joyousf: Mamas that have done or attended one year bday party pls I need ideas of what the program of events should look like and the games to play so the whole thing is not boring. Becuase with what I have looks like we will be done in less than 2 hours o!
Again, my lo is almost a year yet no tooth and he is not walking. Is there anything I can give so the teeth can start growing. I have increased his milk and added soya to his pap.
Then the walking, is there anything I should be doing. I really feel bad sometimes though I know the theory that children are different. Does this pushing walker help? How can I encourage him to walk. Anytime I try to hold his hands to walk he will just want to remove his hand and be on all fours in a second. though in unguarded moments he stands on his own for few secs. Please help me o. I can relate to how you feel especially with how people's mouth can run excessively when it comes to things that do not concern them e.g ur baby has not started walking, by this time? Na wa o! etc. Dont worry yourself jare. Your baby would walk when he is ready. As per the teeth, some babies dont cut their first tooth till after a year. So relax mama. |

hajarahbadmus: God bless u ma.. Fex, pls just go for what u can afford. babies rarely react to nan, lots of fake smas in d market, frisolac is good, thrive signature is also good. my lo took all of it. cow and gate milk is good as well. just go for wht u can afford Thank u hajarah dear. Am actually not new to formula. My DS tuk cow & gate (d one in a similar container to aptamil) during d 1st six months after which he started rejecting it. Had to make a switch to lactogen. Was jus vry curious abt d aptamil becos my neighbor who jus gave birth asked me abt it but tanks to Nita now. |

Nita2013: FexCathy as regards formula for infants, it really depends on d baby and ur pocket. This is because some babies react to some formula.
As regards aptamil, it's a UK based formula and according to health Professionals in d UK, amongst all other formula it's d closest to breastmilk cos of some nutritional content. U can't see aptamil in US shops (at least I av never seen maybe others av seen).
In d US, similac, enfamil, gerber and d likes r termed best as well cos of d nutritional contents.
In Nigeria, Nan is termed best (it's d most recommended by health professionals).
So my dear it actually depends. If u try aptamil and ur baby doesn't react to it, then u can continue but pls follow d instructions written on d container.
Also not everyone can afford these milk cos they r pricey in naija. So some pple just stick to Nan and d likes. My son started with similac but had to change to aptamil when I started buyin similac for 12k and he finishes it in one week. Told my hubby it was suicide mission to spend 12k every week on formula alone. I almost changed to Nan when getting stage 2 aptamil was like searchin for a needle inside grass in darkness but was lucky to get someone comin from d UK thus stocked up d quantity he ll use till 1yr 6months.
I hope my lengthy explanation helped Thanks a lot Nita, I appreciate. |

helovesme: Google is your friend dear or you can experiment with the different brands in the market and decide for yourself
I'm not going to get drawn into a debate on aptamil Never had any intention of going into an argument with you. Just wanted to know @ least from your experience with it. This is a thread where we learn and gain knowledge and am quite sure the initiator of this thread knew there was google before starting it. helovesme: Google is your friend dear or you can experiment with the different brands in the market and decide for yourself

helovesme: Switch to aptamil. It's about the best formula in the market. Are you breastfeeding as well? Please try and breastfeed so matter how short. I know it's painful with the CS scar but try. That way you can adopt "combination feeding" (breast milk and formula).
You shouldn't make the milk for your baby too "thick". I always go one scoop less than what's recommended on the label and it has worked well for my baby. - no constipation or any tummy issues. For example, if it's 6scoops recommended on the pack for 200ml, I use 5 scoops.
Regarding gas - try and get Trebor or any sweet with mint. It really helps. You should try and eat. Experiment with anything - vegetables, fish, oats and even the dreaded pap.
Are you taking pepper soup? If yes, you might have to cut down a bit. Spicy food also causes bloating and gas.
I can relate to the pains and discomfort from CS. Pele dear. Don't worry, it's only a phase and it will pass.
@ heloves me, what makes aptamil about the best in the market? |

Kimoni: I start with cow and gate/aptamil cereals for 6 months and above, millet and guinea corn pap, marshed potatoes, amala with ewedu plus mackerel/marshed beef, marshed bananas, marshed cooked vegetables.
However, to make it easy for him, @ 5 months, I start to give him bits of whatever I am eating. This is not to feed him but to introduce his tongue to a variety of foods and not just milk. Then from 6 months, they are well prepared to eat different solids and give little or no stress then. Thank you. Was asking so I can prepare ahead. My boy will be 5 months on friday and he is currently on cow & gate rice cereal for 4-6 months and I introduced d guinea corn, millet and corn pap yesterday which he took well. I wud adapt ur method and start giving him bits of what am eating. Thanks again dear. |

MiracleMum: You can scoop it into a plate or f-bottle as long as what you are using can stay on hot water to warm. I use the f - bottle, place it on hot water to warm, use a spoon to stir very well - then start feeding. I scoop half of the bottle and refrigerate the other half tightly closed, cos with me my DD doesn't take the full bottle but takes it full with her caregivers. So what they do is dip the cow and gate bottle in hot water to warm, stir well and feed her straight from the bottle with a spoon. Ok. Thanks a lot. |

MiracleMum: A 4 month shouldn't use gerber sitter but gerber supported sitter cereal. I learnt here that gerber products aren't sweet. I have one but am yet to start it for my daughter. She's taking cow and gate egg custard and rice rice pudding now and she loves it a lot. She finishes the bottle at once when spoon fed. I intend introducing cereal this week and I was advised here to start with a rice cereal. I had cow and gate rice cereal in mind but a mama told me this evening to go for cerelac rice cereal that it's fattening. But am not sure cerelac has cereal for 4-6months. I will go shopping tomorrow for that. Pls miracle mum, how do you give ur LO d cow&gate rice pudding? Do u put it in plate or feeding bottle? Also if it isn't finished @ once, how does one preserve it. My LO is currently on the rice cereal and he loves it so I wanna try d rice pudding. He likes cow&gate products sha cos its d formula I use too. |

goosebumps: Mama's please help. !!
I will come back to introduce myself shortly but right now I'm distressed. Gave birth almost 24hrs ago and up till this point there's not a single drop of breast milk. I have tried pap tea hot liquids etc but nothing. Baby now refuses to latch on cos nothing comes out ndy beautiful bobo is obviously hungry. I'm almost in tears myself.
What else can I do Drink palmwine and then u can give baby formula then when your breastmilk starts flowing you can stop the formula instead of keeping baby hungry |

bossladymo1: 4a. Exclusively breastfed babies can be started on water when they are introduced to cereals usually we say 6 months tho 4 -6 months is acceptable in some instances......once they are no longer on breastmilk only, water can be added. (Gbemisola Boyede, Developmental Paed)
1-2oz per day is just okay Pls 1 to 2oz is how many ml? |
Health › Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by FexCathy: 4:35pm On Jul 21, 2015 |
bossladymo1: BAD
Honey Adult milk Golden Morn Anything with raw eggs in it e.g Ice Cream Garri (because of the cyanide content and gummy texture)
Good
Stage 2 formula Beans (peel the skin first) okro/ewedu with mashed titus fish Soft semolina Pureed fruits e.g avocado, banana Pureed vegies e.g carrots, broccoli Fresh fruit juice (if you can make it yourself) e.g apple juice Cereals/meals e.g cornmeal (ogi), rice cereal (I would advise you start with rice cereal first), oatmeal, mixed grain cereals.
Thank u so much ma for this comprehensive list. Come to think of it, where our oda sabi mamas na? Doc tchiwinee, lovinam, kimoni, etc. We miss una o! Pls come back from holiday. Na only bosslady dey here o! |
