't happen. If it does and a consultant sends out the patient nobody will query him for wrongdoing as the laws establishing the hospital permits such teaching. So yes they have the authority to send out the patient but most of the time I see them explaining and appealing to the patient who ends up agreeing.

This is not to say that every patient is examined with students. If for example they have being shown what a cancerous breast looks like already, subsequent patients will not be subjected to student examination unless it is necessary again.

I have once being a patient in a teaching hospital and truth be told I wasnt comfortable but then I couldn't help it as I understood it was the norm.
Now answer this question: knowing that it isnt comfortable for any patient and patients are given the exclusive right to decline examination by students how would they or the Dr that is examining you as a patient learn the examination he is about to perform. Imagine you are about to go for a life saving surgery and previously all patients declined the use of them fr learning or examination. By the time the Drs retire or die how will the students know how to perform that surgery?

I was once a medical student before we have some hitches with accreditation. I know it's necessary for students to learn by seeing things on a live human. As I stated earlier in the previous post, it's my personal thing as many patients are comfortable.

But I don't believe it's a do or die I affair. I believe consultant can ask the students to leave as there are many patients that can be done with.

My brother once decline being treated by medical student at teaching hospital and the doctor did not object that. (Note: the matter is not one requiring to check privacy).

Even Buhari knows that appointment in WTO is for technocrats with astute qualities and not a place of mediocrity and quota system.

As the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, he knows that there's no other person in Nigeria who's best suited for the role other than the person of Ngozi Okonjo Iweala.

Nigeria has a lot to gain having a woman like Ngozi Okojo Iweala with her vast knowledge in international economics at the helm of affairs of WTO in terms of favourable balance of payment in international trade.

So my brother just take a chill pill and relax.

Igbo Amaka men............

I am not against Igbo neither her appointment. Infact I support it, but what I don't like is your attitude (Igbos). If Buhari chooses her because of competence, then it's a good thing.

But rather than welcome the news in positive light and wish her success, you guys be like "it's because there's no other option bla bla bla." Always viewing things from the negative side. Common.

Both of them. Buhari sent Atiku to lobby for Adesina even before may 29 2015.

So far as she is human she can't. I'm not saying she is 100% or a thousand percent. All I'm saying is she is the best we've got that's suitable for the job at least for the time being.

Why is it that it's other people who values things that's under our nose ? We attach no value to them until other people starts appreciating them for their works. I remember Mr. Adesina when he wanted to run for the presidency I'd of the AFDB back in 2015 he didn't receive full support. But now see the exploits he is doing on the continent. Until recently his person wasn't questioned.

He didn't receive full support from who?
Politics / Re: President Buhari Nominates Okonjo-iweala For World Trade Organization DG Post by Fariq: 2:43am On Jun 05, 2020

Okonjo-Iweala currently chairs the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), a public-private global health partnership with the goal of increasing access to immunisation in poor countries.

She also sits on the board of Twitter and is a former managing director (operations) at the World Bank.

On March 7, President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa appointed her a member of the country’s economic advisory council.

A month later on April 10, Kristalina Georgieva, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), named Okonjo-Iweala a member of the fund’s external advisory group.

Okonjo-Iweala is one of the four special envoys appointed by the African Union (AU) on April 12 to mobilise international support for its efforts toward addressing the coronavirus pandemic.

In 2012, she contested to become World Bank president becoming the first female and first black candidate.

She was listed among one of the top 100 most powerful women in the world by Forbes four consecutive times from 2011 to 2014. She was also listed as one of the top 100 most influential people in the world by TIME magazine in 2014.

Guy check her qualifications and achievement above thus far. If I should ask you again, who in Nigeria can favorably compete with her internationally?

She is still disposable. There are always alternatives. Had Buhari nominated somebody else you would have wail that he has chosen someone despite Ngozi profile.

Guy! There's something you guys don't understand. This is an international appointment that has to do with strong representation. Participating countries will send reputable candidates with a strong background in international politics, economics, and diplomacy. Quota system and nepotism don't abound in issues like this. Nigeria needs her wealth of knowledge and experience in gravitating through favorable international trade policies. Based on her stint in the world bank, she's even more qualified than every candidate in Africa right now.

Ist only Ngozi that can do it the whole of Nigeria?

Which 1 is the quota system? The current United Nations President of the general assembly is from which state? Let me educate you in case you don't know, he is from Sokoto.

United Nations deputy sec gen is from Gombe.

Had Buhari decided to nominate someone else, you guys will still cry.

Nepotistically, he could still have damned it all and support the candidature of the current deputy DG of the organization. You cannot be coming up with excuses such as this when the president appoints or support an Igbo for an important position then turn around and accuse him of nepotism when he appoints or support Nigerians from other regions into positions. It smarks of hypocrisy.

Pls leave these hypocrites. It's a disease of hatred, more deadly than cancer.

@DominusPrime

For example in a teaching hospital, I said I don't want people around me what will happen? Will they ask me to leave. Be frank?

Do they have that authority to send me out in a government-owned hospital for asking that only the doctor(s) conducting the exam should be present?

Obviously, I cannot allow many people to observe me unless those conducting the exam.

This is my personal expression, many are comfortable with that.

Imagine yourself as a patient and not as a medical doctor, will you be comfortable that 5 students are looking at you (and in some cases asked to touch you) while a doctor is conducting the exam?

Thanks

Well you can't show off if you don't have anything, we have it that's why we are showing off, the wealth accumulated by northern elite will never end any time soon, in fact, it will reach generations upon generations.

Your southern Politicians don't spend on their children that's the problem, in my street, there is this former governor and senator of one of the eastern state his children also complained in the midst of their peers when they see how their northern counterparts are balling, although he already fixed them in top government agency still they are lagging behind compared to their northern peers. You guys are not contented you don't have what it takes to give to your children.

Talking about human resources who told you that what you saw yesterday that they are politicians children? As I said it earlier on another thread only few are politicians children.

Tell me which of the southerner have ever reach the position of Amina Muhammad as Deputy U.N SG, Professor Abdullahi as President of U.N, Sunusi Barkindo as chairman of OPEC globally, Dangote as richest black man in the world and so many more. Those guys I mentioned above are filthy rich especially Sunusi Barkindo.

You guys at the slightest opportunity given you will look down on northerners with that your outdated stale propaganda of "almajiri" (who cares anyway). Mind you yesterday intention was not to flaunt our wealth, captain Auwal just took a casual picture and our misguided brothers from the South started chipping in with their negative comments, surprisingly to them the guy's dad was never in public office but they won't let him hear word that's why most of us decided to join the trend just to finish what your people have started.

The earlier you people start holding your politicians accountable for your miseries the better, stop blaming the north for your woes we all have governors and FG allocations. Bayelsa has the highest allocation compared to the entire NW states combined.

See finishing.
