Gospel2Day: You're very correct. On assumption of office, Biden terminated the Keystone Pipeline project from Canada. They thought they were undoing Trump, not knowing they're putting themselves under the power of Putin. One horrible mistake America will not recover from soon is not giving Trump a second term. In addition,he criminalize investment in fossils by corporate America, today he's all around the world looking for same oil.Inflation in America today is at a forty years high due mainly to high energy cost.As we speak,Europe gives Russia a billion euros everyday for gas and oil imports.During Trump the Russians earned less than five hundred. In effect, Biden's energy policies is fuelling the Ukrainian invasions which wouldn't have been possible under Trump |

texazzpete: This may well be the most unintelligent post I’ve seen on Nairaland in ages. what does anything you’ve posted have to do with Climate change?
You say climate change is a Chinese hoax, but the same China is leading the world in solar energy investment and rollout. The point of my post is the fact that Russia cannot be sanctioned given the huge level of dependency on it by the west for energy. This was occasioned by the West's divestment from fossils and switching off of Europe's nuclear power in the name of climate change.Imagine Europe sends a billion euros everyday to Russia in return for gas. Before the war, Russia earned six hundred. This explains why the ruble is doing even better in the face of the sanctions |

Biden fought hard to destroy America's energy indepence put in place by Trump in addition to ensuring a massive divestment from investment in fossil fuels production around the world, under a so called climate change agenda.Obama encouraged Merkel to switch Germany's nuclear power stations under same climate change agenda. Now they now find themselves helpless with a Putin who is smart enough to exploit this situation to pursue his anti NATO move. When Trump saw this coming and branded climate change as a Chinese hoax he was severely mocked as ignorant. Now everyone should understand how intelligent he was |

MangekyoAlt: Dem say make you go school and get your empty, coconut isi ewu head educated, you no hear. Where you see USA in the thread, abi you think USA is UK?
The purpose of all these sanctions is to force Russians to remove putin from power. But according to one site I read two days ago, a pole was carried out and more than 69% of Russians are supporting putin now, more than they've been for a while now. Clearly, even a fool can see that those who are imposing the sanctions, are suffering from the sanctions The German leader has even come out to say he won't impose sanctions again because the ones they meted out are already badly affecting their economy. Putin will remain as Russian president till 2036, or even more. Russia is one of the biggest food and fertilizer exporter and their biggest customer is Europe and Africa. For a country to have more than enough food to even export should tell you how self sufficient they are. So my friend. Putin isn't going to regret anything. The west AKA USA and dirty, stinking lapdogs like small Britain threatened all these sanctions. He knew they would carry out their threats but still went on with his plans. I'm sure they have been preparing for this since Crimea As per the so called"polls', you need to know that all the polling agencies are controlled by the Kremlin so you can never be sure.In addition, only state controlled media is available to the Russians and they daily keep hailing Putin and spewing out all manner of propaganda. If these sanctions were not hurting, why are essential commodities like sugar, flour, cooking oil being rationed at the shops?it actually takes a long time for those sanctions to actually start kicking in |

Biden is not weak the Trump you worship is busy worshipping Putin under Trump America increased its interest rate in 2018 go and read and stop embarrassing yourself. The current carnage in Ukraine is occasioned by Europe's dependence on Russia for it's oil and gas supplies.Under Trump, the US pumped fourteen million to fifteen million barrels per day and could afford to support her European allies with oil.Biden,in pursuit of climate change reversed all of that down to some ten million, making the US sort of energy dependent.Meanwhile,Obama had earlier encouraged Merkel to switch off all of Germany's nuclear power stations in pursuit of same climate change agenda placing that country in total dependence on Russia for energy |

Cptflint: Ukrainians are dying in thousands. Both civilians and non civilians..all you can say is this..a soldiers Life belongs to its country. Russian soldiers are doings what they are assigned to do. Ukrainian cities are being leveled..and Russia is not even using much force as what they did to Syrian rebels. What we need now is Ukraine to compromise on russian demands. Because after This humanitarian corridor has closed only God knows what Russia will do to them.. might nuke Kyiv. And European Union has ran out of sanctions. Making mockery of themselves... USA has ran out of sanctions. They have begin to realise that sanctions won't deter Russia. Its a pity that Ukrainian civilians have to suffer because of the puppets of a commedian president...
And for you people saying that Russia would have over ran Ukraine within days failed to understand that whole scenario. Ukraine now is a bait for NATO and Russia is looking for a way to have confrontation with NATO. And Poland is championing it. Just let Russia jet be shot down by polish jet..and all hell will let lose. Right now russian citizens have started to support their government in its military operations with new discoveries of 26 bio-weapons labs in Ukraine operated by USA and NATO all against Russia...if Ukrainian has Indeed killed 10k russian soldiers...how many Ukrainian soldiers have been killed. Now fighters all over Europe are been recruited to join Ukrainian force's...i hope that before the humanitarian corridor closes, peace will return to Ukraine because Russia has a lot of unholy bombs in its arsenal. A bait is meant to be taken by the hunted so as to finally get it in.In this case, the west has always targeted Russia for destruction but has never had any justifications and this Ukraine invasions gives them a good reason to impose those restrictive sanctions.Right now, the ruble is crashing and their stock exchange is closed, meanwhile, the sanctions have yet to kick in as it's too soon for them to take any effect |

oluwaahmed: The foreign reserves are being stored in the Russian central Bank while part of it is spread across Europe. While $125bn dollars stored in the CBR & $75BN in Gold that amount is not enough to cushion the impact of the sanctions on the Russian economy. Note that I said the Russian economy will suffer in the short-term ut will definitely rebound in the long-term. However, it is important to point out that Western countries have not limited payments related to Russian energy resources, which constitute 50 percent of Russian exports. In this way, Europe guarantees that energy prices will not skyrocket and damage its own economy.
For Russia, this means that it will be able to offset the negative impact of financial sanctions with a solid current account balance due to proceeds from raw materials exports, which are not threatened. Furthermore, the scale of application of sanctions by the EU is significantly less than that of the US, which leaves the possibility of virtually unlimited payments in euros(also note that crypto currency use has skyrocketed in Russia with BTC recording gains) This means, for example, that while the dollar accounts of a sanctioned Russian bank will be blocked, its euro accounts will be operational. This is very positive of Russia, almost having no impact on it's economy.I wonder why Putin would call those sanctions a declaration of war |

oluwaahmed: No bro, their reserves in dollars does not mean it is stored in the US. It only means that as the dollar appreciates, so will the value of their reserves. Also the numerous sanctions has made Russia a rogue state meaning that the US has basically increased the number of rogue states. Therefore Russia will trade with China, Vietnam, N.korea, Iran creating a parallel economy. Dont get me wrong, the Russian economy will suffer in the short-rin but will rebouncein the long-run especially as they are still trading with the 2nd largest economy in the world(China) while many African countries Ashill repay their interest loans and rely on the for military hardware. so where are they stored that you call them dollars and foreign?why then is the ruble fast losing its value?it should have been gaining strength,at least for speculative reasons as is always the case with dollars if your analysis are right. You think the west don't know what they are saying by freezing their foreign assets?if these sanctions were meant to be a tea party for Russia, why is Putin calling them a declaration of war?as we speak,no flights are leaving or flying into Russia neither is shipping, how does that make the Russian economy even stronger?go and read the history of how the USSR was destroyed without firing a bullets and let's chat better |

Mynd44: Oh well…..
I remember saying it days back that Poland will not send its jets to Ukraine because 1. They don't have enough for themselves in the first place 2. Sending the MIG-29s into Ukraine leaves a vacumn that cannot be immediately filled as America wont send them replacements immediately.
Some said Poland does not need the Jets immediately because if Russia attacks Poland NATO Will respond but how long before NATO responds? If Polish skies are left undefended until NATO responds, then there might not be a Poland at all if Russia decided to do the unthinkable and strike them my problem with our Nigerian people is we are too intellectually lazy to properly analyse and understand things. You think NATO is some kind of civil service that it will take them that long to respond? recall that America have precise intelligence that Russia will be invading Ukraine on that same Wednesday it attacked, infact Zelenski was even accusing the US of hyping things. The point I'm making is the US has always had a higher level of intelligence over these things. On the one hand, may I let you know that NATO is always in a state of war and it doesn't have to take them anytime to deter attacks not to talk of responding. |

Brexxit: Some of you will just open mouth waaaa! yarning thrash without researching.Ekuke analyst.
Current inflation in US is caused by the supply chain crises as a result of reopening the US economy after shutdowns from coronavirus coupled with high demand from consumers.
Biden made the best decision to pull out from Afghanistan, they should take responsibility for their own country,US can't keep wasting resources there.
Putin would still have invaded Ukraine with or without trump in office.
I know y'all are still pained over Trump loss.
Bunch of sore losers! You and all the people liking your reply must have been ardent BBC or CNN one way watchers.Current inflation is largely caused by an oversupply of money in the economy, something which Trump opposed along with the prolonged lockdowns.Inflation is fuelled when money supply is ahead of productivity.Biden kept Americans at home and kept sending them dollars, you should guess the result of people spending without producing.Talk about the Russian invasion, you recall Trump had to threaten NATO to up there defense spending or he will be having to pull out the US from the block. At the time he was mocked by the media and Democrats but we now see Germany and most NATO now realising that and now promising more defense spending. If that would have been the case earlier, probably Putin could have been deterred.Currently, NATO is less battle ready due to years of defense under spending. But the most reason why the west cannot overwhelmingly respond by way of sanctions is because they are energy dependent on Russia and do not have an energy strategy.Under Trump America became an energy exporter, but all these efforts were thwarted understand Biden by criminalising fossil fuels investments and banning the Yellowstone pipeline project for example. The passion is for greener energy which has yet to prove itself as capable of providing Europe with it's energy needs |
