I dedicate this poem to the UN. Unpleasant sounds, Pains and sorrow, Voices roars in the air, Booming of a gun, Thou shall not kill, Not in their dictionary. The tussle for power, Shattered and scattered roads, Fears in the mind, Humans on the race, Tears drop means nothing, Generations' gone and more still going. Hunger at its peak, Animals go into hiding, Great leaders taken to the Faded land by death. Fathers(soldiers) shoot other children's father, Darkness at its peak, Voices without sound yearning for peace, Peace to weak to stand. The struggles without end fears peace, War on seeing peace sighs. From behind it came like a bomb, bum, Was that? The UN, Their flag bears peace, To promote internal co-operation, Bring nations together, History broken, At last we can shake one another hands. Rehabilitation started, Nations assisting nations, Peace and security at its peak, Promoting human rights, And fostering all-round development, A better world for you and me, And education aids peace, The UNESCO came on board through it, And paved way for education, Reducing the illiterates in the world. Brought Africa to lime light, Gave rise to educated ones, Breaking the barriers in Nigeria education, What seems increasingly difficult was made easy, Nigeria now boasts of educated ones, It made Alvan what it is today, I am a beneficiary, Hmm! How do we appreciate the UN? |

A pastor arrested some of his members today immediate after his message for alleged stolen church keyboard. Right or Wrong? |
A flying rumour, now a news, A sharp heart pain, Tears falls like the dews, Yet no gain. As he went to sleep, No more to wake or weep, Now we gather here, And quietly shed tears, As we lay him in the ground, No solace to be found. Remembering the old times. On my way to school, He gives me tips And back from school, He gives me tea. A quiet man, Whose silence could speak volumes. We are not mourning you,Grandpa, Because ''someone who is about to die, Does not mourn the dead''. Grandma took a bow four years ago, You take a bow now, And my turn awaits me because, Since the day of my birth, My death began its walk, It is walking towards me, Without hurrying. But Grandpa is not truly gone, Because his memory lives on, For all of us who loved him, Never to be forgotten. Enjoy your sleep Grandpa. Your Grandson. |

