FamilyRe: Fathers Who Write Market List: Acceptable In Our Culture? by farous(m): 11:23am On Nov 07, 2014
There is nothing wrong in it especially when the family is not swimming in affluence and the husband may be the only one providing and trying to manage the family expenses to suit with his poor monthly income and may be the wife is not helping matters.Generally everything is on the husband alone, and even the wife or the children all they know is for to take care of them whether money or no money, yet the same wife does not feel the stress of what the husband is passing through, she can write something of hundred naira to be two hundred naira.Or dont you know there are some wives that are heartless and doesnt care about the husbands financial condition and what he is passing through. They believe always on the receiving ends whether the money is there or not,is not their concern. What do you expect the man to do,other than to step in and know how he can be so economical.
FamilyMust Husbands Always Be The First To Initiate Love Making With Wives? by farous(op): 1:10pm On Nov 03, 2014
This matter prompted up yesterday when with friends in a bar.One man raised this question in the process of discussion,--does it mean that it must be the husband that will always first request for love making with his wife. That ever since they got married five years ago,it is always him that will first demand it from the wife, that the wife has never for one day be the first to demand it,and ironically when the game starts, she may sound as if she is even the one that needed it most, yet she has never for one day be the first to demand it and that it seems as if it is now at his own disadvantage as last week he demanded it and d wify said no,that he always demand it.He said he got angry and left her and told her to stay on her own henceforth, the wify replied him that he know he is the one that always disturb her and demand it from her and that she can stay for long on her own and will not demand it."Must husbands always be the first to initiate love making with their wives".Opinions pls.

Guyz should reduce the rate of paying attention to "back loaded ladies" so that it would not be pushing the slim(flat) ones into doing this.Imagine when two ladies are walking on the road(street) and one is "heavily loaded backside" while the other is flat, you noticed that many guyz eye will be on the back loaded lady with nobody looking at the slim(flat). This makes the slim(flat)one feel as if she does not belong and before you know it,they will start nursing on how they will increase their bottom to get attention of guyz and feel belong.Hardly can a lady with big yash passes men on the road, they men will not look back to watch the back load, but what about the slim ones.let men reduce the rate and give the slim(flat)ones the sense of belongings.

Let me not recall all similiar incidence that happened both during the time of dating and after we get married for it will make this post a lenghty write up and time consuming. But a lot of things has happened to the extent we break up and she parked out of my house and came back when we reconciled. All those ones and similiar incidences are lenghty stories.
We worship in different churches,i told her that i dont have passion for some of this spritual churches which most of them one does not know where there powers comes from, hence if she does not want to be worshipping with me in Catholics, she can chose other churches like Mountain of Fire, that i like the church as well and have been with them one time or the other and even do attend their programmes atimes but not some of these corner corner spiritual churches, that i am not used to them and was not brought up that way.And that if she refused and prefer such churches other than Mountain of Fire, then she can continue with them but let her not be taking our son there, that she can keep going there alone. She started attending mountain of fire as she made to believe while i attend Catholics, but something happened that made me discovered that she lies for me.
Sometime ago,she came back to the house one evening and told me that Mountain of Fire are having evening programme which she said she was there and that she just rushed back house to pick somethings as they were told that they will have all night programme. She picked her things with our baby and left. After some minutes,as i came out of our gate,i saw her going towards opposite direction outside Mountain of fire,i was surprised, she looked back and saw me,and she started coming back house.I then went to Mountain of fire to know if they have programme, behold nobody was there, the security men told me they dont have any programme.I was angry but concealed it.As she noticed that i have seen her direction and have gone to make enquiry, she came back house and told me that Mountain of Fire say they will be no more all night programme again.I was annouyed but hold my anger. After this,I still did not interfer or prevent her from attending the night virgil anytime she said they have such or other church programme.
Last month,i came back from work so early than the way i used to come before, our generator in the office get faulty and we closed very early that day than the normal 5pm closing time,as i reach my house i saw one man with my wife in our house, she said he is one of the pastors in her former church when we were living in another side and that she saw him passing by,but the man was trying to say another thing that he has not been seeing her in the church and he decided to ask, while my wife was trying to make different statement. Two of them were sounding in discordant voices. When the man left,i told her why should this man come to my house without even informing me or when i was arround, that if it happen that i did not come early enough today than normal late coming back, will i know that this man came here?,that i suppose to be informed or be arround than for such person to come at this odd hour, that means since you stays in house and i go out in morning and come back late in the evening, you can now invite anybody without my consent.I was annouyed but i concealed it.
Last friday, she prepared and told me that they have tally night at Mountain of Fire church and left with our baby.I stayed in the house and as i was about to do the night prayer,my spirit told me why not join them in the tally night and pray together there.Instantly i called my wife phone number to tell her that i am coming to join them and that she should reserve a seat for me,though she did not pick her number. When i reach there,i started looking for her,but she is no where to be found.I stayed there and participated in the virgil.Arround 1am,i move arround again to search for her and our baby, yet could not see her.I become so upset, that i did not get myself again ,even some of the programmes that night,my body was there while my mind was not as i keep on asking myself what could have happen to my wife not seeing them here. Some of our neighbours i met there,i asked them if they saw her, they say no.We close and back to house, arround after 6 am,she came back.I did not ask her anything or let her know i came the virgil as i await if she can tell me by herself what happened.later in the day,i feel like to make a statement to know if she can open up by asking her the pastor that preached last night, she mentioned one pastor and said that the preaching and everything was very wonderful. This was the statement that incited me most ,when i now told her that if she did not want me to wound her this evening as i am already upset, that she must tell me where she went last night. She say what do i mean that she attend a virgil as she told me.When i become more angry and insist that she told me where she go,she now say she attended one church so,she used to attend before.
Apart from all i said,if i begin to mention a lot of stories that involves LIES i have encountered with her both before and after marriage,it will take many pages of this forum, yet she refused to change. This attitude and LIES has become a second nature of her that all the love i have on her have diminished.I have on several times without number pleaded with her to stop telling lies as it brings lack of trust and as somebody that claim to be carrying bible or going to church, whats the essence of you doing those things and at the same time keep telling lies more and more with some nasty attitude.I am fed up and loosing interest in her(i am repeating it that if i begin to write other things of similiar incidence,it will be many pages of this forum). The love i have on her keep on diminishing as a result of all these. What shall i do or if you were in my shoe, what will you do.Please advise.Thanks.

