Hello fizzle,
This is from my own experience.

1. You apply to a UK school for admission.

2. Alongside your application, you send supporting documents like previous school certificates, english test results, referee letters, motivation statement, etc.

3. School assesses your docs. and sends you an offer letter, which is in most cases conditional ie. based on payment of fees or giving proof of financial scholarship, etc.

4. If you satisfy the requirements in the conditional offer letter, school gives you an unconditional letter or Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) letter which gives the exact details of your course that you will use to fill the visa application form.

5. If your school is awarding you a scholarship, all the details will be included in the CAS, including any money already paid by you.

6. While securing your admission, you should already know how much school fees and maintenance fees the UK Visa office/'embassy' requires you to possess in your account or sponsor's account.

7. The above details are found in the UK Tier 4 guidance document, which can be found using a Google search. Make sure it is the most recent document(by date) as requirements change 'cos they're reviewed over time.

8. Having known this requisite amount, you must hold a minimum balance of this money in your account for 28 days or more b4 you apply for visa. It is advisable to build up this balance gradually and not in a single lump sum as this would arouse suspicion over the true owner of the money.

Dat guy considering UK for master's I won't advice u go... UK schools just want ur money.. After graduating....de literally ask you to leave the next day... No opt no nutin.... No residency....

Pls keep on trying USA.. It will favor n save u more money especially now Dat dollars and pounds r not smiling

Guess u've not been following developments and what made "the guy" take that decision to opt for UK. People have their different limitations and plans.

If you're in science field, try invest in research while you're doing the master in UK. That way, consideration for a doctorate program in US will be smooth. Best!

At fizzile, I didn't think of that. UK masters would definitely work, then you do phd in US. I think its a very good plan instead of bothering yourself trying to get into a low ranked US school. Blast your UK masters and you'll definitely have good options for PhD. You'll still do GRE sha. Nice one.

You need to look at their ranking so as to decide where to go.

When you finally pick the one you want the next step is to meet the condition of the admission, get your CAS and apply for via.

Came into this thread last year with that great aim of getting the very best of info to actualizing dt dream of moving over for a graduate program. Indeed i must say you guys have been so instrumental irrespective of the fact that i got denied by all the four schools i applied. Yeh a low UG gpa and the schools not recognizing a PGD. No knowledge is lost. Took a bold step and made alternative plans and have gotten three (3) offers presently from some UK universities,still waiting for others all the same. Probably i can use the masters i hope to get to apply for a ph.d in the states. Thanks to y'all for d encouragement...bigfrancis,mekeurex,sirriddy,warriboy,holoudarey,...and a couple of guys i cant remember at d moment. U guys have been pillars. I surely will come up here to testify aswell. You guys rock.. And for those waiting to tk dat bold step into dt hall,i wish u d very best,favour from on high,grace...grace...grace.. Any condition attached to the admission?

As for Coventry University, their condition is:  Provide your WAEC certificate with grade C or higher in English Language or achieve IELTS
6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each of the four components.
 Pay 1/3rd tuition fee deposit to secure your place. Refunds will only be given if you are
refused a student visa. The second payment is due before enrolment on the course.
Then for University of Bedfordshire: Conditions: Pre-payment of 50% of the above tuition fees is required to obtain an unconditional offer.
Please provide Skype ID and a personal progression statement which satisfactorily demonstrates your intention to study
MSc Enivornmental Management at the University of Bedfordshire and UK and how you intend to implement your newly
acquired skills on the return to your home country
That Bedfordshire, the ranking is really low..dont really know about the school. Am still waiting for decisions from Sunderland and Salford. Just looking at weighing the options. How are these schools generally? and whats the next step after getting these offers?

Hey Guys, its nice knowing a thread like this exist. I have been on the US thread for some time and applied to some schools in the US but was denied so i had to make a plan B which is applying to schools in the UK.
Please am new here and i will like to have some guide. I have applied to some schools in the UK and i got some offers from the schools i applied into. Looking back to all the years spent on this zone, it was never wasted,
I got my Visa on Monday March 7,(07:28am) 2016, and landed in Los-Angeles on March 28 2016.
I spent my Easter on Emirate, and I was welcomed by a smooth breeze of 7-MPH.

I can't remember most of the questions and answers cos they're all here, but I remembered vividly the lady said to me:

The registration is roughly 35k..its different from the 40dollars u will pay mnsu for their application fee. just attend their lecture for the public on wednesday by 9 at the embassy then inform the woman dat u want to register for educationusa...cos its a criteria for all applicants from Nigeria. Thursday is then for members, u will attend it too.

Minnesota State University, Mankato doesn't require GRE for Environmental Science. The only challenge u will face is that u must register with educationusa nd they will mail the school to inform them that u have registered.

Looking closely at the statement "the application for admission will be reconsidered..." Does it mean its d application itself that they are talking about as a graduate committee and not the admission proper?

No matter what, I aint giving up. I will restrategize and hit them hard. Now I can figure out where I got it all wrong. Firstly,I didn't really contact some faculty advisers,though I did but none responded positively. Noted !!! Secondly,I have to focus on related field as it affected. Noted!!! Guess I also have to look at some low rated schools to be on d safe side. I must testify here !!!

Due to your low UG CGPA, just keep trying and applying to as many schools as you can. Be persistent, you can be lucky and one school will admit you.

Any suggestions? Really trying to get across to some. I think it will require me switching major. Will like to know some schools that offer acceptance for low gpa and maybe consider my pgd too.

Just checked and there's no major close to my field in Masters except in undergraduate level where they have Environmental Science Major
