LordAdam16: Seriously, when people say intellectuals are on Twitter, I'm like have these people been to Quora.
Take the answer to the question "Is Pele Overrated" attached as an example.
https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/923/TG1a9w.png
Can anyone offer that kind of insight with all the information on all of Twitter? Yea, I know the commenter is not a Nigerian, but that's the kind of standard Quorans irrespective of nationality live up to.
Twitter users are great at clap-backs, they are witty, and are doers. Versus the other four options on there, of course one would say more intelligent people are on there. But the ratio of intelligent people hanging out at Quora is miles ahead of any platform. Quorans make Twitter users sound like high school kids.
About discussing Nigerian politics on Twitter, well I don't think that's feasible. Our politics is trash, and I mean no disrespect. Our political parties have no ideologies, so there's very little substance to talk about. I mean you could be talking about FFK in PDP today, but there's no guarantee he wouldn't switch to APC or another party tomorrow. And when he does switch, expect all his arguments prior to his switch to turn on its head.
Compared to politics in most other democracies, that's a disgrace. I'd cut us some slack because our democracy is young, but fact is fact.
-Lord Twitter with its brevity? Nah!!! Lol! Just "Is Pele an overrated person?" na im bring the long answer so? I love Quora. I think NL is supposed to be similar to Reddit. |
Politics › Re: See How Nairaland Is Performing In Poll Conducted By DG BPSR by Feraz(m): 8:36pm On May 22, 2017 |
LordAdam16: The poll is factual.
But that is not the shocker.
The shocker is that Seun let the standard fall knowingly.
Reason: MONEY.
For example, Twitter "supposedly" has more intellectuals in Nigeria than Facebook. Guess which one has higher revenue?
That's the point.
Most Nigerians are not intellectuals. Seun knows this and that's why he drifted NL from an intellectual hub to a gossip hub. Trust me this model is more successful than the previous model. And it's why it'd be easier to drain River Niger with a straw than convince Seun to cut out all the fluff.
Na im ATM b dat. The afonja vs Igbo, pre-wedding photos, check out what Tonto wore threads and discussions are the money spinners.
As for those asking him to abandon the Anonymous template. It'd be nice from a user POV, but I'm doubtful of whether it'll be a commercial success for Seun. I mean, if he abandons this Anonymous template, the Vanguard forum, Punch, LIB, and Sahararepoters would move up the hierarchy. While him discarding that template would pit him directly against Facebook and Twitter in 9ja, a battle we all know he wouldn't win.
Moreover, even if he does dethrone them, what we'll have is a Quora which is terrific for nerds and intellectuals but not the place to be for the majority of people.
Personally, I don't like Twitter. I'm not a big fan of brevity. I sure as hell can't use 140 characters to argue my position on the benefits of privatization in Nigeria. Using multiple tweets is a huge hassle and appears cluttered. Facebook would have been better, but it's basically a medium to keep up with what is happening in the lives of your friends and family than talking about whether Nigeria needs to construct underground sewers in cities. And then there is the issue of fake news and spam.
-Lord Trust me, I spend most time now on Quora. I'm only pained that much Nigerian politics ain't discussed there. I wouldn't lie that I miss the NL of old. I really learnt a lot especially when every end of the month, there's always a debate till mods started being affiliated with certain political parties and the tribalism became much. |

I watched the Dora's live ministerial screening as GEJ's minister she almost swore that she went to raise several prayer points at a catholic church for Yar'Adua's quick recovery when she was confronted by the abokkis for betraying her boss.
flatiyeassterners who couldn't stop begging PMB for forgiveness as soon as he won the election in 2015 - thronging his residence day in day out - are the most unstable, two-faced and hypocritical scums I have ever known in my life.
Even today, they are looking for every flimsy excuse and opportunity to defect to APC. Theodore Orji had to be rejected outright. Ikpeazu is already scheming. So praying for someone to recover while asking the person to resign is a crime? Is this not a similar case with Buhari? You are a hypocrite if you condemn Dora for doing the above and praise those who do something similar now. I wonder how many Igbos you see celebrating the defection of the politicians. Theodore Orji that is always stoned whenever he visits Abia or is it Mbadinuju, the worst SErn state governor in the 4th republic that we should be sad that defected to APC? You delude yourself. Ephi123, you see the bolded we talked about sometime back. This is how people go twisting things about. LordAdam16: Dora Akinyuli did something that your Lai Mohammed and Adesina didn't have the guts to do in the face of overwhelming adversity.
She said her principal was incapacitated. Adesina and Mohammed didn't even have the guts to tell us that Buhari was taking medical trips despite it being public knowledge.
And it was because of her statement that made the South unite to stand behind GEJ.
That was the first time since 1999 that the South had faced that kind of adversity and clearly it didn't happen smoothly because it was the first time it happened in Nigeria. Buhari handing over power to Osinbajo is to offset the kind of instability that happened when Yar'Adua didn't. It is called progress. For example, in the past US Presidents were assassinated. Today that is almost impossible. It is called progress.
When we support a person, we support that person to hell and back. We had Obasanjo's back from 1999 to 2007 and it was a SEner that saved the country from crisis when OBJ didn't want to let go. You don't see the SE jumping up and down that we supported the SW presidency and did the whole country a favor.
Even Buhari asked NASS to impeach Yar'Adua!
So what are you yapping about. Thank you for this sound response especially the bolded. We all know the role Nnamani played. LordAdam16: You are talking complete balderdash. So it was Bakare that made Dora speak out in that your empty skull.

On paper they are correct but this is Nigeria and things should be spelt out clear and without any room for reasonable or unreasonable doubt. I remember when a senator raised this issue of illegality - coordinator - in the letter given to the senate; he was called all sorts of names and it was said he was trying to undermine the VP and people were quoting section 145 of the constitution. Alas, we are beginning to see issues pertaining to it rear its head and realizing that certain people do not wish to follow the constitution we quoted. Splashme: Osinbajo must sign that budget.

His queer mathematical formula tells us how he intended to handle “inclusive governance.”
These aren't statements a unifying force should be making. Nigerians desire a president that is a unifier, a healer of the national breach.
Buhari is a man of many faults as far as saying the wrong things.
A look at the people who form the core of his government is enough proof of the divisive figure that he is. They are mainly his kinsmen and women as well as people of his ethnic or cultural stock.
His appointments saw Buhari making good his promise of sidelining the 5 Percenter's.
If that isn't setting the stage for division, then I wonder what is. Thank you! I wonder why people forget the president's earlier divisive speech and his numerous actions but when people take it up, it becomes they're still suffering from election loss. |
