TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by FASTLINK1: 9:01am On Jun 15, 2012
stone4rock: I have finally picked up my US visa last week. sorry i have been unable to share my experience since then based on my busy schedules.
Where do i start from hmmmmmm, God is ever faithful;
i actually forgot my GTbank visa payment receipt in the house still God was merciful. my interview was scheduled for 8:30am having gone thru series of procedural stages my number was eventually called around 12:30pm at window 2..meanwhile the dark complexion brat at window 2 wasn't in her good office 2 issue visa, needless do i have 2 pinpoint that she virtually rejected every other individual that appeared before her. while the white guy at window 1
was issuing visa though he was bombarding most folks with questions but d fact remains that he was friendly..
while i was still hoping to be called upon by a cheerful CO there and then my number popped up at window 2..
"my own don finish 2day"(i droned).

CO: Good afternoon sir, may i have your passport plz.
Me: yea Goodday (i pass the passport thru)
CO: Why do u want to visit the Us?
Me: To honour my family friend's invitation, he has asked me to visit him and his family in d US.
CO: how long has he been in the US?
Me: 3yrs
CO: how long have you known him?
Me: 6yrs
CO: how did he become an immigrant?
Me: Via DV lottery.
CO: does he have kids?
Me: yea he has 2 kids.
CO: where do you work?
Me: i work with .......Nig. Com. ltd
CO: how much do u earn?
Me: i earn about ..........6 digit
CO: are you married?
Me: no, but i shud be married by october 2012..
CO: oh dats nice, fake smile...
Me: within myself (abi u won marry me ni?)..lol
CO: have you traveled outside Nigeria?
Me: sure
CO: where did u travel to?
ME: slight cough, i have been to italy for 3 days, i travel to germany for 6days, i went to the UK for 14 days.
CO: who did u visit in Germany?
Me: i didnt know when i said my sister, whereas it was a family friend i went to visit, i need to spice it up so i added that my sister is a german citizen..(far from the truth).
CO: have you ever imported any goods from the US?
Me: Never
CO: who will sponsor you?
ME: no 1, i will sponsor myself ofcourse.
CO: can i see your bank statement?
Me: i brought it out and handed it to her.
CO: flip thru the pages for 1min and returned it back to me.
Me: kool
CO: Magic Words: Sir could you pickup your visa at ikeja collection center on monday.
ME: Sure (smile)..within me (na u won pick am up for me before? WINCH GURL).
GOD THANK YOU OOOO.
My candid advice is :US visa is not as difficult as people think,i was opportune to sit in-front where i could listen to several folk's interviews.
the basic questions are: why do u want to go to the US?
where do u work?, are you married?, have you traveled out of Nigeria?,
where do u work? describe the nature of your job?, how much do u earn?
These questions are the Preliminary and quite common.
your response is what gives birth to other questions.
average interview time is 5-8mins..
based on my travel history and nature of my job i have a broad knowledge about travel stuffs. if you like to know any other thing about my interview or travel advice you can ask me on this thread,
NA GOD KNOW PASS.

1luv..
Congrats dear!

Since we will be going eith the printed copy i think the Vo will just scan the confirmation and get linked to the new one, i have about 3 siblings in the US 2 studying, and 1 permanent residence. So i want to complete another form and not state that i have anybody in the US to increase my chances. What do you think please.
Yes, you can fill another form, log back into your profile and update your DS160 code.

genxris: @fastlink,it's not abuja for me but lagos and i have got august 10 but my skol resumes by 20th, i reli do want a july date atleast.
My questions are
1. Do i qualify for a expidient appointment at this point?
2. Can new avialable dates open up in d month of june and july and how will i know when their is one?
PLease put me through
It's only the consular unit of the embassy that determines which case qualifies for expedited or not but I believe if you have a good case, you'd be granted an access.
You can only know the available dates when you have created a profile and paid the appropriate visa fee.
I am afraid you not even notice when a date is available for June and April again since you can't be online 24hrs and even if you are, you can't refresh beyond the a certain number of time

kpolli: @Fast-link, cry not fair. . . And its even Lagos date I want
Get back to me lemme know what your problem is.
Thank you

Yes but you have to continue to use your maiden names as appeared in your passport, if you wish to make any changes, that should be done when next you apply for an international passport.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by FASTLINK1:
DC Trendy: I am not really new here so i know i can get advice.

I stay with my big brother. He is married and wife is pregnant. 7months with the baby.

He wants this baby born in the US so they applied for the visa yesterday and paid the hospital bill upfront and have the receipts,

got an invitation from his business partner and accommodation letter as well.

He has his company and wife works with a bank, so they got all the docs and statements of accounts.

According to them, the interview would have been successful but

1.

The VO asked why he was traveling and he said business visit [thinking VO was directing the question to him alone]

then the guy ask what type of business he does etc, travel history which he had and then he turned to the wife, @ this time he taught he was going to ask why

she was going, o they can be able to present the recepits n the letter from the doctor but the VO just ask if she had traveled before? And she said no. And that

was it.

THey said alot of pple were there and the VO was actually rushing.

