People here are saying that the telegram is full of fake news. Your opinion though. There's no platform that there ain't fake news. It will continue if any group is not been managed well by the admins. I can authoritatively tell you that the telegram group for FTI is been managed well as admins have taken it upon themselves to verify every new member. Also, all members in the group are seriously warned about posting fake news, Non-adherence always lead to ban.

So if you don't want to join the group, don't downgrade it simply because you feel it doesn't have quality. And how many people drop real information here?

Has nobody had discussion with IPPIS again yet?
I expect people to be shouting alert by now. Anyway let's be patient.

IPPIS is short staffed, hence it's inability to process and pay federal workers salaries without delay

They are not short staffed. If they are short staffed, how come MDAs have been paid? They are just been wicked.

Non payment is not even worst. What is worst is no communication from them to tell us the reason for delay. They will just say anytime they see their salaries let them take.

Nobody should even tell me Nigeria is broke. Nigeria is not broke. For only one month that people didn't go to work they want to say Nigeria is broke.

If a president's first tenure is not okay, never give him another opportunity, his second tenure will always be the worst because it's his last tenure.

April salary alerts of staff of Federal tertiary institutions that enrolled on IPPIS will start dropping tomorrow. I was reliably informed.

Academic staff that didn't enroll on IPPIS will receive their Feb and March salaries today, I was also reliably told. This was in line with the recent President Buhari's directive. 36 out of 43 Federal universities were able to meet the deadline of submitting names of academic staff and other non IPPIS enrollers yet to get paid.

Source: A high ranking Union executive in my school who usually have contact with IPPIS Director.

This is not a news and the source can never be reliable. We have heard this over and over again. Let that high ranking union executive bear in mind that tertiary institution workers are coming for all Union leaders for failing to do what they are supposed to do.

If you are mistaking utme for putme, I can send you sources to learn how both came into existence and the reasons for the inventions. Your bet can't outwit what the ex-NUC boss gave out as reason to set up putme. After reading the article below and you still have objections, then cite out your source, I am not a dumb noun product that will accept hypothesis as a theory.

Please read https://dailypost.ng/2016/07/12/how-we-started-post-ume-ex-nuc-boss-okebukola/

Again, you have always talked about sorting in conventional schools and all sorts, If you think there is no sorting in noun 300L and above, then you just need to hear stories. You still can't change the fact that concessional examination is one way to scrutinize the serious students from the lazy ones.

You are right. There's corruption in every institution and NOUN is not excluded. But I want to let you know that it is not possible to scrutinize lazy students even with putme or ume. The highest that can be done is bring it to a minimal.

NOUN is not a conventional institution and won't operate like the conventional institution. The major focus of NOUN is the workers who at a point will want to improve on their qualifications. I have seen workers enrol in NOUN undergraduate programme simply because they want to switch departments in their organization. Do you suggest these people sit for JAMB? That can't happen. So you see, JAMB can't be used as a criteria for NOUN students.

Secondly, even in conventional institutions, tests are contracted out. NOUN is a distance learning institution and can't determine for you whether you should contract your TMAs or do them yourself. The lazy students and hardworking ones surely are separated when it comes to examination, because the lazy ones won't even score up to 20/70 if they don't read.

NOUN is a very difficult institution to attend and as well an efficient institution that enables all students to read, without which you can't even pass. In conventional institutions, they give you tests, use attendance as marks give you examination. If you fail to meet 75% of attendance in Conventional institutions, you end up not writing exams but that doesn't work.

Well, it is evidence that the greater promotion of students in NOUN these days are young ones who should be schooling in conventional institutions but they choose NOUN. NOUN is aware of this trend and it can't stop it. Everyone deserves to have quality education and I am sure NOUN offers this.

In conclusion, every institution whether NOUN or conventional have their pros and cons, and every institution is trying to seal things up. This is the reason I think NOUN introduced transcript submission for Post graduate studies.

Education / Re: ASUU Salaries: Use Of BVN Will Expose Lecturers With Multiple Jobs – FG by Fkj202004: 4:22pm On Apr 24, 2020
I have read so many comments here that lecturers have something that they are hiding. Well, they are trying only to safeguard their source of income in which the FG wants to take away.

Let me point to you that it is simply not wrong for any lecturer to lecture in more than one university. It is because there are no much lecturers in federal or even state universities; that is why you see one lecturer handling almost 4000 students which is not supposed to be so. So the few that is available tries to go to other schools to lecture as visiting-lecturer and even part time, and so they must be paid.

Now FG is trying every possible way to cut that off.

Who are they deceiving?

Mind you am not a lecturer not to talk of been an ASUU member.

Not that am not happy that Lagos kept a clean sheet but there's something wrong with this new cases.

Lagos is the epicenter of the virus in Nigeria and they can't just come out today and tell me they recorded no new cases in Lagos. They would have said that they had reduced cases or they deliberately didn't want to release Lagos' new cases.

