Very apt analysis op. INEC goofed by not adhering to their own set electoral guidelines (which according to the constitution is automatically an electoral law) I guess they under rated Obi only to enter into fire brigade mode when they saw the inevitable defeat of APC their by shooting themselves on the leg. Even if Tinubu's twin brother is the SC Chief justice, they cannot pull this through because the evidence is too overwhelming and the whole world is watching |
INEC result cannot be trusted but if Benue people truly voted for APC, know that they are the dumbest people in black Africa. What happened to protest vote to send a message to your oppressors? |
Go and read the details of Uzodimma's supreme court judgement. INEC's own result was rejected and the result tendered by Uzodimma was approved simply because he was able to prove to the court that his results was changed in a few polling units. Forget about the emotional brouhaha, Uzodimma proved his case. HarunaWest: |
How come the polling unit result they are uploading on their server is different from what was declared ? I see all this as a deliberate attempt to annul the election at the last minute and install an interim govt. The evidence so far is already enough to cancel the process. Whoever think Buhari ( an unrepentant dictator) will easily leave power should think twice |
Nigerian youths have gone above the level of tribalism. I guess you saw what happened last Saturday? If 50% of tribal bigots like you will repent and join hands together for a better country, this political ancestors will not be raping us back to back ObiDatti85: |
It's now that the business started. It is not the job of the INEC to interprete the constitution. Like I said earlier, no too rejoice to avoid high BP cos what is ahead is big dat9jaguy: |
I did some law courses in the university though am not a lawyer. I guess we'll leave it for senior lawyers to interpret then. Remember that Mike Igini himself, a Lawyer and former INEC rec said on national tv that the 25% for FCT is mandatory. Nobody saw this coming seriously. It's really thrilling Democracy sweet, na Africans just dey spoil am with ethnicity and religion seunmsg: |

Fine, first of all I advise we keep the argument civil cos I'm interested in this clause of our constitution of and researching on it. Mind you, BAT govt will even favour me through my boss who may likely get a Parastatal appointment so I'm apolitical right now. Back to the case, can you provide a link to the judgement? Based on the section you quoted. If the law sees Abuja as a state why is the 2/3 of states regarded as 24 states which is actually 2/3 x 36 ? Instead of 25 states ? seunmsg: |
Nope, they under rated LP's influence in Abuja. I could remember a prominent lawyer approached the supreme court for interpretation of that clause. Can't find the outcome of the case. Help with a link if you have one. I guess the SC will summon Senior Lawyers and the NBA to put the records straight even after the final result is declared. What it means is that the winner of this election shouldn't rejoice much helinues: |
The law envisage Abuja as a melting pot of Nigeria's unity (center of unity) it's the real no man's land in the eyes of the law. The President is the administrative head of Abuja who now appoints a Minister . The people of Abuja must approve him. This forum is meant to be some eye witness forum where members post their thoughts and observations on issues whether it's official or not. Dunno why some urchins are taking it personal and even insulting my uncle. FarahAideed: |
Falana is a human right lawyer and doesn't know much about constitutional law that is he is not a constitutional law specialist. Law have branches. Forget the big grammar he's speaking jackcanfield: |
Sorry, He's no longer interested in Nigerian politics. I casually sought for his opinion on the case. Abuja was actually designed as a WAZOBIA territory according to him but He is of the opinion that the clause itself is outdated in the constitution and needs to be amended dat9jaguy: |
I personally consulted my uncle (a retired judge in his 80's) on the interpretation of the constitution. Mind you He is a member of the 1997/98 constitutional conference that drafted the 1999 constitution. He said that the FCT 25% clause was added because the President is like the FCT "governor" who now appoints a Minister to run the territory for him. Therefore, for the President to be the Legitimate head of the FCT, He must have 25% approval of the people in FCT. |

Same thing Ukraine said when US warned them of Russian invasion Do you know Buhari? Right now he is very unpredictable. The way he openly disobeyed the supreme court got me thinking. To leave power is not as easy as you think. Even OBJ sought for a third term. What if this charade degenerates and he declares nationwide state of emergency? Resurrection212: |
Buhari should do and go abeg He has killed all our institutions within 8 years. INEC have turned to eyeneck |
I took time to go through the entire electoral act and I'm already seeing wide spread illegalities capable of outright cancellation of the election. What if this is a deliberate attempt to illegalize the election and make room for military take over or Interim govt.? The way they rushed FFK when He twitted about this made me suspicious. PMB is very unpredictable these days Disclaimer: I'm not calling for such neither do I support violence |
What is wrong with Southerners ? Imagine the low turnout. Having another Northern Presidency is a no no |
They are not decamping, the National assembly is highly mixed right now we have PDP, APC, LP and NNPP and possibly YPP . On a serious note, Nigerians irrespective of our political affiliation should appreciate OBi for restoring LP. Do you think Buhari would have succeeded with all these anti-people policy if we have such a diverse national assembly? They would have impeached the Senate President if he tries his rubber stamp nonsense. Another good news is that the next FG will be forced to be on its toe 24/7. Imagine an opposition made up of three strong parties that are very capable of winning election. The era of decamping is over. As a political scientist, I can tell you we are gradually entering into ideological politics with the level of political competition I'm seeing in the coming political era Kapeter: |
Not true, He really built up APGA but unfortunately, the party can't take him anywhere outside the SE I guess that's why He left for PDP. PDP is not good for him because his political phylosophy is far different from what PDP is doing. I think He just discovered his political trajectory. Let him nurture LP and the Governor's (possibly), Senators and Reps under his political empire . Good enough, they are mostly political novices who rode on his back and can be easily blended to the Obidient political phylosophy. I'm very happy with how our politics is evolving, we have a real third force on our hands. OBi just earned himself the new " Southern Buhari". Wainey: |
Nope, OBi have to contest, this election gave him another political level. Like I said, OBi is now a strong force blowing from the South. Let him consolidate on his wins and seek for more partnership in the North especially. Bookmark this thread, Atiku or BAT govt. have no solution to the level of damage Buhari have caused. The usual Nigerian Lamentations will start in 5-8 months time of their tenure. OBi will enjoy his efforts with LP in years to come. The progress He is making is faster than I anticipated. If he can have one or two state governors under his political empire, trust me he is their. No matter what you are told, Nigeria have very high level of ignorance and illiteracy. Playing structureless politics here is difficult. betshopagent: |
I fully understand you. From my observation so far in this election. OBi did not lose,He just emerged the new "Buhari" of the South. The next step for him is to use the next four years to build strong alliance with the North. If he can do that, trust me He will displace whoever emerges President from this election. Atiku and Tinubu have no solution to the level of wahala we are in now. In 8 months time the Lamentation will continue. OBI should consolidate his wins and most especially try to have one or two state governors. I'm impressed with their showing in the HOR and Senate so far franchasofficia: |
Remember Buhari contested severally before he won. OBI should consolidate his grip on the South and partner with Kwankwaso in the next election adonainana: |
What's going on in PH? I intend coming there next week Felimax: |

I thought we used to have National Orientation agency. I could remember back in the days when they were very popular in shaping public opinion and character Ishilove: |
I resumed work today and spent #1600 on transport to and fro on transport as against #800 last year. Th worst part is that the PMs is not even available. Monday it will likely go up to #2000 per day for transport only on meagre less than 60k salary. I just feel like resigning to focus on my pos side hustle |
You mean to tell me all the novice that many of you don't even know that you all voted for as senators and representatives in your yeast and SS won't decamp to either PDP or any party that win las las later.
