I got invitation for next week. Is o level certificate compulsory, because I have only the online print out, all I have now is my degree certificate, birth certificate (from hospital), nysc certificate, o level online print out,and national id card temporary slip. what do you advise I do?
O level is compulsory. As you can see, I didn't write because I did not come with it. I'll only say you should get a colored print out and pray it is accepted. Just get all your educational documents. I felt WAEC wasn't important because my degree cert. has covered it all. I was wrong.

When I was applying, I indicated that I haven't completed NYSC yet,pls I'll love to know if going there without my NYSC cert will hinder me!

Nah!!! It won't. There was a girl before me who was still serving so I do not think it will hinder you. Just go with all you have (educational very) and maybe an evidence that you're serving, try your luck.

I wish you both the best.

Please i need it too Opceedaisy@gmail.com thanks in anticipation
Good luck to those of you yet to write.

My experience:

1. Please, if you do not have your birth certificate, get one or swear an affidavit because without it, you are likely not to write even if you present photocopies.

2. Come with every of your educational credentials; not leaving out one.

3. If there are discrepancies in your birth cert. and WAEC cert., just look for how you will rectify it because someone was refused entry for that also

So I was scheduled to write one today but couldn't write it due to the above factors (1 and 2) so I missed out on the interview. Later got all as I called my folks and they brought the ones I missed out. Still wasn't allowed to write.

They use little things to disqualify everyone in every possible way so please, do not join me in writing the above.

Those who wrote said it was tough (as I was able to meet some of them since I waited till almost closing time) so please, come prepared

My center was at Kofo Abayomi.

What a baseless generalisation! Stop thinking about Igbo people and focus on your own people- or do they not have any problems? Are the Igbos now more important than your own people? huh

I cannot understand how someone can ignore his own people's problems and instead go on to focus on other people as if those people can't speak for themselves.
You know the annoying thing about this whole thing, they always bring up the stale talk about how Anambra people treat Ebonyi people or how this SErn state hate another....they forget that Igbos, irrespective of where you come from in SE, criticize their governors harshly... We saw it with Anambra and Mbadinuju, Abia and T.A. Orji, Ebonyi and Martins Elechi and now, Imo and 'Rochas' so what's with the rubbish comparison among them? How many times have they heard of Nnewi clashing with Amichi or Nsukka clashing with its neighbors? Yet, they spill drivel....

Platteon, come and hold your guy.... angry

All of a sudden, everyone has an opinion about Igbos. Tunji, what is with this your obsession about Igbos? How many times have you written articles about the killings going on in Benue/SK or the recent clashes in Ife? Have you asked yourself why Yar'Adua wasn't this 'hated' even when the current president is from the same state with him and practice the same religion?

Amarabae:
TRASH
you people have been circulating this lies for long, Can you give me one example to show that Anambra don't like Abia?
Ile-ife and Modakeke people fought and killed each other for years but alas other tribe don't love themselves only you people.
And you talk about hate, yet a south western doctor ordered for the massacre of Igbos in 2015, or have you forgotten the hate speech of your oba of lagos etc is that not hate.
I hate hypocrisy, take your junk writeup and eat it. Stop these silly obsession about Igbos. Thanks
As in, the whole thing is tiring. These are the same people that will taunt the Igbos with the pictures of the starving children during the war and threaten them with more genocide should they decide to secede. They've forgotten the kind of utterances which came from their Obas pre-election. Yet, the oaf talks about hate?

obailala:
Nice one!... Would have been nicer if this was a coal plant though; gas wahala in this country isn't encouraging at all and those idle coal mines need to be revived for people to feed.

Meanwhile if only the DISCOs can just do their freaking job properly, there would be a mad scramble by investors to build power plants across the federation. Power supply is a very lucrative business worldwide but conditions in Nigeria make it unattractive so everyone typically waits for the first person to bell the cat before others follow with a mad rush.

Kudos to Prof Nnaji for pioneering this, some useless litigations have delayed the take-off of Geometric Power but fortunately, I hear the legal issues have all been sorted out now and the plant would start operations next month. I'm sure when Nnaji begins to reap the billions, other investors would begin to lose sleep.
Still remains one of my favourite ministers. . .

In my country, no be 1km = N1B or so? undecided

Explorers:
Hyderabad Metro Rail, India.

Time to build: 14 years.

Cost to build: $2 billion.

It will take all of the $2 billion-plus to create a new, elevated Hyderabad Metro Rail system in India.

With initial phases nearing opening, the 46-mile light rail system will modernize an entire region.

Elevated stations appears every kilometer and are expected to handle 15 million riders, with trains arriving at stations every three to five minutes.

With trains running at an average of over 20 miles per hour, all technology track, stations and support will run above ground.
Someone remind me how much Rivers monorail project is. . .

Also add the planned new Egypt capital city and the new rail transportation Chūō Shinkansen Japan is planning that costs about $82B (9 trillion yen) or so and is planning to complete the first phase between Tokyo and Nagoya by 2027.

Explorers:
Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia.

Time to build: 10 years.

Cost to build: $11billion.

The ongoing expansion of a city built from the sand up starting in the 1970s required plenty of logistical planning.

Jubail is a city in the Eastern province on the Persian Gulf coast of Saudi Arabia.

It is the host of the largest industrial city in the Middle East.

It is also home to the Middle East's largest and world's fourth largest petrochemical company.

It has the world's largest IWPP (Independent Water and Power Project) producing 2743.6 MW of electricity and 800,000 m3 of water daily.

Jubail Industrial City is the largest civil engineering project in the world today.

The project, located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, is undergoing an $11 billion expansion to update all things industrial.

