Naomi101: @Fatherof2, Wanajo and @All
Please I will like your opinion on whether to sell or hold GTB, bought at N37 in '07. Also I have
UACN, Ashaka,Flour mills (all bought at their high in '08) do I sell or hold?
Sorry to trouble you but your opinion is highly valued.
Its beta you hold your GTB oh, the final turn around has just begun. But be on the lookout for your exit within the next 20days if you're not a bonus
person. It could peak out before announcement as the bonus rumour is no longer a secret.
Flourmill also i'd suggest you hold too.

@fatherof2,

Thanks a lot. I been dey wonder about Intercontinental. Thanks for the heads up. Really grateful.

Wetin u buy 2day now? I no mind know.

I have learnt something from this bear run. Patience dey pay. "Anything that goes up, must come down"

i just wish I had not bought some stocks this March. Infact our mutual broker grudgeling bought them. He wanted me to chill.

No wahala sha. It is good to learn d lesson now. D rest of d year go different.

Thanks again.
Yeah and enter when it goes down again. I got some Triple Gee yesterday purely for some CICO.This month is their FYE.Its in my safe zone. Not much though.
But next week i have the following in my line of sight before next Thursday:

Zenith,=== I always take position for 9 month results. They're usually very fast in releasing. I'm looking between monday and wednesday.
Air Services,== Being a monopoly. This i expect to be my second run on this one.Next Thursday hopefully.
Skye Bank,=For this one, i'm happy to see its falling. My projection on this stock is that it will make gradual little down movements within the next two weeks.
These movements i expect will be enough to raise a buy alarm for it in about two -three weeks and this will coincide with the Q2 results which i expect
in at least late April/early May to help drive the price up,so its on my fast watch list.
DSR, This is another interesting one. Historically i love stocks that give bonus, good things happen after the mark down. I want DSR to fall to about N37
before wednesday and then i'll go in.It will rise back up, at least for some 25% to be made inside as we await its Q1.
UAC-Prop,  Its also a good candidate for monday entry because i'm expecting their FYE results next month, its in a good position now.

Point of note, rock bottoms are difficult to predict and enter. I enter when i see a stock that has entered or is about to enter a cheap zone/safe zone, particularly when i know its historic behaviour. If it looses slightly, no problem, you're already on the train and in the SAFE ZONE.The train will certainly come to over take your entry price while others will be scrambling to enter because they've been searching for Rock Bottom.

@dbenzd,

On your bank selection, Its an ok plan, but i think all the rest hold fatter profits than intercontinental at current prices.Remember its a loan.
But time is ticking. You have to take positions if u haven't already . Banking indicators are currently very good for those whose FYE are about to expire and will soon expire.0-3months should be your outlook now as we go into April. I did some shopping today so i can ride on people April salary.

yodiyokun: @all we are in Polar Bear territory.

This na attack time, but I no get money
That's usually the case for many, never any money to attack at the tail end of the bear season. I stopped serious buying since february. Everywhere just showing red high prices. Now i'm loaded and will start firing from thursday.Start watching the April banks too. General recovery will start GRADUALLY from April because there will be initial apprehension from investors seeking confirmation of this fact " ARE THE BEARS FULLY GONE ?". Once confirmed, full injection starts.

@ dbenzd

Like i've said before, the next time you need to look out for is about mid year (june/july), when most banks and blue chips have announced, there'll be little left, except zenith, phb,pz and a few others, after this period, do SHORT CICO's, start another realignment and take positions for some 6 and 9months. The more important one is the 9 months. You'll end the year in a blaze of GLORY.

Fatherof2 eterna no even wait for Thursday. e done start im bleeding o!

See me see NSE, na bad result beta pass o!. The new formular is declare a loss and see your share price move.

I tire no be small.
I see am my sister. I see am. I've already collected my killing (sorry Assassination) on that stock, made several millions and spread my loot on other cheap stocks, hence supporting my networth and moved on. Though i still remain some change there because it will never come back to my N16 buy price again.
As per the closure dates, we're close to the end of the First Quarter of Business for the year. I think they just want to round up their activities this quarter including
last years books quickly.

I think igiegba1 made a smart move yesterday on Eterna. Now many will panic and there'll be no buyers on the other end of the line.

igiegba1: I see say everybody don sleep. Thanks to everybody on this forum. Finally exited Eternaoil today    . Is Ikeja Hotel still okay to go into. I placed my order with my broker since Friday still no show.

A secret is no longer a secret once another person don hear except the holder of the secret.
That is why RT Briscoe is enjoying and DSR is suffering. The market anticipates a lot in the price wen bonus rumour leaks.
Most times its beta to take your money out b4 announcement wen you hear bonus rumour months or weeks ahead.
Zenith couldn't move anywhere last year wen dey finally announced. Everybody heard of Bonus since March.
" BUY ON RUMOUR, SELL ON NEWS". Classical case.

I don't know why people are expecting huge upward movements in dangote sugar even with the bonus, the market is currently filled with much better options, stocks will low nominal prices with good prospects, Your regular guy is making a killing doing cico off 5 naira stocks and after 2 weeks, he's made a killing so why buy dsr? huh huh huh
if u buying dangote above 40, what is your exit price?
heard some sharper folks are just returning their loot from first al, capoil, afroil, berger paints et al and these are stocks that all did well over 60%, heck, even ALL my insurance stocks have all performed and will continue to perform better than dsr,
Right now everyone is looking for small cap stocks so dey can make Dangote's own prediction of 10 more Nigerians joining him next year on that  list come to fruition.
I think we'll see a different story on the floor during NSE Q2.

Not sure why people are jittery about DSR. Those selling are the speculators who got what they did not expect. The closure date is damn to close for them to do anything. So they know that they ccannot jerk the price up hence the need to sell.

DSR to me is still a GOOD BUY.
Bonus come dem sell, Bonus no come dem still sell. Sounds familiar.

BY THE WAY PUMPING, ive bin loking at IEI and my avice to you is , no shaking!!! RSI leans to 40 right now, its actually back to the price it started at this year. u might want to average out, at this price i see a possible 25-30% CICO. i also think red star express is looking appealing, at 30% from its year high. i still need more time sha. have yo noticed nigerian breweries, that is now amog the top 10 most undervalued stocks on the NSE.
Right there, SMA's don cross finally.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by FatherOF2: 8:29pm On Mar 12, 2008
Mr. Risky:
I hardly do CICO, and if I must do, its always with stocks with fundamentals. Are you saying M&B does not have sound fundamentalshuh??

Again this reminds me, why are people shouting bear, bear, bear. My portfolio has not reflected its presence because it is still green, except IEI which I wanted to do CICO with and it has dropped giving me opportunity to buy more. Were we expecting the current prices to continue rising without stop? For instance, Footwear N20, AIICO N19, GROMMAC N30, CCNN N90, Conoil N450huhhuhhuh

Early this year I started piling up First Bank and Diamond Bank as well as NGC, Beta Glass and CILeasing, from the prices I bought them, they are still showing green in my portfolio. Only two CICO I have done and with AIICO at N6.07 and I sold at N7.40, entered IEI which has not yielded result and I am very prepared to wait it out. I have my convinction about the company. That has been me. Right now I am preparing a SELL ORDER for my AGLeventis, the largest loot I will be having in NSE. I am ready to settle for any price tomorrow, even if they are giving 10 for 1 bonus, I am out - from N4.10 to N18 cheesy cheesy NSE dealt with me last year before I discovered this NAIRALAND, so this year is my turn. I sold my DUNLOP last week N7.16 tongue Hope the guy who bought it is not living close to my house shocked undecided kiss
