The current situation in Sudan is pathetic |
Heavy fighting is continuing in Sudan’s capital Khartoum between warring factions that have plunged the country into chaos with foreign expatriates preparing to flee via military escort. The Sudanese army said on Saturday it was coordinating efforts to evacuate diplomats from the United States, Britain, China and France out of the country on military aeroplanes. Diplomats and their families from Saudi Arabia had already made it out of Sudan. Jordanian nationals were set to leave later. Army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan spoke to leaders requesting safe evacuations of their citizens and diplomats from Sudan, which has been roiled by bloody fighting for the past week. Countries have struggled to repatriate their citizens amid deadly clashes that have killed more than 400 people so far. With Sudan’s main international airport closed, foreign countries have ordered their citizens to simply shelter in place until they can figure out evacuation plans. Al-Burhan said diplomats from Saudi Arabia had already been evacuated from Port Sudan and airlifted back to the kingdom. He said Jordan’s diplomats would soon be evacuated in the same way. Safe enough to venture out? Fighting in Sudan’s capital entered a second week on Saturday as crackling gunfire shattered a temporary truce. Al-Burhan’s army has fought the powerful paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), led by Mohamed “Hemdti” Hamdan Dagalo. Heavy gunfire, loud explosions and fighter jets roared in many parts of Khartoum early Saturday as terrified civilians hunkered down in their homes. Al Jazeera’s Hiba Morgan, reporting from Khartoum, said it remains to be seen if the foreign nationals are able to make it to safety. Some trapped Sudanese, meanwhile, say they are too scared to venture out of the battle zone. “Many people we talked to say they don’t believe it’s safe enough to venture out of their homes, with many still trapped in the vicinity of the presidential palace and military headquarters” Morgan said, adding other foreign nationals, including from Hungary, were able to evacuate via Egypt. “While the evacuation has been planned, nobody knows if they can make it out safely to get on those planes and out of Sudan,” she said Witnesses reported a major battle in north Khartoum between the Sudanese Armed Forces and RSF fighters involving air strikes, artillery and small-arms fire. ‘Paying the price Meanwhile, many civilians report basic supplies such as water and food are running out after seven days of war. Khartoum resident Moez Ahmed told Al Jazeera in an emotion-filled voice: “I want to say to both leaders: ‘We are the civilians. We are paying the price. We are not supposed to live in this situation.’” Sudan borders seven countries and sits between Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia and Africa’s volatile Sahel region. The hostilities risk fanning regional tensions. The violence was triggered by disagreement over an internationally backed plan to form a new civilian government four years after the fall of authoritarian leader Omar al-Bashir and two years after a military coup. Both sides accuse the other of thwarting the transition. https://www.facebook.com/7382473689/posts/pfbid02Au9ReUUJU6rCEKU1xAqJMjLxWW2peKGEae7QbpEj788ocPXg9P8yfAAiVSWJxD5Tl/?app=fbl Nlfpmod

I created this thread to enlighten Nigerians. I'm sure any certificate from these open universities is superior to our conventional universities in Nigeria. Unfortunately so many gullible Nigerians speak bad of NOUN. |
Nigeria isn't the only country that has open university, it's a global thing. Sadly we belittle NOUN in Nigeria Africa 1 National Open University of Nigeria Nigeria 2 Open University of Mauritius Mauritius 3 Open University of Sudan Sudan 4 Open University of Tanzania Tanzania 5 Open University of West Africa Ghana 6 Zambian Open University Zambia 7 Zimbabwe Open University Zimbabwe 8 university of South Africa, the oldest in the world Asia 8 Al-Quds Open University Jordan 9 Allama Iqbal Open University Pakistan 10 Andhra Pradesh Open University India 11 Arab Open University Saudi Arabia 12 Bangladesh Open University Bangladesh 13 Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University India 14 Global Open University India 15 Ho Chi Minh City Open University Vietnam 16 Indira Gandhi National Open University India 17 Karnataka State Open University India 18 Korea National Open University South Korea 19 Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University India 20 Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University India 21 Nalanda Open University India 22 National Open University Taiwan 23 Netaji Subhas Open University India 24 Odisha State Open University India 25 Open Cyber University South Korea 26 Open University Malaysia Malaysia 27 Open University of China China 28 Open University of Hong Kong China 29 Open University of Israel Israel 30 Open University of Kaohsiung Taiwan 31 Open University of Sri Lanka Sri Lanka 32 Open Orthodox University Russia 33 Pandit Sundarlal Sharma (Open) University India 34 Polytechnic University of the Philippines Open University Philippines 35 Shanghai Open University China 36 Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University Thailand 37 Tamil Nadu Open University India 38 The Open University of Japan Japan 39 Universitas Terbuka Indonesia 40 University of the City of