The four-phase project over nearly eight square miles includes eight blocks of industrial plants, four blocks of petrochemical industry, three blocks of support industries and four blocks of aluminum and other smelting plants.

And that doesn't even include removing hills, building tunnels, expanding fiberoptics, building highways and using seawater for daily cooling.
this is what I call proper use of oyel money. . . Plan for the future because new and better sources of energy will always come up so the one you boast of having may soon be phased out. . . We need a planning and maintenance culture and visionary leaders.

Gbam!

God bless you.

We all remember all the threats from the north which gave them the presidency they have today.

These people are truly shamless.

Nzeogwu from Delta masterminded a coup, it was called Igbo coup.

When it is time for problem they describe the Niger Deltans as Igbos but when it is about oil they quickly remind you that Niger Delta is not Igbo.
Honestly, it's tiring.

Look at the case of the man from Delta state who named his dog Buhari, was called Igbo because his name was despite people's account of repeated denial of the Igbo tag by the man; but say Igbos are in the SS and watch hell unleashed.

Mr Anthony just re-echoed what we've been telling these guys here all along.

You don't bully your way into the presidency, you negotiate and persuade! That is the meaning of politics and democracy!
You're not being truthful here. I hope you re-echoed this same sentiments to those up north?

Why is it that when some groups up north threaten Nigeria, we all look away and brush then aside but when another group from the east does the same, we accuse them of politics of hate, violent blackmail and bitterness?

Well, when it suits the agenda, Igbos becomes the scapegoats for all sorts in Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Put Your House In Order, Sani Lambasts Igbo Leaders by Feraz(m): 10:57am On Mar 10, 2017
We all would like the Igbo to produce the (next) president of Nigeria but not through violent blackmail
Interesting!! The man should clap for himself. So the whole heated up statements made by the current president and Junaid Mohammed of "dogs and baboons being soaked in blood" and "making Nigeria ungovernable" aren't 'violent blackmail'? I never knew violent blackmail had different meaning for different ethnic groups.

The Igbo held sway in the past regime for five years.
So it's no more Niger Delta that ruled or held sway or whatever he wants to use to cover his intentions but Igbos yet when the Igbos clamour for Biafra including their kins from ND, they'll call it land grabbing and accuse them of trying to steal oil. How convenient!!! Accuse them of ruling Nigeria for five years and still accuse them of land grabbing.

If majority of the Igbo believe in a country of their own, they would not settle and invest in other people’s land more than in their own land.
I thought it was One Nigeria that we were practising? I thought with lumping people of diverse backgrounds and cultures together, we were trying to become a nation? Did the Igbos not go to their lands but were forced to live in Nigeria after a three years civil war and brutal massacre?

Be that as it may, presidents coming from certain regions haven't really helped that region. I mean, previous administrations have attested to this. The Igbos only want a country where meritocracy is known over mediocrity, where life is sacred and not just cheap, where hard work is rewarded, where religion is not the ultimate.

Mathschic, this is a very nice article. The main problem with most people is that they do not understand the algorithm of a search engine like " google". Many people are always so fast to utter the word " ask google" , "let us confirm from google" etc without knowing that all what google does is basically to take the user to any link or wherever such queries or anything similar to it appears online. Google and other search engines have been seen as a demi god that have answers to all questions whereas, this is not the case. Aside the surface scratching of merely looking up stuffs, users need to verify or make further checks on the links provided by google to ascertain if such can be trusted. If I ask a question concerning a world cup event for example, a link like the fifa's website from google can be trusted because FIFA is the organiser of the competition every four years. Imagine seeing a link from something like " Lola Ademola's blog" or one of those numerous funny blog names for the same query. Common sense should tell one not to take such serious. That is just a slight verification process. Every information one sees online should be subjected to scrutiny

Moreover, the blogosphere needs to be cleansed from what my sister terms " vanity blogging". Every one just want to blog and the annoying thing is that 80% of these so called blogs only do copy and paste and they are usually the carrier of fake and unverified information.

The same stupidity is usually brought here on this platform when some people will ask you to type " Buhari is ..............." or " Jonathan is a ........" on google and then those funny suggestions start coming up. As funny as these sound, some people still end up believing those. Do not be surprised if you hear them say " google said Jonathan is a failure", "google said Buhari is a dullard" etc.

Key points of the write up;
1. Google and other search engines are not some demi gods or oracle that knows everything. They only provide links to things that appear online.
2. The blogosphere is filled with vanity blogging.
3. Every information seen online should be verified for authenticity.
Thumbs up Mathschic!
Nice points up there.

Angela Merkel once complained about something like this where she talked about Google and other search engines, asking them to divulge their algorithm so that people's perception won't be distorted. I can't remember where I read someone's comment but the person mentioned if using a search engine, make sure you search towards the subsequent pages to get a near accurate information as the first three pages may be filled with links to people's opinions of which we know their bias is contained there in.

everyone gets a share of the blame. the readers and the writers.

A great story is one that is character driven. unfortunately, this can hardly be said for most stories on NL, the writers often just go on about how "advanced" and "gadgety" their world is. too much time is spent on describing the world. and it's often in chunks.
guys, if you're writing for a Nigerian audience, your characters and their interactions take precedence over your world. it has to be as relatable as possible.

and the readers on the other hand have problems. the joy of reading SciFi lies in the world itself. How the writer's imagination crafts a future. but Nigerian readers always focus on characters and the drama. and that's why they don't like SciFi.

obviously, a compromise must be reached. unfortunately, it's the authors that need to bend over. the readers are the customers, and as they say, "customer is boss"
Me thinks the issue stems from writing near accurate facts. You wouldn't want to write one without verifying the laws or principles behind it.