PoliticsIgbo Scholar Disgraces Femi Fani-kayode •demolishes Claims On Igbo/yoruba by farous(op): 9:50am On Aug 19, 2013
An Igbo scholar, Dr. Samuel Okafor, has made one-time Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, look so small and uneducated by using facts and figures to demolish the claims he made in the controversial August 8 article, “The Bitter Truth About The Igbo”, which set off a storm that almost threatened Igbo-Yoruba relations.

In the first part of an article entitled “The Lies of Femi Fani-Kayode”, Okafor, who has a First Class in History from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and then did a Ph.D in Nsukka on scholarship, dismissed Fani-Kayode as a “half-baked intellectual.” He then proceeded, point by point, to address what he termed “the most reckless amongst the tangle of reckless comments spewed by Femi, a character who with each punch of his keypad stresses his severely unwell conditions of logorrhoea, delusions of enlightenment, history and sociology – amongst others.”

Below are Okafor’s words:

FEMI AND HIS SEVERELY IGNORANT LIES:

•Femi Lies About the Yorubas Being Nigeria’s Earliest Graduates:

From his myopic bubble Femi FaniKayode claims the Yoruba were the first to acquire Western education; the first ever known record of a literate Nigerian in the English Language is the narrative of an Ibo slave who regained his freedom and documented his life history as a slave from the time he was 11 years old in present day Ibo land till the time when he gained his freedom in the middle of the 18 th century. He later married an English woman and had 3 children. He died in 1795.

Femi, a basic Google-research will do you good here; check out the name, Equanoh OLAODAH. Further Femi claims that the Yoruba were the first lawyers and doctors in Nigeria. This is again a big falsehood. The first Nigeria doctor was an Effik man Silas G. Dove who obtained a medical degree from France and returned to practise medicine in 1840 in Calabar. This fact can also be verified from historical medical records in Paris.

I would also ask that you google the name BLYDEN – Edward Wilmot BLYDEN – an educated son of free Ibo slaves who by the mid-19th century had acquired sound theological education. He was born in Saint Thomas in 1832. He is one of the founding missionaries that established the Archbishop Vining church in Ikeja. Before the next time you succumb to your long-running battle with logorrhoea, Femi please do some research.

What about the third president of a free Liberia – President J JRoyle – again, a man of Ibo descent. Please take some time to do some research so that we can discuss constructively. It is wrong to peddle lies to your people. It is academic fraud to knowingly misrepresent facts just to score cheap points with people who do not have the discipline to do research and accept anything you pour out simply because they say you are well educated. To again quote the great Nobel Prize Winner in Economics Joseph Stiglitz; Femi fits into the category of third rate students from first rate universities with an inflated sense of self-importance. Let’s go on!

