Literature21 Life Mistakes You Need To Hurry Up And Forgive Yourself For Making… by ferdvict2(op): 10:47pm On Jul 19, 2017
Many people try to live by the motto of ‘live without regret’ but it is almost inevitable that someone will regret at least something from their past. In some cases, that regret can make it very difficult to keep moving forward with their life. They dwell on the past and suffer the regret daily.
In order to live a life of progress and growth one must learn to forgive one’s self and look towards the future rather than be consumed by regrets of the past.
Here are...

1. Places you never went

Many people neglected opportunities to travel while they were financially and physically able. It’s time to get off your duff and see what’s out there. Even on a budget there are many fascinating and often free things to explore in your community, in your state, or across the seas. Just because you didn’t go before doesn’t mean you can’t get out there now.

2. Jobs you didn’t take

Consider that the job you regret not getting (or going for) might not have been right for you. If your gut instinct was to refuse the job at the time, or if too many things pointed to you not going after it the job at the time then trust that you made the best decision you could at the time. If you still have career regrets, now is the time to consider what you really want to do with your work life and find a way to get it done.

3. Money you wasted

Money regrets are often one of the biggest regrets anyone has throughout their lifetime. In order to move on from the mistakes you’ve made before, you have to make a commitment to not letting history repeat itself. Start today by getting your finances in order and on the right path. Complacency about money matters will only prolong your regret. Take the Get Out of Debt Pledge and get on track this very minute!

4. Time you wasted

Whether your regret wasting years of your life or just the few hours you could have been more productive, you can stop the insanity and get serious about how you spend your time. There are a lot of distractions out there that can cause you to procrastinate. Start limiting your TV time, your computer time, and the other elements of your life that are guaranteed time wasters and instead seize the day every day.

5. Friends you hurt

Hurting people you love can be devastating especially if you can’t admit your role in the situation. If it is too late to make up with the person you hurt, make a commitment to practicing more kindness in your life to prevent another hurtful situation. Learn to walk away from the drama that is so prevalent in society today. We all know, life is too short.

6. Friendships lost

It can be difficult to lose your best friend over the years. People grow and change and may longer be the right fit into each other’s lives. If you lost a friendship that you regret, try reaching out to see what happens. If the other person does not respond, respect that. Work on being a better friend to those still in your life.

7. Love you lost

Love is often one regret people find it impossible to get over. Sadly, many people end up with additional regrets while mourning the loss of a past love (infidelity, lies). You must be willing to accept the life you have created for yourself and realize what you do have to be
grateful for every day. If the road to rekindling a relationship are free and clear, don’t let fear or regret hold you back. Take the risk and see where love can take you.

8. Opportunities you missed

They say opportunity only knocks once so if you missed answering the door to an opportunity in the past, ask yourself what is stopping you from creating newer, better opportunities. Figure out why it is you passed up the chance the first time around and be honest with yourself. Get over past regrets by searching for the next opportunity and going after it full force.

9. Family discord

Part of what makes up a family is the process of fighting and then forgiving. In some families the fighting seems unforgivable and many live years under the weight of a grudge. If you regret a long-lasting family squabble, be the first to make amends. Be prepared for what may result – good or bad. Rest easier knowing you did what you could to correct your mistakes. It’s sad to see or hear about families who get torn apart by seemingly stupid arguments. Don’t let your ego stand in the way.

10. Incomplete education

If you dropped out of school in the past, you may regret what you’ve missed out on by lacking the education you wanted. The good news is that in this day and age there are so many new ways to get educated, you can do better. Online courses, community colleges, and trade schools are much more accessible than in previous years. Contact the admissions office of the school you’ve been considering and get started on creating a better life for yourself.

11. Parenting mistakes

If you are a parent, there is likely at least one thing you regret about how you handled your kids. You may have one big regret (your child was seriously hurt when you weren’t paying attention) or a series of daily regrets (you lost your patience again!). Whatever the regret, know that no parent is perfect. Your family will love you for who you are. Get recommitted to spending quality time with them, listening actively, and doing what you have to in order to keep your family safe, healthy, and happy.

12. Poor eating habits

People often regret their lifelong poor eating habits after they’ve discovered a serious illness or an uncontrolled weight issue. If you often say you should eat better, don’t let your junk food obsession end in serious regret (or early death). Get proactive about eating right. Do some research about what you should be eating to fuel your body each day.

13. Lack of activity

If we all had a nickel for every time we’ve said we need to get more exercise, the majority of us would be filthy rich. Stop thinking about how you wished you were more active and get more active. Skip one television show a day and opt for a walk instead. With just 30 minutes of exercise each day can easily become a habit and you’ll feel healthier, stronger, and more clear-headed.

14. Lost religion

People defect from their religious upbringing or beliefs for a number of different reasons. While some people do not regret such decisions, others live with daily guilt that they are out of touch with their own spirituality. Take some time to think through what is missing in your life. Reach out to friends or fellow church members about your absence or desire to get involved again. Another solution is to simply take a minute to connect with your Higher Power through a simple prayer or meditation.

15. Missed volunteer opportunities

Volunteering can bring so much to your life. If you’ve been putting off opportunities to help another and now regret it, you still have plenty of opportunities waiting for you. From community soup kitchens to helping your elderly neighbor, there is a way you can benefit others around you. You can push regrets in the past by being available to lend a helping hand throughout your future.

16. Your bad attitude

We live chaotic lives. Being busy with work, family, activities, and whatever else you do can result in a bad mood. You may regret instances where your bad attitude hurt another’s feelings or made a bad situation even worse. To move past your previous attitude, learn how to calm yourself down and practice relaxation techniques every day to gain more inner peace.

17. Ignored intervention

As people in society continue to spiral out of control through use of drugs, alcohol, or violence, it is very likely that you have someone in your life affected by such negative influences. People often choose to avoid these situations out of fear or helplessness only to find out their friend later was hurt or killed. If you live with regrets of not helping someone facing such issues, you can learn to forgive yourself by helping others facing similar fates.

18. Misjudging others

Judging a book by its cover often leads to regret. You miss out on getting to know someone great or you end up saying something you regret to someone you don’t even know. Find forgiveness directly with the person you misjudged so you can forgive yourself. If that is not an option, make sure you avoid harsh or quick judgments in the future.

19. Not achieving a personal goal

Personal goals are often put to the wayside out of fear or procrastination. Living with the regret of not achieving a personal goal can set the stage for failing to create new goals or following through to achievement. Forget what you didn’t succeed at in the past. You can take what you’ve learned since then and set reasonable goals you commit to going after.