Manila, Open University Philippines 41 University of the Philippines Open University Philippines 42 Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University India 43 Uttarakhand Open University India 44 Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University India 45 Venkateshwara Open University India 46 Wawasan Open University Malaysia 47 Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University India Australia 48 Open Universities Australia Australia Europe 49 Hellenic Open University Greece 50 Intercultural Open University Foundation Spain 51 Novi Sad Open University Serbia 52 Open International University of Human Development "Ukraine" Ukraine 53 Open University of the Netherlands Netherlands 54 Open University of Catalonia Spain 55 Open University of Cyprus Cyprus 56 Open University United Kingdom 57 Universidade Aberta Portugal North America 58 Athabasca University Canada 59 Intercultural Open University Foundation United States 60 Open SUNY United States 61 Thompson Rivers University, Open Learning Canada South America 62 Interamerican Open University Argentina 63 Universidad Nacional Abierta Nlfpmod mynd44 |

NOUN is truly a great University, the school has over 100 professors and close to 100 PhD holders working at the headquarters and the various study centers across the country |
The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) will on Saturday, 25th March, graduate 28,740 students at its 12th convocation ceremony. The event will take place simultaneously at the national headquarters of the University in Abuja and study centres in states across the country. Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Olufemi Peters, who made this known on Tuesday at a press briefing to herald the convocation ceremony as well as 20th anniversary celebration of NOUN in Abuja, said six students would be graduating with First Class degree during the convocation. According to the erudite scholar, 2,306 students would bow out of the institution with Second Class upper division, 11,075 with Second Class lower division, 5558 – Third Class while only 279 would go home with a Pass. Giving a further breakdown of the total figure of 28,740 graduating students, Professor Peters said 21,339 are undergraduates while 7,401 are post-graduate students, adding that 58 among them are prison inmates serving various terms in correctional centres. “This is our 12th convocation and we are going to graduate 28,740 students for both undergraduate and postgraduate. ” We have 21,339 undergraduate students and 7,401 postgraduate students. These are quite big numbers, and this is the reason we are established – to give literacy to the Nigerian people….. ” We are graduating 58 inmates and seven are postgraduates,” the VC said, adding that inmates, who are students of NOUN in the 14 special study centres put in place for them, enjoy scholarship from the University. Speaking on the convocation lecture scheduled for Friday, 24th March, 2023, the VC said the event would play host to Professor Puleng Lenkabula, Vice Chancellor of the University of South Africa (UNISA), Pretoria, who will deliver the lecture. “The theme of the lecture is ‘Volatility and Opportunities in Higher Education,’ and the person we invited is the Vice Chancellor of University of South Africa (UNISA). It is the oldest distance learning institution in the history of Africa. This year they will be marking 150 years of their existence and the Vice Chancellor is a woman. The first woman Vice Chancellor of the University, ” Professor Peters said. On activity to mark NOUN’s 20th anniversary, the Vice Chancellor said the University will hold a roundtable discussion on Wednesday that would attract eminent Nigerians including former Vice Chancellors of the University – Professor Olugbemiro Jegede, Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu, among others. He said the theme of the conference is ‘How Far Is Open And Distance Learning In Nigeria? ” adding that the event is to bring to the fore progess recorded so far and the real essence of establishing the University. Speaking further on some latest developments in NOUN which currently boasts of about 141,000 active students population, Professor Peters said the University recently secured accreditation of 30 academic programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC), adding that out of the number, 28 got full accreditation while two achieved interim status. On the moves to ensure eligible NOUN graduates participate in the National Youth Service Corps scheme as corps member, the Professor of Chemistry said the University would soon introduce a new proposal to the new Director General of NYSC that will likely end the exclusion of NOUN’s graduates from the one year national service. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://authorityngr.com/2023/03/21/6-bag-first-class-as-noun-graduates-28740-students/&ved=2ahUKEwjj5Ibajp7-AhVIKewKHT_rD7k4ChDF9AEoAHoECBkQAg&usg=AOvVaw1VT6eqvYCIwLrGlajcGbv1 Nlfpmod Mynd44 |
Who is this nlfpmod? He must be lala in disguise |
I'm curious, seun mentioned lalasticlala in a thread he created last week concerning the use of ethnic slurs and the super mods that will enforce the ban. He mentioned lalasticlala instead of nlfpmod alongside mynd44 and other super mods. We all know lala isn't active these days which has made people to speculate about him being sacked or resigned. Their Modus operandi is the same as well.
