Oxalic: About the Igbos, they are one of three major ethnic groups in this country and so, should be allowed a shot at the presidency of this country. This can be done with proper consultations among the three major players.
About Arewa Youths, they are been guided by their leaders who think the country is their property.
About the Nation, it is an undisputed fact that certain issues need to be properly addressed. No person or group of persons should try to lord over others. No group should be allowed to go about killing others with impunity.
On a personal note, i hate all forms of injustice. A shot at the presidency does not guarantee that the regions would be better off. OBJ and the SW, GEJ and the SS, Yar'Adua/Buhari and the north; even having had Senate president from the SE for various years haven't helped the Igbos. Igbos could care less where the president comes from and would vote him if they feel he's not a bigot and vindictive (Obj, Yar'Adua, GEJ, Abiola), even rejecting their own (Ojukwu), yet, they are accused of hate. Igbos wanted a country where justice is felt and life appreciated; where I will be safe and not killed because of a cartoon drawn in far away land. But it seems that ship has sailed. BlackMbakara1: Abati should save us this long story joor...when you fail to caution a child or bring up a child properly when he or she is straying, what you see is what you get.
Nnamdi Kanu thought he had monopoly of insulting and inciting without any consequences. His subjects (supposed elders/young ones) were giving him tacit support because they refuse to caution him or sanction him...now see where the eagle has landed.
Very soon he will use canoe and disappear to God knows-where... I just find it funny people forget the past threats of various leaders from the north and latch unto NK as if he said much worse than the current president (dogs and baboons soaked in blood) or Kaita that made the "ungovernable country" statement or the Oba who threatened lagoon. For all those who accuse him (not like he's innocent), people from their ethnic group have said similar or worse things with people from their ethnic group supporting codedly. Arewa and their elders have threatened Nigeria numerous times, no one was arrested ; Nnamdi Kanu said his and was arrested (paid the price if you may). Why are we one sided? Why do we become blind to a certain section of the country and go blazes on another? Or is the saying that "they are the owners of Nigeria" true? koladebrainiac: actually its eastern Nigerians that are perpetually in cold war with north n nigerian with their battle cry calling Nigeria zoo n yoruba boko haram. All insiting statement that you cant call them . if Nigeria had been calling them this they would have cry more than they are crying now.
Actions brings reactions How about past actions of the north, does it not deserve a reaction? What about the subtle taunting of Igbos being second class citizens / not being president in Nigeria or to aptly put, they'll never be president of Nigeria, does it not deserve a reaction also? |

ephi321: This is a new improved wristbangle we're seeing these days, lol
Everyone should seek the path of peace but that path starts with fairness and justice, which seems never to be the case in Nigeria. Enough is enough. So-called elites who don't want progress can't continue to hold an entire nation down. It's one thing to be power-hungry but use it for development, it's another thing entirely when it's used to stagnate and retrogress. LOL! A new improved one! wristbangle: Thank you very much for the insightful comment sir. People have quoted hence lashing insult on me but I like the way you countered my statement with superior argument.
However I understand and get your message clearly but the essence of my statement is that we know how blood lust these northerners are, so we should be careful not to lose our tribe men/women duelling in their region to violence.
I have lost counts on how easterners and westeners throw jibes at each other of which no matter how intense it may be, can never lead to physical violence. Lol! Thank you. I have insulted only three persons here on Nairaland not like I'm innocent. See how the 'Buhari' dog saga started only to find out that the accuser started it. Exactly, we know how bloodthirsty they can be and this is why they always leverage on that because we Southerners (apart from the vices here) value lives and honestly, it's time we here in the South teach them that not only one tribe has the monopoly of violence. You cannot see anyone attack another of different ethnicity because of our approach to hold lives sacred. We tend to cage the beast within but their hordes release theirs and this is due to their elites using religion as tools. |

Emusan: You're saying this because you don't live in the North.
Like I said, if this ultimatum is actually carried out then it will be cleared to the NL Yoruba's or those who sit in SW and never being to Northern part of the country that Igbo and Yoruba in the Northern part are more united than Igbo and Yoruba in SW.
Because if you have ever been to the North, you will discover that both Igbo and Yoruba in the North always live in the same community rather than tenting their beds in the midst of Hausas. Which means Igbo and Yoruba up north see themselves as one who understand each other.
I was just shaking my head when I see some Yorubas rejoicing over the ultimatum but out of ignorance forgotten that Hausa almajeri can't differentiate between an average Igbo or Yoruba person.
Mind you I'm a Yoruba man but I live in the North! Succinctly put. I served in the North and when kasala was about to burst, my friends in the corpers' lodge in Kano were scared and you know what, many Southern tribes were well represented. It took the pleading of the Northerners serving with us to beg. They don't know when it happens, most Southerners (SE, SW, SS) will run to Sabongari and stay. |

wristbangle: To be honest, the northerners goofed on this issue as we all know they can't withstand provoking utterance for other tribes.
I don't know If this story is true or not but did they (arewa youths) consider the consequences before dishing out threats to Ndigbos.
As for IPOB, I remembered few weeks ago when we warned about the consequence of naming a cow "buhari", they said we are defending our master.
Tolerance and accommodating attitude is not cowardice which SE peeps need on rare occasion. Not all the time they will be dishing out provoking utterances. You sir, are not being honest with yourself. I've seen you on numerous threads saying IPOB started it by naming a cow after Buhari. PMB would not be the first to be named after an animal; it happened to GEJ (a goat was named after him), Yar'Adua was called a tortoise, snail, a sluggish creature, OBJ was called an ape and hell was not let loose. Why is PMB's different? I would never subscribe to name calling of the number one person in the country but don't say it was IPOB that started it. Northerners aren't innocent neither are Westerners or Easterners. I remember when a particular guy here on Nairaland - Reference warned against these insults during GEJ's regime but people called him names and trust Nigerians to do things excessively. BTW, how sure are we that ain't propaganda since someone just took the picture of a cow tied somewhere and pixmixed it with Nnamdi Kanu, and then tagged it "IPOB donates a cow named after Buhari!"? |

No one in the three major tribes is innocent of such. We saw it with Radio Kudirat of 1993, we saw it with radio chanji and now, with radio Biafra, heck, even your Oba. Pre and post independence, the same hate speeches from the 'tripod' of Nigeria. If anything at all, they learnt from you, the masters, refined it and gave it back to you a thousand times. Who taunted MASSOB when they were approaching Biafra the peaceful way? Who called them hateful names and took it further by posting gory pictures of starving Biafran kids online to taunt Biafrans telling them worse will be done should they continue? There's a thread here that exposes your hypocrisy but we won't see you there. When PMB made divisive and hate speeches pre and post election, your hypocritical ass defended him and saw nothing wrong in it after all, it is 'democracy'. Have the northerners not called for violence also? Where were you when a policeman threatened to kill over 200 persons should PMB die (despite the rumors of death emanating from your party)? What of El Rufai and his loan repayment threat? Northerners were killed at Ife (in retaliations to one of them killing a person), we did not see you condemn that. Now, it's Igbos and you find your voice you hypocritical scumbag!!! I do not like IPOBs' methods neither am I one but don't claim you are innocent of such. Nnamdi Kanu is not innocent and so are those pointing fingers at him. You all are guilty of the numerous hate speeches. Your hypocritical self accused IPOBs of carrying rumours through Elombah of the VP filling up appointments with people from his ethnic group and heaped all sorts of insults and 'hate' speeches even though Elombah has been existing before PMB became president. Heck, some threads featured on FP have had Elombah as its source and NLers have discussed the content and title. Now, SR told us that it was Abba Kyari, Hadi Seriki and one Tunde were the ones who drafted the letter. Did we see you apologise for carrying rumours here on NL? No! Not like we expect you to. How about when rumours of the cabal not letting the VP perform his constitutional role as the AP using the clause 'Coordinating president', you released venoms on the so called cabal. Does that not also count as 'hate' speech? Once again, I say, shut your mouth with the hypocritical statements coming out of it. You have no honour whatsoever and are a shameless hypocritical person. So if you remember anyone who has written any hate speech here, look in the mirror and see that you embody hate itself. Y'all make me sick together with one above me and Superstar or so. They should bring it on. We may not react but the world is watching and this will make Nigeria divide faster since we cannot talk to the 'owners of Nigeria'. Governor Willie Obiano has continued to give shape and form to the promise of CONTINUITY which he made to Ndi Anambra during his gubernatorial campaign days as following the precedent set by his predecessor, he doled out a total of N1.9 billion, Friday, to Mission Schools in the state for the 2014 Universal Basic Education projects.
The ceremony which took place at the Women Development Center, Awka attracted the leaders of the two dominant churches in the state – the Catholic Church and the Anglican Church who mobilized members of their congregations en-masse to grace the occasion.
Out of the total sum, N433 million was given to the Catholic mission and N300 to the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion while N1.082 billion is in the custody of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board for funding public primary and junior secondary education. Governor Obiano said the fund allocated to each mission was based on the number of schools that government had returned to them. He confirmed that funds released to the Church by his predecessor were judiciously utilized which encouraged his administration to sustain the policy.
The governor further explained that the fund would be used for the provision of infrastructure and furniture in the benefitting schools and restated his government’s commitment to delivering functional education, adding that there were already considerations on how to accommodate Pentecostal schools.
Governor Obiano also disclosed that the state government had started paying twenty percent of basic salary to teachers in the rural areas and three thousand naira to teachers that handle core subjects. He announced that physically challenged persons and junior students of technical schools are now on state government scholarship. He stated that the state government has upgraded infrastructure at the school for physically challenged persons at Isulo; provided internet facility in schools; is building perimeter fencing in boarding schools and training marshals to assist in maintaining security in schools.
The Commissioner for Education, Professor Kate Omenugha said the fund beneficiaries had secured approved work plan and that the utilization would be subject to monitoring and evaluation processes. |