20. Lack of quality time with loved ones

This is a big regret, especially after the passing of a loved one. If you are living with regret of not spending enough quality time with your parents, grandparents, and other people you love, don’t let history repeat itself. Carve out quality time in your life regardless of how busy you are to spend more time with your family and friends. Let people know now how much you love and appreciate them because tomorrow is never a guarantee.

21. Lack of focus on self

People make the mistake all too often of forgetting about their own needs. While they are so busy making sure everyone else’s needs are met, they end up resenting their loved ones and regretting the lack of self-care they gave to themselves. Don’t live to regret not taking time enough for you. Treat yourself to an hour of reading, a manicure, a night out with friends.
What life mistakes can you start forgiving yourself for making? It’s time to have a new life and start the process.

It's time to CRUSH that debt!

PoliticsCorruption: Why EFCC Arraigned Former Enugu State Chief Judge by ferdvict2(op): 4:33am On Jul 15, 2017
The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), yesterday arraigned former Chief Judge of Enugu State, Justice Innocent Umezuluike before an Enugu High Court for alleged corruption.

Umezuluike appeared before Justice Anthony Onovo on a one-count charge of allegedly receiving N10 million donation from Chief Arthur Eze in February 2014, who was a litigant in a pending and concluded civil matter presided over by the former chief judge.

It said that Eze, the Chief Executive Officer of Oranto Petroleum LTD, made the donation at the launch of Umezuluike’s book “ABC of Contemporary Land Law in Nigeria.”

The EFCC said the money was drawn from the account of Oranto Patroleum LTD and paid into Umezuluike’s Zenith Bank Account.

Counsel to the commission, Mr Wahab Shittu told the court that the action is contrary to Section 19 of the Independent and Corrupt Practices and Other Related (offence) Act (Laws of the Federation) 2000.

The former Chief Judge, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Agu Gab-Agu, asked the court to grant Umezuluike bail on self recognition and to address him as “Honourable Justice”.

He argued that the former chief judge was granted bail on self recognition in a similar matter pending before the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt.

The prosecuting counsel, Shittu did not object to the bail request, but pleaded with the court for accelerated trial of the case.

Justice Onovo granted the former chief judge bail in the sum of N1 million and ordered that he be addressed as Justice Umezuluike during the trial.

The Judge adjourned the case till Oct. 26-27, and Nov. 2-3, 2017, for definite hearing.

PoliticsObiano: Oye Says Agbaso Will Not Conduct Primaries by ferdvict2(op): 4:23am On Jul 15, 2017
DESPITE the recent ruling of an Enugu High Court declaring the Imo State –born Chief Martin Agbaso as the national chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Dr. Victor Oye who was ousted by the court from that office is vowing that he would be the one to present Chief Willie Obiano for the election.

His assertion is despite his effort to overturn the decision of Justice R. A. Ozoemena which conferred legitimacy to Agbaso as national chairman of the party.

Sounding confident in an interview, Oye told Saturday Vanguard that he will be the one to conduct primaries and submit the name of the APGA candidate, who, in this case, will be Governor Obiano, to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the governorship election because the judgment of the Enugu High Court was not binding on him.

“I was not joined in the suit and therefore, I should not be made to suffer any liability for something I did not do. I decided to go to Court of Appeal as an aggrieved party because my name was inadvertently mentioned. I had to do that to remedy my image that had been wickedly soiled by the order of the Enugu High Court

“Those that were supposed to be affected by the order of the court, namely the police and INEC, because of their roles in the governorship election and which are federal agencies, are also at the Court of Appeal to vacate the order.

“The INEC has proceedings of the national convention that produced me and the Commission knows that I am the only person legitimately and legally produced as the national chairman. Martin Agbaso is a total stranger in APGA as far as we are concerned.

“So Obiano has nothing to fear as far as contesting the election to complete the good work he is doing in the state is concerned. It is possible that those sponsoring Agbaso and his group are people in other parties who know that they do not have any chance, if they contest against the governor.”

Oye said the seeming crisis had even united APGA more as people had realized the motive of the sponsors of the division in the party.

PoliticsFrom Senate Comes A Relief For Gunshot Victims by ferdvict2(op): 4:08am On Jul 15, 2017
At the end of 2008, there was a tragic story in the newspapers about a young 8-year old boy that died from a single gunshot wound that could have been treated.

The story was about a bank robbery that happened in Lagos, which culminated in the death of eight civilians. However, the death of the eighth casualty, the young boy — who was hit by a stray bullet — could have been easily avoided. This is because when the child was rushed to a nearby hospital by passersby, the staff of the hospital refused to treat him without a police report. Needless to say, in the time that it took for the police report to be requested for, written out, and transported back to the hospital, the 8-year old boy bled to death.

Issues like the aforementioned story are rampant. We hear about them everyday; read about them in the news; and watch news reports about victims that could have been saved.
However, based on current legal practices, many lives have been lost. This is why, this week, the Senate fast-tracked the passage of the Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Bill. The Bill, which was sent to the Senate for concurrence by House of Representatives, seeks to ensure that all victims of gunshot wounds receive necessary treatment from medical workers and assistance from security agencies.

The Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, was right when he stated after the passage of the Bill, that with the Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Bill, the Senate has moved to ensure that everyone is entitled to medical treatment — irrespective of the cause of the shooting. This is because so many lives have been lost in the absence of this law.

As things stand, innocent victims who have been shot by robbers, must first be rushed to a police station to secure a police report, before they are rushed to the hospital for treatment. This has led to many avoidable deathsl. This is because having a system in place that forces both the good and the bad people who have been shot to first request police reports before going to the hospital, makes the innocent people among them victims of circumstance (i.e. robberies, or stray bullets); victims of the hospitals, who refuse to treat gunshot victims without police reports; victims of the police, who oftentimes do not process these requests in a speedy manner; and victims of Nigeria’s current laws that make police reports mandatory for both law-abiding citizens and criminals alike.

By the passage of the Gunshot Victims Act, the Senate has moved Nigeria one step forward to saving tens of thousands of lives each year. This law has addressed several inadequacies — like ensuring that society has a burden placed on it to ensure that there will be no unnecessary loss of lives.

Moving forward, based on certain provisions of the new law, every person, including security agents must render every possible assistance to any person with gunshot wounds. This assistance includes ensuring that the person that has been shot is taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Additionally, the Bill preserves the fundamental rights of gunshot victims by mandating that no person with a bullet wound shall be subjected to inhuman and degrading treatment and that no person with a gunshot wound shall be refused immediate and adequate treatment by any hospital in Nigeria — whether or not an initial deposit has been paid or not.

Finally, the Bill takes the approach of several nations, that have a ‘treat first, ask questions later’ mindset. This is because it specifies that it shall be the duty of any hospital that receives any person with a gunshot wound to report the situation to the nearest police station. This amendment puts the horse back in front of the cart, because saving lives must always come before due process.

