CELEBRATING MARK ON HIS BIRTHDAY WITH A SPECIAL GIFT It may not be best of times to feel the need to celebrate your birthday but living testimonies like me, among millions of others who benefited immensely from Facebook are the reasons why you should celebrate and be celebrated. Facebook is a “NATION” that has produced and promoted unity, happiness and greatness among nations; vast majority of people; regardless of age, ethnicity, color and social class. I wrote this piece of literature to convey my appreciation, narrate my story on how I have been inspired by Mark, how Facebook has influenced my art career and also to present a special artistic birthday gift to you. For the 6 (six) months, I worked on a 6FT by 4FT bead painting . The painting is a token of appreciation to a man whose brainchild positively changed my life and elevated my career as an ARTIST. To mention a few, Facebook helped me to: CONNECT with Art educators across the globe for collaboration on different projects. EXTENDING ART TRAINING for children beyond the classroom, through internal exchange programs. EMPOWER youths on various art skills, enough to keep them off street and provide them with good income. My special gift to Mark is a painting that contains over a million beads, each representing the countless number of people that are happy with Facebook, benefited from Facebook and also the number of people in my network.
omoluabiguy: You can actually finish 30 credit units in 12 months if you do 9,12,9. 28 months doesn’t sound right to a sensitive VO. That was my point.
omoluabiguy: Some VOs are lenient while some are super strict with the answers applicants give. That VO you met with was really on top of her game and ain’t letting go of any criteria in considering you even though your interview sounded well, but 28 credit hours in a duration of 24 months done make sense. As a student on F1, minimum you can take per semester is 9 credit hours. Now let’s do the maths, in 3 semesters you’ll be done with 27 credit hours. The total credit hours you mentioned doesn’t tally with any masters corriculum. You either do a 30 credit hours or 33 credit hours. There is nothing like 28 credit hours for masters so apparently she came to the conclusion that you don’t know what you are saying. Sorry about your denial. Try to refire
Thanks for you review
Not 28 credit hour, 28monthS duration ( according to my i20). I said 30 total credit unit , 24unit course work 6 unit thesis (according to the school website )
Was interviewed by a cute black American lady but denied.

I choose to study civil Engineering because i inspire to contribute to the infrastructural development of nigeria, i will be specializing on transportation engineering, this is because nigeria suffers 3 major problem in her transportation System which are bad road network, traffic congestion, n flooding on roads, this are the problem i inspire to tackle as a Civil Engineer
V. O What attempt have you made to tackle any of this problems? During my undergraduate, i did a research on rainwater harvesting system, to control flooding at ogbomoso, rainwater harvesting system is a system for conservation of rain water, so we installed it in such a way that we collect rain water frm the roof top n chanel it down into the open well, n it worked .
V.O How many sch

For any assistance you need, from the smallest to the biggest, we can find a way to make it work.
Landing at San Antonio airport (2hours 30mins) and Corpus Christi airport (1hour) to school are convenient but more expensive.
George Bush IAH (4hours to kingsville) - the most preferred and cheaper option for those landing here for school - is like 35minutes from Greyhound at 2121 Main street Houston and cost around $40 by Uber. Then about $70 Greyhound Houston to Kingsville. This price fluctuates. Plus an additional $15-$20 to get to 'your apartment' from your last stop at kingsville.
There are cheaper options to do this, one being the group >>TAMUK rides<< on facebook. You can also schedule a pickup organised by the school, IAH to school, but you need to book this.
TooMuchSauce: My Visa Interview Experience Today (6:30 am, Lagos consulate)
The whole experience was surreal, the V.O was smiling for the substantial part of the interview, I got so relaxed at some point that I had my hands in my pocket; it's funny because I was really tensed before the interview started as I was the first to be interviewed by the man and I didn't know what to expect.
This thread provided me with all the information I needed, so it's only right that I contribute to it's continuity.
Things I did to keep me sane before the interview: 1) I prayed 2) I took a deep breath every once in a while 3) I had gum in my mouth to ease the tension 4) I tried to crack a smile every time I had a chance 5) I didn't pay any attention to the interview of people before me because I didn't want anything to mess with my head.
