Regarding the international airport, Stella Oduah's name and works are already inscribed in gold in the Nigerian history.
Enugu international airport is the best thing to happen to south easterners in recent times.
So fly through the airport, its pretty the same safety standard and hygeine condition as that of MM1 and Abuja airport. It will be easier and cheaper for you too.

The international wing has the potential to be the busiest in west Africa if tribal politics doesn't stall it.

That being said, I'm only concerned at the shoddy and substandard work done at the local wing. It is a fraud!
Ok now I understand you, she has to go cus of the substandard work at the AIIA .

IGBO-SON:
NCAA May Close Enugu Airport

20 Sep 2013

By Chinedu Eze

There are indications that the Akanu Ibiam Airport in Enugu may be closed for international operations, as the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has said the airport’s designation as international airport was not gazetted and therefore there was no white paper to give it legal teeth to that effect.

A dependable source told THISDAY that the designation of Ethiopian Airlines to operate from the airport was done by Presidential fiat so it was a temporary situation that could only subsist at the whims of the regulatory body and at the behest of the President that gave the order.

The NCAA source said only four airports in the country were gazetted and these include Port Harcourt, Abuja, Lagos and Kano airports, adding that tourists who always wanted to land directly from overseas destinations to the Margaret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar were always denied the chance because the airport was not gazetted as international airport.

However, the Special Adviser (Media) to the Minister of Aviation, Joe Obi, told THISDAY that saying that the Enugu airport has not been gazetted as international airport is “very, very improbable.”

“It does not sound plausible because the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu is an international airport by all definition and once any airline or charter operator has the required clearance he can fly into the airport,” he said.

THISDAY learnt that last week a chartered flight from Accra, Ghana wanted to airlift investors from the Ghanaian capital directly to Enugu for business meeting and from Enugu to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, but NCAA refused to process the document for the flight’s clearance; rather, the Air Transport Regulation (ATR) of NCAA directed the pilot of the aircraft to fly first to Abuja before taking off to Enugu and from Enugu it flew back to Abuja and henceforth to Malabo, a tortuous journey and waste of fuel.

When contacted the General Manager, Public Affairs of NCAA, Fan Ndubuoke, was ambivalent, unable to authenticate or deny the position of the official from ATR, but said the person or organisation that wanted to process the flight from Ghana might not be the right organisation to do that.

He warned that charter operators and others should be wary about the companies they contact to process flights for them.

Also the General Manager, Corporate Communication, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Yakubu Dati, said he would investigate the matter, and noted that not only that Ethiopian Airlines is operating from the airport but other airlines have indicated interest to also operate from Enugu.

******* ******* *******

At bolded: Looks like we can kiss that potential investment goodbye just b'cos someone somewhere didn't do their job well; or maybe the potential investors phoned NCAA for clearance or whatever it is they need to land at AIIA, and some bitter knobhead barked down the phone at them, saying: 'Enugu has no fuc/king international airport......pick Abuja or Lagos instead!', and then slammed the phone down on them. with rude finality!

They had better gazette whatever b/4 GEJ and Stella Oduah leave office!

OPC.NAIRALAND:
I dont care if Fashola only locked up the house for 10mins, how did it get in the news?

This was a big humiliation on Kalu who boasted that Igbos control Lagos. Fashola had to awaken him to the reality of his status in Lagos. A house owner has overall control of his house but the land owner can do to that house what he wants and as the land owner Fashola just proved that point, effortlessly. In proving it he leaked it to press to make the statement "who controls Lagos now"!

Ibos said they own Lagos, Fashola locked them out of Ladipo. They packed Igwes to come beg Fashola.

Afterwards they made noise they control Lagos market and without them Lagos is nothing, he installed Babaloja on Ladipo to see who controls market.

They refused to accept Babaloja, he reunited a few with families in Onitsha. Ladipo got the message and quickly accepted Babaloja.

Ibo leaders issued all kind of ultimatums with no follow up and said they control Lagos, Fashola locked up the property of the loudest mouth amongst them and gave it news coverage. Let's wait and see which loudmouth will talk next. Fashola got your medicine!
Let not talk like a child , what fashola is doing presently in wrong let not support this action becouse is undemocratic simple

Fashola orders sealed Kalu’s house reopened
on August 13, 2013 at 9:41 pm in News
FORMER Governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, and Lagos State government, Tuesday, disagreed over the reason for the sealing of Kalu’s property in Park View Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Meantime, Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola has ordered that the house be reopened.
While Kalu’s aide linked the shealing of the house to the criticism of Fashola by Kalu over the deportation of 72 residents of Lagos, who are of South East origin, the Special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Fashola on Media, Hakeem Bello, said he believed the action has nothing to do with the alleged deportation of Igbos from Lagos.
According to him; “Fashola’s administration has no time for trivial matters.”
Emeka Obasi reacts
Reacting to the sealing of the Park View house of Kalu, his Special Adviser, Media, Emeka Obasi, said it was done as a revenge for the criticism of Kalu, who is the Coordinator of Njiko Igbo, a group fighting the cause of the South East.

Orji Kalu’s property in Park View Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos
Obasi said the property had been there for several years and that sealing it after just two weeks of his boss criticsing Fashola over the deportation issue was an indication that there was more to it.
Obasi said Kalu was not the only Igbo to have suffered such fate in Lagos State “after the wicked and ungodly act of deporting legitimate residents of Lagos State.”
He added, “Why is it that it is now that the property is being sealed, barely two weeks after my boss disagreed with the action of Fashola? We maintain our stand and this will not distract us from fighting for the people.
“The action of the Lagos State Government remains unconstitutional because every citizen of Nigeria has a right to live in any part of the country. Fashola should remember that the Igbo community constitutes about 35 per cent of registered voters in Lagos State and they should be treated like they matter in the scheme of things.”
Hakeem Bello comments
The Special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Fashola on Media, Hakeem Bello, when contacted, said he could not give any details on the development as he had not been briefed on the matter.
He, however, said that if the owner of the building had committed an infraction against any of the state laws, he or she should be ready to be sanctioned when the long arms of the law finally caught up with the him or her.
“ I don’t think it has anything to do with the alleged deportation of Igbos from Lagos. Fashola’s administration has no time for trivial matters,” he said.

He actually tried for Anambrarians but their is no vaccum in PDP now for the next election. PDP will be happy to accept him but not for this soon coming election. Am sorry to say that Fashola's action has marred that guy's political ambition for 2014. He should stand for the masses or keep quiet about the matter. He told blantant lies to cover up for APC . Example- He said Lagos State govt and Anambra had an agreement about the handover but when the Lagos State govt came to Onitsha, they didn't see Anambra Govt (1) there is no way state govts will agree on that for 3am and at under the bridge. That was a stupid statement (2)He said those guys were reformed by Fashola govt_ another lie. How can Fashola reform people, dump them at under the bridge without any T fare to the states, towns and villages? Did Lag state govt not know that those guys will need to be eating before finding their foot. You call a spade a spade.
Well I'm one of those who still believe what those official did was wrong, and bet me my fashola is not aware of this mess. Is wrong and I will keep saying it till the matter is locked down. Is inhumanity to human is wrong, and what is taking my governor time to simply apologize to this wicked act is what I can't say for now.

But we should not allow this jeopardize the freedom and peace the ibos and we Yorubas has built for so many decade now, becouse from what I see is politics politics politics.
Jos should have tought us a big lesson