Moving forward, Nigerians must commend the National Assembly for the passage of this Bill, and urge that it is signed into law by the Acting President. On top of this, the Presidency and the Executive arm must properly orient officers and men of security agencies to comply with the dictates of this law. Doing this, will show the world that we have society that values the lives of our citizens, more than we value the ‘perception of adherence’ to the rule of law.

I rest my case.

Science/TechnologyWeb Hosting Company – HUB8 – Introduces Free Internet Services To Nigeria by ferdvict2(op): 10:01am On Jul 14, 2017
Global Web Hosting Company, HUB8, has recently rolled out hosting services targeted at customers in the Nigerian technology hemisphere – HUB8 Nigeria .

The launching indicates an increase in demand for internet technology tools in the country for communications, information, and business transactions. With more Nigerians embracing the use of the internet for financially-related transactions, which in turn is generating a preference for online purchase platforms compared to traditional platforms, the use of the internet for multiple business objectives and as an alternative to traditional business models could be on the verge of an unprecedented rise.
Web hosting in Nigeria has witnessed progressive growth since its inception more than a decade ago, amidst the request for quality, affordable and reliable hosting. As more individuals turn to the web for different reasons, and confidence is increasing with respect to carrying purchases and conducting payments online, the registration for new domains and hosting requirements could be set to rise even further. The Nigeria Internet Registration Association states that the requests for new domains would continually rise, with 4,122 Domain Name Registrations carried out in the month of May only.

The Internet Registration Association has also called for assistance from journalists and media channels to create awareness of the availability of the .ng string.

Dean of the NiRA Academy, Sikiri Shehu, states that the adoption of the .ng domains has the potential to cause a ripple effect in the economy, through the creation of jobs, the investment of capital back into the economy, and other income generating ventures. He acknowledges that the preference for foreign domains would reduce the amount of income coming into the economy, as Nigerians spend money to purchase these domains.
Currently as it stands, he says, the number of .co.uk domain names is getting to the 11 million mark, the .cn 22 million, while the number of the .ng domain names is at a paltry 100,000.

The arrival of HUB8, web host and domain registrar resident in several countries, with a domestic team to respond timely to the demand for services, could be poised to accelerate the growth of domain registration and hosting in the country.

To the end of purchasing domain names, the company has also affirmed her commitment to having the .com.ng and .ng domain names included in her portfolio.

The company’s business model is based on the premise that with a domain name, and a few minutes to spare, subscribers can have a website designed and ready to go live in as little as 10 minutes. – all for free. Observing the need for more storage and bandwidth, subscribers can opt for the paid packages.

A quick breakdown of product offerings:
– Domain Name Registration – Required to establish a unique identity on the web. The registration of a domain name involves deciding upon a name that would suit the impression to be created or the service to be offered via the web, and then a payment made for the registration of the name. Promo packages presently available dictate that a domain name can be purchased for a minimal fee of N350
With the domain name in hand, subscribers can take advantage of the company’s free website builder and hosting packages.

– Website Builder : Constructed for individuals with no coding skills – however with an eye for design, the website builder offers the opportunity to have a website designed, up and running in as little as 25 minutes. The availability of different themes and the possibility of modifying the final outcome offers the opportunity to create unique, eye-pleasing designs.

– WordPress Websites : Similar to the Website Builder, the WordPress website package offers the avenue to have a WordPress website designed and published for free. The storage and bandwidth for this package is 500 Mb and 100 GB. The paid packages offer larger bandwidth, storage capacity and additional websites hosted, at the same costs.

– The final package is the Free CPanel Website Hosting . This is the most attractive option for web developers. Subscribers can start, without any payment commitments, with a 500mb storage and bandwidth of 100 GB. The paid plans offer as much as 10 GB storage capacity, installed on SSD disks, with unlimited bandwidth.
With the ecommerce terrain gaining momentum and influencing customer purchasing, the free website hosting remains the optimal option, to begin with the idea, the objective, in the long run, to host sites similar to Amazon, Ebay etc.

With the availability of the standard cPanel control panel, owners of existing domains on other hosting platforms can easily move their files, to take advantage of the free website hosting.

Regardless of hosting plan selected, the availability of the free options offers the opportunity for anyone to publish the desired information on the web.

Discounting the possibilities of the hidden fees and adverts on websites on the free plans, the company states that there would be no hidden fees or adverts, enabling subscribers of these plans to focus on profitability and growth, until there is the requirement for the paid packages.
Web developers, business owners and bloggers looking for more information and additional resources can visit the HUB8 Blog.

RomanceCan You Marry An Addict? by ferdvict2(op): 9:58pm On Jul 13, 2017
Many marriages have been scattered due to late discovery of the other as an addict in one area or the other.

ADDICT includes; Sex, smoking, drinking and among others.

I don't see my self marrying a woman to be called wife to be smoking because the children she will be likely to reproduce might have brain or physical structure problems and this same children will likely be chains smokers since mother's have a high part of influence on children.

A drinking woman to be called my wife is unacceptable at all because I don't see her contributing to the family meaningfully let alone to have the right senses to take care of children.

SEX addict, Hmmm, this will go down with me only if she does not go out to other men for sex but if the addict won't allow have only me on bed, then we can't roll to avoid "gone to soon poster".

EducationSchool Curriculum: Why Reps Returned CRK As Independent Subject. by ferdvict2(op): 7:56am On Jul 12, 2017
By a unanimous voice vote, the House of Representatives yesterday jettisoned the government policy which subsumed Christian Religious Knowledge, CRK, in Civic Education as a compulsory subject in secondary school curriculum.

This followed a motion, titled “Call to make Civic Education an optional instead of a compulsory subject for Senior Certificate Examination”, by Beni Lar from Plateau State.

The members after an exhaustive debate on the motion at plenary, agreed that the policy was incongruent with the spirit and letters of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) on the provision of religious liberties.

The members agreed that students with the inputs of their parents at formative years should be taught the religious subjects of their choice in school.

Essentially, the House, while pointing out that policy makers erred ab initio in tampering with the existing policy, also agreed that Islamic Studies and CRK should be taught independently and separately in the spirit of the constitution.
It will be recalled that the issue recently became a subject of controversy which pitted Christians in the country against the government.

Moving the motion, Lar noted: “Under the previous Secondary School Curriculum which brought a lot of discontentment, Civic Education was not a compulsory subject and religious education was taught as Islamic Religious Knowledge (IRK) and Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK), both of which were optional subjects.

