Let me shed some light on dis issue as i am very conversant wit the uk system and av experienced what most likely happened to mrs ajimobi, though not wit the same volume of cash. I do a bit of biznes btw ngr and uk.

1stly, when travellin with cash or any financial instrument worth $10k or its equivalent, u r required to declare it at the nigerian airport, who would forward same info to country of destination. Mrs ajimobi, like most ppl would av failed to make such declaration cos of the mistaken belief that nigerian customs wld want a share of the money. By failin to do dis, she immediately loses 25% of undeclared sum to nigerian govt. She is also liable to prosecution for illegal funds.

Now in the UK, in addition to the declaration issue, which needs to be repeated (red route = sometig to declare) on landin in uk, u r also required to show that the funds u r carryin is not a "proceed of crime". In most cases (as i av often experienced), a bank statement showin u witdrew naira equivalent to wat u av on u in £ or $ is enough. On an occasion, a witdrawal receipt from gtb was ok. The statement would also av a trail of income to give it legitimacy. If u bought travellerscheq from bank, then perfect. I dont. I use sabo. In d absence of such proof, uk custom's financial crimes unit will detain the money for 24hrs under the law. Where the person involved has a valid and traceable uk address, she would be allowed home, straight from the airport.

Witin 24hrs, a magistrate order will be procured to further detain the money for 30more days. Since the carrier was not arrested but funds seized, her pasport wil still be with her and she will be free to come and go as she pleases. Infact she will need to return to nigeria in other to obtain proof of the source of income. If she cant prove a legitimate source for the income within that 30dys, she will then be charged for bein in possesion of wats is considered to be " proceeds of crime". Even if guilty in court but no particular crime can be associated to her, she will still walk free but ALL d funds wil be confiacated. She cant be charged wit money launderin cos the money has not bein laundered into any form of property yet. Unlike iboris case wit houses, jets etc.

Now for someone like mrs ajimobi, provin that d money was legit CANNOT be difficult. She only need find a biznes mogul who witdrew amounts equal or above what she had on her. He will then claim he gave it to her for biznes. His story must match whatever she must av said whilst being interviewed. Note the word interviewed not questioned under caution (ie arrest).

In other words, mrs ajimobi will walk away free.......for now. However, the MET police would av started covertly invesigatin her and her interests in the uk. If thy find that wat she owns does not match her legitimate income in nigeria, they wil then arrest and charge her wit money launderin. This offence is in itself bailable until u jump bail. Successful convicition wil lead to the confiscation of her properties and probable jail time aka ibori style but this is at least 2yrs away. Seekin interpol to arreast and extradite her will depend on volume stole and political influence.

Where she should also av problems is in nigeria, for failin to disclose the funds she was carryin. In addition to the loss of 25% of d mony, she cld also face prison sentence for failin to declare. but as we know, this wont happen in nigeria.

So for those who say she was arrested, well u r right in a way. If police stop u and take ur money pendin investigation, na arrest. For she who said she wasnt, she is also rigt. Afterall, u r not deemed arrested until u enter police station or cell or read ur rigts to remain silent.

U r innocent until guilty irrespectiv of how anxious we r to nail all public looters. The principle of natural justice also stands on the fact that it is better to let 10 criminals walk free where there is some doubt, rather than let an innocent man be the victim of miscarriage of justice.

As is Hurricane Sandy arrived, Ibadan was battered wit gale force winds and rain today (Monday (29th October). I hate 2 think what damage it left in its trail bt in the dark of the hour, I was able 2 make out the fact that I av lost the entire roofin 2 my BQ, my chicken house, 3 windows and front pane mirror. Av also lost my PHCN poll, half my banana plantation and part of my fencin wire. The worst part is, my house has been "bullet proof" over the year, even when we had severe floods and wind. In other words, I expect severe damage 2 other properties in the mornin.

On the way home, my car was almost lifted off the ground and the roads were littered wit broken trees and PHCN polls (Apata road), so its worth being extra careful and allowin for extra time if travelin along this route/city.