Who was the first Nigerian Professor of Mathematics – an Ibo man – Professor Chike Obi – the man who solved Fermat’s Last Theorem. He was followed by another Ibo man, Professor James Ezeilo, Professor of Differentail Calculus and the founder of the Ezeilo Constant. Please do some research on this great Ibo man. He later became the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka and one of the founders of the Nigerian Mathematical Centre. Who was Nigeria’s first Professor of Histroy – Professor Kenneth Dike who published the first account of trade in Nigeria in pre-colonial times. He was also the first African Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan. Who was the first Professor of Microbiology – Professor Eni Njoku; he was also the first African Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos. Anatomy and Physiology – Professor Chike Edozien is an Asaba man and current Obi of Asaba. Who was the first Professor of Anatomy at the University College Ibadan? Who was the first Professor of Physics? Professor Okoye, who became a Professor of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1960. He was followed by the likes of Professor Alexander Anumalu who has been nominated for the Nobel Prize for Physics three times for his research in Intermediate Quantum Physics. He was also a founding member of the Nigerian Mathematical Centre. Nuclear Physics and Chemistry – again another Ibo man – Professor Frank Ndili who gained a Ph.D in his early ’20s at Cambridge Univesity in Nuclear Physics and Chemistry in the early ’60s. This young Asaba man had made a First Class in Physics and Mathematics at the then University College Ibadan in the early ’50s. First Professor of Statistics – Professor Adichie who’s research on Non-Parametric Statistics led to new areas in statistical research. What about the first Nigerian Professor of Medicine – Professor Kodilinye – he was appointed a Professor of Medicine at the University of London in 1952. He later became the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka after the war. What about Astronomy – again another Ibo man was the first Professor of Astronomy – please, look up Professor Ntukoju – he was the first to earn a double Ph.D in Astronomy and Mathematics.

Let’s go to the Social Sciences – Demography and statistical research into population studies – again another Ibo man – Professor Okonjo who set up the first Centre for Population Research in Ibadan in the early ’60s. A double Ph.D in Mathematics and Economics. Philosophy – Professor G D Okafor, who became a Professor of Philosophy at the Amherst College USA in 1953. Economics – Dr. Pius Okigbo who became a visiting scholar and Professor of Economics at the University of London in 1954. He is also the first Nigerian Ph.D in Economics. Theology and theological research – Professor Njoku who became the first Nigerian to earn a Ph.D in Theology from Queens University Belfast in Ireland. He was appointed a Professor of Theology at the University College Zambia in 1952.

I am still conducting research in areas such as Geography where it seems a Yoruba man, Professor Mabogunje, was the first Professor. I also am conducting research into who was the first Nigerian Professor of English, Theatre Arts, Languages, Business and Education, Law and Engineering, Computer Technology, etc. Nigerians need to be told the truth and not let the lies that Femi Fani-Kayode has been selling to some ignorant Yoruba who feel that to be the first to see the white man and interact with him means that you are way ahead of other groups. The Ibo as The great Achebe said had within a span of 40 years bridged the gap and even surpassed the Yoruba in education by the ’60s. Many a Yoruba people perpetually indulge in self-deceit: that they were the first to go to school; to be exposed to Western education; that they are academically ahead of other Nigerian cultures of peoples. Another ignorant lie.

As far back as 1495 the Benin Empire maintained a diplomatic presence in Portugal. This strategic relationship did not just stop at a mere mission but extended to areas such as education. Scores of young Benin men were sent out to Portugal to study and lots of them came back with advanced degrees in Medicine, Law and Portuguese Language, to name a few.

Indeed, some went with their Yoruba and Ibo slaves who served the sons of the Benin nobility while they studied in Portugal. These are facts that can be verified by the logs kept by ship owners in Portugal from 1494 to 1830. It is kept at the Portuguese Museum of Geographic History in Lisbon.

Why then would several Yoruba people peddle all these falsehoods to show that they are ahead educationally in Nigeria? The true facts from the Federal Office of Statistics on education tell otherwise, showing that 3 Ibo states for the past 12 years have constantly had the largest number of graduates in the country, producing more graduates than Ondo, Osun, Ekiti and Oyo states. These eastern states are Imo, Anambra and Abia. Yet he calls Ibos traders. Indeed, the Igbos dominate because excellence dominates mediocrity – truth.

Let me enlighten this falsehood’s mouthpiece even further: before the civil war Ibos controlled and dominated all institutions in the formal sector in Nigeria from the universities to the police to the military to politics:

•The first Black Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan was an Ibo man

•The first Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos was an Ibo man

•The first Nigerian Rector of the then Yaba College of Technology was also an Ibo man

•The police was run by an Ibo IG

•The military as a professional institution was also run by elite-ilk Ibos.

