Only if you legally reside in the country via:
Work permit
Study permit
Diplomatic visa
Residence permit, etc.

If you just travel there for the purpose of applying for visa, or you are on a temporary visitor’s visa, you will most likely be denied.

Med38:
Can one apply in neighboring country like cotonue or Togo?

Go ahead. Your old passport number will be on the new one. Besides they won’t check appointment confirmation letter (my experience when I submitted for a colleague with error in passport number on the appointment confirmation letter). However, ensure that you don’t submit your application form -yet so you can change the passport number to the new one once you get it.

Malevonent:
so my passport is about expiring and am in the process of renewing it. however i want to book for IW, with my old passport. and get an early date. i want to be sure, it wont cause problems, when i get m,y new passport, with the IW date already scheduled

I wanted to share an update on this case so others in similar situation can learn from the experience:
1. I made the IW submissions on behalf of the 3 of us at the DHL Office in Abuja.
2. The appointment confirmation letter/email (that contained the error) was not requested, just the DS-160, the Passports and Passport Photograph.
3. The visas were issued except mine that returned a 221g (long story) but that has also been issued.
4. Timeline of submission -took exactly one month for the issued visas and an additional one week for my 221g.

Very special thanks to everyone that offered suggestions when I first brought the matter here. While I advise that applicants should ensure that they check their submissions for errors, a typo in the appointment data would not affect your submission.

Goodluck to everyone applying.

fcisca:
Good day Nairalanders and US visa gurus. My elderly colleague made a mistake in his passport number on the appointment portal, but not on the application form. Will he be allowed to submit to dropox? The Passport number space is locked for editing and the appointment is next week. KIndly advise

PS: The names and passport number are also correct on the bank payment receipt.

Same with me
I sent mail no response

Am thinking of updating my application online to next date.

What do you think guys?
I’m not sure you can still edit your submission once the processing has commenced but you may wish to try. Also for tourism visas, they may still issue after your date has passed knowing that you can always reschedule your trip.
I’m my own case, I’m going for a conference starting on Monday.

I experienced something similar, don't worry it will drop anytime soon. Hope you haven't paid for your flight ticket or accommodation.

Thank you for your response @Newboy1102.
I have not paid for flight, but the accommodation booking would automatically debit my card by tomorrow.
The organisers in Brazil emailed them yesterday and they replied that the application is still in process. Will my visiting the consulate in-person to nudge them change anything?
Thanks

Dear Nairalanders.
My travel date is in 2 days time and I'm yet to hear from the embassy. I have sent them emails but did not get a response. Anyone experience this?

Hello, how did you get them to send you a Biometrics request letter please? Thanks

nwauwa:
i had a biometrics issue. I Paid for biometricsalongside visa fees when I submitted my application as my previous biometrics expires in May, they sent passport request first(which meant if I submit passport, my visa validity would be May) so I started contacting them everywhere to send biometrics request letter. They eventually sent it after 5 days, then the struggle to get biometrics date, had to eventually pay for vip (37,200) and on biometrics date, I wanted to submit passport but they refused .

Do u any idea how long it takes for them to acknowledge a sent package? It was received by them on Wednesday, how long does it stay with them before it’s sent to embassy?
Travel / Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by fcisca: 1:10pm On Nov 16, 2023
Thanks.
I submitted my application on November 3. I didn't need to give biometrics at this time since the last one is still valid.

Jossy43:

Good morning Dear Nairalanders.
I submitted my application on 3rd November and woke up to the mail for the original passport request this morning. I have a couple of questions please:

1. Can I submit my passport by proxy? Like to send someone to submit my passport for me.
2. Which is faster for Passport Return between Abuja and Lagos?

Thank you all and all the best to those still waiting for their good news.

Thank you @NotsonewMary and @Earthrealm.

After six hours at the DHL Abuja, I collected my passport with the visa issued.
If you wish to spend less time, get there before 6AM and you may be lucky to be among the first 20, then you are certain to be done by 9AM. Goodluck to everyone in the application pool.

My apologies for responding late to this.
Speaking from personal experiences, your work permit is a legal status. Your home ties give a double advantage.
Samxx:
but I have more home ties to Nigeria , I have a work permit in the country I am going but no ties there at all but all my ties are in Nigeria , family , property , business

Good day nairalanders. Happy Eid to everyone celebrating.
Please does anyone know what it looks like or care to share experiences with picking up their passports from DHL Abuja? The IW submission was hellish and I need to know what to expect at pickup.

If you have a legal status in the country where you’ll be for the 6months period, you can apply and do your biometrics there.
Samxx:
is it possible to do biometrics ahead ? I plan to submit my application from Nigeria soon but I will be traveling for about 6 months by may , is there a way I can do my biometrics while I go ahead with gathering the rest of my documents ?

Dear Kweje,
Our circumstances are similar:
My ward is going to University of Manitoba and she is also in her first Semester here. Her study permit application has been submitted and she’s going for medicals on Monday.
Could we link up please?
Regards.

Hello Everyone,
I’m quite new to the platform but been reading a lot over the weekend. Great content and help in here.

Please your wise input from the house.

i am about to submit my daughter’s study visa application, i curious of the implications if i say No to the question “ post secondary institutions” - she is just in her 1st semester and it was not declared in her applications to her Canadian University. Must we declare this? As she wont be asking for credit transfers.

Secondly, i gave birth to her siblings in America, adding their US birth certificates, would that affect home times?

My daughter has extensive travel history to US, UK, Australia. She is also still a minor (16).

I hope i posted this correctly. Pardon any errors.

Thank you for the spirit of Ubuntu on these pages. For those who have successfully scheduled IW dates for Abuja, did you get the standard Dropbox confirmation letters or the consular appointment confirmation?

You can call the airline’s Nigeria office and have them book the flight for you over the phone, they’ll give you the naira quote and payment instructions.

Alternatively, use Wakanow, you get charged in naira and their prices are almost the same -even cheaper sometimes. But for Wakanow, your travel dates must be firm, hardly any room for change.

Hi everyone. Please I need your assistance. Which airlane can you book from Lagos to UK that allows you pay in naira. Everyone I'm seeing is USD. Thanks

Get tretinoin cream or gel. It’ll get worse before it gets better because the tret will purge your skin.

Health / Re: My Skin Has Gone Bad. I Need Help! (Disturbing Photos) by fcisca: 10:53pm On Jul 13, 2020
This is fungal acne, that is why it has refused to go even after all the treatment. Retin-A would work but get the Tretinoin Gel variant. Be sure to apply only to the affected part, also note that it may get worse before it gets better because retinoids will usually purge the skin by breaking out all the acnes under the skin before clearing it.
You have to be patient, acne treatments could take up to 6 weeks before a noticeable improvement in the skin condition
SaAyomikun:
Hi Nairaladers,

I've noticed these acen-like spots on my face since around 5 years ago. Then, I didn't pay much attention cause I was erroneously convinced into believing it was caused by eating too much oil. Well, I cut down my oil consumption totally and those spots remain there.

The shocking part is they exist only around my eyes. The remaining of my face is smooth except around my eyes.

I have used several ointments including Ytacan and Funbact- A, still no difference.

Recently, somebody prescribed an ointment called "RETIN-A" for me but before using it, I wish to seek advice from the good people of this forum.

Please, do I go ahead to buy the RETIN-A or there's a better option?
I need advice, please.