So they were unable to mention they re going to have a baby and all fee re paid already etc..!!!

He later realized the question [why re you going to the US] was probably meant for both of them!

What can they do??

My brother went to pay for another application fee again today but on getting to the appointment page, no space available until September which would have been too late.

My thought was that they should try and make the hospital send a letter directly to the State department so that they can get an expedient date arranged or something. Do u think this is ok for them? will it not affect or label them?? I am sure, the hosptial will like to do this as they wont like to loose that money paid.

Plz brothers and sisters? help o...If am able to give him a good suggestion, he will be so happy..
Hello!

I suppose you are the one that sent me a mail, here's my opinion:-

They were denied because the wife is pregnant and that is the simple truth. The VO is aware of that, the reason she wasn't ask if she was pregnant.

The only condition she'd be considered on doctor's recommendation is if her situation is complicated that it can not be handled in Nigeria.

Getting an expedited appointment may not really be a problem here but securing a visa with the wife and her condition.

The no travel exprience thing is just an excuse

winnepooh: i need to renew my us visa on B2,i had a two years visa which just expired. is it advisable to use conference as a purpose this time around or just go for renewal? pls this is urgent.
yes you can use conference but it has to be B1/B2, and don't worry, your conference is covered under B1/B2 but be sure your previous 2 years visa was well utilised else it might affect your chances of getting another 2 years.

TravelRe: U.s.a Visa Refusals....pls Advice by FASTLINK1: 8:52am On Apr 27, 2012
Hello, I am sorry if I sounded hash but I have guided a lot of people and very few that were refused came back to me with their reason, which I advised accordingly and thereafter went back and it panned out.

The VO must had said something in reaction to your answers or asked questions that he felt your response was not satisfactory.

There is no other way to appeal beside writing to the consular, stating your case which like I earlier mentioned, should comprise of what transpired during your interview session.

A guy I know that once truncated the application process (which ofcourse failed) was told so the next time he went, and an outright denial was also been meted on him.

You can contact me personally if you don't want to share your offence on this forum, I will understand.

1)what could be the possible reasons?
2)is there any way to find out the reasons?
3)is there any right to appeal?
4)how do i correct this problem if there is any?
5)is there a general problem recently with people who say they are going to buy cars?because thats what i do.
6)how many times can one reapply in a year?

thanks for your candid suggestions

Hello, inasmuch as I pity your situation, I still do not get it when people say that they do not know the reason for their VISA refusal.

Inconsistency in your details could atimes be responsible for such denial, my advice is for you to trace and find out where the polution of that water started.

How many times you can reapply is dependent on the circumstance surrounding your trip and the refusal.

Can you appeal? Yes but how do you do that when you don't even know the reasons for your initial visa refusal and BTW, what did you put as the reasons for those VISA refusal? That could also be responsible since you might be filling "NOTHING", hence claiming the ignorance of an obvious case. angry

Sir P!:
@ all , I want to clarify something, when a family wants to go the us for tourism purposes, does each applicant have to book an interview/appointment separately or will 1 appointment suffice for the whole family.
Hi, you need to pay visa fee for all of them, you can create one profile and add others as the dependents, or you can create an individual profile and therefore book appointment for each and everyone of them.
Thanks

kaffy4tope: Hi,
I don't know if this is possible. I have booked and has beem scheduled for US interview at the Abuja embassy on May 2, I have not filled the D16 or what's it called and due to some reason I wanna sell the date and cancel the interview. The question is, is an interview date sellable?
Hello,
Please change the topic sentence to reflect your inassuring transaction. Dates are not transferable, though cancelled dates emerge much later and also not within your control.

i want to attend a conference in US, i just contacted the conference organizers but the said the dont issue invitation letter but receipt of paymment.
pls i like to knw if the invitation letter is very very important
or can i use the receipt as evidence of invitation
Yes you can.
logically, you are the one that indicated an interest by registering, though the receipt of payment should cover what the payment is for, including the duration of the conference.

ludab: FAST-LINK, I am going to look for job though i am going for a program. My problem is how can i make the consulate believe me with my current status of not married and unemployed?

suxes2006, Yes i am though i need to learn from past interviews. Anyone... Others share your experiences of past interviews
Hello, truth is bitter but we can't help it but tell it "as it is", you have been denied in the past, therefore such detail is still in the database.

If you've got enough money that can pay for the program/conference and also last you for the duration,Good, you can reapply or get someone to sponsor your trip.
FYI, neither of the options above is guaranteed. If a married unemployed can be denied, how much more an unmarried.

ludab: @all, I have been denied US visiting visa twice and i really want to apply again but i'm afraid. I'm single and unemployed, don't know how to convince the consulate in this issue of are you married? what are doing?. Let's compare your views and other things that are necessary
And may we know what you are going to US for? I supposed is to look for a job, and if I'm correct then you don't stand any chance atall, unless you are able to secure one from Nigeria here.

Bem_bem: Is it possible to book an appointment by calling this number I saw on their website (234)-9-460-174 ?
Yes but only when you have had your profile created online but unable to log in to schedule one and note that they can only book for you what is available online.
