Foreign Affairs / Re: Russia Accuses U.S. Of Blocking Peace Deal So War Kills More Russians by firstone(m): 8:39pm On May 20, 2022
firstone:
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed on Tuesday that the United States and the United Kingdom have been exerting influence over Ukrainian negotiators to prolong the war in Ukraine with the intent of killing off more Russian soldiers.

Lavrov made the allegations during an educational forum in Moscow, according to the Russian state media outlet RT. Since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine in late February, Russian President Vladimir Putin and various Kremlin officials have publicly threatened NATO and other countries with retaliation if they intervene in the war. Meanwhile, Russia's state media has characterized the conflict as not just a fight against Ukraine but also a war against the West.
Lavrov said during the forum, according to RT, that Ukraine may have found some "acceptable principles for reaching agreements" during past negotiations with Russia, but Western allies did not support the terms.

"We have information coming through various channels that Washington and especially London 'lead' the Ukrainian negotiators and control their freedom of maneuver," Lavrov said. "They want to drag out the conflict, and it seems to them that the longer it will last, the more damage they will inflict on Russian servicemen."

Breaking news: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the U.S. and U.K. are prolonging the war in Ukraine in order to inflict damage on Russia's military.

Me: Pure lie! Russia is the one inflicting damage on itself by launching the unprovoked, unjustified, brutally barbaric war on Ukraine. The President of Ukraine called for peace and negotiation since before the end of February, but Putin refused, and then lied repeatedly. The West is not responsible for the shame Russia has brought on itself.

Foreign Affairs / Russian Government Fired Top Commanders For Poor Performance In Ukraine. by firstone(m): 8:51am On May 20, 2022
According to releases by the UK's Defence Ministry saying the Russian government fired top commanders for poor performance in Ukraine.

According to the report, Russia has arrested and fired Lt. Gen. Sergei Kisel, commander of the Russian Army's 1st Guards Tank Army for losing the Battle of Kharkiv and failing to capture the city.

The unit is considered an elite in the Russian Army, but suffered humiliating losses in the battlefield against the Ukrainian Army.

Foreign Affairs / Re: The Ukrainian Government Has Negotiated For The And Evacuation Of It Solider by firstone(m): 6:55am On May 18, 2022
firstone:
The Ukrainian government has negotiated for the surrender and evacuation of the remaining Ukrainian defenders in Mariupol, which were positioned in the underground bunkers of the Azovstal Steel Plant and defended the city for more than 80 days.

This was after Kyiv ordered the remaining troops to yield to Russian forces to keep them alive, as food and ammunition has become scarce, many and injured and needed medical attention, and due to relentless Russian bombing.

Russia took in more than 250 Ukrainian troops, most of them from the injured members of the Azov Regiment, and were said to have been brought to medical facilities in Russian-controlled areas for treatment, and to a prison facility for processing.

Many more are believed to still be inside the labyrinth of tunnels underneath the Azovstal Steel Plant, although it remains to be seen if they will surrender or not despite Ukrainian Pres. Volodymyr Zelenskyy himself declaring their mission is over and ordering their surrender.

This development confirm that Russia is now in full control of Mariupol.

While Russia said it would follow international rules on Prisoners of War, there are concerns on the fate of these soldiers, since Russia is expected to pin them due to the Azov Regiment's connections to Neo Nazism.

Also, while it is seen as a defeat for Ukraine, the determination of these remaining Ukrainian troops pinned down Russian forces which could have been deployed elsewhere in the country to support Russia's invasion including stalling and probably stopping Russia from taking Ukraine's largest port city Odessa.

This is tragic for Ukraine, but these soldiers have fought to their best courage, determination and ability. President Zelensky's order to them to surrender as their mission is over is a wise decision. Its a decision based on humanitarian reasons. The lives of these valiant UA troops are more precious than fighting for a lost cause. The Battle for Mariupol is an isolated case, Ukraine is a large country, in many places the UA is still fighting effectively, equipped with newly arrived Western Weapons. The Battle for Ukraine against Evil Putin is not over yet.

The Battle of Kharkiv has been declared a victory for Ukraine, as Russian forces retreated after being defeated by Ukrainain counter-offensives to drive out the Russian forces away from the city.

