Any amount actually. If it's more than 10,000 dollars you have to declare it in Nigeria with immigration. You may be prone to extortion with those guys too. If it's more than 10,000 pounds, you declare it at the port of entry in the UK, also. If you travelling with cash, ensure you keep it safe. dammyklein: What is the minimum amount a student needs to take while traveling to UK.
quote author=fetomowo post=104626247]In Cash?
There are international anti-money laundering laws. Even if you declare it, you have to answer some questions.
Why not open a pounds denominated account and get dollar card? |

Let him get his offer letter first. Once he has unconditional admission, and has paid deposit. You can move the money to his account. No one is sure when his CAS statement will come out, so you should be prepared to leave the money in account for as long as his case warrants. NB. I just saw late application, then put it in his account immediately. No time. zinfly: Hello all the Gurus, my inlaw is about to make a late application for a school that resumes on the 20th Sept. my self and husband want to sponsor the entire course and maintenance. the question now is 1. can we logde the money in his account immediately so that the 28 days start reading hence as soon as the admission comes out we can apply 2 will he need more than a month bank statement
please we need your urgent response. |

Human error! Even a perfect system, there must be + or - It will all turn out for your good! Tolvin: Update - I just finished making a paid call to UKVI and the agent I spoke to collected my visa application and contact details. She was really surprised as she said she had not witnessed this before. She said that she saw that a decision was made on the 2nd of August but she is unable to view the decision as it's 'private'. She told me that I should expect a feedback within the next 15 working days (ideally, she said it should come before then). I believe that it will end in praise!!! |

A US visit visa is basic. It's not just for old people, obviously old people do not have the luxury of time to be dillydallying, so a double emphasis there if you aren't in your youth. 1. It can help in multiple ways. Yes there is the infamous illegal stay. That is where some people's mind go to. It's a personal choice. I have never overstayed in any place. But, I am not obtuse to the fact people make such decisions and take such risks. 2. You can easily pick a job interview in the US. A friend's contract was terminated by Andela in Nigeria. Luckily she had a visit visa. Went to Cally. Got a few job offers. Interviewed for it. Came back to Nigeria to apply for H-1B with the help of company lawyers. Earning $115K per annum now. Another friend has transited to this particular work visa without leaving the US. I have no idea how that's done. 3. You can go for business, tourism, conference or vacation. 4. You demonstrate that you've passed the strictest security screening possible. This may help you easily secure visas to countries with high denial rates. 5. You can potentially travel to 49 countries visa free. On transit, visit or business. A friend once had to go to apply for visa to a country whose embassy was not in Nigeria in another country. US visa came handy. 6. US visa is easier to obtain in the UK. (They didn't even ask for my bank statement on the two occasions, that's not possible at their embassy in Nigeria. Bonus: my last US visa. I attended interview without a bank statement. I nor get anything for za account.) 7. Demonstrate travel history, if you've used your Visa. 8. Some personal reasons and choices which may not exactly be legal such as birth tourism, medical tourism, aur pair etc. Note: Please don't turn this into a debate for or against illegal immigration. Gokoyer1401: "While you are in the UK, take the opportunity to get US visit visa (this is very important for old people " can you give reason(s) why this is important for old people? Thanks |

Pay the entire thing you will get the discount. Before enrolment. 2. You are right with that. My brain and my fingers need to sync better. Exoticmm: Please if one wants to pay entire tuition, how then does the discount apply? Do you pay the entire thing and the school reimburses you (which I doubt) or you pay short of the discount fee?
2. I believe the title is “Ms.”, Mx. is more about gender identity. |

You don't have to. You can always return back home if you find it difficult to move to your preferred destination or remain in the uk. That's why I listed several options as much as I can for anyone willing to relocate. A 200 word piece is by no means an encyclopedia. Do your research. You may need a USA visa for many reasons aside living illegally in the US to raise funds for your next move. You may need it to help you be able to secure visas from Nigeria, travel history, transit, or travel to some countries etc. USA visa sha dey important for your pally. In my opinion, its basic. If you dey mama chale country, it is easier to get than in Naija o. justwise: [/b]
You mean after spending millions coming to the UK to study and getting certificate then you move to US with visiting visa to live illegally?
Are you for real? |

1. You should go to a bank and pay your deposit. If you have the entire tuition you can pay it so you get a discount of 500 GBP. 2. In my opinion, as regards name change, you can go ahead, so far you have all your supporting documents. But, note that it MAY confuse some ECO's though, to have a passport different from CAS record. Your application MAY not be straight forward. Alternatively, write to the University, that you want your wives admission letter to reflect the name on her passport, if that's the name on her certificates. Then they should indicate her title as Mx. - a title that can be used by a woman married or unmarried, instead of Mrs. Even though you have different names. It won't affect you during the application. I think it is better this way. 3. You can start your PoF in September or make it end then. Visa application for January will start in October. You can always ask your questions here, people we guide you. You are free to DM me, bro. tombnok: Good day everyone thank you i have been following this thread since May, i tried applying for my wife in june but could not meet up with September admission, she has been offer an unconditional admission in teeside uni to study international management for jan 2022, i want the experienced people to help me with what stage is next, a deposit if part of tution should be made? (non academic condition for admission) POF should be ready? For 28days? Now i just dont know what next step to take.
Also we are newly married and when she was applying she used My surname which is not the same as the name on her international passport. But all change of name processes have been concluded pls i hope this doesn't matter at visa application point?
And i will be willing to be guided stage by stage till we get a visa
Thank you in advance |