“The Federal Ministry of Education introduced a revised curriculum without due consultation with parents and stakeholders and the new nine-year Basic Education Curriculum on Religion and National Values Consolidated Religious Education and Civic Education under National Values and made Civic Education a compulsory subject for Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations.”

The lawmaker also observed that the “curriculum for primary one to three, which is the formative stage of a child does not provide for adequate teaching of the religious beliefs of the people but rather destructive half-truths which destroy the fundamental beliefs and erodes the essence of such religion being taught the children.”

Expressing concern that the new curriculum was in conflict with certain religious beliefs, Lar submitted: “Section 10 of the 1999 Constitution makes Nigeria a secular state and, therefore, Religion should be separated from national values.”

Supporting the motion, the Majority Leader of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila from Lagos State, stated that the new policy was against the provision of the constitution.

“Any law or policy that restricts freedom should be guided. You cannot teach a little child against his or her believes. When there is a policy of government that goes against our constitution, such policy should be fought against by this House. Religion is a very significant and delicate issue, we must be very careful and be guided.

“Freedom is key. Any law or policy that restricts that policy is what we must act against. Religion is a way of life. You cannot instruct a child in two cultures,’’ he said.

Also contributing, Ben Nwankwo ( Imo state- PDP) said “ the Ministry of Education should be mindful of the content of the country’s educational curriculum, it goes a long way to affect children positively or negatively.”

Similarly, Okey Jev (Benue- APC) on his part, said: “I am just wondering how we combine both religion and make it compulsory, considering the religious sensitivity of this country where some people kill in the name of religion.’’

Quoting section 31(1and 2) of the constitution, Johnson Egbonniyma/Edo- (PDP) said the constitution stated it clear that children should not be taught any thing outside the approval of parents or guidance.

Rita Orji (Lagos, PDP) said: “This is a complete confusion to children in school. Looking at the curriculum, it is already compulsory for students to undertake religion that they are not practicing from home.

‘’I am begging this Honorable House to save this nation and call on the Ministry of Education to withdraw this curriculum.”

Lending his support to the motion also, Aminu Shehu Shagari ( Sokoto), stated: “The intended curriculum coming to effect from September should be carefully looked into, especially as it has to do with religion. We should be careful to take decisions that deal with sensitive matters.

“Any law that is inconsistent with the constitution is null and void. Our constitution says you are free to practice whatever religion or not to practice at all.”

Attempt by Aisha Dukku to call for a setting up of a stakeholders’ forum for further consultation on the matter was shouted down by the lawmakers.
Shortly before he gave his ruling on the matter, the presiding officer of the House and Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Lasun, faulted the policy.

“This policy is completely wrong. If the Ministry of Education had studied our constitution carefully, it wouldn’t have come up with such policy that is totally against freedom of religion.” he sated.

Adhering to the prayers of the motion, Lasun ruled that the Federal Ministry of Education should make Civic Education compulsory, remove the religious components and teach both IRS and CRK separately and independently.

FamilyI Denied My Husband Sex Because Of Cigarette Odour - Wife Tells Court by ferdvict2(op): 11:12pm On Jul 10, 2017
A 44-year-old woman by name Modupe Alegbeleye, on Thursday told an Ikole-Ekiti Customary Court in Ekiti that she denied her husband, Ebenezer Alegbeleye, sex because of the cigarette odour from him.

Modupe said this while replying to a statement by her husband that she denied him sex for three months.

According to her, my husband likes smoking cigarettes but I do not like its odour.

“So, whenever he smoked and demanded sex; I was always turning down his demand as I hated cigarette’s odour.

“Although, I knew that my husband was a cigarette smoker before we started our relationship, I was always advising him to stop it.

“I was also praying so that he would quit it, but to no avail.

“That is why, sometimes, I would ask him to take his bath before making love to me.

“1 also denied him sex because I did not want more children based on the experience I had when I was to give birth to our second child.

“I lost the baby due to lack of proper care for the baby and me from my husband,’’ the woman said.
The husband, however, told the court that he needed more children because he was the only child of his mother.

“I am the only child of my mother. When my wife gave birth to our only son 10, years ago, I told her she would bear me more children.

“But my wife said no; and she has been denying me any romantic advances I make to her,” Alegbeleye said.

He told the court that peace would reign between them without separation, “If my wife will change her attitude and agree to bear me more children.

“She will also agree to take proper care of me by cooking my meals, which she had denied me for long.”

The court’s president, Mrs Yemisi Ojo, adjourned the case until May 22 for judgment after all efforts made to reconcile them proved unsuccessful.

Politics‘if You Give Tinubu Appointment He Will Give It To A Yoruba Man’ by ferdvict2(op): 9:45pm On Jul 09, 2017
Governor Ayo Fayose has said that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bola Tinubu is his leader and that if you give an appointment opportunity to him he will give a Yoruba man not minding if the person is from the APC or not.

Fayose made this known in Edo State at the 13th convocation lecture at the Benson Idahosa University in Benin, Edo state.

He said that: “I am not an APC member and I will never be. But remember the fact that our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a courageous man in his own right, our leader in Yoruba land, forget about politics, if they give Asiwaju appointment, he will give a Yoruba man. Whether he is in the APC does not matter.

“And I came out strongly; I defended him. I am not defending politics. I am defending the truth. Our politics must have where we would stop it and say the truth as may be necessary.”

Fayose also speaking on his presidential ambition said “I am the man to watch in this generation. So, I am controversial because I am doing things other men like me cannot do. They are scared. They are afraid; they don’t have courage.

“What I am saying to you is that controversy is necessary for democracy. We must have our voice.

“Some people chose to be under the table; they don’t want to die. They are afraid.
“But remember that the Bible says that those who want to gain their life will lose it and those that lose their life will gain it.

“My strength lies in God Almighty. If you put me inside running water, the water will become still. If you put me the den of lions, the teeth, the claws will go inside; you can find that in the Bible too,” he added.

Quoting Joshua 1:6-7, 9 and 17, Fayose said: “I draw my power from those things (Bible passages). When I wake up, I lie down in my bathroom and say “Lord, many are the afflictions of the righteous. But the Lord God will deliver him from them all.”

“Lord, many are the afflictions of the righteous. But the Lord God will deliver him from them all,” he added.

PoliticsOsun West Election: APC Accepts Defeat by ferdvict2(op): 9:34pm On Jul 09, 2017
The All Progressives Congress Party, APC, in Osun state has accepted defeat following the victory by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the Bye-election that was conducted yesterday in the state to fill the vacant seat at the Senate left by late Senator Isiaka Adeleke.

The chief returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Osun, Professor Olaide Lawal of Oye Ekiti University had said that Ademola Adeleke of PDP polled 97,480 votes to defeat Mudashiru Hussain of APC who polled 66,116 votes.

