The stoppage of use of naira-denominated atms for forex denominated transactions is a cbn directive. so it cuts across all banks and takes effect on Jan 1st, 2016. so its not limited to china, uae or other african countries, its everywhere and also limits purchase online with our cards as well.

@Favoredgal....I passed thro on my way to work. @ the funds transfer section. Was told I can only transfer 1k dollars per quarter @ N199 which is todays rate and i must have an account and present an ID. I dont have an account with them so I have been able to get 5 friends with account and will begin the transfer. then on the 5th or 6th of January, i will transfer another set since its a new quarter. But must be done 1st thing 8am cause He said they have a limit everyday and other dollar seeking Nigerians also use this medium.

My husband, mum and brother have Fbn accounts, Iv told them to go and book space o!

Also as at today, only standard chartered has sent out that 'cards won't work from Jan 1st'. Other banks I hear has disabled China, Dubai, rest of Africa, etc

But the speculation is that other banks will send their own emails this week and next, don't know how true it is

But these are tough times to be on missionary journey

To the Glory of almighty, had my son today at oakbend medical centre and was delivered by Dr F, the pregnancy journey has been so rough but I give glory to almighty who made alll things possible. wishing all expectant mum safe delivery. also many thanks to all the nairaland mum who made this forum what it is today, without you guys and loads of informations you gave, I don't think I would be here. may God bless you all.


And I can't wait to leave this country o becos of this dollar wahala.

I did Western Union outbound two weeks ago to my sister in the US with Fbn Marina branch. And there were other customers in the branch for same transaction. If u r in Lagos, u can try Marina. Branch FirstBank. But please go early as there is limit for the day.

VO: asked if I v any reason to go to d hospital , or If I v prepared any medical plans.
Me: I said no.
VO: He said if I eventually go to d hospital I wnt b attended to, dat I will b turned back.
Me: Ok.
VO: we r Tryin to encourage couple/family travellin. Ur Visa has been approved.
Omo menh I no fit shout. I jus say thank you waka commot. God is gud.
Unfortunately, we cldnt travel on d 24th of Nov due to my hubby's tight working schedule. So we v decided that I Shld wait & v d baby in US.
I v learnt 4rm d lovely mama's in d house dat I will need to mail d embassy of my change of intent.
I will b due in march 2016 & I intend travellin in mid Jan as my ticket has been booked already. I intend birthing in Texas, Elpaso. Thou will spend time in Indianapolis 4a month.

Just give birth to your baby in Nigeria, cuz even if you enter from a safe POE. It's in record that you were asked. You won't be able to renew this visa

The change of intent you read about is not for people that were pregnant and went to the embassy 'packaged' or people who 'outright lied'.

Do yourself a favor by saving yourself the embarrassment of a possible deportation / ban

Regarding Stanbic & getting PTA, been on the matter for over a week. I did have to open an account with them but was told they are out of $ till January and don't know when in January it'll be available. So January travellers like me are in the hot seat esp considering the current $ rates knowing it will not get any better soon. Abeg to those who explored the First Bank Western union transfer...did it pan out?

January travelers. Una stil get time nah. What of people leaving this weekend/ next week. No PTA anywhere, even the western union most banks are out of their quota for the quarter (at least Jan is a new quarter)

Lot of uncertainties if bank cards will still work offshore once it's Jan first. Seems the only option now is to buy black market which of course is at an all time high of 280 to a dollar

This are not good times to be out of the country

I was told by Stanbic staff that a month old account is what they can use for PTA, maybe that was why they said you should wait till January.
While not explore FBN asap before they also reach their limit or CBN change policy. Access has reached theirs.

@ Favoredgal, have dropped the idea of PTA for now cos I only want to go on biz. trip, I think will go for western. Union, a friend will collect overthere, credit my account while I shop online.

That's not why. Stanbic doesn't have PTA at the moment. My husband has an over 5 years account with them. No bank does at the moment, where he no waka go on Friday.

As per FBN western union who has successfully done it recently?

my baby was breech at 32 weeks but head down now. same for Zaynie, she was even able to have a VBAC
