Thank you Lekiboboe for your response. Yes, I graduated 2012 and has been in different career like Technical sales Engineer, Inventory Officer etc before venturing into Seamanship. I do not have much evidence to proof to IRCC on my previous employments. I am more fulfilled on this career path than my previous, and has done many professional courses in seamanship which I believe can be a leeway to securing a seat for admission and study permit respectively. I read on this floor that it is advisable to go for a program related to your current career especially when you have upto 10 years study gap. Thank you! Lekiboboe: |

Note: Applicants must provide a valid Transport Canada Marine Medical stating ‘fit for sea service’ or ‘fit for sea service with limitations’ prior to program start. In the case of an applicant with a certificate ‘fit for sea service with limitations’, the application will be reviewed. Failure to provide the certificate by the deadline may result in an offer of admission being revoked and withdrawal from courses. Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older), and home school applicants may also be considered for admission. Eligibility may be met by applicants who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED, and equivalency testing. For complete details refer to: Please guru in the house I need your professional opinion on the above subject. The above is one of the major requirement for admission into the course I want to study in Canada. How can an international student who does not have PR yet provide a valid Transport Canada marine medicals? hence the country does not accept marine medicals done outside of Canada. Oseigbo, Makano, Frankrobbn1, Lekiboboe and anyone please help me! |

Please I am in this shoe right now,how can I go about it? I read here that a B.sc holder doing a job outside his academic decree will opt for Pgd in Canadian school not Diploma or Advance diploma in order to maintain academic progression. I mailed Nscc to inquire if they offer pgd program in Marine Navigation Management Technology, but their response was that they offer it in a one year Advance diploma, while diploma certificate in Marine Navigation Technology is two years plus one year co-op, the school also told me that hence my Bsc is not related to Nautical science that I do not meet their admission requirement for one year advance diploma that I am qualify for only their diploma program. The mail also stated that none Canadian citizen or PR holder does not allow to board Canadian flagship, that international students without the above status can only be issued academic completion certificate but would not be issued Certificate of Competency (Coc). Please I need advice from all the professionals aboard this platform on how to navigate around this situation hence I'm trying to maintain a good academic progression before the IRCC. Thank you in advance! Lekiboboe: |

Amen. I had been waiting for your landing gist nwanne. May you enjoy milk and honey in your new found land. I'm next in line! Hello beautiful people . LANDING GISt I want to apologize for taking over a week to update the house on my landing gist. I will try to make it short . On the 24th of April I got to Port Harcourt international airport to board my flight with Lufthansa airline. After the usual check by the immigration officers at the door , I proceeded to Print my boarding pass . The Lufthansa staff requested for my passport, Arrive Can, admission letter and proof of enrollment. Afterwards my boarding pass was handed over to me with my documents and my bags checked in . Then I was asked to meet the immigration officers (boarder officers ) and they requested for my passport and boarding pass. one of the officer was busy asking for my WAEC result ( delay tactics to extort me . I didn’t give them shishi . ) when he got tired ,he finally stamped my passport and asked me to go . We left PHC at 8:00pm and arrived Abuja at 8:50pm for technical stop over ( to pick passengers in Abuja) . The delay was for 1hr:30 mins before we took off to Frankfurt. The food was good and I ate everything that was served . I slept most of the time and finally we reached Frankfurt at 5:15am. At Frankfurt Airport , they only asked for passport and Arrive can . After 5hrs layover. We continued our journey to Calgary. I won’t lie I got tired of this trip to Calgary. It was so long and I didn’t even sleep the entire 9hrs 45mins and even got tired of watching movies ..The flight attendant warned me twice for not wearing my nose mask properly and threatened to report if she cautions me for the third time ( you can be fined 5,000cad in Canada for not wearing your mask when you are on transit). For my mind I say which kind witch be this one . I could not breath very well but I say make I just obey before my village people go use me do scapegoat. Finally we landed at Calgary and I went straight to one of the computer for self declaration. I was quick because I wanted to get to the Boarder office on time because the crowd was much . The boarder officer that attended to me only asked for my passport and admission letter . He asked if I have paid my fees and how I intend to pay the balance . Then he issued me study permit and work permit ( please ensure your collect your work permit if your program is co-ops). At this point I was mad happy . Finally , I went back to the boarding gate to catch my flight to Edmonton. I am loving it here ! I wish everyone waiting for decision good luck . God will put a smile on your faces. I have been confused over a couple of weeks now on how to navigate around any issue. I have been on intensive search for a Canadian college that offers two years Pgd in Marine navigation management technology but quite unfortunately the school have such program for one year advanced diploma. Secondly I saw another related program in same school and same campus (Nscc straite campus), Marine Navigation Technology for three years diploma (two years for studies while one year is for co-op). Gurus in the house please what would you advise me do? @Makano, Frankrobbn1, Lekiboboe, Omiinii and others who has been in this confined space before. |

Good morning Nairalanders. I am about to register for CAC. Do I necessary need to link it with a corporate account? If I decide to use my savings account to receive money for the business in as much as it's not more than 500k per day I hope that will not negatively affect my chances of getting approval from IRCC? @Makano, @Frankrobbn1,@Lekiboboe and other guru in the house please chuk mouth. |

Good morning and happy weekend house. I have been in search of any Canadian college that can offer 2 years PGD in any of these Nautical science courses, Marine Navigation Technology or Marine Navigation Management Technology. Nscc offers PGD in Marine Navigation Technology but it's a one year program. Please if anyone have information about schools that offer any of the above courses or any Navigational related course should kindly assist me. Please note, Marine engineering is different from Nautical science (Navigation). God bless you . |

Happy weekend house! I had B.Sc in Industrial Chemistry 2.2 in 2012 and has never worked in my field of study ever since graduation but currently working onboard an Oil tanker vessel as Able Body Seaman for over a year. Gurus in the house, would you please advise the possible course and institution I can apply for PGC considering my CGPA, course of study and current employment status. Note: Nautical science is an officers course for a deckhand like me. I look forward to your response asap please. |

Congratulations bro! guys! Guess who's in Canada!! LANDING GIST!!!! BRACE YOURSELF So my trip was Lagos - Vancouver via Ethiopian Airline by 1:40pm wasn't a smooth one, but I thank God.. Arrived the airport very early, but the queue at the airport no be here! Airport was crowded, scattered, nothing was orderly at the Airport. After waiting for almost 1hour on the queue, one devilish immigration officer eventually told me to join a wrong line, and I lost my spot, and had to go back to the queue again! I almost comot my boxer swear for this guy! He just kept apologising, that's what calmed me down sha. Got to Ethiopian Airline/Naija Immigration checks, was sha asked for my Passport, Acceptance Letter, Arrive Can, Vaccination Card, Covid-19 TEST PCR (which I eventually did, cause I just didn't want any issue and problems.) they told a Chinese lady there to go get a Covid-19 Test and I'm sure she missed the flight, and that was all. Going through checks to board my flight, begging and taxing everywhere at Naija Immigration, I no give anyone 10kobo, cause no be their papa gimme money I use apply for Visa or pay any of my expenses, my check-in bags were searched and unfortunately, those wicked Naija Immigration seized my body lotion, body and anti persperants deodorants was 3, like 5 hair cream, everything seized was worth almost 15K. (I eventually found out, I wasn't meant to check in those kinda stuffs) Guys please learn from me. Don't check in with those sorta stuffs, they should be included inside your boxes. Begged and begged this woman, she no gree, gave me the option of taking it back to my fam outside, family wey don begin dey go house, or trashing it there( which kine mumu trash? Na them go use am, BASTARDDDSSS) I eventually found out na money she dey find, but unfortunately, I didn't have cash with me. Gave out all my naira. Dem no born me well give am $100 notes cause na only wetin I carry be that. Eventually I was the 2nd to the last person to board on the plane. Almost missed the flight. Was running like a FOOL! Immediately I boarded, wasn't up to 8mins, we took off . ENROUTE >>>>>>>ADDIS ABABA (5hours 20mins) Food was terrible, met Nigerians that were leaving the country. Addis Ababa Airport is really beautiful, see difference between Naija Airport and Ethiopian Airport nau. Everything orderly and arranged. Didn't stay at the Airport for up to 40mins. Got into my next flight to Toronto, longest journey of my life (16hours 20mins)! Guys my ass became numb! Thank God it was a night