Leader of anti-EU UKIP Party quits after election failure :


The leader of the anti-EU United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) Paul Nuttall said on Friday he would resign after the party failed to win any lawmakers in the British parliament and saw its vote share fall dramatically.

UKIP, which under its most prominent former leader Nigel Farage helped secure Britain's exit from the European Union, was seen as increasingly irrelevant during the campaign, with many of its voters deserting the party.

"I am standing down today as the leader of UKIP with immediate effect. This will allow the party to have a new leader in place by the conference in September," Nuttall said.

Farage earlier hinted he might return to front-line politics.

An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Thursday dissolved the two-year-old marriage between Andrew Epu and his wife, Tina, over wife’s constant checking of husband’s phone.
Delivering judgment, the President of the court, Mr. Adegboyega Omilola, said that the petitioner was adamant despite mediation from the court and family intervention.
Omilola said, “since the petitioner insisted on divorce after several interventions, the court has no choice than to dissolve the union in spite of the fact that the wife still claims she loves her husband.”
He then pronounced the marriage dissolved, saying they have ceased to be husband and wife “and both are free to go your separate ways without any hindrances and molestation.”
Epu, 35, engineer, had approached the court to dissolve his two years marriage over wife’s constant checking of his phone.
He said “my wife is always checking my phone to know who I called or who called me.
“If the person happened to be a woman, she will be accusing me of dating the person.
I am tired of her behaviour, as I can no longer speak to ladies anymore except men.”
The petitioner, who also accused his wife of threatening to kill him, said “my wife once sent hired killers after me but I escaped and also on Oct. 26, her brother and his gang attacked me and beat the hell out of me. I am tired and cannot bear it any longer.”
He also said that the wife had denied him sex for months and had packed out of his house since Sept. 26.
He added that “Tina packed out of my house with my car, fridge, generator, gas cooker and other household items.
“She later called me to inform me that she had packed out of my house that she was no longer interested in the marriage.”
The estranged husband pleaded with the court to dissolve the marriage which he said did not produce any child and that he was no longer in love with her.
The respondent, Tina, 32, businesswoman, who denied all allegations, said she was not ready to divorce her husband because she still loves him.
The respondent, who also accused her husband of infidelity, said “my husband is having affair with his staff and students and that is why he hates me touching his phone.
“Whenever I questioned him about what I saw on his phone, a fight will follow.”
According to her, she never denied her husband sex nor threatened his life with hired killers.
She said that she did not pack her husband’s property that she only went away with her own property.

Federal Debt in FY 2016 Jumped $1,422,827,047,452.46--That's $12,036 Per Household

(CNSNews.com) - In fiscal 2016, which ended on Friday, the federal debt increased $1,422,827,047,452.46, according to data released today by the U.S. Treasury.

At the close of business on Sept. 30, 2015, the last day of fiscal 2015, the federal debt was $18,150,617,666,484.33, according to the Treasury. By the close of business on Sept. 30, 2016, the last day of fiscal 2016, it had climbed to $19,573,444,713,936.79.

According to the Census Bureau’s latest estimate, there were 118,215,000 households in the United States as of June. That means that the one-year increase in the federal debt of $1,422,827,047,452.46 in fiscal 2016 equaled about $12,036 per household.

The total federal debt of $19,573,444,713,936.79 now equals about $165,575 per household.



The increase in the federal debt in fiscal 2016 was larger than it might have been had Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew not declared what the government calls a “debt issuance suspension period” on March 16, 2015 and kept it going until Nov. 2, 2015--when President Barack Obama signed the “Bipartisan Budget Act,” a spending deal he had cut with the Republican leaders in Congress.

During the “debt issuance suspension period,” the Treasury used what it calls “extraordinary measures” to freeze that portion of the federal debt then subject to a legal limit set by Congress at a level just below that legal limit.

These “extraordinary measures” largely amounted to changing the way the government accounted for government employee retirement funds, including the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund, the Postal Service Retiree Health Benefits Fund, and the Government Securities Investment Fund of the Federal Employees’ Thrift Savings Plan.

While using its “extraordinary measures,” the Treasury said that the portion of the “debt subject to the limit” was frozen at $18,112,975,000,000 for 233 straight days.

The day Obama signed the budget deal, the total federal debt jumped from $18,152,981,685,747.52 to $18,492,091,120,833.99—a one-day climb of $339,109,435,086.47.

The budget deal suspended the debt limit until March 15, 2017.