This thing is now been politicised

The post below was posted in the telegram group yesterday and it received little or no comment and reviews there. Guys what do you think about this analysis?

HOW DO WE EXPLAIN THIS:

For those staff who said minimum wage has since been implemented, I am not by any means arguing or saying that it's false; I'm just asking, "How do we explain this?"

From circulated memos on different platforms and fora (which was also posted here), I took time to do a little but indepth arithmetic and got so confused based on the theory that MW has been implemented.

From the memo (you can confirm for yourselves) -

For Grade Level 8/3 as used in the speculation.

February Salary: Paid N112,020.16

Alleged Deductions: - N9,726.92
Pension - N5,506.38
Union. - N1,182.16
Tax. - N3,038.38
——————
Total. - N9,726.92

Add paid amount to alleged deductions
N112,020.16 + N9,726.92 = N121,747.08 (gross)

But from the new minimum wage salary scale 8/3 is supposed to earn N130,061.25 as gross pay

So why do we have N121,747.08 as against N130,061.25?

March Salary: Paid N106,297.47

Alleged Deductions: - N24,544.11
Pension - N9,754.49
Union. - N2,601.29
Tax. - N8,936.80
NHF. - N3,251.53
——————
Total. - N24,544.11

Add paid amount to alleged deductions
N106,297.47 + N24,544.11 = N130,841.58 (gross)

Still different from the proposed new scale of N130,061.25.

Before I ask the questions, let's also note that the alleged 7.5%, 2% and 2.5% of Pension, Union dues and NHF respectively don't tally with their corresponding alleged values (as claimed to be deducted)

So I'll ask:

1. Why is February Gross different from the new MW salary scale Gross with a difference of N8,314.17
(N130,061.25 - N121,747.08)

2. Why the sudden leap in Pension charge?
from N5,506.38 to N9,754.49

Meanwhile from payslip (as at the sample Grade level) Pension charge rate is always within N5,506.38 range.

3. How does Union dues increase from N1,182.16 to N2,601.29?

3b. Did SSANU authorise such increment or IPPIS used their discretion to act on such over 100% increment? When we know that Union dues dances around N1,215.26

4. Tax deduction took an almost 200% increment from N3,038.38 in February to N8,936.80 in March; isn't that amazing?

5. As for the NHF scheme which I know should be voluntarily and not compulsory, let's assume the house plus land cost N3million.
N3,000,000 ÷ N3,251.53 = 922 months
922 months = 76 years

It'll then take us about 76 years to complete payment of the housing scheme. Wow!

Meanwhile, a fact to Note is:
N6,000 wasn't deducted in the March salary; it's N5,722.69 that was deducted.
N112,020.16 - N106,299.47 = N5,722.69 and not N6,000 as thought by members.

My Conspiracy Theory:

I might be wrong, it's just an assumption.

1. I think we're still on the old salary scale, that's the reason we were paid the gross of our grade level as at when we enrolled in IPPIS.

2. I think (based on a previous memo released, that there'd be no deductions in February salary) we were paid without any deduction in the February salary.

My worry now is with the N5722.69 difference in March payment; I can't wrap my head around that particular one.

I'll end by asking, "Would IPPIS pay minimum wage for two months without paying the arrears?

I learnt that some ministries received their minimum wage arrears credit alert even before receiving the minimum wage salary alert (some minutes/hours interval), so why's our own different, if truly MW has been implemented?

I beg for answers, because I'm confused.

Copied from INI IMAH

How do they give response when no-one knows what is going on. Still, no payslip yet. We are all as blank as the Asker

@MrJaay, so what do you suggest the university do to correct this anomaly? While i am not trying to justify the unethical behavior of students who pay for their TMAs to be done for them, you have to also note that NOUN is a distance learning program and ordinarily there's shouldn't be physical contact with students, but NOUN has ensured that students go to chosen study centres to write exams which in a way gives credence to the fact that they are trying to curb cheating, imagine if they decide to do everything online, the cheating rate would have been too much. I would suggest that NOUN should reduce the TMA to 15marks(5 marks per TMA)so the students know that even if the hv "free" 15 marks they need to put in so much to meet with the required pass mark in the exam, I would also like to add that the TMAs be timed and let it be that each students answer different types, meaning, my TMA questions should be different from the other person's. To completely rubbish NOUN program is unfair to those who are doing their best. NOUN need to only outsmart the students and those doing the TMAs for students.

Your idea is welcomed but setting different TMA questions for all students seems kind of impossible. NOUN have over 150,000 active students .

Please don't say that. Do you know how many persons apply for jobs with awesome results and their files are been trashed?

Because you weren't called for interview doesn't mean your NOUN certificate caused it. NOUN is a very good school to attend. Ask those that have evidenced it.

Ain't you asking why every semester NOUN gets alot of new applicants.

Better go and ask why you are not getting interviews and stop blaming NOUN