Off all the 20yrs or so I stayed in UK, genotype was not a word I heard let alone considered in my relationships. Same was the case wit my friends and associates. dnative: You're correct, the team was named Operation Sweep rather than RRS as I indicated. To me this is largely a mind game. Robbers, no matter how well armed and determined will think twice before embarking on an operation if they know there is an equally capable, highly motivated and well equipped team likely to come after them. They will rather go for the easy pickings in less secured states.I still can't see why this is so hard to implement though I admit I may be a bit optimistic. Get the best of the best from our armed forces, get funding from all possible sources, bring in specialists to train them or send them on training to countries with similar experience in crimefighting, establish state-of-the-art zonal command and deployment centers, give the team flak jackets, night vision equipment, high calibre firepower, bullet proof, RPG-resistant mobility etc. i tell you the mere sight of such team when they deploy or get scrambled on operations will send shivers down the spine of the average armed robber. Get media to give the team some publicity and send a strong message out there that the team is ever ready (and within minutes) to get to a robbery incident site).

Robbery is a crime that increases sharply durin the "ember" months vut sadly, it always seems 2 catch us in the same unprepared mode, year after year.

Its easy my brother. Imagine 5 police officers in a peugeot 504. 4 carrying AK47 tightly between their laps while the 5th is driving. All 5 officers probably drank some kai kai hours earlier and possibly feeling a bit tired and sleepy at that time of the night. THey approach the area where the distress call was made. Their headlight is the only one seen for miles. Its dead silent (who dare shout when robbers r around), its pitch dark. The area is a remote village. Police probably think its false alarm. As someone said, it not an area u will expect robbers. One robber is on guard and alert. He sees their headlight and maybe flashin blue lights. Bam, Bam, driver swarves. Panic. No time 2 take guns off safety not 2 mention establishin source of attack by possible one robber wit a "mere pump action". The robber has the advantage. Time, preparedness, position.

Now u see? Those 2 that survived were lucky not better trained or armed/trained. Am sure neither made it wit his firearm on him.

7) If necessary, air support unit will be deployed
Area could be sealed off once its established that firearms are involved
9) Officers deployed will av communication gadgets that work and av signal
10) Officer attendin will know that if anything happens 2 em in the line of duty, all shall be well wit him and his family

I don't know how authentic this story is. Yes, the price of ram as gone up bt not 2 the extent being cited as I bought 3 yesterday in Ibadan for N20k, 25k and 27k respectively. These r for my mum, dad and wife. If I can get this prices (of what I would describe as average sized rams) in Ibadan, then surely, it must be cheaper in the North since most dealer in ibadan source them from the North/Niger republic. There r rams for every budget and like a poster said, its not a MUST 2 kill a ram at eid. U kill if u can afford it. I came across rams as low as N15k and the biggest (huge) was N75k last. I guess it all depends on ur bargainin skills. The one I bought at N20k started off at N55K wit the seller sayin N40k last. Still paid N20k wit tenacity!

Final tip, buy ur ram on ileya dy. Its always cheaper. If u can't kill it that dy, u can still do so the next dy. It even frees u 2 feast wit someone that dy and they can feast wit u the dy after!

Thank u my brother. It requires judicial pronouncement cos it is causin some confusion in legal circles. Only non legal minds think its clear cut. No matter the judgement, this matter will reach Supreme Court. When Alao Akala was about 2 contest in 2011, some people challenged his eligibility on the grounds that he had served 11months as governor when Ladoja was impeached (in 2006). They argued that allowin him 2 contest opened up the possibility of a 3rd term ie 8yrs and 11months as govnor (if he won). The plaintiff argued this was against the constitution. The court (high court) ruled otherwise sayin since Ladojas impeachment was annuled, so was Akalas 11months in power. The case never went 2 appeal/supreme. Now fast forward a few months and the case of Silva, Nyako and idris. The facts wit Akala shared resemblance in the sense that a part of the periods they held sway as governors were annulled by competent courts of law and consequently does not exist in the eye of the law. High Court and Court of Appeal supported this view until the Supreme court stepped in and said "No where in the constitution was it envisaged that anyone would spend more dan 8yrs as the Chief Executive of the State".

Now these two positions av created ambiguity. Take a scenario where a president dies 1 dy into office and the VP takes over. The VP then rules as president for 364days. Will he then be entitled to 2 more (fresh) terms? People keep forgetin that the president cannot/did not run alone. He runs on a joint ticket wit his VP. Dats why they call it "the presidency". Supreme Court, please step in.