In an acceptance statement issued to newsmen, the APc in Osun congratulated both the PDP candidate, Adeleke on his victory and the people of Osun on their choice and for their peaceful conduct during the election.

It said although the party was defeated, however, that “election for us is not an end in itself but a means to an end.”

The statement read thus:

Bye-election was held yesterday to fill the vacant Osun West Senatorial seat.
“This became necessary following the death of one of our leaders, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who was elected in 2015 and held the post until his demise on 23 April.

“Senator Mudashir Husain, who had occupied the post between 2011 and 2015, but was asked to step down for the late Isiaka Adeleke, was fielded by our party. After a keen contest, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ademola Adeleke, was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“We congratulate the people of the 10 local governments that participated in the election for their peaceful conduct and on the choice they have made. We equally commend the APC led federal and state government for ensuring peaceful, free and fair election.

“We also congratulate Ademola Adeleke for his victory and we hope that now that the election is behind us, he will put partisan politics aside to represent the interest of the entire people of his constituency.

“Although the outcome is contrary to our expectation, the people have spoken and we heard their voice loud and clear. As democrats, we respect their choice. The people of Osun West Senatorial District have stood by us in past elections and have always voted for our tendency since the colonial era.

“We are proud of them. We are proud of our party and we are proud of all our members and sympathisers. We shall study the pattern of the result, learn the right lessons from it and return stronger for the next election.

“We shall remain resolute in our commitment as a political party to the welfare of our people, building them up today in order to prepare them for a better tomorrow.

“We are a party of the people. Election for us is not an end in itself but a means to an end – which is to best represent the interest of the people. We have been consistent, irrespective of the outcomes of elections, favourable or unfavourable.

“Our greater concern has always been the people and their welfare. We are therefore assuring our people that we are still the party that guarantees better life for them, maximum social protection in the provision of free education, economic empowerment and life more abundant.”

PoliticsObasanjo Best President Nigeria Ever Had – Aare Afe Babalola by ferdvict2(op): 9:26pm On Jul 09, 2017
Founder and President of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, ABUAD, Ekiti State, Aare Afe Babalola, has described former President, Olusegun Obasanjo as best President Nigeria ever had.

Babalola said Obasanjo, who had a rare opportunity to lead the nation for three times, as Military Head of State in the late 70s and elected President from 2009 to 2007, was known to him to be: ”A very energetic, strong-willed, and stubborn person”, adding: “He is difficult to persuade but he is a progressive man. He never became a Professor but he knows better than most professors. He is a highly talented man and is the the best President Nigeria ever had.”

The Senior lawyer further said it was Obasanjo’s efforts in support of UNESCO during his tenure that helped in repositioning education properly in the country.

Aare Babalola made the remarks while receiving members of the Yoruba Patriots Group, who nominated him to be their patron.

Speaking about the objectives of the group, its Publicity Secretary, Segun Adewale, who harped on restructuring of Nigeria, said: “The Yoruba Patriots Group was formed in 2005 by progressive Yoruba people who desires progress and unity for the nation.

” We felt that the way the Yoruba nation is being relegated to the background within the commonwealth of Nigeria is not acceptable.

” What we intend to do is a legacy that would survive us. And to do this we are consulting with established Yoruba men who love the nation and who have the knowledge and have made serious sacrifices to make Yoruba number one in the world.

”Aare Afe Babalola is one of them. This is why we consult with him to get a template that would make Yoruba the most economically developed nation in Africa. We are working together with all other stakeholders, the South-West governors, other pan-Yoruba groups such as Afenifere and others to achieve this. It is when we work together that we can achieve a rapid, systematic and sustainable development.

” The meeting with Aare Babalola has been very successful and he has accepted to be our grand patron. Our group is an umbrella for all socio-cultural groups in Yoruba race.

Speaking on the agenda of the group, Aare Babalola said: “I support the agenda of the Yoruba Patriots that we want to have our rightful place in the comity of nation’s in the country The kind of restructuring that is needed in Nigeria is one that would give autonomy for each ethnic nationalities to manage itself in all areas of economy, education, power and others with the exception of geographical expression.

Aare Babalola also commented on the choice of two lawyers from his chamber as SAN recently: ” I am very happy that two out of 29 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SAN, are from my chamber. That makes 19 of the SANS in my chamber and it is a record that would be very difficult to match any were. It shows that if juniors understudy their seniors and are not in an hurry, they can make it. My advice is don’t be in an hurry to go and start a kingdom.”

He went down memory lane to explain his long years of rapport with former President Obasanjo: “The path of myself and Obasanjo crossed when he introduced zero party representation system as military Head of State. My people then chose me to represent them. And I agreed to represent them even though I wasn’t a politician.

”But some politician who felt that if I went to represent my people, it would affect their chance, went to court to say that I should be disqualified because I haven’t paid my tax.

”And I had an obsession at that time of over paying my tax in advance, so that if at the end of auditing, I had overpaid, I had some money repaid to me.

”I challenged them at the court because that was an attack on my integrity. So, I eventually won the case and my name was sent to Obasanjo as the qualified person to represent my people.
”Obasanjo in spite of that chose the politician and I went back to my practice as a lawyer. That incident prevented me from dabbling into the murky waters of Nigerian politics.

”Obasanjo left office and years after, there was an allegation by late Senator Olusola Saraki that about N2.8 billion pounds and put it in his own bank then. The students then we’re angry and protested in Lagos. So, a panel of inquiry was set up to investigate the allegation. I was asked to defend the Federal Government at the court and Obasanjo was invited to give evidence as a former Head of State.

And we met at the court where I cross-examined him. That was when he met me physically and recognised that I was the same man whose name was sent to him at the time.

” Later, Obasanjo was sued for writing a book called :” is not my will’. He called me to defend him and that was how our age long rapport began. We got closer and closer until 2009 when he was to be President and was sued again by several others, Olu Falae, Buhari and others and he invited me and I won the cases for him.

”He later attempted to make me Attorney General of the nation but I turned the offer down. But when he invited me to come clean up the rot in education system at the University of Lagos, as Pro-chancellor, I accepted but with a condition not to get all the emoluments. I served selflessly and was awarded best Pro-chancellor for two terms that I served there.

The quality of education we offer is akin to that given in London, U.S and other Canada among others. Where we charge N1 million, these countries charge N17 million and N5 million. That is why our university is the best alternative to overseas schooling, ” he said.

RomanceI Will Marry A White Man Because Nigerian Men Are ...— Actress, Sylvia Edem by ferdvict2(op): 2:22pm On Jul 09, 2017
Sultry Nollywood actress cum producer, Sylvia Edem, has openly shunned the idea of ever settling for a Nigerian husband, saying, though, she has no problem with Nigerian men but believes they are not right for her.

