We need people that would be able to see beyond their myopic sentiment.

What was Malam Garba Shehu thinking when he said "Buhari has fulfilled his promise of publicly declaring his assets"

Nigerians are no longer fools, don't try to play on our intelligence.

If PMB needs 6 months to declare his assets publicly, we shall be glad to wait rather than attempting to fool Nigerians.

Malam Garba Shehu, this is a public last warning to you.

Public disclosure of assets will give the general public a true picture of the assets of the President and Vice President and

will send a powerful message that it is not going to be business as usual with this government.

This will also follow the best practice by former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, boost this government’s fight against corruption and impunity

of perpetrators, and fully comply with the provisions of chapter two of the dealing with Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of

State Policy, which among others require the government to take steps to eradicate corrupt practices and the abuse of power.”

When you are being robbed? Of what? What the constitution says is that they must declare their assets with the code of conduct bureau which they have done rightly and legally. He promised to declare his assets publicly without giving any stated timeframe and I believe you guys should rather concentrate your efforts on the main issues like dwindling electricity supply, fuel scarcity/subsidy, unemployment etc instead of asset declaration that will soon be published by Sahara Reporters or PremiumTimes.
He actually gave a time frame, first 100 days in office.

I will declare my assets publicly –Buhari
[/size]

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), said he would publicly declare his assets and liabilities, if voted into power.

Buhari stated this in a document obtained by our correspondent in Abuja on Thursday. The document highlights what Buhari will do in his first 100 days if he assumes power on May 29.

He said he would encourage political appointees in his administration to also declare their assets publicly.

If the APC candidate keeps to his promise, he will be the second Nigeria’s President to publicly declare his assets.

If after Amaechi locks out the judiciary for two years while. Innocent Nigerians die in prison

If after Amaechi abandoned governance for over 2years at the expense of rivers people

If after Amaechi conducted a legally unallowed election 6days to leaving office

If after Amaechi has owed civil servants despite receiving the highest allocation and derivation in 8yrs

If after Amaechi has taken impunity to the next level by avoiding a hand over to his successor. .... and he forms Buhari's cabinet

Then Buhari might have to explain to Nigerians what corruption means and tell.us about his proposed fight against same.

What Nigerians require are people who will perform and not the same, recycle and thieving politicians.

How can their be petition or whistle-blowing when the public are not even aware of the content of the 'secret' declaration ?

Mr man sit your ignorant a55 down when people with higher intellect are engaged in a verbal joust.

Declaring to the CCB is the minimum requirement, but during his well documented campaigns he said he would do so publicly like Yaradua did even after declaring to the CCB.

We dont want to know how many shoes or boxers he has, we want him to make his ASSETS public knowledge.

I am not infering that he wont do that, but by this singular act, he is yet to do so, declaring to CCB is confidential, you can only obtain it by court injunction, to pursue a case of corrupt enrichment and the likes, its like saying because there is FOI you can get a lawyer/client discourse, or doctor/patient, or priest/confessor statements.

Now, do you know what assets mean, pls refer to your JSS 1 business studies textbook if you dont.

What is this one saying?

My advice to you.......don't dabble into a conversation that's way above your comprehension. But let me oblige you a bit by educating you.

We all know the rationale behind the constitution insisting that public servants declare their assets to the CCB. But the problem with assets declaration with the CCB is that the public is unaware of the assets info, only CCB is. Thus it's only CCB that can be armed with right information to begin a corruption suit against a public servant based on his assets. The public can't because they don't know the assets of the public servant in the first place.

Yar Adua noticed this and tried to be more transparent by declaring his assets publicly even after declaring it with the CCB. This way, both the CCB and the public are in the know. And Nigerians loved him for it. Now Buhari promised to declare his assets publicly, which he hasn't........yet. But Garba Shehu, his media officer, claims that Buhari has fulfilled his promise. Now do you see why we are reacting?
That is the reason for our reaction: Garba Shehu thought Nigeria of 2015 is the same as Nigeria of 1984.

Bros, to be sincere with you this is not the best way to play the game. It would've been better if you chill and allow give Buhari some little time before doing this. Buhari just declared his assets according to the constitutional requirements just yesterday and you should've allow him some space to see if he will do what he promised or not.

And I also wonder how you expect to bring back the Chibok girl that you guys never believed were kidnapped in the first less than 48hours after his inauguration when his still studying the handing over note and perfecting plans on the way forward.

it is good to have a good and vibrant opposition but nobody will take any of you serious when you do so childishly.
Go and read the head of Buhari’s media team, Garba Shehu's statement and see that their intention is to use the secret asset declaration as the promised "Public Declaration"

I presume given them enough time as you said is like looking the other way when you are being robbed.

Fellow Nigerians,

We are waiting for a rejoinder from APC or the Presidency on an immediate and public declaration of Buhari and Osibanjo's assets.

If they fails within the next 48 hours, kindly note that the probability of failing to fulfill all their campaign promises is HIGH!

I will not do that, Buhari should be a man of his word. He should make a "Public Declaration" of his assets downloadable online like this:
