Aareona: Earlier this year, I went back in time to few years back when I was doing so well in Nigeria. The noises from friends and all nurtured the decision to move abroad inside of me. I became so restless till I finally leave. The first day in Canada was the day I knew this place isn't where I can be forever. Most of us would have come back before the time we had in mind except for the fact that I don't still have enough. If I want to travel to naija for vacation now, I will need up to $4k. If I take that away from my savings, I don't know how I can recover.
No one tells about the downside of this place. I feel lonely, depressed and empty most times. Because no one to talk to, just everyone in my workplace goin about their business. If I make attempt to talk to them, they just waive it with a smile. It's been 3years here and the people I still talk to on video call are friends from Nigeria. It's been 3years and my savings is still Short of $20k despite how much my friends in Nigeria do tell me how easy it is for me to make money abroad but I never tell them my situation. I can't wait to make enough and leave Canada for good. I know a lot will come at me with the usuall "come back to Nigeria na", please this is not an attempt to denigrate your abroad heaven, just for me to rant out and be fine Hi…DM me let’s connect. |

What is your yardstick for a better standard of living? If your measurement revolves around money (earnings) alone, my brother your journey has not started. Pierocash: .People like you are the reasons young Nigerians don't think they can make it in Nigeria.
What Agbaje pointed out is nothing but the truth. How will a bank executive resign her position and relocated to become a health care assistant and all you could do is to justify it by saying she earns a decent pay. What kind of life is she living there and how much does she earns? You are talking of fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram, those people running away from Nigeria are not even in there region of bandits and Boko Haram, these are Southerners using Boko Haram as the excuse to japa only to end up with lower standard of living, while those who are directly affected are not even considering japa as an option.
People tend to use exchange rate to measure wealth, but you are wrong. Exchange rate is not and indices to measure standard of living. You measure standard of living using what is called PPP(Purchasing price/power parity). That is what is used to determine standard of living not exchange rate. There are people in Nigeria here who have never touched dollar or pounds in their life ,but have higher standard of living that so many of their counter parts abroad.
Quit this your japa mentality and build yourself here, there is honey and gold in Nigeria here. You can't convince someone like me to japa,I will rather go there to invest and return home just to spread my business nothing more.
I stand with Agbaje. |

blessings2017: Please my people, help me attempt the above questions. I need to make an informed decision and pay for my flight ticket as soon as possible.
Thanks I was once in your shoes sir but when I got to the POE I discovered my mountains was nothing but sand in the words of Adekunle Gold. 1. Does an officer at POE have access to one's itinerary to know if i intend going back? Answer: The officer doesnt have any business with your intinery. 2. what if in the event that I'm asked if I'm going back to Nigeria, how do i tactically maneuver ? Answer: Nobody is going to ask you if you're staying or not..Incase you are asked simply say, you're here to stay..Please don't say what you're asked. 3. Will the officer refuse to process my PR card seeing that i plan to do short-landing? Answer: Pls,get your act together and embark on your journey.Your card will be processed, provided you're within the ambit of the law. 4. Can I go ahead in paying for return flight ticket, or should I purchase one-way flight ticket? Prices are relatively cheap at the moment, but gradually increasing. Paying a one-way ticket isn't quite economical. Answer: The officer wont ask about your ticket details. You're already a PR and there's no restrictions on your travels. Even if you travel without your PR card, you can always apply for Temporary Travel Permit from the nearest Canadian Embassy..Manage and book your flight ontime before the prices go to the sky. Summarily, be bold as you go and never entertain any fear.Be careful with your spoken words so you don't say what you're not asked. Canada is a free Country where you'll enjoy real freedom with a welcoming smile on everyone's face. ...Welcome to Canada... |

NwaAmaikpe:

This Commissioner for the Environment, Dr. Babatunde Adejare thinks he is smarter than the other commissioners before him who overlooked these houses.
Being overzealous doesn't pay in this country. Dora Akunyili learnt that the hard way.
I'd advise he thinks about his life and family first before he thinks of the Lagos flood.
After all, Water will always find it's level. The fact that the previous commissioners failed to do their job doesn't mean the incumbent is overzealous. The time has come for us as a people to learn to do what is right as against what has been the tradition.. |

Side Chic? I will advice you to consult all your village oracles,Amadioha and the Babalawos that blind folded you to marry that side chic that the reality has finally come.
Manage and beg that your wandering soul ( like Robinson Crusoe) to look through the eyes of your lovely son and make her mother an inside chic..
What men sometimes forget is the fact that we are not in anyway better than those women we treat anyhow..
Bros,my candid advice for you is to borrow candle, lantern, generator or possibly street light..Look for that love or lost you once had for that side chic of yours and wholeheartedly give it to this beautiful mother of your lovely son whom like you said eargerly awaits your home coming on a daily basis.
If you think that your new Anima,Ronke abi na Amaka will make life better for Bros...Na big lie.
Happiness is closer than you think.Just open your eyes and reach out for it in that mother of your lovely son.. |

Business › Re: Forex: CBN Throws Naira Into Open Market, Nullifies N197/$ Exchange Rate by fem88(m): 5:10pm On May 25, 2016 |
Barcholder: As requested by many on this thread, I'll provide a very simple explanation of the new FX regime we have entered into.
1. The Naira will no longer be "Fixed" against the Dollar, but will now be determined by the forces of supply and demand.
Please note that even in a fixed FX regime, the rate is still determined by supply and demand. CBN spends our valuable FX to buy Naira in order to help stabilise the rate at their chosen rate. When the true underlying weakness of the currency becomes too great, the CBN simply can no longer supporting the currency or they will run out of money.
That's where we are now, and have no choice but to abandon the fixed rate policy. Even Saudi Arabia, with reserves of almost $1 trillion, is under pressure to abandon their fixed rate policy before it bankrupts them, never mind Nigeria with barely $25
2. Contrary to popular belief the scarcity of FX has been caused by an unprecedented flight of capital out of the country since May last year, as investors were spooked by the 6 months delay in naming the ministers. Markets hate uncertainty, and that's exactly what we had.
3. The foreign investors will only reenter the market if they see value in the currency. Nobody is going to buy Naira at 197 when they believe the true value to be 300. Question, if you had $1 million in cash, would you agree to change it at 200?
The only way to solve the liquidity crisis that was created by this very same regime through very stupid policies (such as the imposition of Capital Controls), is to allow liquidity back into the country by allowing the currency to float.
4. The net effect of this should be that foreign money returns to Nigeria to help build the economy into growth. However, our ridiculous and almost absolute dependence on foreign exports means that we are likely to see a further spike in inflation in the short term, as the official Naira rate will likely be 300 to $1.
This provides a tremendous opportunity for local production to take off in a big way, creating millions of jobs in the process. The weak currency is effectively a 50% tax against importation, meaning that we can now manufacture cheaper than imports.
If we are smart, we will seize this opportunity.
Regards
Uvie ...Thanks for your explanation.I was actually confused with the whole grammar by the CBN and some Nairalander didn't help but to confuse me the more... |