Facts can never be hidden. To be first does not mean you would win the race; let us open up all our institutions and may the best man win. Let us not depend on handouts or privileges but on heard work. Let us compete and give the best positions to our brightest – be it Ibo, Yourba or Fulani, and then we shall see who is the most successful Nigerian.

I find it difficult not to respond to some of these long-held lies that are constantly being peddled by Yorubas. One is that the Yoruba have the largest number of professors in the country. I would again ask that we stick to facts and statistical records. The Nigerian Universities Commission has a record of the state with the largest number of professors on their records and as at 2010 that state is Imo State followed by Ondo State and then Anambra State; the next state is Ekiti and then Delta before Kwara State. I am sure you Yorubas are surprised. When you sit in the South-West do not think others are sleeping but I wish to address another historical fact and that is who were the first Nigerians to receive Western education. It is important that these issues be examined in their historical context and evidence through research be presented for all to examine.

I have continued my research for as the great sociologist and father of modern sociology – Emile Durkheim – put it, the definition of a situation is real in its consequence . What this simply means is that one must never allow a perceived falsehood to become one’s reality and by extension individuals who accept a defined position act as though the situation is real and apply themselves in that narrowly defined perspective.

Why is this important to state it is because for long the Yoruba have peddled lies that have almost become accepted as the truth by other Nigerians but it is important that we lay down the facts for others to examine and come to their own conclusion for facts are facts. Let’s go back to education. Historically, Western education resulted as a product of indigenous ethnic groups interacting with the whites through trade. The dominant groups sold slaves, ivory gold and a host of other products to their European counterparts in exchange for finished goods – wine, tobacco, mirrors, etc.

The Bini who were the dominant military force from the 15th to the 19th century raided and sold other ethnicities to the Europeans. Top on the list of those they sold were the Yoruba, Ibo and Igala. Various other ethnicities suffered as a result of the Bini military expansion. And the Benin Kingdom stretched from present-day Benin up to what is now geographically referred to as Republic of Togo. Indeed, the influence of the Benin Empire extended to the banks of the river Niger to present-day Onistha. There are huge Yoruba settlements in the Anioma part of Delta State who fled Yoruba land as a result of these attacks and constant raids. Yes, there are Yoruba people who are currently living with Ibos in the Ibo-speaking part of Delta and they are full citizens of the place no one refers to them as strangers and there is no talk about the Ibos being the host community like we hear from the Governor of Lagos State. But let me return to research. Slaves were moved from the hinterland to the coast and many were sold through Eko to the New World. These slaves were the first to encounter the Europeans and by extension their way of life – this included education in a Western sense. The Bini King had taken pains to establish a diplomatic presence in Portugal and the relationship developed into areas that extended beyond trade in the late 15th century and lasted well into the early 19th century. Scores of young Bpni youth were sent to Portugal and studied there, coming back with advanced degrees in various disciplines. The next set of people to receive Western education were the slaves themselves. Some of them managed to buy their freedom and develop themselves further.

For the Ibo it does not matter who your father is; the question is: Who are you? Who was Obasanjo’s father? Was he the most educated Nigerian? I am sure the answer is no. Yet this Great Nigeria led this nation two times as a military Head of State and as a civilian President. What about GEJ? Who was his own father? Was he the first Nigerian to go to London? The answer is no. In fact, he had no shoes, yet he is fully in charge. So it does not matter if your father was the first Lawyer or first Doctor in Nigeria but rather what matters is what an individual does with the talents the Almighty has given to him. Let us open up Nigeria for competition. That is the solution to our problems. Those who want privileges keep reminding us that their fathers were the first to go to school in London. Every generation produces its own leaders and champions. Like Dangote who is the biggest employer of labour in Nigeria today and the richest man in Africa. Was his father the first to go to study in London? Yet he is the master of people whose parents gave them the best. My brothers, the answer to the Nigerian problem is that we should establish a merit-driven society. “I get am before” no be property.

This is not meant to be tribalistic.I dont know when one bring out an important point and want to extract fact based on peoples opinion, some people will see it as as being tribalistic instead of making any reasonable comment to drive home a fact.If you dont know what to say,you simply read and ignore comment.Forget whether you are from so so tribe and see point to any topic that one can use and extract fact.I believe Nairaland is a big forum.
RomanceAre Igbo Women The Most Tribe That Respects Marriage Vows And Ethics? by farous(op): 11:28am On Feb 18, 2013
From my own view about igbo married women,i begin to see them as the most tribe that honours marriage principles and ethics based on the following observations which is not common in some other tribes if i am not mistaken.

