Thanks a lot. |

creamyworkz: Go to gumtree and search flatshares in coventry to get an idea of the cost. you'll be fine in coventry, i think the school has the highest population of nigerian students, iono how they do it (just my own opinion, no real proof) Nice one creamyworkz. U've done noble. Was able to search a couple of accomodations on gumtree and saw some single rooms of about 200pounds per month...mehhnn but lookin at d exchange rate presently. Its crazy. But all the same one will certainly find a way. Now with respect to visa issues,is it advicable paying for an accomodation from here? Cos I bilv it will be asked during d visa interview regarding accomodation. |

creamyworkz: I am actually staying in a private accomodation myself, but i happen to have info about the pros and cons of school accomodation.
Firstly about the contract, most axhools have you on a 40 or 50months lease, which doesnt mean you have to pay at once, you can decide to pay montly, or every three months, or pay twice, or in full, their terms are often always flexible. bt trust me they take contracts serious here, once you sign the contract. Its gonna take alot of processing for if you ever want to leave the school accomodation before the completion of the contract term.
Most uni accomodation beds are usually single beds, and for those that will probably be having their girlfriends over and things like that, i think that's the first thing most people tend to dislike about school accomodation. Wish I could get someone who stays in Coventry so I can know the situation of accomodation over there. This exchange rate issue is damm crazy. This calls for wisdom ooo. |

OlowoB: Your blood dey hot o
When you get your visa (i did not say if cos i know you will surely get it by God's grace) and you arrive UK, you will normally have 20hrs to work (would be written on your visa). You can get jobs by applying to agencies. you can do security jobs, care jobs, cleaning jobs, factory work, till worker, kitchen porter etc
You will be able to work unlimited during school term breaks. But please, take money along with you as a student cos the money you will get from those jobs may only cover your rent (depending on the city you would be schooling).
during the school term breaks, you will get more money and also when you finish your course, you will be able to work well due to the additional months that will be on your visa before going back to naija(normally 4 months) No be small thing ooo. U know say person suppose plan himself. Dats why am asking a couple of these questions. I strongly believe I will get that visa. Am looking forward to life over there,so I gats prepare myself. The problem is this exchange rate issue we are experiencing in this country. |

OlowoB: Honestly, part of the reasons why i like answering questions openly is cos it gives room for further opinions, if there is any mistake, it can be corrected and i can also gain more knowledge. No one knows it all.
You have made very valid points.
I think it will be cheaper because they can pay school accommodation with Form A but the major issue is the contract they have to sign with the school and also how many people easily have all of the money to pay at once with the school fees?
But like you said, if anyone has the money, that option will be the best for now with the forex wahala. Thanks for pointing out. Please what's the contract all about? And what's the nature of d school accomodation? |

creamyworkz: I just thought to say this. With the present exchange rate i think it is now cheaper to get a school owned accomodation, i did the calculation and trust me it is cheaper now. as of today, echange rate in most banks is between 453-527naira to a pound. and with school accomodation you can pay at around 290 using form A. I think the gap in the exchange rate now makes school accomodation a better choice. Asides from the fact that you would be tied to a 40-50weeks contract, honestly i see no reason why anyone won't prefer school accomdation. ofcourse unless you intend to pay your rent from money gotten from part-time jobs. Just my 2 cents. I don't mean to say you are wrong bro, i only thought to share my observation There's a point in what you just said. OlowoB what do u think? Please can u describe how the school accomodation is like. |

olayomi: Within a week, it should be sorted. All Form A requests are being compiled and sent to CBN weekly from every bank (every tuesday). I paid 5,000 for the form, and 11,000 for proceedings (diamond bank). And I am being charged at 199 naira - 1 dollar.
If you are ready, I ll advise you to be fast since I just made this transaction today and the rate hasnt changed yet.
Going through Form A is the only route I know of making large payments outside the country. Other people can enlighten us here though. Thanks a lot. This has really enlightened me. Should sort that out soonest. Thanks |

