Ok. Well it just looks like fighting to me on my end... guess the fact that it's the written word has something to do with it, I can't decipher tone from that. But so long as everyone's ok on hear than I'm good too.

It's not that I'm not spiritual in the sense that I don't believe in a god of some kind. It's the fact that people fight and quarrel like this about things that really shouldn't be fought over. It's stupid to me, especially when religion is brought into it.
Christianity EtcRe: Seun Doesn't Exist by FeelDeMusic: 8:16pm On Feb 16, 2018
I have five words to say about all this.... this thread is fucking pointless.

Live and let live folks, let us be tolerant and let's not start senseless and alarming virtual fights just because one person believes in God and the other doesn't. Let's not insult, let's not defame, let's not scream. In fact, let's just end this entire thread for all I care.
Nairaland GeneralSensorship? by FeelDeMusic(op):
Hello everyone,

So today I was writing on a thread in the romance section about male vs female circumcision... why this was included in that section I have no idea.

Anyway, I had written the names of the male and female privates, obviously, because... well.... why couldn't I? I was talking about circumsision for god's sake!

However, I have noticed that the words for those parts, as well as for the very word g e n i t a l and g e n i t a l i a are replaced with words like "joystick", "instruments", and other such slang terms.

Is this some kind of censorship that's present on here that I'm not sure about? Is this a censorship issue/law in Nigeria that somehow requires you to block out words of male and female reproductive anatomy and, perhaps, other sexually suggestive or offensive words? Or are people really so sensitive as to cringe at the mention of these parts or that kind of language?

Someone please explain, thank you!

BTW I live in America.

that is a nice idea also. But what I actually mean is where we can socialize on the web cam.... We where can really see each other..... It can be private that will support video conference among monickers that care for each other
Oh, I see. Well that's pretty cool, I like that idea! Especially if it's only amungst people who you trust.

Thank you!

Also do you know why some words get censored on here, spicifically those dealing with private parts? Maybe this is some kind of sensorship law or something that I'm unfamiliar with in Nigeria.... I live in America. Or, as I said, are we really that offended with the word p e n i s? haha

Emmytes:
It's clear that nobody is intelligent enough to understand and answer my questions.

to rephrase the question, Why is there circumcision at all? If it's bad for the females, it should also be the same for the male. Why arent they left the way they are from the beginning ?

If you say circumcision is bad for females and should be stopped, why do you do it to the males?

And please don't bring in religion into this, I don't indulge in fables and fairy tales.
I completely and totally agree with you Emmytes. I don't care what anyone may say, whether they are making a religious argument or otherwise, circumcision of both sexes is, in my eyes, wrong, inhumane and pointless. Do not destroy something which is already perfect and designed to perform a function and a roll for someone. I believe God (not the Abrahamic one) made everyone perfect, that the body is one of the most amazing and beautiful things to ever come to be, and that destroying the body, destroying something so wonderful and sacred is one of the worst things one can do to another or themselves. I am against circumcision in all forms and for each gender. Period!

As for why it's ok to circumcise a male and not a female, I think it all comes down to religious and cultural superstitions and ignorance, really, that's how I see it. All of these folks propagating bullshit about how removing the foreskin is beneficial, protective, and healthy for a male child refuse to look at actual facts presented about male circumcision--again, the foreskin has a roll to play, it keeps the penis protected from many things as some people have mentioned on this thread. Furthermore, it's like a hood to protect one from the cold or a case ;to keep a delicate musical instrument safe from harm, and as we know the Instruments of each gender are delicate organs. Many also say that it's aesthetically unappealing for men to have foreskins, to that I say "who cares"? I'm blind, number one, so to me whether someone who I may have sex with in the future is circumcised or not would be the last thing I'd worry over. Secondly, this whole concept about "pretty joystick, ugly joystick" is a societal construct, and in my head that's an automatic dismissal of the issue right there.

Anyway, those are my reasons as to why it's ok to cut the foreskin of a male but to leave a female in tact.

Also why does NL change the word for the male Instruments to "joystick"? Are we really that offended? LOL

Or maybe they just don't want to do it.
Awwwwww..... thank you so much wilsonreuben, I really love technology, both software and hardware, tech fascinates me and being in North America gives me a huge advantage to be able to get the latest tech and go on many web sites and see how they work for me. Nairaland GeneralMy Suggestions For Corrections To NL by FeelDeMusic(op):
Hey y'all,

I'm just putting up here my suggestions that I think would be very benifitial to NL and how it opperates.

1. Allow an alternative private-messaging service other than email so that privacy can be kept between members.

2. Allow the Nairaland app to be available on the iOS platform.

3. Allow NL to email notifications each time a new post is added to a topic so that one will not have to constantly come back to NL to check.

4. Allow more graphics/images/emoticons to put in posts.

5. Allow time zones to be set if one does not live in Nigeria.

6. Have likes or shares on posts be seen with the name of whoever liked or shared below them so you know who liked or shared.

7. Be able to sort new, recent, and trending topics by section so that one can find posts from a preferred section.

8. Allow Nairaland to have an advanced search feature, so you can sort by topic, mention, user, image, video, etc etc.

9. Allow members to PM each other in groups--so for instance, allow one member to message two or more members in a private group.

10. As Vaxx mentioned, allow video conferencing as an option for registered members, as part of the general PMing feature. Any member can call and talk to another, however this has to be done privately of course. Group calls can also be made between two or more members.

11. Allow threads to be searched by different criteria or keywords.

12. Allow people to search a spicific users' posts/sort their posts by section, for instance only see the posts/topics found in the religion or celebrities section.

Well, that's all I've got. Yes it's long but I really enjoy giving feedback to web sites like this, I'd like to maybe have a little side career as a site designer/operator in the future.

Hi Folykaze,

Wow.... this is such an amazing and good explanation about the Yoruba concept of an afterlife and death.... wow! You explained it so precisely and so simply... honestly for things like this I need a very dumbed down explanation since these sorts of concepts can be extremely complex and deep, and although I can understand these kinds of things fine, I need them to be described to me very simply.

Anyway, I still really love your take on this and I sort of agree a little with this philosophy.

15 Divination provides a road map to your destiny.

16 You can not fix things. you must repair what is actually causing the problem.
Interesting! Is this from the Ifa Foundation? I actually was on that site for some time looking at a lot of their posts and found them very cool.

I never really suggested there was any Heaven or Hell, but I thought that there was some kind of realm where the ancestors of people would go if they were decreed as such. If that's the case, what does it look like?
Christianity EtcRe: What's The Yoruba Traditional Belief Of Afterlife? by FeelDeMusic: 7:49pm On Feb 13, 2018
Hey, let's continue this thread! I enjoy the people I'm talking to on hear and think you all have a lot of cool and really interesting information to share!
Does the Yoruba ancestral realm have a sort of description like Heaven? Is it beautiful and big and sparkling? Or does it look just like Earth or the realm where the normal humans live? I'm sorry, I just find this so awesome, and since I'm a huge fantasy writer I'd really love to incorperate traditional Yoruba mythology and spiritual concepts into some stories I write.

Cheers
Thanks Shadeyinka! I've actually heard a lot of these drums, as I said I have a talking drum myself, I agree that the bata drums aren't talking drums even though people classify them as such.... Vaxx, do you think you have some input to give?