Error regretted. 20 hours a week spread over the period. You've taken the US bit out of context. The immediate context is relocation plan. I wasnt writing about work hours. Go through the piece again. Bourne007: Bolded is nothing but false
There's no such thing as 30 hours per week. Plus what does spread out your program even means. Universities have deadline for payment for each year and they don't have students to spread anything over a period of 2 years. Except u dey go university of Argos LOL. Usually a 2 year program comes with a placement/internship and if no placement in the 2nd year within the deadline, student will be asked to do project early. This also means the university will inform UKVI of the change.
Not sure how visiting US at a certain age has anything to do with any of this |
Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 5 by fetomowo: 10:46am On Aug 07, 2021 |
1. Mix up. That bit is not correct. 20 hours per week spread over the time period is what I meant to write. Will correct it. 2. The US visit visa is what rescued a lot of students during Theresa May's era from rotting in Nigeria. This is especially so if you are old cos your options are narrower considering that age, time, family factors may play into your ability to relocate. justwise: 1. How can one legally work 30hrs a week during term time?
2. Why is getting US visiting visa important at old age? |

This needs to be stressed out more than once. If you don't have money for living expenses. Please go to a university that you can afford. It may help if your are coming with family - a spouse that can hustle full-time. Spread out your program for two years by doing a two year masters. In that case you can legally work 20 hours per week spread over the time period. Then you can also have two summer breaks if you have a January start (this maybe a better time if you really need the work to support your finance). Once for September start. Summer breaks usually span 3-4 months anytime between April-September depending on your school. During summer breaks as well as between your course end date and graduation date you can work as much as your body will allow you. Again, don't go to cities that are costly. You will struggle to pay bills. You will have no savings and most probably you won't be able to complete your tuition payment. (An advice - don't start sending money to Nigeria, save your money in the UK, keep a low profile. It's not yet time to start doing Father Christmas.) Post Study Work Visa is not guaranteed. You can be eligible and still not get it. So you must have other plans. While you are in the UK, take the opportunity to get US visit visa (this is very important for old people - those in their 30s and above), you can look at Canada and Australia for skilled immigration, if you are pretty young (early twenties) or you are young (late twenties and early thirties) and have a family. Those of you that like to abuse opportunities thinking no one is watching you. Better believe it the UK have your records o. Una go collect contract phone Una nor go pay. You dey owe council tax after your finish school. May be your case don dey with magistrate sef. If you are interested in PSW na to behave yourself properly o. Nor chook hand for wetin some other Naija people dey do o. Your own route is PSW, do only what will not affect your chances. You and person wey dey file for Refugee status nor be the same thing. Another option is to do another Masters, if you've saved up. Or continue on a PhD. This need not be in the UK. If you have the money consider continental Europe, Republic of Ireland, Germany, Austria, Netherlands etc. By all means, make sure you are not returning to Nigeria the way you left. Well that is if jakpa is your ultimate goal. Have plan A, B, C, and D. If life happens to A, you switch to B. Start planning now! I hope I have spoken well. justwise: Oh well...i see a lot of people here using ''build'' account to get a visa and return the money when the visa is out or even before visa is out...then travel to the UK hoping to work and study to survive...if you do that then you are likely to work more than 20hrs a week during term time, which means your PSW application is in danger.
And you are also likely to fail one or two courses because you invested a lot of time trying to work to survive with little or no time to study. |

Yeah. There is an email. That email is the letter. It just doesn't come as an attachment( I guess that's what you meant). You will need to upload it during your visa application. Simply print to save in pdf. |

I have flown on many African airlines. Can't even remember all. I will say Ethiopian and Kenya are probably your best bet but for the long ETA. They have the best aircraft, pilots, free wifi at terminals as well as where you can lay your body in case of a long layover. Air Maroc is usually cheap (the prices are going up cos there are fewer unrestricted routes into the UK at the moment). Old aircraft, Horrible Airport Terminal (Nowhere to lay your head), smelly toilets like Muritala Muhammed IA, no wonder it's named King Mohammed Airport too. Shorter ETA for a transit route. Good for Luggage (up to 3 bags). Used to be the route to turn to when you are broke Egypt Air is okay as well. You can't fly Rwanda, SAA, Taag Angola out of Lagos to London. My advice will be for you to fly BA. Amber countries might change to red countries before you fly. Check BA from Abuja to Manchester or even Newcastle International, it is way cheaper than Abuja to London and Lagos to London
Dumebi213: I have checked their website for a fare rate, tbh it's just as expensive the difference in ETA is not worth the price
Also, any country can move from amber to red and red to amber without warning so best be safe and fly direct. |

Please will it matter if the account for POF is newly opened. And funded for about 5weeks? Since we're supposed to print 28days out?. 2.) Also please is 20M okay for POF for husband and dependent? Tuition is 13k You can use your POF, count 28-29 days backwards and print. Absolutely no worries about new accounts. 2). It depends on how many dependants you've got. How much of your tuition is left to be paid and what city you'd be studying in- London or outside it |