OlowoB: I think you tried to send me an email, i will answer your question here openly so that others may also benefit from the answer too.
(1) Just go to the bank and tell them you are interested in using Form A to pay for your foreign school fees. They will tell you what you need to do.
(2) I would not advise you to use the school accommodation because it is always too expensive when compared to getting accommodation outside the school.
(3) After paying your school fees, the school will likely ask for your statement of account showing that your maintenance fees has been in the account for 28days.
(4) If you did not pay all of your school fees, the money you will put in your account will be your maintenance fees + the balance of your school fees for 28 days (the school will likely request for the print out of the statement before issuing you the CAS)
Please note that maintenance fees for studying in London differs from that of other cities in Uk
(5) As for accommodation, i will suggest that after collecting your visa, you travel to Uk and spend a night in a hotel and then search for accommodation outside school. This will be cheaper for you. You can also check a site called Gumtree for some accommodation in Uk (you can make your search specific by typing the city you will be schooling) while still in Nigeria.
Please do not pay for any accommodation until you get to UK and see the room physically.
(6) Please if you have enough money, i mean your parents are very rich, then you can use school accommodation and disregard point number 5 above.
Please also note
After you have collected your CAS letter and you have selected the day you will be going for your interview, you will likely be asked where would you be staying in the UK (they always ask this question often). If you did not pay for school accommodation, you may have a challenge answering this question if you are not well prepared for the answer.
I'll advise that you collect your CAS and then select the day for interview and before the day you go for the interview, come here and ask for likely questions you will be asked during the interview and i am sure people on this forum will be glad to provide you with answers or guide you on the best ways to answer some questions.
If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to ask here openly Bro you are simply the best...trust me on that, u r just the bomb. U have simply made things easy for us. Thanks alot. Many will certainly benefit from your writeup. God Bless. |

Guys, how y'all doing? Just wana ask this: How best can one pay tuition fee from Nigeria? Is it possible getting a Form A from any local bank here then they will make the payment directly to the school abroad. Please i need your take. |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by fizzile(m): 7:34pm On May 16, 2016 |
imperialebony: That's alright. Whichever fee option you intend to go for, it's achievable, especially if you're scared of the ever-increasing rate of forex at the local market(BDCs). My cousin had the same issue but got it resolved, after adopting the following options: option one, he informed his school of the forex issues in nigeria and asked if he could split the payment, using mastercard and the school said yes! But no receipt will be issued until after the agreed payment was received. He had 2 different masterards...one for current acct and the other for savings, which he obtained from a single bank. His tuition package was 11,670pounds and he was asked to pay 50% in advance. He split the 50% in 4 places as he wasn't permitted to spend more than 2kUSD or its equivalent, monthly online with his card(being the new and upward reviewed rule by CBN),the card was issued by a particular bank with orange logo(I decline to mention the name so I doesn't sound like I'm advertising them and for security reasons...so I don't also get banned by my friend who owns this website, lol). He paid with each card. I helped him pay the balance of the 50% with my cards after he approached me. You may also do this by asking a close relation you can trust, who also has a naira MC, to help you. You can even pay everything within one week. He transferred money into his 2 Ms Cards which he used to do the online payment. Please if you don't trust any relation, meet with your parents or any of your siblings to help you do this. Secondly, if you have siblings or close but trusted relations resident in the UK or USA, you should be dancing skelewu by now because this option will leave enough change in your account, after all is paid. It could be stressful though. Go to any first bank early momo(as early as 6am) and tell the security guy that you want to send money by western Union. They will give you a number or recognise you as the first customer because: first bank can't transfer more than 750USD in a day....and you cannot send more than 750USD in a quarter(i.e 3 months),by WU as well. If you succeed, tell your friend to go to the same branch and help you out the following day to send 750USD to any of your relations in the aforementioned countries. Remember you must get to the bank early enough, in order to take advantage of WU transfer. If you meet someone else, that means you can't do anything until the following day because he will sweep every slot for that day, which is 750USD or its equivalent. Repeat the same process by bringing different people to the bank to help you send money via same channel. The process is cumbersome but a lot cheaper. Your relation would go to WU outlet to claim the money and once it's complete, will pay the money on your behalf. If you're submitting your application soon, this process might not be too good for you cos of the time frame. You may adopt the Ms card option. Cheers Meehhhnnn this one no clear me oooo. How about this other method: Can one go to his bank and request for Form A then the tuition can be paid directly to the school? Is that possible? |
Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by fizzile(m): 7:24pm On May 16, 2016 |
OlowoB: I think you can pay through the bank, Form A ......they will charge you at CBN rates and then collect bank charges also. Please note, the bank will only pay directly to the school account.
Also in addition to what they have already told you above, note that some schools will not issue you the CAS letter even after paying your school fees until they have seen evidence of the maintenance money been in your account for 28 days (they will most likely ask you for statement of account as evidence). Thanks alot. So in essence, when am ready to pay the tuition or deposit of the tuition, i will go to the bank and request for a Form A, then they will make they payment to the school with their charges too. Then at that point i can print out statement of account showing balance of the remaining tuition and maintenance fee, right? I guess am correct. Then with respect to accomodation, do i have to pay that before applying for visa? And must it be accomodation in the school? if its outside, how can someone pay for accomodation here in Nigeria? Thanks as i expect your response. |

imperialebony: how much are you paying in total? For one of the schools, the total is 11,000pounds..so the condition is that i pay 50% first installment. The second school is 12,068pounds and the condition is that i pay 1/3 of the tuition in three installments. So i want to know how best to make tuition payments. |