flight, I just kept sleeping and watching movies on my phone. Couldn't watch their movies cause the earphone they gave me was trashy. Almost couldn't hear anything with it. With the whole noise from the aircraft. Though they had good collections of movies. Fast forward >>>>> We landed Toronto Airport, the airport is a beauty! Jesus! Beauty at it's peak. Everything was too organised. I kept asking God who did this to Naija? Cause it's just not fair! Was going with the crowd, omo guys follow who know Road, and keep asking questions. Everybody in Canada is always happy to help in anyway they can. I went straight to the Immigration Officers, I was fortunate, I didn't spend up to 15mins on the queue before it got filled up and crowded. There was this stand where one Immigration Officer was loud and asking this Naija guy plenty of questions! In my mind I was like, God please don't let me go to this same guy! Pleaseeeeeee! Naso e reach my turn for Immigration, ghen ghen! Na that same man them post me go! Quickly told my siblings on WhatsApp to pray for me to pass this Immigration checks, they told me only my mama prayers should sort that out for me. And, Guys guess what? This Man asked me for just my PASSPORT!!! That was all! And asked me how long I'd be studying and who my sponsor was, and where my school is. I didn't spend up to 45 seconds with him. And he printed my permit. Like I was like really? How? Covid-19 Test? Introduction Letter? Acceptance Letter? Proof of Fund? ArriveCan? Tuition Receipts? Vaccination Card? Everything wey i print out? Baba ask me something at least nah... Nothing! Only my Passport! Is God not wonderful? Loll.. He is for sure! Proceeded to my next flight to Vancouver (Air Canada) The queue was terribly long. Was on queue for almost 50mins. After checks, I begin run again, normal level. I was like the second to the last person to board. Immediately, we left. Another 5hours flight! God I was tired of flying! This journey ain't for the weak. I angrily forced myself to sleep. And kept seeing the series on my phone. Finally, we arrived Vancouver! But unfortunately, my bags weren't complete. My bags were missing, they tracked it, and saw its still at Toronto, it didn't come in with the flight. Air Canada fall my hands for that one. Was disappointed. My apartment to the Airport is almost an hour drive. They offered to deliver it to me anyway, make i still dey observe them. Guys I stepped out of the Airport in Vancouver, and the COLD that hit me, blood of Jesus Christ! I never believed it! It was just 12° ohh!! And to think Vancouver has the best weather in Canada? Haaaaa! Na why people full here and it's extremely expensive. Guys make person no lie give you, Canada is extremely COLD!!!!!! Thank God for my cousin who came to pick me up at the Airport. It's 5:55am as I type this, and we're on 4°c, so prepare yourself please, and come with your winter jacket socks, head warmer and hand gloves, yes even if our own for Naija na rubbish, carry am come like that, e dey useful! Thanks to my sister and a friend in Vancouver that forced me to buy it. So in a nutshell, I thank God for a safe trip into Canada. When I sit and reminisce on it, omo! This Canada isn't for the weak! I thank God for this platform (Nairaland), y'all are a blessing, also met good people that have turned friends through Nairaland.! A bigger chunk of thanks goes to my FAMILY. Without them, I wouldn't be here. Mehn, y'all are the real MVP! The whole journey wouldn't have started at the first place. Those delayed, please don't relent, please, it's definitely gonna be worth it in the end, those waiting for an update on their app, please keep praying and keep being optimistic, God would definitely perfect your application. Guys story don finish, make i go back to sleep. I had to do this, make una no think say I don run, which I can't. It has ended in praise for me. I hope it does same to each and everyone here. Thank you. [/quote] 13 Likes |
