In fact, if a security man in a restaurant accosted a customer, he would be risking his job, because residents of Abuja are not as sympathetic as those in Lagos. So, while the random almajiri and some others may actually walk up to you, and a few service providers would expect a tip, for the most part, people are not being hounded to part with their cash here.

Like I said there is no place where people don't beg for money in Nigeria, in Lagos you will get hounded more because obviously there are more people around. Lagos isn't a place for soft people.

If you don't look like the high brow type you won't be accosted but those who appear to be big men or those travelling out will be constantly harassed.

Simply driving into another state reveals checkpoints full of police/military who are only there to ask for money.

At a restaurant to buy food security will ask for money, if you want to park your car at a show, young men will crowd asking 'anything for boys'? Just last week a dozen men were crowding a car leaving a hotel waiting to receive something for the boys.

Even when you travel the first thing people ask you is 'what did you bring for me?', doesn't matter if they haven't seen you in 3 years they will still ask.

Even as a child I couldn't can't eat food without someone asking for a sip or a bite, the same person already had food and like the adults forgets about you once they have what they want.

In the US and other countries, anyone can wear camouflage, soldiers won't beat or arrest you for wearing camouflage and this is the reason no one can intimidate or steal from you with camouflage.

Nigerian mentality, ignorance and pride will not allow them. In a civilised country the crime of impersonation means you are wearing a military uniform with Rank, name, medals and/or insignia.

In Nigeria 'impersonation' as defined by our 'protectors' on the streets means wearing any camouflage pattern at all, regardless of if it is Nigerian or German or Chinese. So even if the pattern was never worn by a Nigerian soldier according to them we are still claiming to be Nigerian soldiers. To compare how absurd this is imagine being arrested and beaten by the police for wearing black on black or a blue shirt and black trousers.

Sha the way our police and armed forces behave like cults and gangs wearing the appropriate colours can save you from arrest and harassment.

if you are a civilian and want to wear Camouflage, join the military.

There is a difference between an ordinary camouflage pattern and a military uniform.

If we as Africans were smart we would know that but rather we would continue to use our position to oppress each other.

The issue is that soldiers routinely beat and kill civilians for no reason so it will be very easy to rob as a soldier. Stop the culture of harassing civilians and nobody will use military uniforms to commit crimes.

Truth is a lot of people talking about separation aren't even thinking about it properly. Like Brexit they just want to leave a situation while still benefiting from it, I'm sure they think that when they go all the oil money profits will be transferred directly into their accounts.

I can bet that a lot of the people here who talk about separation would keep quiet when they realise their families have to choose between their engagements in other states and their villages back home.

According to my university lecturers who made money from the amount of first class produced in the school yes. According to others I've seen make it without those things no. I know of a man who started as a shoemaker and then became a head at one of the major drink companies in the country. He didn't use certificates but experience to get him where he is so don't be discouraged.

Even with my certificate I'm going for another training course to get a more lucrative job.