1.Comparing with other tribes, igbo women has low rate of divorce cases in Nigeria compare with other tribes. Here is it very difficult to see an Igbo married women seeking for divorce in a court of law or the woman to carry her belongings and come back to the family house in the name of divorce no matter the challenges they faced in such marriage. They believe once married, its for better for worse.

2.Comparing with other tribes, igbo married women are the most faithful with their husbands.Cases of married women sleeping arround with other men or have boyfriend apart from their husband is very low in igbo land, unlike other tribes.

3.Comparing with other tribes, igbo married women hardly remarry if their husband dies. They still prefer to keep the sanctity of the marriage even when they lost their husband and they will not even have a boyfriend or se.x partner, unlike other tribes who most of them hardly allow their husband to reach the grave yard and they will jump to another man and remarry.

Generraly,i think Igbo women have credit in this regard if i am not mistaken. The only tribe i dont know much and cannot give much information are the Hausa's.Comment please.

Christianity EtcUsing Love Portion/spritual Materials In Work Place by farous(op): 1:12pm On Sep 25, 2012
Some people in working places do perform what they call spiritual things-something that will make them to be loved by their boss and everybody, anything they talk to their Boss or senior colleague, they will accept and do what they say, they will have influence, they can remote their boss to love them and do as they said. They will be controlling almost everybody.Atimes they give it different names-anointing powder, cream, soap, the one you will lick using ur mouth and majority of these people are christians and some of those things are given to them may be by their spiritual leaders or collected from their church.last time i was discussing with a colleague d of mine in the office who i know does such, and she told me that using such to get what you want is not a sin, provided she did not kill.I was surprised, because i do see it that if a pastor can give u such, what is then d different that a babalawo or native doctor give u same thing?,-just because the pastor carries bible while the later did not,and i begin to ask,is it bibilical as a child of God to engage in such?.

Since Tuesday's resignation of Prof. Barth Nnaji as Nigeria Minister;the matter has been a subject of discussions in many places-working place, market, place of living, etc on centred on why why why, this man that has changed power supply for better. For me,i have learnt a lesson that GEJ is not serious in fighting corruption and achieving a transformation agenda.I stay here in lagos, and frankly speaking, off all Past Power ministers,it was only in Nnaji's tenure that i have witnessed steady power supply. Many atimes i ask my colleagues,is this still Nigeria i know?-having this kind of steady power.Seen they say is believing, therefore, good Nigerians/masses have seen Barth Nnaji and believe in him. Now,the cabals in power sector that have sworn that nothing good can come out of this country have hijacked the system, they are all celebrating, what are they celebrating?-"back to business as usual",all in making sure that things remain the way it was and making their billions of naira while the masses continue to suffer, live in darkness, patronizing geneartors, diesel and fuel dealers and Nnaji dont want his integrity to be dented.look at most of the ministers levelled one corruption charges or the other, yet they are still sitting on the saddle with their Master Gej look at them.Truly,Nnaji's resignation is giving me a lot of concern,i am still holding my tears over his resignation because it sends signals that the present administration of Gej is still afraid and unserious in wiping out corruption and all their cohorts.

FamilyIs It Advisable To Have A Male As House Help? by farous(op): 3:40pm On Aug 13, 2012
A friend of mine came to my house yesterday and told me that he had little misunderstanding with his wife.Cause-the wife is nursing some months old baby and has suggested that they look for a house help to enable her have time and assist in domestic works. The husband and the wife are from different tribes and the wife want to bring a boy of 14-15 years who is from her tribe and has just finished his primary education. The condition is that they will be paying the boy monthly salary, besides the wife is a house wife as she has not been working since they married. My friend objected it and said that he prefer a little girl to male as house help.He told me that he wont feel conformtable hiring a boy of that age,and leaving him in the house with the wife while he goes to work, even though the wife said that the coming of the house help will give her time to be going out to look for what she can start doing whether business or to start working than always staying in the house.Whats your advice pls?

RomanceWhich Condom Is The Best? Married Only! by farous(op): 2:08pm On Oct 07, 2011
Please which condom is the best in terms of pleasure, durable and protecting. It is obvious that having flesh to flesh love making with ur partner is the more pleasurable(call it "sweeter").So which type of condom can if one wears,it will still look as if u re having it flesh to flesh,u will not notice that u re wearing anything,ie the pleasure will be the same as having it flesh to flesh and at the same time,it is very preventive and cannot easily break during the process.Mature response please and for the married only, knowing well that se.x is for the married.Remember fornication and adultery is a sin.