Speaking with Potpourri in anticipation of premiere of her new movie ‘Sandcastle’, the pretty actress opened up on infidelity in marriage and how love can stand the test of any situation.

“I don’t have a problem with Nigerian men but I just feel they are not right for me. I’ve been in one or two relationships with a Nigerian man, and I tried to make it work but it didn’t work, it didn’t favour me. Right now, I’m single and just patiently waiting for the right man to come my way.

Nigerian men are not faithful. I’ve actually said I wanted to marry a White man right from when I was growing up. It’s not like Nigerian men are that bad but this is my own choice; it’s what I want; after trying two relationships with Nigerian men and it didn’t work for me, I gave up”, she said.

Asked what would be her reaction if she discovers that her husband cannot satisfy her in bed, she said; “Let me tell you something about marriage, it’s all about love; whether a man can satisfy me in bed or not, if I love him I will remain in the marriage because I didn’t marry him because of the size of his manhood or how much he can satisfy me in bed. I married him because I love him so I should be able to stay in the marriage”, she said.

SportsLille Sack Enyeama, 10 Others By Sms by ferdvict2(op): 9:47am On Jul 05, 2017
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is one of 11 players who have been told they are no longer required by new Lille coach Marcelo Bielsa.

The French club’s new Argentine boss has also sent messages to Zambia’s Stoppila Sunzu, Tunisia’s Naim Sliti and Ivory Coast’s Junior Tallo saying they are not part of his plans.

Enyeama, who played 101 times for the Super Eagles, only signed a new deal last season and could choose to follow the lead of Tallo.

“As for me, I’m under contract. I will respect the two years I have left. I’m in no hurry,” the Ivorian told French Newspaper L’Equipe.

“I want to establish myself at Lille.

“It’s the club that wants me to leave. We’ll see if they find a solution between now and the end of the transfer window. I’m calm. It’s a bit bizarre, but I’m handling it OK.

“I was informed like the others, by text. We’re under contract, the club does what it wants.

“We would have liked to have had a discussion. But it’s a business choice made by the bosses.
The club has already made some summer signings including Burkina Faso international goalkeeper Herve Koffi following Lille’s disappointing 11th place finish in Ligue 1 last season.

But the African quartet, former captain Rio Mavuba, Eder, Julian Palmieri, Marko Basa, Éric Bauthéac, Lenny Nangis and Marvin Martin have been ordered to stay away from the rest of the squad as pre-season started on 3 July.

Enyeama, who joined Lille in June 2011 and has made 164 appearances, welcomed the signing of Koffi last month.

On Monday, Enyeama tweeted a photo with some of his fellow outcasts, who also include Montenegro international Marko Basa, France international Marvin Martin and , stating: “Always a pleasure to be back with the team.”

RomanceTen Guys You Should Never Date. by ferdvict2(op): 11:15pm On Jul 02, 2017
No matter who you are, how desperate you feel, how long you’ve been single or how badly you’re looking for a date, please do yourself a favor and avoid these 10 guys like the plague:

THE SORT OF SPIRITUAL GUY

THIS IS THE NICE GUY MOST GIRLS WOULD FALL FOR. HE LETS YOU CHOOSE EVERYTHING BECAUSE HE WANTS WHATEVER MAKES YOU HAPPY, EVEN WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE. HE MAY GO TO CHURCH ON SUNDAYS, HAVE GOOD MORALS AND EVEN SAY THE RIGHT THINGS. BUT DEEP DOWN, HE’S ONLY SORT OF SPIRITUAL. HIS LIFE HAS HINTS OF JESUS (OR SO YOU TELL YOURSELF), INSTEAD OF BEING
DEFINED BY JESUS. DON’T JUST SETTLE FOR A CHURCH-PHRASE LITERATE MAN, LOOK FOR A JESUS-LOVING MAN.

THE NOT THAT INTO YOU GUY

I DON’T KNOW WHAT IT IS ABOUT THIS GUY, BUT LET ME WARN YOU—HE’S ADDICTING. THERE’S JUST SOMETHING ABOUT THE UNKNOWN (“DOES HE LIKE ME, OR NOT?”) THAT KEEPS YOU GUESSING AND COMING BACK FOR MORE. YOU CAN RECOGNIZE HIM IN THAT HE KNOWS HOW TO TALK THE TALK, BUT HIS ACTIONS NEVER SEEM TO FOLLOW SUIT. BUT THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THIS KIND OF GUY IS THAT HE’S USING YOU FOR AS LONG AS YOU’LL STICK AROUND. SO DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON’T STICK AROUND.

THE ‘YOU’LL MAKE A GREAT SIDEKICK’ GUY

THIS GUY HAS A STRONG VISION FOR HIS FUTURE. A LITTLE TOO STRONG. WHEN HE LOOKS AT YOU, HE SEES A CHECKBOX FOR HIS FIVE-YEAR PLAN, AND IT’S NOT SOMETHING YOU GET MUCH OF A SAY IN. MARRIAGE IS A PROP TO HIM, PART OF A CAREFULLY CONTROLLED IMAGE, AND HE EXPECTS THIS PROP TO JUST NOD ALONG WITH ALL OF HIS DECISIONS. HE DOESN’T ACTUALLY NEED YOU. YOU CERTAINLY DON’T NEED HIM. LOOK FOR A MAN WHO IS MARKED BY HUMILITY AND SELFLESSNESS, BECAUSE ONLY THAT KIND OF MAN CAN LOVE YOU LIKE YOU DESERVE TO BE LOVED.

THE ON AGAIN AND OFF AGAIN GUY

THIS GUY WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET YOU TO STAY ON HIS ROLLER-COASTER RIDE OF UP AND DOWN EMOTIONS. ONE MOMENT YOU’RE “THE ONE” AND THE NEXT MOMENT HE’S CONFUSED, CONFINED AND NON-COMMITTAL. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS GUY IS THAT THIS ISN’T A “PHASE,” IT’S A GLIMPSE OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. TALK ABOUT SOME SERIOUS NAUSEA. TIME TO GET OFF THE ROLLERCOASTER—OR BETTER YET, NEVER GET ON.

THE OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND GUY

THIS GUY IS SWEET, CHARMING, FLIRTATIOUS AND BASICALLY EVERYTHING YOU IMAGINED HIM TO BE—WHILE YOU’RE AROUND. BUT WHEN YOU’RE NOT AROUND? WELL, HE’S THAT SAME SWEET, CHARMING AND FLIRTATIOUS GUY WITH THE NEXT GIRL. FOR HIM, IT’S NOT ABOUT COMMITMENT, IT’S ABOUT THE MOMENT. THAT’S DEFINITELY NOT A GUY YOU CAN TRUST.

