Family › Re: Men Who Married For Money, Not Love-how Did It Go? by femi4: 1:56pm On Sep 19 |
Solofresh2: Good day, Nairalanders.
Let's talk about something men rarely admit. Men who married a woman for her money, not for love. Not gold diggers. Not gigolos. Just men who looked at their options and chose financial security over emotional connection.Maybe she had a rich father. Maybe she was the breadwinner. Maybe she owned property, had a business, or came from a family that could change your life. You said "I do" but deep down, you knew it wasn't love. It was strategy. Now my questions are, Did it work out? Are you comfortable, or are you miserable? Does she know you married her for money? Did love ever grow, or did you just learn to tolerate her? What did you sacrifice—respect, peace, freedom, dignity? Would you do it again if you could go back?
And for the women reading this. Would you marry a man who married you for your money if he treats you well? Or is love non-negotiable?
This is a safe space. No insults. Just truth.
Let's hear it. Its rare..cos ladies married up while men married down |
Politics › Re: ₦18,000 Minimum Wage Bought More Than ₦70,000 Does Today - Makinde by femi4: 1:55pm On Sep 19 |
oluwagbogodada: ‘Voodoo economy’ — Makinde says old N18,000 minimum wage could buy more than current N70,000
Makinde spoke on Friday while addressing civil servants at the government house in Agodi, Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, after returning from his annual leave.
The governor said the old N18,000 minimum wage during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan could buy more than the current N70,000.
A month before Makinde was sworn in for his first term as governor of Oyo, the late former President Muhammadu Buhari increased the minimum wage for civil servants from N18,000 to N30,000 per month in April 2019.
Nearly five years later, President Tinubu raised the minimum wage to N70,000 in July 2024 as part of efforts to cushion the impact of the removal of the petrol subsidy.
In August, Taiwo Oyedele, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, said the economic reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy, had mobilised N15.8 trillion in resources for the federation between June 2023 and December 2025.
Makinde, however, said the increase in minimum wage had not effectively tackled the economic hardship caused by the removal of the petrol subsidy.
“It’s been a very challenging period, economically. Yes, FAAC has gone up. But when I came in as governor, the first salary bill I signed was N4.5 billion,” he said.
“Today, the salary bill is N18 billion. The minimum wage as of the time I came was N18,000. Today, it is N80,000. But the N18,000 of that time can even buy more than what the current N70,000 can do today.
“That is the kind of voodoo economy that they have handed over to Nigeria.
“So, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), we have to sit down. Our people are challenged. That is the reality. The resources are limited.”
In view of the economic situation, the governor said his administration would extend its current wage award to workers across the state for another three months, while transport subsidies would also continue.
‘WHY IS HE SCARED OF HANDING OVER TO THE VICE PRESIDENT’
The governor also criticised Tinubu over what he described as the president’s failure to formally transfer power to Vice-President Kashim Shettima while away from the country.
Makinde compared the situation with his own recent annual vacation, during which he said he handed over to Bayo Lawal, his deputy.
“I went on vacation, but I handed over to my deputy governor. I am running to be the president of Nigeria because I have the capacity,” Makinde said.
“They’re trampling on the constitution of Nigeria. If the president is out of the country, why is he scared of handing over power to the vice-president?
“I went away for one month, but my team was able to carry the responsibility of running the state. So, tell him (Tinubu) to follow the constitution of Nigeria.
“He swore at the Eagle Square to abide by the constitution. If the president is not around, hand over the government to the vice-president. That is the constitution.”

Kalulu44: Good morning football loving gentlemen and ladies. Since over 3 seasons now, I have been observing the steady rise and stubbornness of Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth. If you're fanning one of the big clubs in Man City, Man United, Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea. And your team is about to play any of them. Be very careful, cus any lapses this B teams will hurt you badly. Over the years will all saw how Brighton and Bournemouth has married my Man United. Bournemouth took the scalp of Arsenal and City last season. Liverpool and Chelsea have also tasted their wrath too once in awhile. . Man City sweated before they could beat Bournemouth at home in the opening weekend of this season. Some days ago, Brighton again took the scalp of my Man United again and sent us parking in the carabao cup just as the sent us parking in the FA cup last season, even though we beat them home and away in the league. Just ystday, Brentford did Chelsea strong thing. Even before the match started, I strongly predicted Brentford win or draw. The 3nil was even more shocking to me. . Today, Arsenal against Brighton should watch it. Yes Arsenal is flying high at the moment, but any lapse in concentration Brighton will hurt them badly. That team are scoring for for fun and even Arsenal's strong defensive unit may not hold them. I still see Arsenal winning but will be hard fought. The last of the Bs Bournemouth is playing Liverpool tmrw. Honestly I don't see Liverpool coming out of the game with full 3pts. Wow! I just rmbr, all the 3 Bs are at home this weekend which is where they're very dangerous to play against. One of the Bs has done it's own ystday. I see another upset from one out of the 2 matches remaining from them. . I just want every big club fans to know that, underrate the 3 Bs at your own peril. The 3 Bs has come to stay and long may their upset against the big teams continue so we'll continue trolling ourselves.
What say you guys? Arsenal know how to deal with them...if you can deal with them, the league is yours. Its going to be a roller coaster for Arsenal |

AnonPoet: Your Excellency, @DapoAbiodunCON the voices in this video deserve to be heard.
These are not just faces holding placards; they are Ogun residents expressing their grievances and asking their government to listen.
Leadership is most meaningful when the cries of ordinary citizens receive attention, engagement and, where justified, action.
I respectfully call on @DapoAbiodunCON and the relevant authorities to urgently engage these people, investigate their concerns and ensure that no legitimate grievance is ignored.
The people are crying out. Government must listen.