Ukrainian forces have also discovered railway refrigerated wagons in Kharkiv filled with dead Russian soldiers, left behind by their comrades.

Russian units operating around Kharkiv have returned to Russia, with Ukrainian troops from the 127th Territorial Defense Brigade reaching the common border with Russia and reporting to Ukrainian Pres. Volodymyr Zelenskyy that they've pushed the Russians out and won the battle.

It now remains what the Russians and Ukrainians will do next, as it is expected that the retreating Russian forces would be re-equipped and redeployed to the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine to support existing Russian forces in the area.

It is also believed that Ukrainian forces are preparing to push its momentum to include completely driving Russian forces away from remaining pockets north and east of Kharkiv, while also preparing to intensify its counter-offensive in the city of Izyum, southeast of Kharkiv, as the Ukrainian Armed Forces receive more heavy weapons and freshly-trained troops.

This is the second serious defeat suffered by the Russian Army since they retreated from Afghanistan. They suffered from bad leadership, poor training of their troops and the failure to learn from their tactical blunders in their plans and failed operations and adjust accordingly. While the Invasion of Ukraine by Russia, after initial set backs by the UA, they were able to recover, and show their courage, loyalty to their Flag and Country, and great fighting spirit. The Battle for Ukraine also prove the superiority of U.S. and NATO armaments and Weapons systems over Russia.

Wonder why they stopped talking about them once they arrived in Ukraine. But before they arrived - they were the game changer on Twitter, lol.

M777s aren’t a game changer - Russia has superior weapons with flame throwers and smerch. And their artillery is very accurate. So they don’t even need to do much to destroy m777s. Every time they receive fire - they’ll just target it with artillery, lol.

Like you, I used to think Stinger missile was the game-changer in the Soviet-Afghan war but it wasn’t. That was just American propaganda to claim a victory for itself.

According to US military experts who wrote reports after the war - Stinger missiles weren’t that effective in Afghan as well. Taliban had most of its success with how they perfected their use of RPGs, Igla and Chinese weapons. Those were the game-changer. People always forget that China and the Soviets didn’t get along during the war and the Chinese supported Taliban with everything.

Taliban also showed how effective they are with RPGs in shooting down helis because they shot down dozens of American helis during the Afghan invasion in 2003 including 2 Chinooks carrying over 45 US Navy SEAL 6 special forces whilst killing all of them.

If Stinger were that good - how come no other country has been able to use them effectively apart from the lousy claims in Afghanistan?

Another misconception is that the Soviets lost in Afghanistan. But after the Soviets left Afghanistan - the puppet government they left there survived and outlasted the Soviet Union. However, when the US left Afghanistan - the puppet government they left there collapsed and was overthrown the next day.

Post one clip out of the hundreds of clips Ukrainians have posted of destroying Russian tanks or helis/Jets where western weapons were used successfully. I only saw one clip of Javelin and the tank kept moving almost unscathed and the lousy Starstreak one hit a heli with no proof.

Almost all the videos Ukrainians have posted are of Stugna-P and their Soviet era AA batteries. And there are videos of Ukrainian soldiers complaining about NLAW and Javelins and their battery problems and how they’re not working.

Wall Street Journal also just posted an article that the U.K. is searching everywhere to buy Soviet and Russian weapons for Ukraine. So if all these western weapons are the game changer - why are they trying to buy Soviet and Russian weapons?

I can’t speak for the western artillery weapons and missiles that they’re sending now. Those ones are just getting to the frontline and we would know how effective they’re in the next few days/weeks.

There is still major training for Ukraine Army with American weapon such as switchblade drones, light weight m777 howitzer and other weapon

None of those US and UK weapons are achieving anything on the battlefield. Their success story is only on Twitter. Starstreak, Javelin and Stinger have been trash riddled with battery issues and other problems.

Ukraine are achieving most success with Soviet weapons. Their best anti-tank weapon has been Stugna and Igla manpads have helped with helis. Ditto their s300 batteries

That’s why US and U.K. have been running all over the globe to buy weapons from countries that have Soviet weapons for Ukraine.