BlackBerry announced Wednesday it would halt in-
house production of smartphones, marking the end
of an era for the once-dominant Canadian tech
firm. Ontario-based BlackBerry said it had reached a deal to outsource production of its phones to an Indonesian partner, and would instead concentrate on software and services. Handsets with the BlackBerry name will be produced under license by PT Tiphone Mobile Indonesia Tbk, a statement by the firms said. BlackBerry, which a decade ago was among the world’s largest smartphone makers, has seen its global market share slip to less than one percent as Apple and Android devices have dominated. As the market shifted, BlackBerry has sought to refocus on software, including security applications, and the latest announcement takes the company out of the handset market entirely. “We are reaching an inflection point with our strategy. Our financial foundation is strong, and our pivot to software is taking hold,” said chief executive John Chen, pointing to a doubling of software revenue in the last fiscal year. “The company plans to end all internal hardware development and will outsource that function to partners. This allows us to reduce capital requirements and enhance return on invested capital.” The Waterloo, Ontario-based company has made several efforts in recent years to find new customer niches as its smartphone handset sales continued to stagnate in the face of competition. It had hoped its first Android-operating smartphone launched last year would help restore the company to its former glory. But sales were lackluster. Earlier this year, BlackBerry announced it was killing off its Classic smartphone with a physical keyboard — once the workhorse of the smartphone market — as part of a modernization of its lineup. But the company has continued to bleed red, posting on Wednesday a US$372 million loss in its second quarter ending August 31. Revenues also fell to US$334 million, from US$490 million during the same period last year. The company did not report details on its smartphone shipments. Some analysts praised the decision to get out of smartphone sales, at a time when the worldwide smartphone market has turned relatively flat. “The devices business has been a distraction for both BlackBerry and investors for a number of years now,” International Data Corporation analyst John Jackson told AFP. The end is “good news,” he said, noting an uptick in BlackBerry’s stock price in morning trading. Shares rose more than four percent to US$8.22 in New York at 11:00 am local time (1500 GMT). This price, however, remains far below a five-year high set in October 2011 of US$23.97. Originally known as Research in Motion, the company introduced its first internet-connected devices in the early 2000s, and earned a dedicated following of “CrackBerry” addicts. But its luster faded with the introduction of the iPhone in 2007 and the large number of low-costs Android handsets that followed. By moving out of hardware, BlackBerry can focus on its various business services such as messaging, cybersecurity and tracking connected devices. Jackson said the move “should help investors, BlackBerry customers, and the company itself focus squarely on the software and services business which is fiercely competitive in its own right, but also the business that BlackBerry has been in all along.” However analyst Michael Walkley at Canaccord Genuity said the new strategy has risks as well. “We believe the lowered focus on hardware could have an adverse impact on its installed base of loyal BlackBerry hardware customers, potentially switching to new software and security solutions on competing smartphones over time,” he said in a research note. It is disheartening to hear that the FG plans to sell our assets. Assets are not sold but liabilities are. Selling our Assets will return us to the grass root, as many citizens will lose their Jobs, infact their will be a high rate of Retrenchment, simply, starting from the scratch, there by pushing more people into the Labour Market that is over crowded. FG can lease these Assets for a period of Ten years or less/more to individual or Companies that can handle it merged with Terms and Conditions,in fact, it will generate more money for us, through the fees will pay to FG either monthly or annually coupled with their Tax, because selling it will be a big lost to the nation at large. FG can boost our economy by blocking the boarders for goods that we have at home or for goods we can make at home and their are many of them, for instance, if FG wants to develop our Textile Industry, they lay ban on importation of foreign textile materials, and we all will start developing our local industries. Am not saying that FG should block everywhere because of our foreign income will be at stake. FG campaign on ''CHANGE BEGINS WITH YOU' is wrong, is should be put as ''CHANGE BEGINS WITH THE TOP'' those at the top should change because they are not feeling the pains of the masses that's why they do all manner of abominable things at the top and expect the change to start with us. Workers are owned seven months salaries but the legislators can never be owned.(They get their allowance at the top and here seven months is owned) My candid advise to FG is DON'T SELL OUR ASSETS BUT LEASE THEM OUT. Our economy will return back. I humbly submit God Bless Nigeria. Up to you Seun, do the needful . |
We are no longer asking Buhari to develop Nigeria. At this point, we are only asking him to return Nigeria to the state she was before he (Buhari) was sworn into office. Return our dear Naira to 170 per Dollar Return our bag of rice to #7000 Return our bankers to their jobs Return the over 40 multinational companies that relocated out of this country back to Nigeria. Return hundreds of companies and factories that have closed down back to life. Return the millions of Nigeria you made jobless back to their respective jobs. Return our economy to the fastest growing economy in Africa . Return Dangote back to his position as the richest man in Afirca. Return our only indigenous car manufacturing company INNOSON Motors back to production. Forget about adding anything new, just do these and we will ask for no more. Just return Nigeria back to where it was before you took over. Return us back and change us no more. |

The management of Alvan Ikoku Federal Collage of Education, Owerri, has announced the indefinite closure of the institution following a protest by the students on Monday. The provost of the institution, Dr Blessing Ijeoma, confirmed the closure. She said that the management issued the directive after the students destroyed the institution’s administrative block and about nine government vehicles. “We have approved an indefinite closure of AIFCE following today’s students’ protest and we have directed that every student should vacate the school premises,” she said. Students of AIFCE staged a violent protest against the management of the institution over the hike in both tuition and acceptance fees. The students said that management decided to increase the acceptance fee from N10,000 to N30,000 without consultation. They also alleged that the management raised the school fees from N30,000 to N70,000. The students said the essence of the protest was to draw the attention of management to their plight. However, the provost said the students’ claims were baseless and added that hoodlums seized the opportunity to cart away valuables, such as computers, from the ICT centre. Source: Daily Newspaper.