Interview: VO: Hello good morning Me: Good morning sir, thank you. VO: So what school will you be attending in the US? Me: University of Texas Arlington VO: oh UT Arlington? (Briefly checked my I20) Me: Yesssir VO: Why did you choose UTArlington? Me: There are three reasons I choose UTArlington over the other school that I got admitted to actually; Firstly, I reached out to a particular professor, Dr. Ramtin Mandani who carries out research in the domain of nonlinear optimization of power systems and smart grids, and I think he was impressed with my test scores, so he agreed that I'd join his research group once I get on campus; and the research he is working on currently that borders around creating a mathematical model for solving large scale optimization problem is a fantastic research that I look forward to being a part of. Secondly, I needed a school that offers the degree as an open ended program that would enable me take courses from other specialization subfields of electrical engineering like renewable energy and vehicular technology and MEMS (He wanted to cut me at this point, I just kept going lol) Finally, the humid subtropical weather in Texas is close what we experience here in Nigeria, so...yes! It won't be an issue settling in and starting my studies (he smiled and nodded in agreement) VO: what programming language would you be using for your research? Me: Matlab (although matlab isn't a programming language per se, I said matlab cos I mentioned something about running simulations with matlab in DS160, so...) VO: Who will be paying for your schooling? Me: My dad VO: what does he do? Me: He owns a company that deals in importation of electrical cables and supplies across the country. V.O: Your undergraduate degree was in? Me: Electrical Engineering VO: And your masters is in Electrical Engineering too right? Me: Yes. VO: Did you have to write any test to get in? Me: Yes I wrote the GRE and the TOEFL V.O: How did you do on the GRE? Me: Told him my score VO: And TOEFL? Me: Told him my score VO: Did you apply to any other school? Me: Yes VO: can you mention them? Me: UNCC and MSU. VO: And you got admitted to all? Me: I was admitted into UNCC but not MSU VO: So what would you be doing after getting the degree? Me: I would be taking up a lecturing position at my alma mata where I currently work as a research assistant, then after working solely as a lecturer for five years, I would broaden my horizon by juggling that with providing consultancy services in the electrical power industry. VO: And you worked in NNPC for a while? (He saw it on my DS160) Me: Yes sir, I was an intern VO: was it like a summer internship or something, what was the duration? Me: It lasted for six months.
He typed for a while; and...... Well, you know the rest. Lol
platypelloid: Hello boss Have you registered with mafits before? Are they real? 50k? I doubt it! I'll earnt GRE is 205 USD So its not possible for 50k Anyway pls do you know their address? Thank you boss.
nevicochidinma: I guess You did not calculate the lies well.....you said you have been unemployed for over six months, and you had to quite the job to prepare for your TOEFL.
Calculating from the time of your TOEFL April 29th to Nov 1 its already 7 months, plus the number of months it took you to prepare.
Sorry for your delay try to prepare more and be calculative with what you say....don't let fear spoil your good efforts.
folmus: The bolded should be the first. If you follow this thread, you will know virtually everything with admission processing.
You still need tips from people ahead before you know what to base your research on... e.g I know of someone that was given a GA in a school that requires GRE without GRE because of his excellent GPA.. Some will want to follow the Guy's footsteps without knowing the real reason behind it.. Inshort we still need current info... Not only relying on the rigid informations on google and so on.. In my language they do say if you ask for direction you can't miss road..
folmus: Yes, my sister. But someone already knew GRE is mandatory for Phd and esp if you need scholarship or assistantship. But insults may not be too good.
Not all knows... I asked the same question last.. I ended up finding myself writing it this year after proper research.
We really don't need to correct people in a way that will make them feel bad ( being Sarcastic, insultive and all)... Everyone started with limited knowledge, we all learn everyday.
Sgttanner: Any Ladokite in the house...?? Should please Holla... How did you go about your transcript?? As this long strike has been a major barrier getting a transcript.. Thanks
I am an ex ladokite.. Am using unofficial transcript tho.
gokuu: My thoughts exactly. I have some decent lecturers tho, I just have to go and sit on top of them to get it done. That'll be my project for the next month, including first draft essays.
As per STEM, see pic...
Hi gokuu, I Read your previous post about you getting 162 in verbal, please can you give me some guide on how you achieved that... I did mine today and had V141 Q163...