THE KEEPIN’ MY OPTIONS OPEN GUY

HE SAYS HE’S INTERESTED. HE MIGHT EVEN TELL YOU HE’S IN LOVE. BUT THEN WHY DO YOU FIND YOURSELF WORRIED ABOUT WHO ELSE HE’S INTERACTING WITH, AND HOW HE’S INTERACTING WITH THEM? WITH THE RIGHT GUY THERE ARE NO OPTIONS, THERE ARE ONLY RELATIONSHIPS. AND HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS CAN ONLY DEVELOP AND PROGRESS WHEN THE FOCUS IS ON ONE PERSON AT A TIME.

THE LET’S GET PHYSICAL GUY

THE THING THAT MAKES ME CRAZY ABOUT THIS GUY IS THAT HE’S SO OBVIOUS , YET SO CHARMING. HE MAKES YOU THINK THAT HE’S REALLY INTO YOU, WHEN ALL THE WHILE HIS PRIMARY FOCUS IS ON WHAT HE CAN GET FROM YOU. BUT EVEN WITH HIS OBVIOUS ADVANCES AND FIXATION ON THE PHYSICAL, YOU’LL FIND YOURSELF MAKING EXCUSES, GIVING MORE AND MORE OF YOURSELF. RECOGNIZE HIM QUICKLY, AND ONCE YOU DO, MAKE A QUICK BREAK. DON’T GET STUCK IN THE PHYSICAL, BECAUSE HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS ARE BUILT ON SO MUCH MORE.

THE I DON’T WANNA GROW UP GUY

THIS GUY WILL MAKE YOU FEEL MORE LIKE HIS MOM THAN HIS GIRLFRIEND. HE’LL HAVE YOU TAKING CARE OF HIM BEFORE YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT HIT YOU. AND YOU’LL LIKE IT AT FIRST, BECAUSE IT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL IMPORTANT. BUT WHAT YOU DON’T REALIZE IS THAT A RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS GUY IS SURE TO BE ONE-SIDED. SO UNTIL HE’S READY TO PUT DOWN THE VIDEO GAMES, PAY HIS OWN BILLS AND DO HIS OWN LAUNDRY, IT’S TIME TO MOVE ON TO BIGGER AND “MORE MATURE” THINGS. YOU DESERVE A PARTNER, NOT SOMEONE WHO NEEDS A PARENT.

THE TRACK RECORD GUY

YOU KNOW ALL ABOUT HIS HISTORY. IN FACT, THIS GUY HAS QUITE A REPUTATION WITH THE LADIES. SO WHY ON EARTH DID YOU CONVINCE YOURSELF THAT THINGS WOULD BE DIFFERENT WITH YOU? THIS GUY WILL LEAVE YOU WITH A BROKEN-HEART—JUST LIKE HE LEFT THE STRING OF GIRLS BEFORE YOU. YES, PEOPLE CAN CHANGE—AND NO MATTER WHO YOU END UP WITH, YOU’LL HAVE TO GIVE THEM GRACE FOR THEIR PAST—BUT UNLESS YOU’VE SEEN EVIDENCE OF CHANGE IN THIS GUY’S LIFE, COME TO TERMS WITH THE REALITY THAT YOU CAN’T CHANGE HIM WITH YOUR LOVE. INSTEAD, FIND SOMEONE WHO YOU CAN LOVE FOR WHO THEY ARE, NOT FOR WHAT YOU HOPE THEM TO BE.

THE WHITE LIES GUY

A RELATIONSHIP BUILT WITHOUT HONESTY IS REALLY NO RELATIONSHIP AT ALL. I DON’T CARE IF HE’S LYING ABOUT HIS AGE, HIS PAST, HIS FAMILY OR THE COLOR OF HIS CAR—A LIE, IS A LIE, IS A LIE. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, EARLY ON IN A RELATIONSHIP, IT’S A BIG RED FLAG. THIS GUY IS MARKED BY A PATTERN OF DISHONESTY AND LITTLE WHITE LIES, LIES ABOUT THINGS THAT MIGHT NOT EVEN MATTER. BUT WHAT MATTERS IS THE HABITS THAT ARE BEING FORMED, AND THE FACADE THAT’S BEING MAINTAINED. A MAN WHO HAS NOTHING TO HIDE BECOMES A SAFE PLACE IN WHICH A WOMAN CAN HIDE HER HEART. LOOK FOR THAT KIND OF A MAN.

CrimeBride Terry Kidnapped, Gang-raped, Left To Die On Her Way To Wedding. by ferdvict2(op): 7:11pm On Jun 30, 2017
A lady, Terry Gobanga, formerly Terry Apudo, was the rape victim who survived and now tells her story. A young Nairobi pastor, she was the bride that everybody was waiting for at the church that faithful wedding day.

Nobody, not even the eagerly waiting groom ever thought or had an inkling of what had happened.
But that was how Terry suffered the second tragedy of her life in a quick succession.
According to her, “It was going to be a very big wedding. I was a pastor, so all our church members were coming, as well as all our relatives. My fiance, Harry, and I were very excited – we were getting married in All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi and I had rented a beautiful dress,” she told BBCAfrica.

Terry Gobanga
Continuing, Terry said, “But the night before the wedding I realised that I had some of Harry’s clothes, including his cravat. He couldn’t show up without a tie, so a friend who had stayed the night offered to take it to him first thing in the morning. We got up at dawn and I walked her to the bus station.

“As I was making my way back home, I walked past a guy sitting on the bonnet of a car – suddenly he grabbed me from behind and dumped me in the back seat. There were two more men inside, and they drove off. It all happened in a fraction of a second.

“A piece of cloth was stuffed in my mouth. I was kicking and hitting out and trying to scream. When I managed to push the gag out, I screamed: “It’s my wedding day!” That was when I got the first blow. One of the men told me to “co-operate or you will die”.

“The men took turns to rape me. I felt sure I was going to die, but I was still fighting for my life, so when one of the men took the gag out of my mouth I bit his manhood. He screamed in pain and one of them stabbed me in the stomach. Then they opened the door and threw me out of the moving car.

“I was miles from home, outside Nairobi. More than six hours had passed since I had been abducted.

“A child saw me being thrown out and called her grandmother. People came running. When the police came they tried to get a pulse, but no-one could. Thinking I was dead, they wrapped me in a blanket and started to take me to the mortuary. But on the way there, I choked on the blanket and coughed. The policeman said: “She’s alive?” And he turned the car around and drove me to the biggest government hospital in Kenya.

