Good evening great people,
Please, my hubby who is my dependent is written on his visa - DEPENDANT restricted work No sportsperson No to public funds.
Does this means he restricted to work on a four years visa granted him? If yes, can it be sorted out in Abuja before departure on 15 of October?

Please your advise is needed.

It's the norm on all dependant visas, just means he can't work in the profession stated I.e no sportperson wakawaka

Evening house..
My wife passed her IELTS and recently passed CBT. She is a nurse in 9ja planning to relocate.
She have started applying for jobs and i hope to join her as a dependent..
Q1. Is it better i move ASAP with her to avoid stories of visa denial (i can chest the expenses).
Q2. Care job and warehouse job seem to be the easiest to find. Whats the average pay /h
Q3. What kinda house should we consider..
Q4. Other tips for me as a dependent.

Justwise, lagosismyhome, lexusgs460

Q1. I am an advocate of moving together once and for all and starting the journey together, but moving separately doesn't mean visa denial as long as all documentation is right. Although approval length may vary.

Q2 . Depends on the warehouse and hours worked, not less than UK minimum wage £8.92 and could be anywhere up to £15 if you do more hours

Q3. If no kids 1 bed flat is fine for you both, enjoy the closeness grin grin, if more than 1 kids 2bedroom ground floor flat or house

Q4. Be supportive, kind, prayerful and all others will fall in place

Good evening my people

Is it possible for a child to be offered admission in reception by council, only for the school to say that they are full at the start of the school when the admission has been offered and accepted?
Because I don't understand again.

Thats odd though, you can call the council to clarify where the mixup is. Could be an admin error or sth

Hello, please I am coming into Bradford in a few days with my 6 year old daughter. She has finished pry 1 here in Nigeria and is currently moving to pry 2. Is there anything I need to get from her current school in Nigeria? Also, will she be able to get admission into a primary school in Bradford for this term? Any tips on how to apply for her?

You don't really need anything asides the Birth Certiifcate and the year she is placed is determined by when she was born. I.e before or after September of any yr. E.g your child born after Sept 2016 will probably be in Reception while those before Sept 2016 will be in Yr 1.

Regarding admission, in year applications can be tricky but not impossible, basically your house, location and local authority will determine the school and if your choice(s) are over-subscribed then they will be placed in the nearest school available, which may or may not be a good school.

The good thing is some schools will confirm availability for your child before you waste that slot when applying. So get a house, research schools you want in the area, speak to the council, shortlist schools and call them up before submitting your 3 or 5 choices to the Local Authority.

Dante is disappointing everyone here. Check their reviews online. I used them too, and I was lucky to get day 2 results in less than 24hours. Test to release results didn’t come till now. Day 8 results too, no show till now.

They also don’t respond to emails and have no customer care line for complaints. Stay away from them.

Oh really sorry you had that experience. What I realise is avoid doing Day 8 on a Sunday as its most likely going to affect your result. The government website stated On or after day 8, so push to a working day when the samples are going to be collected and check the collection times on the box to ensure its not past for the day.

Also I believe I have see a website that stated one may stop quarantine after Day 10 once you have done the Day 8 test .

Meanwhile my baby is now in school oo, I think we are more excited than the child sef. After relocating as a baby, I struggled with childcare, combining fulltime work with nursery runs etc we are now free from Nursery charges grin grin. Although we are porting to Morning and afternoon club cost but its a relief from full time childcare cost.

I learnt a lot on this thread on things to search for when choosing schools, curriculum, school area and neighbourhood etc, so thank you to everyone sharing your ideas.

Now to start researching gradually for grammar schools since most people said better to start early preparation.

The new thing I discovered during my research aside OFSTED rating is a new comparative tool that shows the schools performance in English,Maths and Reading and comparing to Local and England averages. Basically, some schools can be outstanding but have just average performance in those KS1 and KS2 area. So for anyone prepping for next year or midyear application check the below link for more information and also feel free to disturb the Local Authority for information as well. I called severally oo to know my chances in my school preference.