“I arrived in great shock, murmuring incoherently. I was half-naked and covered in blood, and my face was swollen from being punched. But something must have alerted the matron, because she guessed I was a bride. “Let’s go around the churches to see if they’re missing a bride,” she told the nurses.

“By coincidence, the first church they called at was All Saints Cathedral. “Are you missing a bride?” the nurse asked.
“The minister said: “Yes, there was a wedding at 10 o’clock and she didn’t come.”

“When I didn’t show up to the church, my parents were panicking. People were sent out to search for me. Rumours flew. Some wondered: “Did she change her mind?” Others said: “No, it’s so unlike her, what happened?”

“After a few hours, they had to take down the decorations to make room for the next ceremony. Harry had been put in the vestry to wait.

“When they heard where I was, my parents came to the hospital with the whole entourage. Harry was actually carrying my wedding gown. But the media had also got wind of the story so there were reporters too.

“I was moved to another hospital where I’d have more privacy. That was where the doctors stitched me up and gave me some devastating news: “The stab wound went deep into your womb, so you won’t be able to carry any children.”

“I was given the morning-after pill, as well as antiretroviral drugs to protect me from HIV and Aids. My mind shut down, it refused to accept what had happened.

“Harry kept saying he still wanted to marry me. “I want to take care of her and make sure she comes back to good health in my arms, in our house,” he said. Truth be told, I wasn’t in a position to say Yes or No because my mind was so jammed with the faces of the three men, and with everything that had happened.

“A few days later, when I was less sedated, I was able to look him in the eye. I kept saying sorry. I felt like I had let him down. Some people said it was my own fault for leaving the house in the morning. It was really hurtful, but my family and Harry supported me.

“The police never caught the rapists. I went to line-up after line-up but I didn’t recognise any of the men, and it hurt me each time I went. It set back my recovery – it was 10 steps forward, 20 back. In the end I went back to the police station and said: “You know what, I’m done. I just want to leave it.”

“Three months after the attack I was told I was HIV-negative and got really excited, but they told me I had to wait three more months to be sure. Still, Harry and I began to plan our second wedding.

“Although I had been very angry at the press intrusion, somebody read my story and asked to meet me. Her name was Vip Ogolla, and she was also a rape survivor. We spoke, and she told me she and her friends wanted to give me a free wedding. “Go wild, have whatever you want,” she said.
“I was ecstatic. I went for a different type of cake, much more expensive. Instead of a rented gown, now I could have one that was totally mine.
“In July 2005, seven months after our first planned wedding, Harry and I got married and went on a honeymoon.

“Twenty-nine days later, we were at home on a very cold night. Harry lit a charcoal burner and took it to the bedroom. After dinner, he removed it because the room was really warm. I got under the covers as he locked up the house. When he came to bed he said he was feeling dizzy, but we thought nothing of it.

“It was so cold we couldn’t sleep, so I suggested getting another duvet. But Harry said he couldn’t get it as he didn’t have enough strength. Strangely, I couldn’t stand up either. We realised something was very wrong. He passed out. I passed out. I remember coming to. I would call him. At times he would respond, at other times he wouldn’t. I pushed myself out of bed and threw up, which gave me some strength. I started crawling to the phone. I called my neighbour and said: “Something is wrong, Harry is not responding.”

“She came over immediately but it took me ages to crawl to the front door to let her in as I kept passing out. I saw an avalanche of people coming in, screaming. And I passed out again.
“I woke up in hospital and asked where my husband was. They said they were working on him in the next room. I said: “I’m a pastor, I’ve seen quite a lot in my life, I need you to be very straight with me.” The doctor looked at me and said: “I’m sorry, your husband did not make it.”
“I couldn’t believe it.

“Going back to church for the funeral was terrible. Just a month earlier I had been there in my white dress, with Harry standing at the front looking handsome in his suit. Now, I was in black and he was being wheeled in, in a casket.
“People thought I was cursed and held back their children from me. “There’s a bad omen hanging over her,” they said. At one point, I actually believed it myself.
“Others accused me of killing my husband. That really got me down – I was grieving.
“The post-mortem showed what really happened: as the carbon monoxide filled his system, he started choking and suffocated.

“I had a terrible breakdown. I felt let down by God, I felt let down by everybody. I couldn’t believe that people could be laughing, going out and just going about life. I crashed.

“One day I was sitting on the balcony looking at the birds chirping away and I said: “God, how can you take care of the birds and not me?” In that instant I remembered there are 24 hours a day – sitting in depression with your curtains closed, no-one’s going to give you back those 24 hours. Before you know, it’s a week, a month, a year wasted away. That was a tough reality.

“I told everybody I would never ever get married again. God took my husband, and the thought of ever going through such a loss again was too much. It’s something I wouldn’t wish on anybody. The pain is so intense, you feel it in your nails.
“But there was one man – Tonny Gobanga – who kept visiting. He would encourage me to talk about my husband and think about the good times. One time he didn’t call for three days and I was so angry. That’s when it hit me that I had fallen for him.

“Tonny proposed marriage but I told him to buy a magazine, read my story and tell me if he still loved me. He came back and said he still wanted to marry me.
“But I said: “Listen, there’s another thing – I can’t have children, so I cannot get married to you.”
“Children are a gift from God,” he said. “If we get them, Amen. If not, I will have more time to love you.”
“I thought: “Wow, what a line!” So I said Yes.
“Tonny went home to tell his parents, who were very excited, until they heard my story. “You can’t marry her – she is cursed,” they said. My father-in-law refused to attend the wedding, but we went ahead anyway. We had 800 guests – many came out of curiosity.

“It was three years after my first wedding, and I was very scared. When we were exchanging vows, I thought: “Here I am again Father, please don’t let him die.” As the congregation prayed for us I cried uncontrollably.

“A year into our marriage, I felt unwell and went to the doctor – and to my great surprise he told me that I was pregnant.

“As the months progressed I was put on total bed rest, because of the stab wound to my womb. But all went well, and we had a baby girl who we called Tehille. Four years later, we had another baby girl named Towdah.

“Today, I am the best of friends with my father-in-law.
I wrote a book, Crawling out of Darkness, about my ordeal, to give people hope of rising again. I also started an organisation called Kara Olmurani. We work with rape survivors, as I call them – not rape victims. We offer counselling and support. We are looking to start a halfway house for them where they can come and find their footing before going back to face the world.
“I have forgiven my attackers. It wasn’t easy but I realised I was getting a raw deal by being upset with people who probably don’t care. My faith also encourages me to forgive and not repay evil with evil but with good.

“The most important thing is to mourn. Go through every step of it. Get upset until you are willing to do something about your situation. You have to keep moving, crawl if you have to. But move towards your destiny because it’s waiting, and you have to go and get it,” she concluded.