Tell that person to graduate first and use PSW to apply. You can't switch even before you graduate

Thought you can switch once you have completed your academics and gotten a job offer from a sponsored employer.

E.g, Student A completed studies etc in September and can now work full time till visa expires in January, however he landed an HCA job willing to sponsor and is way cheaper for a family of 4 than PSW, won't this be possible?

So guys i feel you can avoid paying for walk in by starting your application early.

This is what I mean. Starting the visa application say 2 weeks before your POF matures .
Pay for IHS and Visa fee then select biometrics appointment date which will be 2weeks ahead.

In 2 weeks time when your statement matures. Print the statement and upload all documents

Then go for your normal appointment.

I'm not so sure how long the application is valid after creating the account but I think you will have about 2 weeks to complete that. So it should work.

By the way, You are free to criticize this. Let me hear what you think

This isn't advisable and doesn't follow UKVI requirements. You must have had the funds in your account for 28days before making the visa application. Hence the wait, but like you stated if one started application early then the rush can be avoided.

Hello guys,
My husband and I came into the UK on Thursday, he started feeling sick on Saturday and not getting any better even after taking malaria treatment. Our day 2 covid result is not back yet but i plan to call 999 regardless. Is there any implication if I do? What is the worst that can happen please?

Sorry about that, could be malaria. There shouldn't be, but be clear to the NHS on the type of visa you have when registering because one wanted to slam us with bill as private before GP registration.

It is good advice for him/her to take driving lessons but to conclude that it is impossible to pass without taking practical lessons here is what I have an issue with. Your only evidence is based on the people you know (which is most likely less than 0.01% of Nigerians who used to drive in Nigeria and have passed their tests. There are excellent driving schools in Nigeria and some companies send their employees there for training[b]. I also know someone who used their 1 year they are allowed to drive before converting to a UK license to get familiar with the roads and passed at first attempt without taking any practical driving lessons.

Thats still some form of informal practical lessons, although I believe it's a risk and not advisable to do that without driving lessons especially when the rules and side if the roads for driving are different. We have seen how a US diplomat wife from America killed Harry Dunn and escaped punishment because of "diplomatic" status.

It is not only the student who is exempt... the student dependant as well. So if your wife is a dependent to a student visa person then she too

Making this not necessary . So only if you are on two different visa category. For example if one was on Tier 2 and another Tier 4

Are you relocating from Canada to UK?

A lot of people don't know this. Tier 4/student and their dependants are council tax exempt. If you have been paying, apply to the council for exemption and money paid will be refunded.

I beg to differ, any license outside the UK license is INTERNATIONAL. Just like I will say I have international work experience in my field as a Nigerian.
I believe making a special driving license by FRSC is only a means for income generation. My brother moved to UK from Saudi Arabia and used the normal license with no reprimand, why should the normal Nigeria driving license be inferior if there were no ulterior motives?
PS I am using normal license.

Inclined to agree @bolded because it's not like it's got anything special about it that differentiates it from the normal one

International license (which is valid for one year) is required if the person wants to drive on arrival to the Uk. The normal naija license is not allowed/recognised.

From what have read the normal naija licence qualifies has international and if that's presented you get your insurance etc.

Thinking about it haven't heard anyone being asked to present either for insurance or sth else. So it could just be one of those grey areas

Please does your comment mean there is no point in getting an international driver's licence?

From memory and other people's experienceon the other thread, I believe the normal naija licence allows you to drive in the UK and no need to obtain the special international licence

As regards building credit score. I read online that paying utility bills don’t help but when you own or default it can affect it. Correct?

From my credit report summary, i believe paying all your utility bills on time really helps because nothing is hidden in this country oo. And if any default then CCJ, hence why its advisable you check it often for any major changes.

Credit building is a long term building exercise with lots of patience and diligence and within 1 to 2yrs one should be on the right track.
